I would give this establishment a solid 5-star rating based on its exceptional location, immaculate room cleanliness, and top-notch service. Situated a mere 2-3 minutes' stroll from the MRT, convenience is certainly at its pinnacle. Furthermore, the proximity of a 7-Eleven right next to the hotel adds an extra layer of convenience for any last-minute essentials. One can rest assured they will never go hungry during their stay here. The hotel is cocooned within a vibrant culinary scene, teeming with food vendors from the early hours of dawn till the stroke of midnight. This culinary abundance ensures that guests can always satisfy their cravings without straying too far from the comfort of their accommodation.

You are paying for the location. The rooms are basic. The staff is nice. The breakfast is mediocre. The 4 star is for the location and it was surprisingly quite in my 3 night stay. It is cheap and good location, cannot beat that. If you are looking for a fancy room, you wont get that here. Great for exploring of foot, so many attractions walking distance from here. Even walked to Grand Palace.

Perfect location! In the middle of Chinatown and just few minutes walks from MRT station. The room is clean and comfy. I stayed in the room with no windows, and still I was enjoyed staying here. Staffs are supportive and quick service despite overwhelming tourists. Awesome rooftop view. They have a bar, small pool and sunbathing bed. Will stay here again for sure!

In the heart of Chinatown. I enjoyed it. Big room, massive bathroom and very modern feel. Not that hard of a bed like most Thai hotels. My only criticism is my room didn't have a window. Many rooms didn't. The gym is good. The roof top pool and bar are nice for sunset and to see the skyscraper lights come on. I got a great deal on Agoda.

A hotel where everything is pretty much good enough and the location is the best there is if you like the hectic area of China town. The rooms are not new and a bit worn but I would say they are very typical for this part of the world. Super nice view of the skyline with skyscrapers and the river from the roof top bar, most of the rooms don't have any view to talk about. They seem to be very strict about their check in times but it might also be that i've just been unlucky. Close to an underground (MRT) station. Back in 2019 breakfast was served on the M-floor and was the best i've had in Thailand, now it's served on one of the top floors with great view but sadly the food is just average.

Excellent location in the heart of Chinatown! In the evening once you exit the lobby you'll be in the middle of the bustling night market! Wat mangkon mrt is nearby! Lotus supermarket and 711 also nearby. Rooms are clean and have enough electric outlets. They provide free water dispensers at every floor. Coin operated Washing machines available. Pool is very small is often overcrowded.

Easiest parking in Bangkok China Town. Ate the best food right near by. I'll leave a review of the restaurant as well.

The room was very dark and had a really bad smell. The windows were dirty and couldn't open. The staff at reception was expeditive and not friendly. We booked and paid the room in advance but left 10 minutes after we arrived as we really didn't feel good in this place. The rooftop didn't match the pictures and our expectations either. When we gave the key back to reception and told them we were leaving, they told (didn't ask) us to go sit down. We didn't enjoy the way they commanded us so we told them that we were leaving and not waiting. They didn't seem to care.

The room wasn’t the best as did not have even windows, but I really enjoy the panoramic views from the rooftop pool and cocktails. Those nights where really really humid and hot they a swim was really appreciated.

My partner and I had stayed at this hotel on 12 November 2023 and what a disappointment. Upon checking in, the female staff was not very friendly. This was extremely surprising to us, as we have stayed at many hotels in Thailand and staff was always friendly and smiling. We had booked a room with a king size bed and a city view and was given two double beds and a partial window view. This is not what we had paid for or requested. In addition, the bed was extremely hard and very uncomfortable! Otherwise, the location of this hotel is great and in the heart of Chinatown.

Well situated. We stayed here for one week and loved the rooftop pool (the Lemonade at the bar was really good too!). If you want to see all the sights in Bangkok, this hotel is located in a good central spot to get a Grab or even walk (if you don't mind walking for 20-30 minutes) to a lot of must-dos. I would stay again. The staff was wonderful too.

Good hotel with helpful and sympathetic staff. We had a nice room overlooking the river, that was well equipped and maintained. Room service for meals provided a good flavoursome choice at a good price. The highlight for us was the rooftop pool with it's magnificent view over Bangkok at dawn and dusk. We thought we would enjoy the street food but got sadly let down with the flavours and quality. It is a victim of its own popularity unfortunately.

We stay here for 3 nights and love it. Altho it is right above Chinatown, it is not noisy once you are inside your room. Bed is comfy, room and bath is clean, aircond is cold and shower pressure is good. Nothing much we could ask for after a tired day. In the morning, the traffic is not that bad and the security in the lobby will assist you to spot the car you book via Grab / Bolt and flag them onto the road side for boarding. Food choices are abundance and 7 Eleven is right below. Highly recommend and we will no doubt choose to stay here again.

Got to be the best location, right in the middle of Chinatown. Rooftop pool is a great break and provides awesome views of Bangkok. Rooms were standard, nothing special and a little run down.

