We waited for 3hrs after arriving at 9:30am, and finally eat our food at 12:30. I suggest to arrive before the shop opens, maybe around 8-8:30am. The omelette is not too flavorsome, just full of crab. The fried fried rice noodle is shockingly good, the texture of the noodle itself is super stretchy, I’ve never had it anywhere else. Flavor is rich. I’d suggest to order 1 for each person, as the serve was not big, and it’s too yummy to share! We also ordered curry crab. Again, lots of crab but flavor is mild. You can give it a miss if you’ve ordered omelette. I regret we didn’t order Tom yum I literally stood outside the kitchen in the smoke and heat, and watched the lady Jay Fai cooking a storm for 2.5hrs. It’s very enjoyable, and it’s almost like a art performance

Indeed very long wait, come early at 8ish so you can expect to have your food served at around 10.30. Food is tasty, big portion. I love the crab meat omelette, mouthful of crab meat every bite under the crispy Omelette layer. Tom yum is lovely too, but very spicy though we ordered for mild. But it's still taste good. Sitting inside waiting for our food is quite enjoyable too with the nice smell of food cooking with charcoal. Overall, it's very pricey. Does it worth the price and time for what you're getting? Maybe not, but you should probably come once to figure it out.

If you are so hyped to try it and are willing to wait many hours or wake up so early, then it’s worth it. I arrived by 8 in the morning (the open at 9) and was number 25 on the waiting list, we sat by 11 and eat by 11:45, so almost 4h for the whole experience. The food was quite good and seeing them cook is definitely a nice experience, portions are quite big, but its quite pricey. We ordered the omelet (1400 bath) and the dry tom yum (800 bath). This is just my opinion but not that I tried it and wouldn’t do again the waiting time, just see for yourself if you are up for it, its quite food but Bangkok is full of amazing places to try! :)

The food definitely tastes good. Worth it?? Not really. Every dish looks just like what you would see in other reviews and videos, with jumbo sized seafood. However at this price point, there are many places in Thailand that can match the taste or offer better value. It’s impressive that Jay Fai still cooks every dish herself. It’s a cool gimmick if you don’t mind the wait, but I wouldn’t put this place in a must visit list if you’re not local.

9 Adults and 2 kids (17 dishes) average of 2500 baht a dish and a total of 43,720 baht. 4 omelette with crab is 12,000 baht. Although the portion was good and the taste was alright, could find most of the food anywhere. Booked in advance by a couple of weeks, when arrived still had to wait for 40 minutes and once we got to the table we had to wait for nearly an hour for the food. Just an experience where I wanted to try and experience the taste of mechelin star street food. It would be once and only. In conclusion, a good portion of fresh seafood but the price is overpriced.

Took me four tries to finally reserved a table. Was excited to go. I underestimated how big these portions were since everything in Thailand is relatively small. Couldn’t finish all the food. Love the Tom yum soup. Had it extra spicy. Still burning my mouth but delicious. 5260 baht total for three of us. Worth the money

Many have warned the long waits, high prices, and mediocre food at Jay Fai. Against them all, I decided to brave the negative reviews. Simply no regrets. Not many who visit revered restaurants can say that they have eaten food cooked by the named chef himself. This would be the first time myself for a restaurant after achieving a Michelin star, and I have paid way more for less greatness. To achieve such fame yet still insist to cook every dish herself, deserves all our respect. To Jay Fai, thank you for blessing the world with your cooking. I wish you the best of health and ความสุข. To manage expectations, I visited on a Friday, arrived at 8.15am (45mins before opening) and got a queue number of 27. They sat 11 tables the first seating. Our total waiting time was 3 hours to be seated and 4 hours for food from the time we arrived.

Arrived at 7:30 and already over 20 groups were ahead of me. Ended up #23 in the queue. Started giving out numbers at about 8:30 and serving started around 9:20. Served my meal a little past 12. Large chunks of crab in a perfectly fried egg shell. Great delivery and performance by Jay Fei, but the crab lacked a fresh sweetness and the overall dish was a bit boring for the price and a 5 hour wait. The seafood drunken noodles were tasty and again well executed. Do it again probably not. Regret going, no not really. Good war story to tell my grandchildren. NOTE: by 11 the bookings were full and many disappointed people showing up were too late.

I am 50-50 on this, happy to support local business that is cool. But I feel this place not only over charge for similar food found in any restaurant, the taste is the same or not wow. While it's great they made Michelin guide, but it doesn't give the equal opportunity to other local restaurants that does well. If anything, I think the Michelin guide just ruined the true local experience, because now it is no reservations, come eat, pay and go. Plus they only accept hard cash, in the midst of pandemic. So probably will not repeat my expensive and overpaying meal for a tom yum, "omelette" and soy sauce noodle...

