I had a pleasant stay, for one night only. I had to upgrade from a Superior Double Room to a Deluxe room because there was no outside light in at all! I found out that most rooms were like that, due to the density of the area (Chinatown). My new room was spacious, it had several windows so I could enjoy all the natural light I wanted! The hotel is original I its design and decor, and you can tell that at one time it was a high end hotel but now it is showing signs of its age and needs maintenance. Still, it's a nice one, with a very friendly staff. And it's at the heart of Chinatown so lots of places to go to and eat at nearby.

Clean rooms, friendly staff, fantastic location for enjoying the vast amount of delicious food in Chinatown, including the nightly street food extravaganza. Step out the door and you're in the middle of the action. The big bathtubs are a nice touch too. The only downside is that the toilet isn't very private--the door doesn't go all the way to the ceiling and you can see through the edges of the glass, so any sights and smells could be easily noticed by other people in the room. I wish the restroom was a fully separate room with a proper door. Aside from that, I really liked this place.

I was a little disappointed with this hotel. Firstly it's very dark. It's the first room we've stayed in that didn't have a window. The room was lovely, with a super big bath. The TV reception was poor with no news channels and only 1 English speaking film channel. The staff were professional, but not really very chatty. The bar didn't open until 5pm even for residents, and not at all on the Monday. Breakfast was ok, but there wasn't much choice. I'm glad we weren't staying longer than 4 days. The Red Rose lounge was disappointing too. It looks great on their website, but it's just a small area at the end of the bar, open to the street where tables can be reserved, so residents sometimes can't get a seat.

Absolutely stunning place well located along busy Yaowaraj road in Chinatown. Beautiful old building with a Shanghai 1939 feeling. Gorgeous spacious rooms nicely decorated in the 1930’s spirit. The bar is particularly interesting early evening when the life band is playing jazzy tunes. A must visit when in Chinatown and a must stay is even better.

Stayed for 2 nights here. First of all the location is great, in the center of Chinatown so you’re right in the middle of all the hustle and bustle. The staff is super friendly, and go the extra mile to help you with everything. The biggest problem here is that they clearly valued beauty over comfort. Our room did not have a regular front door, but just a wooden plank. This looks pretty but it is extremely noisy. It was just not possible to catch a good night sleep. Or any sleep at all. You hear everything that happens in the halls. And to make it worse, they find it completely normal to host an event with more than 50 people at 6:00 in the morning. Including music and photoshoots, right in the halls before your room. They apologised for this, but as a hotel you could have expected that this would cause noise for other guests. Also, the rooms don’t have windows and the breakfast was disappointing. As much as I would like to praise this hotel, I just can’t. We were so glad we could leave. Hope they will improve!

The rooms rather look like a hostel rooms than a 4star hotel. There's no windows so you feel like you're in a basement all the time. Beside that there's only dark lights inside. Wooden doors are not soundproof so you can hear people walking and talking and even vomiting. Bleh. The sink is located outside the bathroom. There is only rain shower. And it's really hard to get into/ out of the bed. Breakfast buffet is rather poor as for 4star standard. The only thing worth recommending is lounge bar. Great atmosphere, live music and good drinks.

Look small on the facade but big on the inside. It has this oriental charm that captivates anyone who enters the hotel especially at night when the live band starts. Room is clean and spacious and hotel staff is friendly and helpful. Food at the restaurant is pretty good and very nicely presented. Very near to blue line mrt station Wat Mankon. Many nice street food around the hotel for exploring. Highly recommend!

I am so happy I stayed here. The rooms are quiet and nicely decorated. The shower is hot. The restaurant is amazing. I was there on my birthday and they went out of their way to make it special.

This place is great! Very clean and comfortable. The decor is lovely and the staff treat you with the utmost respect, always stand up when you come in and wai almost every time. The hotel room is quiet even though chinatown is busy and they have wonderful live music! The only negative critique I have is that my shower was not my favorite. It is very hot in Thailand and I came in for a cold shower only to find both knobs on the shower were warm. The lack of a shower door also made the water go all over the floor outside the shower. The tile was beautiful, The AC works very very well, and I loved the complimentary tea when I checked in. Other than the shower, I would absolutely stay here again. The price for the level of cleanliness and kindness is almost unbeatable. If you want, you can also book a massage with the hotel which is great if you want to relax even more.

