All this hotel shares with a 5 star hotel nowadays are it's service quality and prices. Its restaurants are largely overpriced and rooms definitely needs more than just refreshing: it needs revamping. The bath was stained and windows aren't really floor to ceiling. The outside of the building also needs a new paint coat. What I enjoyed the most was the view on the river and the breakfast buffet which included a good selection of cold cuts and cheeses. Beware the infestation of birds outside that will jump on any unnatended plate (the hotel did try to get rid of them but unsuccessfully). Also, the pool looks very very old but the view on Icon Siam makes it worthy.

Terrible staff. I'm a Marriott Titanium Elite member and showed up to a huge line to check in. I went to the Elite line, there were only 2 people in front of me. It took OVER 30 minutes to check in. I don't know how it could take this long, because when I finally was able to check in there was virtually no explanation of the hotel or its facilities. I would have checked in much quicker if I'd stayed in the normal line, so this hotel treats non-elite guests better. Why do I have loyalty at all? I received little in the way of apology so I raised it with who I was told was the hotel manager. Again, empty apology but no effort or gesture to make better. I let her know this is the last time I will stay at this hotel. I stay 75+ nights at Marriott properties a year, and this is one of the worst experiences I have ever had. There are much better Marriott properties in Bangkok (go to Athanee, they treat their guests well). Stay at those other hotels instead.

Great location and service. Rooms a little dated but comfortable so it's not a major issue. It would be nice if they did a little refurbishment to make the room feel more current / updated. Also there is a shuttle boat to ICON Siam every half hour except lunch hour until 10pm. Really wished the last boat was maybe 15 mins later as some river cruises return to ICON Siam at 10pm and you won't have time to get on the boat back to the hotel. There are public boats and taxis but it gets pretty packed at 10pm. It will take an extra half hour to one hour without the shuttle boat due to the crowd.

Stayed there for three nights & this hotel got one of the best views of Bangkok. The concierge has a spacious area & check-ins were quick. The rooms are well maintained & washroom got all modern amenities. Lifts work super fast. The lobbies & corridors are clean & well-scented. Love the views from different rooms. Even the corridors have great views of the citysides. Took a 3:30 am room service to weigh my luggage n the staff was superb n professional enough to provide the service with a smiling face. The experience was amazing.

I donโ€™t have enough good things to say!!! If you are in Bangkok looking to stay on the river this hotel is honestly a MUST! It is an amazing location with beautiful views. There are Two different pools (one with a swim up bar and there were peacocks just chillin ๐Ÿฆš๐Ÿ˜). The fitness center was beautiful overlooking the river. Three different restaurants! The buffet breakfast was INSANE! Anything and everything you could possibly imagine!๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ๐Ÿณ Free boat shuttle on the hourโ€ฆ.the list goes on! This was one of the nicest Sheratons I have ever stayed at. I also loved the products they used for their toiletries (Shampoo, conditioner & bar soaps were all super quality)! The service was impeccable. The staff did not HESITATE to go out of their way to make sure you were happy and satisfied.

One of the most disappointed marriot experience hotel. The room got nice view, but very aged. We Got woke up with crazy loud construction noise at 8am in Saturday morning, with few complains being made โ€ฆ but the hotel seemed to continue the construction, and and asked us to be moved to another room with saying this construction needed to be done. They could have checked us in different wings that does not have construction, but they did not. Said reason being hotel not open enough rooms and mistakenly communicate wrongly w contractor. Which somehow talking to us with the โ€˜who cares attitudeโ€™ โ€ฆ. Like this common and customer should be okay with this. The next day we got moved to another room. No noise , but the shower heater did not work. So yeah showered in cold. The staff were not nice and welcome to us. The apologies were rather not sincere. Will not going back to stay at this hotel again. If you are looking for nice service, and customer caring, pls consider different hotel. Warning for elite bonvoy w status- do not expect to be well treated here.

My stay was great, the best I had in BKK. Staff was very polite and spoke good english, room was nice (a tiny bit old), view was great. Good location. Unfortunate they don't have a spa or a good restaurant, but otherwise everything is good. A bit too strict on the mask policy, but some might see this as an advantage. I also forgot something in the room, and was able to pick it up the next day.

I am pretty sure it is an old hotel after looking at the curtain style, bathroom style, reading light style... ๐Ÿ˜‚ But the rooms are good, good mattress, clean rooms, safe lockers, iron box and ironing pad (some of the new hotels do not have them nowadays).. Got a nice river view room. Good and fast room service, food as well as cleaning. Overall, very nice and staying here for 10 days. This is third day and everything is consistent.