Very comfortable hotel in the heart of China Town in Bangkok. Rooms are well appointed with comfy beds and shower room ensuite. Great buffet breakfast. Staff are helpful and have luggage storage system in place with somewhere to change, as we had an evening flight. Stayed there on G Adventures holiday

Hotel ideally located 3 min walk from the metro station, on the very same street where there is a night market every night. Room is of a decent size with great bed, swimming pool is very small but super refreshing after spending the day in the heat. Our preferred choice when staying in Bangkok in terms of value for money, location and kindness of the staff.

We were extremely impressed by Next Patcharapol who was working at the front desk. My grandma left her handbag on bus 73 and Next called up the bus company, managed to locate the bag within 1 hour and liaised bout 20 phone calls between us and the bus driver to arrange a convenient pick up location for us to collect the handbag within 24 hours with the manager escorting us to the meet up point. We were very impressed by his customer service skills, he deserves a raise and/or promotion. We really appreciated his help and highly recommend this hotel to others.

Stayed here as part of a G Adventures tour, location is great right in Chinatown. Breakfast was ok. Hotel a bit dated and in need of a refresh. Highlight is the rooftop pool and bar. Small gym which I used that was pretty good as well. Refreshing to see a hotel with water coolers where you can refill your bottle, rather than wasting more unnecessary plastic.

Great roof view (with pricey drinks though), rooms were spacious and clean. in the heat of China town, so perhaps avoid if you don’t like busy streets, but come if you do! Breakfast was decent. Due to busy roads, getting taxis in and out is a bit slow.

This is a well situated hotel in Bangkok close to most of the places in Bangkok and friendly staff, always willing to help and making the experience pleasurable beyond the ways you thought. We will be using and recommending them in the future if we ever return.

All around good value in the heart of Chinatown. The room was clean and we'll appointed, in good shape. Our only complaint was that it was dark, even with all the lights on. The rooftop pool and bar was doing a lively business during our visit.

It's a "mass production" type of hotel in Chinatown. You won't love it. It gets the job done and prices are good. Avoid coming to hotel with a taxi at rush hour. Chinatown has the some of the most colourful of Bangkok's traffic. Breakfast buffet is quite good. The rooftop pool is nice, could be much better.

Perfect for a short stay to get to know Bangkok. Connection via public transportation is good. Airport about one hour. A lot of attractions are really close by. A boat ride on the river by public transport is recommended a good and cheap way to see Bangkok.

Great location, useful staff , comfortable room, nice rooftop. All good until the last night when lots of water started to flow from ceiling. It kept me up from 2 to 4am when it eventually got fixed by maintenance on duty. The hotel gave me only a free breakfast as minimal compensation sadly.

A rather dated hotel which requires extensive upgrade. At best a 3 star hotel. Room not cleaned after 1st night so had to request fresh towels. Staff a bit sombre. Pool not suitable for swimming as small and elongated. Great location. Beer extortionate.

We booked four rooms and they managed to arranged each two rooms connected which is a big bonus. Cool staff with high efficiency during check in time but really for check in and hesitating in smiling. Where is Thai Smile attitude but this generally happening in Bangkok. The charming from people has been dismissing. Pity. The furniture should be upgraded and lighting should be more, too dark in general. We love the location and it's clean rooms! Overall, it's worth for the money.

Very nice hotel, great location in the centre of Chinatown and walking distance from railway station. The rooms are perfect, the staff is very nice and helpful. The highlights were the gym (have a good set of machines and free weights) and the rooftop pool. The hotel provides additional towels for gym/pool and free drinking water on all floors.

Pro's: Room amenities were excellent and very clean! Comfortable mattress, salted water swimming pool on the rooftop with a nice view. Convenient to get around and to eat. TV was big. Wifi was unstable. Con's: the room was NO SOUNDPROOF! you can hear your neighbors opening and closing the door, TV, and the cleaning lady/ladies were noisy(she must be very into cleaning). At 12pm something, you will hear the telephone from miles....I guess it was "CHECKOUT time madame!" The room does not have windows (maybe only my room 713πŸ€”πŸ€·) It is suitable for a business man/woman who doesn't stay in the room from 8-5pm.

A decent hotel in the centre of Chinatown. Stayed at the hotel for 2 days and was a comfortable one. Liked:- The security arrangements where everything is automated. Bang on the City Centre with easy access to most places to visit in the City. Well connected by cab and rail. Good customer reception centre. Very well kept and clean accommodation and linen (kudos to the housekeeping team) Did not like:- Visited the hotel during winters and hence the swimming pool required to be heated up. This facility was not available in the hotel. The flip side of being in the City Centre is that the place is quite polluted and open spaces might not be comfortable to breathe smooth. Another problem that I faced was that the road was single way that is a one way road and hence to reach the hotel you had to take a longer route.

Good value hotel in busy Chinatown. Rooms a good size and unbelievably quiet considering the location. The staff were all very helpful, housekeeping would clean the room even late in the day. Great rooftop bar/pool although it’s not massive and does get busy. Also not the cheapest place to drink. Good location very close to the new MTR station which is only a few minutes walk away.

