Still the best curry crab in town, possibly on the planet. The two of us finished off a large curry crab order as well as the largest 600g river prawn available (1350 Baht) amongst other dishes. Definitely overate and ordered too much... And don't regret it one bit. This Somboon location is fairly new and very clean unlike some of their older locations, but don't worry, food is just as good. Service as excellent also, will be visiting again next time I stay at the Marriott down the street.

Somboon seafood is known for its fresh seafood, which is evident in its delicious fried crab in creamy mildly spiced curry sauce. The flavors in the curry sauce are well balanced, with just the right amount of spiciness and creaminess that complement the sweet and succulent crab meat perfectly. The dish is definitely a must-try for seafood lovers. The oysters in eggs dish is another standout dish that is worth mentioning. The dish features plump and juicy oysters that are lightly coated in a crispy egg batter, providing a satisfying crunch with each bite. The flavors are well balanced, with the egg batter adding a unique texture and flavor to the oysters. Even though the restaurant is known for its seafood, the meat dishes are equally impressive. The braised ribs for example, with their juicy and tender meat that falls right off the bone. The flavors in the sauce are rich and savory, making the dish a real treat for meat lovers. The service at the restaurant is prompt and courteous, with the staff providing a warm and welcoming atmosphere that adds to the overall dining experience. The attentive service ensures that diners are well taken care of and their needs are met.

We love the curry crab! But!! It comes too late.........when it comes, we are all already half full... that's why the service is not 5 star. But it's still recommended! Just make sure that your crab is coming as soon as the other dishes!

The oldest seafood restaurant in the center of silom. Food is always perfect and delicious. We visited this branch many times. It was a little bit expensive, but still ok.

We walked over to this restaurant from our hotel on the recommendation of a friend. I was very excited to try the fried curry crab. We walked in, we were seated promptly and the entire restaurant was very clean. Our server was quick to bring us drinks and take our order. We ordered fried calamari, sauté morning, glory, the large fried crab curry, two beers, one bottle of sake, And a side of rice. Everything came out pretty fast and almost at the same time. The morning glory was good. The calamari was good the crab tasted great, and the curry tasted great. My only complaint about the food is that the crab comes out with all the legs and shells intact. Which means you have to crack all of the shells in the curry so it’s a bit messy. Also, the crab meat itself was very sticky to the inside of the crab shells. So for me who is used to eating Dungeness crab with the meat tends to fall right out of the shell, I felt like this crab was a bit tedious and annoying to enjoy. I wish there was a way that they could extract the meat overall and mix that into the curry and just leave a few claws for you to crack open or something like that. If I went here again I probably wouldn’t order the crab because of the amount of work and mess involved, but it did taste great. One other thing that I feel, I should mention is that the staff stands right next to you and kind of stares at you while you’re eating which is kind of awkward. I know this is probably unique to where our table was positioned, but we felt like we were just under the microscope while we were picking up our crab meat , it was very awkward.

The food selection is expansive with focus on seafood. However, their vegetarian options are also really good. Very friendly staff. Quick service. Perfect for when you’re on the go and need food quick. The crab is the star of the show so if you have time definitely try it.

Was not prepared to take on the entire crab that day, so we ordered the curry crab where the crab meat has been taken out of the shells. It was really tasty. Another dish that you must try is the stew vermicelli with prawn. The braised pork ribs was very tender; the meat just comes off the bone. The food is generally good, as the ingredients were fresh. Give it a try if you are in Bangkok.

Somboon had great seafood. The crab curry wasn't bad but not fan of the curry and it wasn't spicy. I loved the squid, tasted great especially the accompanying sauce. Also really enjoyed the river prawns and the sauce it came with. We also got fried sea bass which was great. Everything definitely tasted fresh. Avoid the pineapple juice as it tasted like water. I don't know about the other juices.

Nice fresh seafood. The restaurant was newly renovated. Food was a bit too salty for me but edible with seafood sauce. Service was okay though crowded customers. Parking available at BUI building nearby.

What a great restaurant as soon as we arrived Bangkok. It is a memorable place that I desire for 3 years. The curry crab is amazing. The crab is alive and that is all the fresh that comes from. Morning glory is the authentic Thailand flavor in my heart as well.

We came to try the fried curry crab that was recommended by everyone and every online source. Sadly, it failed to live up to expectations. Not much to rave about for the fried curry crab. The only merit perhaps is the freshness of the crab. The prawn tunghoon was also lacking in taste, despite the aroma. However the ambience was nice and the staff was friendly and quick to serve and help

The restaurant was awarded Michelin Plate in the 2021 edition of MICHELIN Guide. The renowned signature dish is Fried Curry Crab created decades ago. The dining atmosphere is designed in Thai-Chinese Contemporary Style. You can enjoy varieties of fresh seafood, especially crabs, as well as delicated delicious Thai and Chinese cuisines such as Tom Yum Going, Stir Fried Morning Glory or Young Water Mimosa with garlic and chilli, Deep Fried Assorted Seafood Rolls, Roasted Pork Ribs with vegetable in gravy, Crab Fried Rice etc. Don't miss this legendary seafood restaurant if you visit Bangkok. The restaurant is established since 1969.