Great rooms with stunning river view. Facing Iconsiam, a new mall on the opposite side of the river easily accessible by shuttle boat. Just outside the hotel, you can have fresh and delicious Thai street food. We had our dinner there every night during our stay. The hotel surprised my husband with a lovely birthday cake. It was a nice touch, very much appreciated. Rooms are clean, hotel staff are friendly and helpful. Buffet breakfast is good. A place to come back to and to recommend to friends.

Fantastic location across the river from Icon Siam. Though their river shuttle was down when we were visiting, so that was disappointing and the public ferries that serviced our hotel stopped at 7:00 PM. Service was top notch. Everyone spoke fluent English and everyone treated us with the utmost respect and kindness. Breakfast was very lackluster. I would suggest NOT paying for the breakfast option and just eating at Icon Siam. It will probably be cheaper, and it will definitely be more enjoyable. Rooms were alright. If you splurge a bit and get one of the suites, your room will be gorgeous. If you're just in a regular double room, the views are nice but the rooms are quite average. All in all, probably a 3.5/5 experience, but since half stars aren't an option, 4/5 is more or less fair.

Good rooms and location. The gym is excellent for a hotel gym. The food is pretty solid, and it's located pretty evenly between Chinatown and Icon Siam, which is an oddly endearing combination. 3 stars, because the front desk is run by incompetent nitwits. At any reasonable hotel, check in takes under three minutes, and check out is either online, or a twenty second process where you hand in keys. This hotel took over 45 minutes to accomplish those two simple tasks. From printed contracts, to unorganized lines, to a general nonchalance regardless of line length, this was hideously mismanaged. Given that this is the only real direct interaction with the hotel, to find it so lacking is a large disappointment.

Staying in Royal Orchid Sheraton is top value for money. Its a hotel which feels like home. The staff hospitality should be applauded at. They are kind and extremely helpful. Always a smile on their faces. The ambience of the hotel is pleasant although a bit jaded. The room overlooks a spectacular view of the Chao Praya river and the city. One could spend hours just enjoying the view from their room. There is a free ferry shuttle service which ferries across to the famous mall IconSiam where you can enjoy different types of delicious cuisine and shop till you drop. Outside the hotel, one can experience local massage parlours and dine at a variety of restaurants. I stayed in this charming hotel for 2 weeks and it is always going to be my first choice of hotel whenever I visit Bangkok.

Older property with great views and great service. Rooms are fairly small and do show their age, though. Also, the barges run up the river at night and are quite audible. Excellent breakfast with option to sit by the river. Just don't look what's floating by... Be prepared for the crows to pick on the windows - they seem to see their reflection.

Comfortable rooms. Fantastic view Great buffet breakfast. Good location. Helpful staff. Clean. Good amenities. But I would suggest: -Less laborious check-in would be great; took about 30 mins -Toilet paper that doesn't tear you open would be nice -Fridge maintenance so that it's fairly cold would be ideal.

This place has a very nice location overlooking the River with regular boat trips to the other side so it's easy to access Icon Siam. It's typical Sheraton with its grand mezzanine lobby in subdued browns and the restaurants and pools are very good (4 out of five stars). The staff however seem a little tired much like the building and decor itself. You get the impression that this team has been trotting out the same routine since the 70s and are pretty bored with the whole charade. The rooms are comfortable but starting to show their age and shock of all shocks, no bum gun! For me, if spending 5* money this place misses the mark by a sliver and I would rather stay at one of the other plethora of choices in the city.

After much deliberation, we decied to stay here for our 10th Wedding Anniversary, and what an amazing decision that was. We stayed in the Presidential or 'Royal Orchid' suite and it was immense. 263sq metres of awesome, and the team i.e Mathieu, Natthaya (on our private cruise) were fantastic in organising complimentary meals upon meals, a private cruise and the service from ALL staff was immense. Everyone knew our names, everyone was courteous, everyone went above and beyond and Orhun (the Manager) made an effort to greet us on arrival. The meals were incredible, filet steak was unreal, lobster was best I've ever eaten (and 13 years in Thailand I've eaten my fair share of lobster) and their boat was 'out of service' due to the plandemic, but they took us out on the boat for a private sunset cruise with Champagne and Canopes. Would highly recommend a stay here. I usually stay at the Intercontinental when I'm in Bangkom, and I am a stickler for changing venue after having great service, but these guys were just impeccable. Can't knock it, will be back and thanks again.

