I would definitely NOT recommend this hotel. It is a 2 or 3 star at most. The rooms have a terrible musky smell. The bathrooms are extremely old and poorly kept - a shower curtain that has been stained brown at the bottom? Really unacceptable. The water was cold as well. We found a cockroach in the room. China town is not a great area and really smells poorly. I would not recommend the area or the hotel. It is really poorly kept.

I only came to the hotel to go to the revolving restaurant on the top floor. It offers a nice view of Bangkok, and the menu has a large variety of options from varying cuisines. The service was very good, and the price matches the view - it is quite expensive, e.g. over 350 baht for a pint of Budweiser, which came with a smaller size glass of beer extra β€˜for free’.

Had a pleasant stay here. The rooms were very comfy and spacious, ( 3 single beds , 1 king bed ) , and 1 toilet and 1 bathroom. The bathroom ceiling is quite low , so people of tall stature could have a hard time using it. Staff are also very initiative and polite. They are swift to assist us in issues regarding the hotel. We were given complimentary drinks to be claimed at the 17th floor bar, and the night view is absolutely stunning! Definitely recommend.

This would have been the place to be back in it's prime! Large older hotel, staff are top notch, rooms are well appointed and clean! And from the higher floors the view is stunning. The pool is VERY small and not super clean, gym well equipped but dated. They charge for water. As for cost you can get a room just as nice a few blocks a way for a 3rd the price! W22 is a great option.

Location and view are great. The rooms are not bad (but hardly good either). I wasn’t very impressed with the service or general demeanor of the staff.

Went to the 360 Sky Bar for a cocktail and a quick bite. It is on the 25th floor and, surprisingly, is not open for lunch. It opens at 3pm. It takes 2hrs to do 360o. Great view over Bangkok.

Positives Check in was relatively quick, though annoyingly they insisted on a 1,000B cash deposit which is something many hotels do in Thailand and should be banned. The room was spacious and had great views over a large swathe of Bangkok. The beds and pillows were super comfortable (9.0 for the beds!). There was a comfy sofa and a large TV with lots of internet options. There was a large walk-in cupboard for storage and it contained a safe. The shower had good pressure and the water temperature was easily controlled. There was hot water in the sink which is fairly unusual in Thai hotels making shaving easy. The room was very quiet with very little outdoor or hotel noise penetrating the room. The hotel facilities were good. We loved the revolving restaurant on the 25th floor despite the high prices and the lobby bar was a great place to meet friends over a beer or sing karaoke if that’s your thing! The hotel is well located at the northern end of Chinatown a short walk from the main action and about an 8 minute walk to the MRT Metro train. negatives There was not enough room furniture- no vanity table with mirror for my wife, no desk and no bedside table by the main bed. There was also no ceiling lighting, which meant it was dingy after dark and hard to read a book. The electric power sockets were mostly in the wrong place for modern use. The bathroom was very small and anyone over about 1.8M would not be able to stand up in the shower. The prices in the hotel’s bars and restaurants were expensive.

Must be one of the biggest hotels in Chinatown. It looks fabulous from outside but inside the rooms are old, built in old style like in early 90s and has not been renovated for a long time I think. Rooms are spacious with great city/river view but the sanitary ware is aged, especially the shower, and the old aircon is a bit noisy. Breakfast is available from 7.00 at 399 baht per person, but you may receive a buy 1 get 1 voucher at check-in. You also get a welcome drink coupon at their bar on 17/F with super cool view of the city. As it is an old hotel built in early 90s, it seems to be a bit scary and misterious. When I went down from 15/F to Lobby, the elevator suddenly opened at 3F, it was very dark and nobody there, dont know what happened in 3F but still feel the goosebumps from remembering that moment.

Sure, it's touristy but it's a great spot -- you know what you'll get. Terrific view/deck bars, good food, drink in lobby. Nice staff. It's in center of Chinatown and Metro about 10 minute walk. Lots of services and dining close-by.