Service is bad. They didn't notify that you needed to find paid parking. I would skip this hotel even if you get a good deal. EDIT. I don't accept the PR speak. I don't feel listened to. What are some concrete things that you will do to fix my problem? I spent 840 baht in parking. Will you pay for it?

Good clean and cheap hotel. Staff was helpful and polite. Good English spoken. In great location. Train station is just few minutes away. Street is very busy with lots of shops street food and few shopping centres around. Roof top view is amazing, was there for new years eve lots of fireworks! Overall a great hotel for the price!

Clean hotel in the middle of Chinatown. Free parking, A/C, fridge, safe, free and fast WiFi, flat screen TV, water boiler in the room. Swimmingpool and bar on the roof, great view at the river.

We went to watch the sunset at the rooftop bar & pool. Cocktail hour was decent; you could order selected cocktails along with sides like onion rings or chips for 150thb which is a decent promo. My mojito was quite good & the bar man was very friendly and welcoming.

Stayed one night. Room was plain and boring in design. Bed was comfortable. A very stingy amount of toiletries was provided for 2 persons. The price-quality ratio of the room is on the low side. The worst part of the hotel waa the car park. Really windy and narrow path up. It was hard to navigate, especially for the big car (SUV) we drove, and felt like a death trap. The check-in process was also hopeless. We weren't allowed to park our car inside the car park until we checked-in. After our check-in, we had to go back to our car again to drive it up to a proper parking lot. Then we couldn't get into the hotel from the car park because the check-in desk did not give us an access card. And when we got the access card, it only worked on the entrance on the first floor. Which meant we had to take a lift down from our car parked on the second floor before we could take another lift to our hotel room. Really tiring and a waste of time. This is not the worst hotel I have stayed in. But I certainly will not be back.

In the very centre of the fantastic Chinatown. Best location possible. Small but nice swimming pool at the rooftop, where you can admire the best look of Bangkok skyline, especially at nightime. We had a room with no window, but nice, clean and comfortable. Nice bathroom. We appreciated the drinking water refill service. Staff very kind and professional.

Hotel from reception is nothing crazy but looks modern and open, however the rooms are nice. Windows a little small however better than nothing and the only 2 USB ports (please add more) didn't work. However the reception staff where amazing sorting out Covid tests, taxis and food recommendations. The room top pool is an amazing touch and the roof bar is great. Overall I would easy give it a 4, please just add more USB ports to the rooms maybe add more natural light bulbs and less "big" curtains to let more natural light in. I would stay here again :)

We had a two day stay at the Royal Bangkok and are totally happy with this choice! The location is superb to enjoy the local foodmarket (it is literally in front of the hotel), rooms are clean and have a nice view above Chinatown. We were at the 10th floor and it was quiet too even with the streets full of people. The staff was very helpful and organized taxi/transportation for us and speak English fluently (all of them - big plus!). Warm recommendation for European/Western travelers as well :)

Great location. Right on the main strip. Great to walk around. Parking available but maximum clearance of 1.6m. Please check your car. Some rooms don't have windows. Just ask them.

  • 5/5 Mike S. 1 year ago on Google
The Hotel Royal Bangkok is a great value and incredible location. This is our number 1 place to stay now in Bangkok. Right in the heart of Bangkok Chinatown provides cheap street food all time of day and night. At 5pm every night the streets fill with even more additional stalls. Next door is a 7-11 giving access to drinks (beer only available certain hours due to Thailand laws) and a convenient ATM. The MRT (Metro) is just a short walk down the street giving access to all of Bangkok. The hotel also has launderette with 3 washing machines and 2 dryers on our floor with wash at 100 baht per load and dryer 10 baht for every 5 minutes (10 baht coins available at reception). Hotel bar and pool on rooftop with a nice view of the city (not a sky bar experience but a great evening place to chill). The only challenge we had in 5 days was getting our Grab ride to the airport at 9pm with all the people, traffic, and delay (add 10-15 minutes for the ride to deal with traffic between 5:30pm to 11pm).

Dark and dingy rooms. Had a room with no window and it was depressing. Put some better lighting in there. Four separate light switches just for the bathroom. Had to change rooms twice because we were given a room that hadn't been cleaned first, and then a room with non-existent AC. WiFi was useless and had to rely on my portable hotspot. Basic gym and pool. Redeemed somewhat by the location and friendly service.

Clean quite room good size great city view down to China town from room. Rooftop views are amazing at Day or night. Gym was small but ok I didn't try the breakfast Right smack in the middle of the action in China town. Great busy place to stay.

Fantastic hotel in the heart of Chinatown. Staff were brilliant and so helpful. Room was lovely and they gave us a better room than we'd booked no extra charge. The pool was really cool and I can't recommend it enough!!

Good service and rooms. The best thing was the swimming pool with very good views. It is also very well located in the middle of chinatown and not to far from the center. The only bad thing was the breakfast, because it didn't has much variety.