I think the best dish is noodles dish and worth visiting this kitchen. It's delicious, unique cooking with great aromatic taste. I love the char that comes with the noodles and the crunchy squids. The coconut shoots is delicious too. The way she cooks it, the result is very unique, sweet and crunchy. Other dishes, overall it's good. It''s quite expensive. Although understanding that every ingredient is high quality. The booking via email doesn't work, nobody reply. We decided to come early. We got to the place around 8:45 a.m. and we were at the 5th table, luckily we got the table. We got our food first dish at 10:30 a.m. It took about 1.30 hrs to get the food since ordered.

Jay Fai is an institute, she still cooks every dishes by herself. Food is absolutely delicious and worth the hype but a little on the overpriced side. Regarding the service: If you’re nice to them, they will be nice to you 🙂 We made it in for the second attempt - at mid afternoon after a rain storm with a half an hour waiting time. We had the crab omelette which is huge and it is an immense amount of crab in it - worth every baht. And we also ate the drunken noodles which is not that big portion but top notch seafood and texture is great.

The restaurant was very crowded, waiting in line for 4 hours to get a table. Wait about 30 minutes for the food. If you want to experience the feeling of a one-Michelin-star restaurant, you can queue from 8am and walk around the nearby temples. The crab omelette was fatter than the local stalls and the crab meat seemed fresher. However, the price will be quite high if you just want to try Thai cuisine (1 portion is about 1400 Baht).

Worth the price. Waited about 1 hour from the time we arrived until we received our crab omelet. Definitely worth the 1000 baht. It is loaded with juicy crab meat. Good service and amazing taste. One crab omelet is enough for two people. I personally don't think is overrated and definitely not expensive for what you get. Highly recommended.

Delicious Michelin Street Food, you must try but come 2 hours at least before your meal time because very long queue every day. But becareful, Tom Yam is too spicy for foreigner like you to eat. This is important information if you never try it before.

Crab omelette was delicious. Filled with large chunks of juicy, tender crab. 4 dishes cost us 4000 Baht. Watched the Netflix special again after eating here :) provides a nice background on the chef and her storied life. Very happy for her success. Opens at 0900. We put our name down at 08:30. We were seated at 13:30. Toured some of the local temples and had a coffee nearby while we waited The daughter / manager does an excellent job of maintaining the integrity and honesty of the list. If you hang around the entrance, you will see lots of shenanigans with the wait list for those who want cut in - people trying to bribe the host for a table, people trying to claim other people’s reservations, people trying to honestly add themselves to your reservation (ie trying to get a table for 4 instead of the 3). You always learn a lot from someone when they don’t get what they want :)

Overrated. Many just go for the hype. The most expensive food I had in Thailand. And the most time wasting also. Go here if you have hours to spend waiting and if you can manage hunger well. Not sure if the food really that good or if the hunger makes the food taste better. Staff are also not very nice, perhaps too numb dealing with hungry foreigners. I don’t see any locals on this establishment except the staff. After all of these hours waiting all you get really is just a big omelette with crab meat inside. Quite underwhelming.

We signed up around 8:30am, came back to restaurant around 4:30pm. Definitely worth the wait and well deserved Michelin one star. Crab omelette is a must order, but the stir-fry curry prawn is beyond!! So tasty and fragrant.