Horrible hotel, where to start we drove to the hotel, so had to use the 5 story underground car park.... advise against this strongly as the lift only stops on two of the parking levels. Bare in mind they charge you to use car parking? Secondly the stench of sewage down there is horrific, they also force guests to park at the bottom. Then walking in this heat trap car park up two levels to the lift. The lobby id not so bad but the room is like a 1950's hotel room dated beyond all belief. Neither of the televisions work either. Food also poor selection and sub par standard

Good service . Nice people. Great bar on the 17th floor! The hotel is not very new, but everything is clean, the noise from the street is not heard. Nice to walk around the streets of the quarter. On foot you can walk to River City and there is a pier, you can take a free ferry ride to iconsiam.

The menu at the internet is outdated, the menu in the elevator is outdated. So you will be surprised with the presented menu card. By the way don't expect that the items on the menu card are available. Happy hour is not like what they present on their website. So this is a big disappointment. Then again the view is beautiful. If they would make more effort in you as a guest, this would be a wonderful place.

Great location and helpful staff. However the room was dated and while not completely dirty it was clearly not thoroughly cleaned. Dead cockroach on the carpet floor of the corridor next to my door for example, which was not removed by the cleaning staff in the three days I stayed. Also the Chinese restaurant downstairs is tasteless and more expensive than similar locations around.

Pros - Starting price for the superior room is quite affordable considering the location which is right next to Chinatown high street Cons - Someone in the hotel management forgot to purchase topper mattresses for the beds and in essence you are laying right on the main mattress springs. Would be an easy fix to invest on decent topper mattresses but then again the old sagging mattresses beneath would need to be replaced as well so why bother - Internet connection need to be reconnected every time you have stopped using your device. That would be an easy fix by updating the server software to this millennium but then again maybe the hotel management have more important issues to be concerned about - Overall rooms can be hit and miss, some of them have poor soundproofing due to thin walls and some others not, as well as some have noisy AC fan while others don't. Room sizing between same category rooms can vary greatly. - Right, there's a pool, but just big enough that you can say that. You can dip in but any kind of swimming would be a stretch. There's also a bar where you can get some sunshine but only high bar chairs making it a bit unpleasant place to spend time.

Great location in China Town near stalls, restaurants and cafΓ©s. Great "Deluxe City View" large room with very large windows overlooking the city. Seemingly recently renovated, very comfortable bed, clean carpets. The bathroom is quite a bit dated and could benefit from renovation with more modern design. Still 5* for my room 1501as fantastic view via overlarge windows. Diner at the Sky 360 rotating restaurant. Cocktail 1+1 happy hour from 4PM to 6PM (300 baht one), the long island iced tea was OK. The food was fairly priced for the place.

The location of the hotel is very very good. I live pver 1 year in Bangkok now. The problem that I had was, that the Grand China Hotel is very expensive for that what you get, in comparison to other hotels. The Furnishing is very old, especially the bathroom.

Massive rooms. Shower in bath and not suitable for tall people. Hotel is old and in need of an upgrade. Situated in the very vibrant China Town area. Very close to loads of attractions. Staff very helpful and friendly. We requested a wake-up call but they forgot. Restaurant on top is a must do and see. It spins to give you a 360 view of the city. Not cheap but worthwhile.

This 4-star hotel, though still good, has seen better days. While spacious - the deluxe king room anyway - the furniture is a bit dated and streaks of bygone dust are very much visible. The surprisingly small bathroom has only a bathtub and an old stained shower curtain. The door on the table, which houses the fridge, came off its hinge easily though thankfully it could be put back. And when we first checked in the TV remote had dead batteries. Clearly, there hasn't been much investment in renovations. However, the bed was clean and comfortable, so that's a big plus. Also, staff was prompt and professional - reception, concierge, restaurant - with the exception of housekeeping. Although check in was at 1 pm, it took until nearly 2 pm for us to get into our room. I think Grand China hotel has two things going for it: the location and Skyview 360 restaurant. Otherwise, it is a bit overpriced for what you get. PS: The shops on the ground and second floors looked too quiet, and many stalls are empty. But there is a DHL inside and a post office across the street - super convenient!