A nice hotel in the heart of Bangkok's Chinatown. The night entertainment is excellent while watching the crowd in the street. The room is clean and has the oriental taste. You can even borrow books to read from a little reading room on each floor. I found the staff are very friendly and accommodating. I always say that you judge a hotel's service not from when you check-in or during your stay but at the end of your stay. This hotel's service is superb right until the end of your stay. They help you with organising taxi to go to the airport and even organising breakfast box if you have to leave before the breakfast ready. I highly recommend this hotel. Even though Chinatown is a bit far away from major tourist attractions but it's so easy to find delicious meals with good price. I really enjoy the vibrant neighbourhood!

This is a decent boutique hotel in the heart of Chinatown. The room was decorated beautifully with one of the most romantic tubs I've seen in my life. Unfortunately, water started leaking on the floor when the tap was turned on, so the dreams of a sexy bath were quickly squashed. The staff is helpful and friendly, and as an all-time lover of freebies, I appreciated that they restocked the mini fridge each day.

Fantastic place to stay. Staff very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and spacious, and the bed was super comfortable. Awesome location in Chinatown close to fabulous restaurants and street food stalls. We really enjoyed our stay.

Our stay there was overall very nice. Staff is kind, spaces are well decorated and location is unbeatable if you want to be in Chinatown and you like the energy that comes with it. The spa was also very good! The only thing that I didn’t love was the fact that our room didn’t get any natural light and I ended up missing a window a lot.

A truly beautiful hotel, lovely staff, very friendly. Clean, great breakfast. My only complaint is that the bedroom didn’t have a real window. It had stained glass windows that don’t open, and actually the other side of these windows is inside the building. So no opportunity of fresh air, only air/con air.

This is a gorgeous boutique hotel in Chinatown. I loved the decor and furniture. Our room was very nice and the staff were all very friendly. Breakfast was great. The restaurant/lounge in the lobby is very busy, go early for a seat. The hotel is fairly close to metor stations so convenient to get to other areas of Bangkok

Thank you to the Shanghai Mansion Bangkok team! Beautiful place when you come in this hotel! You have the luck to drink a thé when you check in. The team is very kind and can arrange a taxi if needed. The room is spacious and the bed is very large. We had a such a big bath (the bath is very large!!❤️) to relax that you can sleep inside easily. Breakfast is good and you have a variety of product (eggs, tomato, noddle, fruit salad, …). I love having cocktails (300 baht) when listening music played by a group band at the entrance of this place! Warning this place is locating next to the Chinese market and lots of people crossing the street so it can be a little bit noisy. It’s a good choice to rest or going to this hotel!

The service team is incredible & the place IMO could be 5 star hotel with bellhop, massage, popular bar & multiple restaurants. They also gave us free stuff since electricity was out for a day due to scheduled repairs. However, the room itself was not great. AC doesn't get the room to 21C at night, it's fairly small, and the shower seems like it could overflow into the rest of the bathroom if you stayed in there too long.

Remember to use ʜᴏᴛᴇʟʙoʟʟʏ.ᴄᴏm when booking any hotel. They compare hundreds of booking websites and usually will have rates a lot cheaper than others! Thank me later on! This resort is the best rated in this area. I've been staying here for a very long time. If you decide to stay here you for sure won't be disappointed. This is a gorgeous boutique hotel in Chinatown. The hotel has many beautiful public spaces with Chinese decor, bright colors and a sense of calm. The rooms were just okay. No windows to the outside. The beds were comfortable, but hard to access. We stay two different weekends and the second visit had twin beds pushed together. The only access was one side, so if the person near the wall needed our they had to crawl over their companion. The door locks seemed flimsy. I did feel unsaf, but if I were a single woman I would have. The air conditioning worked very well which we appreciated. However, it's not the type of room you want to hang out in. The cement floors were slippery if wet from the sink or shower. The staff and service were excellent. The breakfast buffet was extensive with western and eastern options. There was an omelet and noodle station. The food was hot and tasty. We also enjoyed the couples massage. It is more expensive than any place in the street, but it was a fair price and the masseuses were very skilled. Finally, during our first visit the elevator smelled like mildew mixed with a floral which was strange. The location is right in the busiest part of Chinatown. Nights the streets are crowded with food vendors and a mass of tourists.