(Translated by Google) Travelers who come to Thailand to try the star-hunting trip must not miss the Mole Sister Hot Fried. It is strongly recommended to make a reservation. The on-site queue may take 2 to 3 hours. After ordering, it is cooked to order, and you have to wait for the food to be served. The restaurant opens from 2:00 pm to 12:00 pm. It is considered a Michelin restaurant with long operating hours, but according to our experience on this pilgrimage, it is bound to be 12:00. You have to make an appointment first! We came to reserve a spot in the afternoon before the store was open, and it turned out to be No. 37! The actual time to eat is almost 7 hours! So you have to be very patient if you want to come to pick stars! The taste of the restaurant can only be said... It's really delicious! Big push for seafood hor fun and crab omelet! The seafood hor fun includes two prawns, which is super satisfying. The hor fun is full of umami, and the mouth is full of prawns. If you come again, you should finish a plate by yourself! Crab Meat Omelette has a crispy egg skin on the outside, and is wrapped full of crab meat. It is no exaggeration to say that there are at least 3-5 crabs in it! The next conclusion time out of 10 Food taste: 8.5 points Dining environment: 7 points Service attitude: 9.5 points Serving time: 6 minutes Conclusion: The overall dining experience is satisfactory. Seeing Sister Mo keep frying from morning to night, I really admire his physical strength, but the waiting time is too long. Enough to make perfect Thai memories! I still recommend people who haven't queued to come and have a look. When you see foreign tourists cheering after they queue up, everyone can't help but applaud him. This is also a unique feature of this store! Honest opinions: - Not sure how they gotten their Michelin star, even when doing my research prior coming here, I have no expectation and ready to be disappointed by the foods and indeed they did not disappoint me by proving how disappointing the foods were. - Agreed that taste are very subjective BUT if it’s awful, you can really tell the flavours that it’s awful, the foods are super salty espeicallt the soup, and come on how awesome can a fried eggs with crab meat can be when you don’t put other spices, Egg Fu Rong are so much better. - Have tried so many Michelin stars places but this is probably the worst whether you are trying to categorised it as whole or hawker standard wise, it’s still the worst for both category, the worst. - Most expensive hawker standard foods i have tried in a setting with only 4 simple dishes (£112.30/USD 142.38/ EUR 131.57/ SGD 190.88/ AUD 216.86/ NT$ 4455.55/ HK$ 1113.04) - Hire me, i really can cook this so much better, i am sure people who tried my cookings all can vouch for it. - Well, for a foodie that not only love to eat but also know how to cook and make things presentable, you can tell how overhyped this place is and how awful the foods were.

cons: it involves a long wait. pros: it was well worth it! the crab omelette is out of this world - crispy egg roll with huge and delicious chunks of crab meat within. if you don't have a reservation, try arriving 30 mins before opening time and bring a book or fully charged device to keep you entertained as you wait. good things come to those who wait!

Don’t normally post reviews, but came to say we had a totally different experience than many of the negative things written. If you take into account that this is a street food restaurant that was thrust into popularity, it’s actually really impressive how efficiently the team works to move people through and allow as many people as possible to try the food. The staff were clear with instructions, and although not chummy, they were extremely polite. The fact that Jay Fai cooks everything on the menu herself is unbelievable! The crab omelette lived up to the hype and I will also be dreaming about the drunken noodles. We didn’t wait 4 hours, so perhaps that’s why I had such a positive experience, but the food is certainly worth and hour or two wait. Just don’t expect a traditional “Michelin” dining experience. This felt far more authentic.

Amazing quality food!! Lower ratings seem to match with lack of preparation and research. I got the crab omelette and it was worth the wait. I've tried other ones in town and they do not compare, even if they say they do. Michelin rating well-deserved. Kill some time by getting a foot massage at Dinsor, it was a 7-minute walk for us. No need to wait in front of the restaurant. Just don't miss your number!

Let me start by saying it was well worth any wait! Hands down, this was by far the best "street food" we have ever eaten. The overall experience was nothing less than amazing. We were so fortunate to sit at the table closest to the "kitchen" and enjoyed watching Jay Fai cook non-stop. I have no idea how she does it...she is one dedicated chef. The giant crab omelette was phenomenal. It was the best, most tender, well-cooked crab meat we have ever eaten. We also ordered drunken noodles, which were good as well, but hard to compare to the omelette. I'm at a loss reading some of these reviews. Sure, there is a lot of hype around this restaurant. Yeah, we almost gave up and left thinking it was overrated (I have no idea how this restaurant only has a Google rating of only 3.8 stars as of this writing). However, I can honestly say, it is not overrated. It is expensive for "street food," but it's more than that. This is a very unique dining experience, which is part of what we come to expect from restaurants with Michelin stars. It was worth every moment of waiting and every Baht we spent and you should do the same to savor the food and the experience when in Bangkok. (Apologies for the video since they post signs saying no photos, but given where we were seated, it was impossible to not get photos of the chef during our visit.)

Once in a lifetime simply because I waited 4 hours (we were #28 @ 8.20am and called about about 12pm - totally go and walk about please, some nice wats around) in this totally chillax bangkok trip. But so so yummy - packed full of crab meat! Definitely for sharing - we were greedy and had TWO crab dishes but glad we did. I much liked the yellow curry crab too, if not more!!! (Be warned this is not priced as expected your regular thailand coffee shop... )

It took me 2.5 hours waiting from arriving until food served on table, no waiting seat available. And it ended up that the taste of the food is quite similar as those common Thai restaurants at roadside, while with three or more times price higher. So probably it is human nature that fame creates the curiosity and we gonna try it out by ourselves before we believe it. Worthy or not, you decide! If you don’t have time to wait, I would recommend you to try another Michelin Thai restaurant Methavalai nearby. You won’t be disappointed with the environment, food and music!