The best known and largest seafood restaurants in Bangkok. Some reviews have been quite unfavourable but you simply need to try it yourself and discover how wonderful the food is. The remarkable selection is fresh and alive! Highly recommended

Mixed feelings. Although they are famous for their curry crab please DO NOT GET THE CRAB. All you with get is scrambled eggs on top of one crab which you cannot get the meat from because is covered in eggs and a thick sauce. The waiters although nice literally stare at you the entire time. Quite uncomfortable. The shrimp, bass and squid are delicious though.

We visit this restaurant three times during our stay in Bangkok. They are one of the high end Chinese cuisine with wide range of options here. Love their curry crab and mongo sticky rice. However the mango sticky rice ran out if you came late at night. The staffs are nice and helpful. There was heavy rain one night when we finished meal. The team help to get taxi and escort us with umbrellas to the car. Supreme service. Big thanks.

Maybe I pick the wrong timing, maybe I am not the VIP, the best food of the night was the deep fried shrimp balls. The signature curry crab, however, was not hot when served and the "crab parts" seemed came from different crabs. Meanwhile pig legs were juicy and tasty

Really fantastic local seafood cuisine in Bangkok. This restaurant also has private rooms in the back if you want a little bit more privacy or even a bit more peace of mind from covid. Their river prawns are incredible. They're as big as lobsters. And if you get them in season, they're super sweet and tender. I would highly recommend!

The curry crab is the must order dish. We have been every time when we visit Bangkok. The tomyam is distinct hot and sour flavours. The big head prawn is juicy and fresh.

10/10 will come again. It’s not cheap. But damn worth the price. Can’t remember the exact names of the dishes. Chicken, frog leg, fish, crab, sotong, veg. All v nice.

Love the food here especially the curry crab. They have cut it for the customer but you can ask for the crab crasher. Tomyum is decent but not so sour, sea bass is perfectly fried. You cant miss the pork meatball, it’s surprisingly good and when you mix with the curry, it taste delicious! I will recommend to book before you coming. Menu recommendation : crab curry, tomyum and meatball

Had a great meal at this place. The fried crab curry is one of the best sellers of this restaurant. You have options of shell-less or shelled of the said viand. The waiters also are fluent in english so I did not have a hard time communicating. Their servings are quite big. The waiters are also attentive to your needs and the serving time is quite fast which was not I was expecting (but definitely a good thing)

Food: 5 | Service: 5 | Ambience: 4 | Value: N/A We enjoyed the fresh crabs and other dishes, especially the crab curry (sorry, not sure about the name) and crab fried rice. Ambience a bit hectic at dinner time as the place was packed. Can’t comment on the value for money, as the boss treated.

Very disappointed with the service here. It looks like they don’t even want to take your order. Waited 15 minutes after getting a table before anyone came to help us. The food was aight. Definitely overrated. The shrimp was the biggest disappointment.

Fried Curry Crab is a must-try, the sauce is immaculate and crab itself is so fresh! We also ordered the Glass Noodle Prawn which is surprisingly good! The noodle incredibly flavourful and the prawn good with the green chill sauce. The Braised Shark fin soup is a has a very ‘mild and soft flavour’ but the shark fin pieces are very generous!! Place is clean, air conditioned and great service. would definitely go back for the crab and prawn!

Finger licking good! The seafood is so fresh. All the menus were great. Their crab curry is on another level. You have to go there! 😋

The foods are ok, BBQ seafoods are not cooked properly or not fresh. Price are expensive, possibly the restaurant focuses on the group tourists. Not recommend.

Recommended by our tour guide. Good service, very clean and nice ambiance.. and food were all good. Seafood Fried rice was delicious and so the deep fried fish with sauce( in pictures) it was tasty and crispy even with the sauce. Grilled praws was just ok, we think we should have ordered the one with sauce. Highly recomemded, service was awesome, they’re very accommodating and reply right away when you need something!

It was a nice Thai restaurant! Curry crab meat was bit sweet, curry crab meat and morning glory were the best combination for us! Seems like rice bowl small size (rice cup) is for an adult, rice bowl large size is for 4-5 adults. All menus were delicious and staffs are kind! We’re 4 adults and 1 child and paid 2766 baht. It was a reasonable price!

Curry is hot but crab is cool and over cooked. Morning glory is very old and dishes is not delicious! Crab noodles is also sub-par standard, ask chef to try "Lemon Tree" one. The crabs quality and freshness are extremely sub-par the standard for this restaurant.

Youtubers’ recommendation are to be taken with discretion. We had dinner at Somboon Surawong as one of our dining partner saw a Thai Youtuber waxing lyrical about the food and its decent price. Firstly, the taste is average. The price is not expensive as the portion is small. We had ordered large portion as we had an big party. When the food arrived, it looked like it only can cater to a party of 4. Did not take pictures of all our food as they did not look interesting or the people, at the start of the table, may already dug in and finished the dish before it could be passed down. Note that our group were mostly ladies who did not have huge appetite. Most of the tables were occupied by tourist, including ours. So, that pretty much says something. Am not impressed and will not recommend.

One of the best Thai Seafood Diners in town. Legendary! The fresh oysters, the deep fried and sweet n sour fishes were amazing. The crab was cooked with one of the best sauces and the fried prawn was crispy as well as moist. The clear tom yum was one of thest seafood thai soup I have had in recent years! Overall, a fantastic food experience that you should try if you like Seafood and Thai!

Food was generally good except for the stir fried beef. The beef was so tough and didn't taste fresh. But the tag of the food was good, especially the river prawn with glass noodles. Full of flavour and has the wok heat. Fish was good too. Service was good and place was clean and spacious.