Want to be in the heart of everything Chinatown has to offer, then don't miss this place. Super quaint boutique accommodation that just oozes old world charm. The service, staff, facilities and location are all top notch 👌

I wanted to stay at the place for a long time already and have read good things about the hotel. The place is nice yes but you feel that it is a bit run down and would benefit from fresh paint. The breakfast was also quite good but our room… had no windows. This was quite a bummer to me and the main tea for the low rating…

The room was very nice, beautiful setting. Great shower, clean and nice bed. Only thing was that the room was sometimes very hot and you can't open the window( the airconditioning did not work properly). Service at the front desk was very good. Breakfast was amazing, a lot of choice, even a dessert buffet and great service. Location was at the busy street in China Town but lots of piece and quiet once you enter the hotel. The bar was separate from the hotel, I did not get the feeling that you are recognized as a hotel guest here and the live music was very loud (too loud for a conversation). Drinks are quite expensive. At the day of departure we already checked out and when picking up our luggage we asked if we could freshen up a little and if there was a shower we could use. Unfortunately the answer was no, that was only possible if we booked a massage at the spa, no exceptions made.

The decor and theme of the hotel were beautiful and the staff were very friendly. The whole experience was nice and relaxing and there are food markets right outside. There were a few issues, however. The door to the room didn't feel very secure, especially when you left and couldn't deadbolt it. One strong push and you definitely could have opened it. The lighting in the room was also in all the wrong places which meant places like mirrors were dark or left a shadow. The shower drain was also clogged so you couldn't take long showers without it overflowing. Also, no windows.

Shanghai Mansion is simple to find, and has a great atmosphere upon entering. You first enter to a bar/restaurant area, with live music overlooking the busy street of food stalls. Approaching the reception, across the bridge over a pond, the noise of the street decreases and there is a warm, welcoming smell. You are greeted with smiles and a glass of cold refreshing tea before checking in. You are shown to your bedroom, which are decorated just as pictures show, with a large comfy bed! No windows in the bedroom, which personally throws me off a little as I much prefer natural light. Room service (food/drink) and laundry services are available. Pros: Welcoming - kind and friendly staff Great spa - massage was amazing Ideal location for a wide range of food Comfy bed Cons (Being picky here...): There is no natural light in the bedroom (where I stayed, at least) so can leave you feeling slightly groggy There isn't a detachable shower head, only the waterfall type fitted to the wall

A truly awesome place for those who wants to booked for a place to sleep. Room qualities is above standard. Breakfast has variety of choices if you are looking for standards one. Location are also pretty convenient and good enough as they were near Yaowarat. Services are very satisfactory, employees are very handful and polite willing to assist or helps you as much as possible. There also have a open-air music playing which might disturbs some customer who wants to sleep early but they will finish on 10pm. To sum up, I myself is not a demanding person as I just looking for a decent place to stay and this place is just perfect for me which there are only minor issue which are acceptable in what they provides in room.

My partner and I stayed at Shanghai Mansion for four nights and have pleasantly enjoyed the stay and would definitely recommend it to anyone who’s visiting Bangkok. The one thing we absolutely find worth staying about in this hotel is its location, especially since we wanted a hotel right in Yaowarat / Chinatown - it’s literally steps away from finding a great dining spot and not more than half an hour from finding other great places in Bangkok. It’s also surprisingly quiet inside despite the business of chinatown, and the decor was tasteful despite not having an actual window with a view (which was quite understandable, imo). Their staff are very friendly and even allowed a late check-out for me until 13:00 as my flight leaves in the evening. I also tried their Signature Burasari 90-minute massage on the day of my check-out which was so lovely and just what I needed after a two-week trip in Thailand. My only notes during the stay was that the shower temperature was quite difficult to control (it’s almost as if the hot water doesn’t work), the doors are only locked with a wooden latch which sometimes doesn’t feel as secure (though we didn’t lose anything, thankfully) and the public washroom in the ground floor has a little bit of a foul smell (but that could just be me being nit-picky).