The food is delicious. Usually have to book months in advance but today we was lucky and no queue at all. Sitting on the middle of a noisy street we enjoyed a nice meal. The crab is really delicious and high quality. The omelette is well cooked and tasty. The price for the meal for two people unfortunately was too high. We pay almost 3000 baht (90 euros) drinking water on the street eating omelette and vegetables. Definitely not for us.

I thoroughly enjoyed the crab meat omelette at the roadside stall recommended by the Michelin guide. The taste was exquisite, and I particularly appreciated the generous amount of succulent crab meat perfectly incorporated into the omelette. It truly elevated the dish and left me wanting more. But I must admit, the waiting time was quite torturous as we patiently waited for our crab meat omelette to be served. It took us a staggering 2 hours, but it became evident that the chef's meticulous attention to detail was the reason behind the omelette's perfect shape and taste. While the wait was long, I recommend arriving early to avoid disappointment and to savor the remarkable flavors of this delightful dish.

This is a must try restaurant in Bangkok but you need to prepare yourself for a long queue. But luckily for us that we know some locals, so we don’t need to wait too long, just around 30 minutes. We order just the two most famous dishes which is the Omelette and Crab Fried Rice, in my opinion is that the omelette is really delicious and there is no comparison. The style for making the omelette is also unique. Great food, great place.

Really lucky to get the last queue number (they no longer accept reservation, only walk in and take the queue number on the spot). Wanted to try her food for many months, but none success as either the reservation is full or couldn’t get the queue number on the spot. Love the crab omelette, the fry porridge, the stir fried glass noodles and on and on, but still many fish we couldn’t try as we are full with five course dish with four of us 🤣. Will definitely visit her again before she retired (I imagine that will be soon as she already 73 Year old this year).

Not worth for the money, The Crab omelette costs B1400 which is over priced for the simple deep fried style, the taste is just ordinary ( although the filling is full of crab meat) Other dishes are a disappointment, especially the Tom Yam Gong, There are much better taste and cheaper Tom Yam from other restaurants The service is totally out, you will be served by a long sour faces as if we go there for a free foods Absolutely over rated, Michelin should step in again to INSPECT for the update condition of this outlet. I sincerely give a bad comment on this so called one star Michelin restaurant. I can assure you, most people will not come back again for a second time

Welcome to Michellin star Bangkok street food 😍 Signature disch Crab omelette , Crab fired rice are good but Tom Goong soup was salty we were completely couldn’t eat it … Finally we are very appreciated for the Chef Jay Fai standing cooking for our food that is impressive .But the host and staffs not really friendly at a Thai people normal does. The restaurant phone number never been pick up because the host is very busy of customers line up queues..So you need to go straight to restaurant and line up at least two hours for get a table ..So everyone needs to spend extra time for waiting if you want to try the food .

Overrated. To book a table you have to go as soon as they open (9.30); we arrived there at 10am and we were number 56. The woman cooks alone so our turn arrived around 3.15pm and we were lucky enough to be there at the exact time otherwise you have to take a new number. After you get called you still have to wait other 40 minutes before you get what you ordered and the food is way overpriced. The staff is not caring about the customers at all and they avoid talking with you as much as they can. Save your money and your time

It took a long time to have a seat here: 1 hour to queue and 1 hour to wait for food. You need to have luck and patience if you want to have a seat in here I ate the signature food: crab meat omelet. The food is delicious, the crab meat is very fresh and the egg is so good. I ate alone so it was full. The price I think is an expensive 1400 bath but this is the experience you should try if you go to Bangkok. Next time I hope I can try the other food on the menu.

How it works: There is a number on the wall, which is where they are with 'bookings'. A 'booking' is made by leaving your name and amount of pax on the list on the table. This is something you can do without minding all the waiting people! Otherwise you will never get a call. We had list no.59 while the indicator was showing 24. They call new numbers in batches, so sometimes it takes a while, and sometimes it goes very quickly. We had to wait about 90 min for our call. What happens next is that everybody who has been called gets to pick the dishes they want. We had the crab omelette ofcourse but besides this, we ordered the yellow crab curry. Then we waited for another good 20 min to be seated, and then we got to order a drink. After another 20 min or so we finally got our food. Total wait in the end was over 2 hours but the food was very good! However this will be a once in a lifetime for me.