Staff are attentive polite, efficient, warm and welcoming, building has the character of an air craft carrier, sturdy, secure efficient. Room service is the best of steaks, so much good food. A well oiled machine and experienced crew ensure that one part of your vacation or conference will be perfect, the hotel.

The hotel is clean and comfortable, and as detailed by other reviewers, rather dated. I stayed here many many years ago and it was perfect, but it has declined for a few reasons. The location and views are still great. Many of the staff are lovely. But what puts me off staying again at the moment is the level of noise coming from the river - especially at night with party boats sailing up and down. Once it's seen a refurb (including sound-proofing), I'll be back.

The best place for staycation in town. The hotel is very well maintained. The junior suite has a great view on the Chaowpraya River. One of the best things here is an iconic garden next to the Portuguese Embassy. It has a swiming pool and shady space for lying down to enjoy warm wind. It is relatively quiet and peaceful. Food is superb. Services are of the finest. It could be crowded during long holidays. Though there are plenty of rooms, reservation is highly recommended.

Only stayed overnight however found it to be a really nice hotel. Location right on the river with beautiful views from the room. Free shuttle offered by iconsiam right next to the hotel. Iconsiam is a luxury shopping center worth visiting. Room was comfortable however shower didnโ€™t have a good flow for us. Housekeeping installed a new one which improved it slightly but nothing like pressures we had experienced in other hotels.

Great value and service! Not sure what the other reviews were talking about - check in was super easy and with status, got an upgrade and lounge access. The building itself is clearly on the older side, but no complaints! The room was perfect, bedding comfortable, great views of the river, easy access to water taxis, China town, etc. The lounge was excellent - one of the best in terms of food/view Iโ€™ve seen.

Don't forget to use สœแดแด›แด‡สŸส™oสŸสŸส.แด„แดm when booking a hotel. They compare hundreds of booking websites and typically will have rooms much cheaper compared to others! Thank me later! This hotel is one of the most well known in this area. I have been staying here for years. If you decide to stay here you won't regret it. Staff are attentive polite, efficient, warm and welcoming, building has the character of an air craft carrier, sturdy, secure efficient. Room service is the best of steaks, so much good food. Beautiful room and view. Beds are American firm but super soft by Thai standards which was a nice change from most hotels here which have beds like bricks. Nice bar and several restaurants on premises. River City is next door and there is a free shuttle across the river to Iconsiam (big mall). Pool and Spa. No microwave but there is a mini fridge, large closet and bathtub.

I have spent many nights in Marriott group hotels and particularly in Sheraton. This one is one a sadly bad experiences. Not welcoming service, old facilities, poor food offer (after third night I went to Starbucks nearby. Better food). Reservation over Bonvoy app are not noticed: long check in and not properly organized. Membership isnโ€™t respected in any way. You can find much better options around for the price. Location is great and the boat service. For this still 3 star.

  • 5/5 Jason M. 3 years ago on Google
This hotel often gets stars knocked off by other reviewers because of the rooms & dated decor but I'm happy to give it 5 stars. Here's why... - location is great, on the river, across from IconSiam mall, taxis take you from the door to anywhere, other food places & cafes dotted outside - check in & check out smooth and easy - 2 pools, 1 of which (the garden pool) is a little oasis away from the city. I live in Bangkok city and it's rare to stay in the city and feel like you're not in it. Their garden pool is relaxing and quiet - awesome food. In fact, the best fish & chips I've had outside of England (lunch at the garden pool). Breakfast has more than enough choices for all tastes - thai green curry, fried rice with shrimp, pork buns, eggs, bacon, pastries etc etc. - our room was high on the 22nd floor with a stunning view across the Chao Phraya River. No, the rooms and hotel are not as glamorous as their Marriott Marquis hotel in the city or the Millennium Hilton across the river but they are totally adequate for a good stay. Wifi, air con, bed comfort were all excellent though. If you're expecting and need the most stunning decor then don't stay here. If you want a great stay on the river, great location, friendly staff, nice food, good facilities (gym, pools, spa etc), clean & adequate-enough rooms, good wifi, good air con, 2 relaxing pools to choose from, then don't hesitate to book!

Crowded at the end of the year (Dec 31). Feel like level of service mind had dropped from when checking-in On Dec 30. Apart from that, everything was fine. Working from hotel on Dec 30. When I was tired of work, just looked out of the window and gazing out to the river... kinda relaxing. Breakfast was okay. Yum glass noodles was too sour and not spicy enough for Thai.