I didn't use the hotel , We stopped at the bar downstairs as it had a good look and nice vibe. The interior looked pretty with lanterns. They had friendly staff and good live music with an open frontage onto the busy Chinatown Street. You can people watch to take in the vibe of the area and enjoy music at the same time. They serve peanuts with your drinks. We ordered 2 pints of beer and it came to about the equivalent of £12. They take a credit card. Toilets are right at the back through the hotel lobby and clean. It was a very enjoyable end to our evening visit to Chinatown .

Fantastic location and service. Breakfast buffet was pretty good. The room I had smelled a little musty and the doors were definitely thin, you could hear people in the hallway more than other hotels. Overall, it's worth it for the location alone and the nightly live music is cool.

  • 5/5 Cody F. 4 months ago on Google
This place is amazing. The interior is beautiful and curated down to fine details. Nothing was in a state of disrepair or unclean. Our room had a VERY comfortable bed, nice lounging chair, and a spacious bathroom with waterfall shower. Kind of felt like we were staying inside a piece of art. Easy to get to from the MRT blue line, get off on the Wat Mangkorn stop. The Ratchawong river taxi stop is also about a 12 minute walk or quick tuktuk ride. Take the little alleys if you walk to stay cooler and avoid vehicle fumes (also the experience). Being inside, especially the rooms but also the quiet areas outside the hotel rooms transports you to a different world from the hustle and many scents of the outside. Service was exceptional and all staff including servers spoke English well enough to not have to use a translation app. The jazz bar and restaurant up front are open to the sidewalk but stay cool, so it's good for people watching as the night vendors come out without breaking a sweat. There seemed to be live music every night.

Lovely hotel in Bangkok Chinatown. Authentic design, beautiful details in the room, perfect location, amazing breakfast (and overall great food at the Red Rose restaurant). I loved the perks - complimentary mini bar, free 2-hr tour of Chinatown and free dimsum lunch!

This is a wonderful hotel! As a solo female traveler, I felt very safe and comfortable staying here during my time in Bangkok. The hotel itself it beautiful, I felt like I was staying in a resort in the 1930s! The rooms are quiet and comfortable, as well as very clean. The hotel was also very good with the COVID procedures: I was picked up from the airport on time, went to get my test and when I got to the hotel (at 2AM) there was someone waiting for me to help me get to my room and make sure I was comfortable. The next morning I had my breakfast delivered and by 9AM I got a call that my test was negative and I was good to go out. I stayed here for 5 nights and despite it being in the middle of bustling Chinatown, the rooms are so quiet and peaceful. When you walk out of the hotel, you're also right next to some of the best street food in the city! The hotel staff was responsive and able to help me with anything I needed. When I needed to stay an extra night at the last minute, the hotel helped me get a room at a sister hotel (sadly, this hotel was completely full, otherwise I would have stayed with them). I felt really grateful that they took the time to help me so much especially since I was alone. They then arranged a Tuk Tuk to take me to the new hotel! I would recommend this hotel to anyone going to Bangkok!

Warning: the food is not actually Chinese. Not sure what it is. Tourist trap perhaps? Mala has no flavor, nothing tasted right. Noodles were overcooked and meat was overlooked. So disappointing. One star for the ambiance. Could be a nice place for a drink, but definitely don't order the food. There's no way a single Chinese person works in the kitchen.

This place is very unique and tranquil! The cost is highly valuable and I would recommend! It’s quite cheap and the interior is beautifully Chinese themed. Also, it’s situated on the famous Yaowarat market, which you cannot miss when you’re in Chinatown.

I spent some time looking for the most exciting, romantic, stylish and authentic china town experience - many asks - and Shanghai Mansion ticks all the boxes. Right from the location and ambience of the outdoor surroundings at the entry to the Mansion, its stylish jazz bar, the entire interior and to the room.. The pictures you can find online pale to the real life experience, and our experience with the Reception Manager Ben was as warm and welcoming as it was professional. My gf and I loved every minute of our weekend in Chinatown, and have already booked a room for another stay at the Mansion for the New Year in just a few weeks.

Great place to stay bang in the middle of Chinatown. The rooms are tastefully decorated in old school Chinese style with four poster beds. They also have a lovely cocktail bar and restaurant called Red Rose. The drinks are so refreshing and the food delicious. They also have love music at the bar almost every evening. Must visit if you're in Bangkok.