The Crab Omelet is 100% worth it. That is fully loaded with crab. It’s really tasty. Also had the curry crab 🦀 which was full of flavor. I’d definitely order these dishes again! Waited about 20min for a table. You place your meal order while you wait. You can also order drinks while you wait to kill time. They only accept cash, there’s an ATM across the street. Service was great. Bathrooms clean. I wish to return one day.

Thank you for this incredible food experience! The crab omelette made me cry of joy and bliss. Tasting it was like listening to Beethoven. The drunken noodles taste was the perfect blend of chalk and her well selected sauces. Eating her food is an unique life experience that is well worth the wait. We arrived at 8.30am, were number 27 in line, sat outside at the good coffeeshop next door, had two coffees and a beer and eventually sat down in the restaurant and had food at 12pm Every single minute was worth it. Next time we will bring some card games and more friends to share more dishes together.

Michelin star restaurant. Nothing fancy. It's your standard open style non air conditioned Thai street restaurant. Generous servings. Service is typically no frills Thai. However the catch is the price to value. Costs are 10 times any other Thai Restaurant. Hence difficult to justify. It's one of these places you try once; accept the cost and discuss later if it's worth the hype. Yes the food is good and fresh but so are a lot of other Thai street restaurants. How much does eating at a one star Michelin rating cost ? Now you know.

Visited 3 times and always excellent quality. Must try Omelet and Noodles. They are serving alcohol at the moment. Really important in Bangkok.

Discovered @jayfaibangkok when @shey_anurag mentioned this "cute old lady who wears ski goggles while cooking on the street side". This was around 2018. Then she came to global prominence with her Michelin Star and @netflix Street Food Asia. We finally walked past her restaurant 2 weeks ago. I spoke to her daughter about reservations and there was a 1+ month wait-list. Then she suggested to queue up, as they keep half the seats for walk-in guests. This Friday we waited for 90 minutes and it was absolutely worth it. The Crab Omlette was absolutely mind blowing! The deep fried noodles with prawn 🦐 was an amazingly welcome surprise. The surprised me is how passionate Jay Fai is about her food that she cooks every single dish on her own. That's about 150+ plates of various different Thai dishes every single night and she's 76 years old. Go there and eat the her food. You won't be disappointed. Definitely going back soon! #mōshèyd #streetphotography #streetfood #food #jayfai #bangkok #thaifood #thailand🇹🇭 #foodphotography #foodie #foodstagram

Fresh ingredients. However overall is average and quite expensive. A bit overrated for a Michelin star - but worth trying once. The most favorite is the khua menu. Suggest to book in advance to avoid the queue and guarantee your visit. Can park around the bridge near the restaurant and walk.

When we arrived, there was already a lot of people waiting to be queued in for a table. We waited almost 2 hours to be seated. We reviewed and ordered from the menu once your number was called. The crab omelet was delicious. The omelets are generously filled with a lot of crab. The dry congee and tom yum were a good compliment for the fried omelet. A bit expensive but a good experience for what the place is known for.

Waited around one hour as a walk in guest. The food was definitely worth the wait. We expected small portions, but we were amazed with how big the portions were ! Definitely explains the price ! The shrimps were gigantic, the crab omelette was full of crab meat and barely eggs !! Jay Fai cooks all the dishes herself. If you sit inside you’ll have the chance to see her cook all the dishes!

Indeed the food is delish, the ingredients are fresh and the omelet is great and difficult to find elsewhere. Do expect the taste of the food to be on the milder side as compared to typical Thai food but I find it tasty and not overpowering with spices so you can taste the freshness of the ingredients. I would give it five stars if it’s not due to the long wait. Do come by 7 am to get a queue number and be prepared to wait for 3-6 hours before you get to eat. Go visit the temples and attractions close by after you get a number

You will wait hours for a table, we waited 1.5 hours for a table and another hour for our food. It is more western prices than Thai for the dishes but the quality and quantity of the food makes it worth every baht - although I’m not sure an omelette anywhere in the UK would cost the equivalent of £20 😅 BUT it is absolutely stuffed with the most delicious chunks of crab meat, more crab than egg, so it is worth it. We ordered 4 dishes between 6 of us, omelette, crab curry, Tom yum and drunken noodles. You won’t regret visiting Raan Jay Fai but it will burn a hole in your pocket!

You have to sign in on a list and are then called to place your order and then assigned to a table. Unfortunately, the staff seem rather stressed but try to serve the many waiting customers as quickly as possible. After about 2 hours of waiting (I arrived at 1pm), it was my turn to order. I ordered the crab omelette and waited at the table for about 20 minutes after placing my order. The omelette was indeed very good and of high quality. For the service and the fact that it is still street food, I still found about 35 euros a bit expensive. What I have observed very often is that people sign up for the list, then go for a walk for about 1h and then find out on their return that their number has already been called, which then leads to heated discussions with the staff. It is clearly written that in this case you have to sign in again - otherwise the waiting guests would be stupid and everyone could just go for a walk and come again when it suits them. Given the reader high prices of the food, it would be good if they would accept card payments (especially because all customers of them seem to be tourists).