Excellent hotel, very well located and with an outstanding team to assist. I had a wonderful week at Sheraton. The view from the room was amazing. One thing I would also like to highlight is the continental breakfast buffet served. Complete and with local and international flavors. Extremely recommended.

  • 5/5 Hyunjung K. 2 months ago on Google New
You can easily get to Icon Siam using the hotel's private boat, and BTS accessibility is also good. Small streets, small shops, a neighborhood atmosphere close to local life, a fancy shopping center for tourists, and a small cafe with drip coffee. The swimming pool in the hotel has a maximum depth of 3 m for adults only, which is why I like it the most.

  • 4/5 Sajag K. 2 months ago on Google New
The rooms are pretty with a posh location. However, the service is poor as nobody answers the phones for housekeeping. Had to use the Marriott app for service requests. The service via the app is better than the phone provided in the room because the requests on the app can be tracked. No track record of unattended phone calls though.

Excellent location, service and quality. Mr. A, who has worked there for over 30 years, was so hospitable and generous. Would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Bangkok. Some of the rooms have the best views of Icon Siam and the Chao Phraya river. Includes pool, fitness center, several great restaurants, ferry service and more.

A bit old classic hotel. Spacious room with lovely river view. Breakfast was soso, variety food but nothing to fancy. We got 1000bath credit hotel, we spend the credit at lobby lounge that very nice. Front desk staff very helpful, they allowed us to early check in in the morning and late check out at 4pm. Thank you!

Stayed on the 21st floor , room was ok though tired, great view of the river, not cleaned properly , tooth brush plastic and tooth pick in drawer found , light inside wardrobe doors not work .and personally don't like not having the toilet bum sprayer is much more hygienic than paper alone . Plus sides staff are extremely friendly and helpfull, speak both Thai &English , Views from room are fantastic both at night and during the day . Very limited menu at present due to covid protocols and only the Italian menu available. The use of hotel computers and printers on the 1st floor is very good .and the pools I will try tomorrow . There is a 7 11 very close by with excellent somtam street food in the evenings .

Staycation for 4 nights during 12-17 Dec & had a lovely stay. Nice riverview from the room which they call Wat Arun view (opposite side with Iconsiam) Comfy stay & very clean even the room is old style. Reception is super friendly & helpful. Housekeeping is working very hard to keep the room clean. Staff at feast restaurant for breakfast was on and off which i guess due to staffs shortage. I found some staffs are very attentive across all the guess & some are selective to foreigners. However, I really satisfied with my stay.

Amazing location right by the Chao Phraya River. I was amazed at the stunning view from my room. And it was my very first time in this, especially this district. The hotel has an amazing breakfast buffet selection. I appreciated the hotel receptionist and the rest of the team that made my last evening in Bangkok filled with a happy memory. See you again.

Very disappointed with Feast restaurant (Lunch international buffet). - booking the table at the terrace with river view, but at the first time they assigned is inside not far from the entrance. - no sashimi and sushi is not good. - the price is not included drink so everyone have to pay for drinking water. - seafood on ice have only small shrimp and mussel. (No oysters, crab and other) In brief, it is not worth for its price. (Just my opinion)

Great location on Chao Phraya River right across from Iconsiam with a shuttle boat across at the adjacent pier. And, commuter shuttle boats down the river to Wat Arun, Wat Pho, and Grand Palace right next door. We were upgraded to a high floor and got a great view of the river. 24-hr gym and biz center really help if you have to work. The adult pool in the garden had four Peacocks roaming around that was pretty cool too.

Whilst this is quite an old building the inside is very modern. The rooms are well appointed and have amazing views of the river. The hotel staff are excellent and very helpful. Food in the restaurants is first class. Drinks are pricey but that's to be expected. It's in a great location on the river right next to the Icon Siam shuttle service. Excellent overall and well worth a visit

I went there for a business meeting. Rooms are good with view of the river. Staff is very friendly but limited knowledge of English so communication is a little difficult. Not many options for vegetarians for breakfast or overall. Rooms have bathtubs but no bubble bath! Carry your own ๐Ÿ˜€. Try the poolside dinner right next to the river with cruise ferries sailing by. I had a great stay overall

Great location, great staff, so much to do here. The hotel is across the river from the luxury mall, ICONSIAM. There is a free ferry to cross the river and easy to get around bangkok.. The hotel is a little outdated and can use some improvements but overall is doable. I definitely recommend this hotel.