Shanghai Mansion is such a breath of fresh air in a hotel world of cookie cutter poshtels and reused, tired aesthetics. Everywhere throughout the hotel has such a warm, sophisticated, personal touch but never felt cheesy or over the top. My wife and I stayed in a superior room for the night as a part of a China Town staycation. The location was perfect and we loved being able to step outside and be right in the heart of everything, but never hear a peep of noise inside. The rooms were wonderful and had everything we needed, the oversized coconut shampoo & conditioner were a nice touch as well. The only complaint we had was that the air conditioner was loud and made noises all throughout the night waking us several times. However, I did tell the staff at checkout the next day and they seemed sincerely apologetic and would look into it. All in all, a great place that we definitely enjoyed and hope to be able to come back to soon!

I booked this hotel through Agoda on November 4th as a getaway for my husband’s birthday on the 27th of November. Our credit card was charged and we received a confirmation email. Agoda sent us a message on the 24th that our reservation had been canceled by the hotel. When I called the hotel, they said they weren’t reopening until December. When I asked why they were taking reservations through Agoda for November, they blamed a middle man and told us to contact Agoda for a refund and to have a nice day. I’m sorry, but when you falsely advertise being open, take someone’s money, and then cancel 3 days in advance when all of our second and third choice hotels were already fully booked, and then your response is to avoid any responsibility and politely tell us to get lost and ask someone else for a refund, you get a one star review. Beware booking with this hotel unless you are very, very flexible with your plans.

We decided to try this hotel for a 2 day trip to Bangkok. It was the first time we had stayed in Chinatown. The experience was extremely good. All of the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Shout out for Dear who checked us in and out. The location is very good with an MRT stop a short walk away. Given this is a conversion of an older building the rooms do not like your average hotel rooms but they do have a great boutique feel to them and have all of the amenities that you would expect. The restaurant is good and the live jazz at night gave us an excuse to stay at the hotel and try the food and cocktails. Would definitely stay again.

Stayed recently on 13 and 14 February and very impressed with the level of helpfulness and friendliness of staffs. The interior decor reminds me of beautiful old Shanghai. I personally came to do a hotel viewing and booking on my 3rd day of arrival in Bangkok and was glad that they addressed my concerns about my 5th day of PCR test and didn’t charge me a booking fee. Would be keen to stay here again in my next return to Bangkok.

A hotel in the heart of Yaowarat. Shanghai Mansion is a humble abode at first glance. However, when you enter its stunning entrance you get a sensation of organization, culture and tranquility. The foundation of the building has kept its historical integrity but it has been given a modern twist, resulting in a fresh and contemporary style. Indeed, walking up to my room I was confronted with the genuinely most impressive fish pond I have encountered. This is just one of the many thing that I can mention. In short, the hotels attention to detail is undisputed as some of the best I have experienced. Now, in regards to the customer service. The staff really does exemplify that this is the land of smiles. All staff was friendly. Nonetheless, There was one that stood out to me. Ben the front office manager was very service minded and undoubtedly enhanced our experience at the hotel. His English is on point and his knowledge of the city is perfect. If you get an opportunity ask for his service. Ill keep it it short. The room was beautiful like the hotel itself with many nice amenities. The bed was large and confortable. The linen may have been a tad rough for my liking . But was no biggie. Overall, I want to recommend this place to everyone. And I know that this is the place I will go back to when im in Bangkok!

Beautiful interior and design of the hotel. Really a sight and many photo spots!! However, had to give only 3/5 as I think I would not revisit. I didn’t like how the room curtains (facing the corridors) weren’t fully opaque, and the door also had slight gap. Wasn’t so enjoyable :(

Great hotel in Bangkok Chinatown, clean rooms and friendly staff. The interior and the design is a bit a of a reminiscences to the old lavish chinese hotels at the beginning of the 20s century. We had 2 nights, we should have booked more, the hotel and Chinatown are worth investing more time. The bar is great and with live music, drinks and cocktails are well done. Life is surging around the hotel, Chinatown is a different planet in a city that is the most colourful and vibrant city in South East Asia. Photos are made inside of the hotel and at the street in front of the hotel