I REALLY REALLY wanted to like this place as I saw it in at least 3 different shows on Netflix. But... It's really more hype than substance. It was my most expensive meal in Bangkok and unfortunately it was also the least tasty and a huge waste of time. There really weren't that many people ahead of us in line (Covid and such). In any other place this would have been a 30 min wait at most. So we waited. And waited. And waited. 2 hours and 40 min later we finally got our omelette and bit into it with excitement. What can I say? Well, it's an omelette. A big one. It has crab meat in it. That's about it. No wait, it was salty too. Honestly it was just plain boring. Definitely not worth the high price and the L O N G L O N G L O N G wait. Bottom line, it makes for a good story but really... Don't waste your time. Even the street food in the neighboring China Town was better and cost 1/25 of this overpriced omelette.

Dope! Def worth it. Fun fact: Get here at 9AM to get a seat, any other time and you WONT. She’s the only chef so you have to be patient. He arrived at 9AM and were eating by 9:30. Most people make reservations days in advance. Recommend the crab omelette and the Pad Prik with beef 🔥 totally worth the hype. Delicious charred flavors

Jay Fai is a must to place for any foodie visiting Bangkok. Yes, be prepared to huge lines and s long time waiting but it might worth it in the end. Try to get there early to put your name in the list, people start arriving there at 08am. My recommendation is definitely the crab omelette, very fluffy, full of crab meat. Don’t expect much friendliness with questions while waiting as they are busy, when it’s your time seat they will however be very friendly and professional. Keep in mind that they do not accept cards (cash only). You can not bring beverages from outside as well. The restaurant is small, quite hot and you might leave it smelling smoke but the food will be great. They could also implement an electronic queue making life easier for people (available in any small busy restaurant around Bangkok) but they have so many customers that they just don’t care. The food is expensive, you are paying for an experience in a Michelin restaurant anyway.

The Crab 🦀 Meat Omelet is highly recommended, as it offers a unique and delicious flavor with generous portions of meat that truly justify its name. However, it is important to note that a considerable waiting time is expected, so patience is key. Additionally, please be aware that they only accept cash payments. It is crucial to go around after your registration , as reregistering is required, and losing your queue may result in inconvenience.

Culinary Enchantment at Jai Fai: Where Tradition Meets Exceptional Flavours Prepare your taste buds for an extraordinary adventure at Jai Fai in the heart of Bangkok! As we stepped into this charming, old-fashioned establishment, it took just 5 minutes to secure a table – a stroke of luck for sure. But the real magic unfolds in the kitchen, where a remarkable 79-year-old woman, with a charisma all her own, personally crafts every dish over a crackling charcoal fire. The anticipation builds as you watch her masterfully create each dish, while her assistant lends a hand in the plating process. The crab omelette is a true revelation, boasting a tantalizingly crispy exterior that gives way to juicy chunks of succulent crab meat. Just the thought of it will set your taste buds dancing! And then there's the crab congee, an unexpected gem. The rice has a unique dryness, hinting at a secret roasting technique before it's transformed into congee. Generous servings of crab meat, ginger, egg, and pepper complete this unforgettable flavor symphony. But the adventure doesn't stop there – enter the crab yellow curry! Eggs are added to create a rich, aromatic delight with a spicy kick, elevating the whole experience to new heights. Now, let's talk about the fried rice. While it may have been a bit wet for my liking initially, I discovered that when I refried it the next day for breakfast, it transformed into another flavor revelation. This culinary journey is nothing short of a masterpiece. Jai Fai is a culinary gem, and it's a place that beckons for your return on your next Bangkok visit. Don't miss the opportunity to indulge in these unforgettable dishes, meticulously crafted by a true artisan, and experience the magic of tradition and skill combined to perfection. Your taste buds will thank you! A heartfelt salute to the talented cook at Jai Fai and a sincere thank you for creating such unforgettable culinary masterpieces. Your passion and skill have left a lasting impression, and I can't wait to return for more!

