This building is the building that King Rama V ordered to be built. To use as the National Library It is a place of study for the Maha Nikaya monks. Currently, it is a storage place for many beautiful sermon cabinets. Open Wednesday-Sunday from 9:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m. There is no charge.

A surprising museum that holds its own against all the other competing spots in the area. But, it is much smaller and the exhibits were limited to two subjects only at the time of my visit. None the less, I was well received no entrance fees and a beautifully curated exhibit of Cabinets dating back to various points in Thai history was on display. If you enjoy slow travel and museums that show something different, you might just enjoy this.

Also known as Tuek Daeng, it was previously the royal library for monks in Bangkok founded by King Rama V. Today it serves as an exhibition hall of the history and works of King Rama V. The exhibition has 7 contents which are: 1) The Beloved King-The biography and outstanding works of King Rama V. You can see many important speeches of King Rama V on different occasions. 2) The King and the People-The works of King Rama V that promoted equality in Siam society, especially the abolition of slavery. 3) The sovereignty of the nation-The foreign policy of King Rama V to maintain the sovereignty of Siam during the period of colonialism. 4) New Siam-The very first steps of utility development in Siam 5) Heritage of Thai Architecture-The 3-D model of the 5 important architectures in the era of King Rama V 6) Heritage of World's Memories-The important historical documents of King Rama V that are related to the development and change in Thailand during 2411-2453. These documents are declared "The Heritage of the World's Memories" by UNESCO. 7) Gallery of King's Photography (Piyamaharacharuek)-King Rama V's personal photos that are hard to see.

I had the opportunity to pass by and there was a display of Buddha amulet cabinets from all over the country. They were very beautiful. The show stretched as far as the eye could see. Entry was free.

History Thawon Watthu Building was constructed by the initiation of King Rama V who considered the royal cremation ceremony requiring construction of an enormous temporary cremation hall was rather a waste. His idea was to build a permanent building which could be used to serve other functions after the cremation ceremony. Accordingly, in 1895, the occasion of 10,000 Days Anniversary of the King’s Accession to the Throne, King Rama V had H.R.H. PrinceKrommaphraya Narisaranuwattiwong designing Thaworawatthu Building and Phraya Samosonsapphakan (That Sirisamphan) was in charge of the construction. King Rama V presided over the Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony on 13th September 1896. Certain obstacles had delayed the construction until the King Rama V passed away. King Rama VI then had the work completed and assigned the building as the permanent location of Ho Phra Samut Wachirayan (Wachirayan Royal Library), officially opened by the King on 6th January 1916. In the reign of King Rama VII, the amount of books in the library has greatly increased. Therefore, the King had the library separated into 2 places, Wachirayan Library and Thawon Watthu Building. Wachirayan Library was moved to Siwamokkhaphiman Throne Hall in the Grand Palace to preserve religious scriptures, archives, and hand-written documents.Thawon Watthu Building was assigned for keeping books which belonged to King Rama VI, printed books and newspapers, and the library was renamed “Ho Phra Samut Vajiravudh” (Vajiravudh Royal Library).

The long, narrow building paint in barn red next to the grand palace is now fully restored and display the Beautiful selection of master of Saim Gold gilding art (Lai Rod Nham) on cabinets. The painting shows the royal and local lifestyle of the Ayuthaya period (17th century). Include the mythology and nature with such a fine detail.

meowmeow 🐱🐱 hello 🐱🐱 There are a lot of little cats around the red building. Each one is cheerful, sometimes purring, and clean. I like white gourami to climb trees. I'm not good at talking, but I don't quit playing. Thanks to the place 🙏🙏