Had an amazing stay. Great location. The staff is helpful and professional. Sure the rooms are "old fashioned" but my family and I were here to sleep, not stay all day in the rooms... and UGHHHH the beds are the most comfortable I've ever slept on. Very clean rooms. I wish I had time to try out the gym. There is a Starbucks and restaurant you have access to within the ground floor. Ground floor restaurant is ok. Breakfast is fine too. The helpers with suitcases are kind and welcoming as well: thank you Ey for your kindness. Thank you!

A real Chinese Hotel in China town. Easy accessible with public transports. Nice restaurants, Great views over Bangkok. Well equipped gym. They are very willing to help you. Our big room was an ocean of tranquility, although it's a very busy place, both location as the hotel itself.

Have stayed here a few times. Hotel has been renovated but it still has its charm. In the china town area street food is everywhere at night along with a crowd of people. China Town has its own older style and feel. The revolving resteraunt is intimate enough with friendly staff. Friendly staff with good english are a feature of this hotel.

Great location in yaowarat and convenient to try out plenty of good foods in the area. Room was refurbished and comfortable to stay in. Bathroom is decent and hot water works perfectly. Food in the ground floor is pretty good too.

Hotel is nice and located in the middle of Chinatown in Bangkok. Reception area is nice. Staff are unfortunately not that nice and far from helpful. I will never set a foot in this hotel again. Lots of other hotels in the same area. Pick one of those instead.

  • 3/5 Christian S. 1 year ago on Google
Rooms are spacious and some have up to 4 beds. The location is the best to explore Chinatown. But the hotel is old and it shows. It desperately needs renovation of the lobby and the rooms. Also, the buffet breakfast is rather average. Nothing to get excited about. Be forewarned too...if you lose your key card, they will charge you 300 baht, which seems ridiculous since the key card must cost them about 10 cents.

Middle of Chinatown. Not many foreigners stay here. But the location is the best hotel in Chinatown. Not too expensive. Several restaurants and bars. Rooftop rotating restaurant. Pool near top floor also. Lobby has A Starbucks and a free Thai street food restaurants with seating. Also a secret bar in the back by the parking lot entrance. This place has a pool table, CR and is built on scaffolding erected to provide a fire exit. Also great views of the entire city and river because there's no other tall buildings in the area

Returned to stay there after a gap of a few years, sad to find it now rundown and dirty. Breakfast was terrible, old cold, stale and only the cheapest ingredients. The rotating restaurant is very expensive compared to anywhere else. The saving grace was the lobby bar and live music. Cheesy but nice people and fun.

On our arrival in Thailand we choose the Grand China Bangkok for our first 2 nights. The Hotel is located in China Town. Around the Hotel are many small shops with chinese products. Room 3 because it is becoming old and the floor is with carpet. Staff 5 Price 5 in my case but the original price per night at the reception is to high Food we didn’t try Location 5 Overall recommendation if you book over the internet with a lower price.

Location good if u want mobile accessories and other electronic things because its in china town, rest are far away if u hv to go to shopping for mall all of those arleast 4 km from hotel, but if we think about price and facilities its value for money

I love that the hotel is in a beautiful Art Deco building, that alone is already special for me. The room we got was adequate and with a nice view. The previous reviews suggesting that the hotel is old and rundown might be from a long time ago as what we saw was quite up to date and well kept. Complimentary drinks to two locations were a nice surpise. The rotating restaurant was great -- closest one could get to the Old City. Prices are justified for the ambience and experience. Staff members were polite and helpful. Location is good!

The best hotel I ever stayed in Bangkok. Breakfast was no big deal but that due to covid. The 360 rotating restaurant, the sky bar and the rooms and ameneties are all superb!

I went for lunch at the 1st floor. The food tasted neutral but the place was air-conditioned and comfortable. It was a street food style. They had dimsum, dumplings, noodle soup, chicken rice, a la carte and pasta. Their prices were a little high but still okay. The soup that came with chicken rice was strange though. The good thing was I didn't feel MSG. Actually, the foods outside taste better but this place is more comfortable and convenient for taking a short rest. They also have a coffee shop and other shops at the hotel.