The only chance to enjoy Jay Fai dishes hassle-free. No long queue. No reservation to make. (Checked her stories back in pre-Covid time!) At least, this pandemic gives us an easy time to enjoy her food though it's takeaway. But it's worth every baht we paid. We rang the shop, ordered food, paid the bill online and picked it up 30 min. later right by the curb in front the shop. The staff was helpful, friendly and courteous. Will certainly order more again soon. The crab omelet we ordered lives up to the fame. So do the garlic prawn and stir-fried kale with abalone dishes. Juicy inside was chunky crab meat taking up most part of the omelet. (Surprisingly, the tissue the omelet sat on in the takeaway box was completely dry and free of oil!) If dining in is allowed, it's best to enjoy her food straight from the stove. Yet the takeaway is no less satisfying. The ingredients are fresh. The food is flavourful and hard to beat. Pricey food with characters worth paying for. Highly recommended!

LOVED the crab omelette! The egg was a little drier than the first time we went 1 1/2 years ago and the dish is more expensive. BUT the crab is insanely tasty- slightly sweet, perfect texture, large pieces. And you will never get that much crab for the price in a meal. A unique experience when in Bangkok.

The Good 1) The famous Crab omelette is indeed top-notched and did not disappoint. The Bad 1) Be prepared to wait 4-5 hours from the time you get a queue number to the time you get to put food in your mouth. 2) Other than the crab, the other dishes (we ordered crispy noodle and Tom yum soup) were pretty ordinary. 3) Hawker food at restaurant price. We paid a total of SGD115 for only 3 dishes. 4) No aircon - be prepared to eat and sweat at the same time. As a first time patron, I would definitely admit this is an experience. But to waste my precious time (min 4-5 hours of wait is normal) queuing and waiting for a plate of crab omelette is simply not worth it. Jay Fai needs to develop a smarter queuing and ordering system to reduce wait time for customers. Otherwise it may seem like the long queue is intentional to hype up the place to attract more tourist. Would I return? Unless the wait time is drastically reduced, I would probably never come back again. Been there done that is enough.

Waiting time wasn't too bad, almost 2 hours as walk in and about 1 hour to get our food. We came on Sunday January 2nd 2022. By 12 noon they were completely booked, so try to come early if you want to give it a try. Food was okay, ingredients were of very good quality but flavor wasn't. We ordered the Crab Omelet, Pad See Ew and Tom Yum soup. The Omelet was delicious and the only item I can actually eat; pad see ew was disappointing and the soup was extremely spicy, eventho, when the waiter ask how spicy we want it I said mild and we couldn't eat it. I can't even imagine what the normal spiciness is. I feel a little disappointed since this was the reason I flew to Bangkok, it is definitely not worth it but at least is one item less in my bucket list. I wouldn't come back.

Crab omelette was good but everything else was just normal. I think she does a good job but why the Michelin 1 star? I wouldn't return for 1000-1500 THB per person. For good value, focus just on the crab omelet.

We arrived before 830am and our queue was number 17. We took a risk to visit a temple near by and came back for our queue a bit after 10am and that was a good decision. Because we had to wait for another hour to get a table. If we didn’t count those long wait, we find that all food were cooked with very fresh ingredients and quite big portion. But that comes with the price that you need to pay for. The taste is good. The restaurant is very clean and the staffs are very polite.

Hope that this, and all the other reviews, help someone make the decision about whether or not to do this. Lined up at 7.40am, and was table 19. Seated at 10.45am, and didn’t get food until 11.50am. We enjoyed the food, and went into the whole experience with eyes wide open, having read all the good and bad reviews. The crab omelette is delicious (1400THB)! Exactly like what Mark Wiens says it’s crispy but not oily. The Tom yum prawn soup (800THB) and drunken noodles (600THB), while tasty and great quality, were quite expensive for what they were. The drunken noodle serve was a bit too small, given it’s the equivalent of 26AUD. You aren’t allow to bring in ANY outside food or drink (which I get - the waitress actively goes around throwing out outside food and drink), but that also includes personal water bottles (you are told that you aren’t allowed to use it). Luckily they seem ok about it for kids (had two young kids with me). We are glad we did it, but would not do it again. Nothing negative about the experience, but it’s really one of those bucket list check box items. Definitely buy drinks from and chill in the air conditioned cafe next door while waiting - but do not miss your number!!!

Amazing!!! We ordered the crab omelette and never knew something so simple could have so much depth and rich flavor. This is a must try place and experience, a little pricy but understandable because she is cooking each dish individually to make sure it's done correctly and to order. Quality is as good as it gets, expect a little wait so plan around slower times, etc. Food is well worth it!!

The wait was loooong - 2 hours to sit and 1.5 hours to eat or 3,5 hours in total!). It was worth every minute. Her crab omelette was truly divine. I also tried her highly recommended drunken noodle, while it was good, it didn't quite live up to the hype for me. If you're up for a wait, make sure to go early. The service slows down after noon. She’s the only one cooking and I saw her take a break only once. Also, make sure you’re a large group to enjoy the other dishes.

Despite the long wait in line, I found the overall experience at this restaurant to be satisfactory. The seafood quality was exceptional, although the prices were quite steep. While the crab omelette was a standout dish, the other menu options were mediocre and could be found elsewhere. However, the highlight of the experience was witnessing Jay Fai's passion and dedication in the kitchen. Watching her cook tirelessly for hours on end made the meal all the more precious.

Atmosphere is just a local canteen. All food have plenty of good seafood, but I felt a little bit expensive. You must try Crab meat omlet. This is really unique one. Portion is for 2 or 3 persons. Now que is not so long. I waited around one hour at Saturday lunch.

Whoa .. the crab omelette totally live up to the hype. I was blown away by the perfectly cooked crab meats wrapped inside thin fried eggs. Crispy on the outside but moist and tender inside. You eat this with the sauce and it’s perfection 😍. I also ordered Seafood Pad Kee Mao, it’s also delicious. It’s full of flavor and had that burn stir fried taste. Yes, it’s very pricey but considering the amount and quality ingredients used .. it’s pretty reasonable. Tips: - Come early before 10 if you don’t want to wait. - You can park at the nearby temple across the street.

We stopped by around 15:30 to queue for a table at this famous spot. Only had to wait about an hour and were able to order some beers while we waited. Once we ordered we got the 3 dishes which were more then we could eat even after skipping lunch. We ordered the drunken noodle, seafood dry Tom yum and a crab curry that were all delicious but the drunken noodle might have been the favorite. Total cost was 3500 baht.

Food and service is amazing here. We ordered the crab omelet with a side of rice, drunken noodles with prawns, and 2 big beers. Complimentary hot sauces were also served. Crab omelet looked like a big burrito lol. But the filling is just huge chunks of delicious crab meat. Drunken noodles were also very delicious. The food is cooked over coal fire so there's a nice char taste. There was quite a wait to get seated, and the queue was big. Amongst the unorganized crowd, the host herself was very organized and attentive. We came as a party of two but we saw parties of 4-6 get accommodated. Once on the waitlist, the host will call out numbers in batches where you can place your order while you wait. Once tables free up, you'll be seated and your order will soon arrive. You can order drinks at the table.

Great food after 2.5h wait The food is amazing yes. The famous crab omelette was crispy and airy and absolutely stuffed with delicious crab meat. To be honest it was a bit dry, but I can only imagine the labour required to extract all these huge pieces of crab meat. This is NOT a thing you will find elsewhere as any business that puts profits first will recognize it as extremely costly. Despite that, this dish exists, and at the price point offered it is an absolute steal. Just look at the chefs cooking away in the 40 degree weather with charcoal fired stoves next to the shop, enduring the smoke and heat. All to bring us this great dish that makes no sense economically but is a pleasure on the palate We arrived Friday 2pm and our number was 89, and they are serving number 70. We then got lucky as there were probably ~5-8 no shows. By 4pm we were invited to order, and got a seat by 410pm. Drinks arrived quickly but food arrived at 445pm, and we finished at 510pm (didn't want to take too long as there were still many people waiting!)

I’m saying this as a person who doesn’t like to eat crab. I ordered the famous crab omelette an d it was delicious. If I had to eat crab everyday in any style, I would eat this omelette. Queuing system: -Write name on a clipboard to get a number. -Hostess (very polite) will call your number and give you a menu to look at. She will then take your order. -Hostess will seat you when a table is available. -We waited about 30 minutes once seated. Queuing system was efficient and wait time (2 hours) was expected. Food ordered: -Crabmeat omelette: Her most ordered dish. The flavor was good without being overpowered with so much seasonings. -Tom-yum Goong: The soup was super salty without the sweet and sour flavor of a good Tom-yum. After the first spoon, we only ate the delicious shrimps that were in the soup. -Phad-kee-mao Goong (Drunken noodles with shrimps): The smoked flavor of the stir-fried noodles and the shrimps were the highlights of the dish. The sauce was very similar to the rest of the stir-fried dishes we ordered. -Ka-nar phad pao-hue: Mediocre stir-fried vegetable with oyster sauce. Nothing special. -Phad kra-pao Pla: The grouper used in this dish was delicious. Sauce is the same as the other stir-fried dishes. Plus: The seafood used in the dishes were high quality. Personal opinion: I would not waste my time waiting to eat at this establishment again.
