No frills homely South Indian vegetarian food. Don't go here for the ambiance but the amazing food. The paniyaram is freshly made, soft inside and crispy on the outside. They've also tried to be creative, for example the Idli Manchurian. It's basically bite sized pieces of Idli stir fried in Manchurian sauce. It's once of those dishes you expect not to work - sounds wrong on paper but it's amazing on the palate. Did I mention how pocket friendly they are!

I would recommend this place for 2 good reasons that matter the most to me: Authentic South Indian food & Excellent value for money. A simple local mom and pop establishment, so please keep your expectations right, don't expect a fancy place but you won't go wrong with the food or the prices! It's my favorite South Indian food joint in Bangkok at this time.

After Mark Wiens came here, we had to try it out. Especially because it is only 5min from our accommodation. The restaurant is simple and authentic. The prices are reasonable. We tried the Tali, 18x for 189baht. I have been traveling 3 month in India. Therefore I can tell, this Tali is really authentic. For the people who don't like spicy, be warned. It's medium to upper spicy. Similar to a Som Tam with 3 chilli's. The owner is very friendly. The restaurant is divided in two different houses and has many guest coming, because of Marks YouTube. Thanks a lot for the experience

The best restaurant in Bangkok. It's an authentic South Indian vegetarian restaurant with huge variety of dishes. Everything taste like home food and gives the original taste of South Indian restaurants which you can not find in any other restaurants in Bangkok. This is located in small street in very popular area called silom. One who visit this area never misses Maha Mariamman (shakti) temple and this South Indian restaurant 🙂 There is also a good south indian restaurant called Saravana bhavan near by to this but it's a bit expensive. Sugam South Indian restaurant gives you the best taste at very moderate prices like you find in India local restaurants.

Wow, what a find! The reviews are true - this no-frills vegetarian Indian restaurant is truly delicious. Prices are very reasonable, and the food is incredibly flavorful. All of these things make up for the wait time you may experience while they prepare the food. It was a very positive sign to see so many people of Indian heritage enjoying food here. Try the Sugam Special Masala Dosa!

Hey guys. don't visit this restaurant because i am already visit there. the food there is prepared very poorly and unhygienic. Here they served food that one has already eaten, leftovers from the previous day and frozen food that has been preserved for several days to the customers. This restaurant food contains rat stool, lizards and cockroaches. Kitchens here are very dirty and dangerous. please don't visit this place, save your health. This restaurant is maneged & staffed by illegal immigrants Conducted illegally.

If you are craving for south Indian food, this place is a must try. You may have to track this place down with help from maps as it is not easy to find. The menu is very elaborate and food really tastes authentic south Indian. Some of the dishes are even close to home recipes. We ordered the special dosa, idli manuchurian, porotha curry and lunch thali. Super full serving and yum! One gripe I have is the ambience. It is quite stuffy and does not help enjoying the food. But it is definitely a recommendation for the food. 👍👍👍

Very special experience you geht when eating here. It‘s not just the food that‘s tasty, it‘s also the overall atmosphere. Don‘t expect a high class restaurant. You‘ll rather feel like being invited home to an Indian household . It‘s very authentic and the owners very nice. We didn‘t know any of the dishes on the menu which didn‘t even matter because we were recommended and served something very jummy. You should definetely give it a try.

Sugam South Indian restaurant is really better for South Indians like us with a really good price tags. Foods are really good especially idli and sambar. Also they have buffet options available on weekends. Bika and car parking is not much comfortable. Mostly medium rush not too much. Staffs are so friendly.

Awful experience. Food took more than 1.5 hours and that was only half the order. We had to cancel rest as we were short on time. Food was not upto expectation and took a bite and left rest. Presentation was 0 and found hair in the food. The staff was friendly and apologetic for this however I think management needs to do something about managing better. Will definitely not be returning. Only came here to try out after seeing Mark Wien's video.

Good and authentic Southern Indian food. I’ve been here a few times already. This time I had rasam and plain dosa. Both were good. The rasam could have been a bit hotter. The staff was super nice. Don’t expect a place to stay for a while. It’s very basic. They have two room on either side of the alley. One has A/C the other not.

Definitely one of the best Indian restaurants we had in South East Asia. The owner is very caring and even prepared Takeaway food for us to put it into our own plastic boxes. The food tastes really amazing and the owner told us that only local and organic ingredients are used. Very authentic!

A friend of mine wanted me to go and try their Sunday unlimited South Indian buffet at a very very nominal price. The food was good but service is damn slow and they had to go out to fetch some milk to make some tea. Literally we were forced to wait for a long time. Even if the increase the price, people will come for quality & don’t mind paying more but what they have to do is to increase their staff strength and offer better service. Also what is the problem in stocking milk on a Sunday lunch time, is puzzling me. After somebody orders tea, going and fetching milk doesn’t augur well for a restaurant.

All you can eat Thali for only 159 Baht. I like every spicy curries. Sweet Lassi is 40 Baht. The restaurant has two rooms. If the main room is full, there's other one across. The waiter comes pretty frequently to ask for refills.

  • 5/5 Venkata Ratnam R. 1 year ago on Google
It is located close to Mariamman temple [5 minutes walk] in a small lane and I visited it along with my mom and brother. I and my brother ordered Thalis while my mom tried their dosa. The food is super tasty and you get unlimited refills. Their price is also very reasonable. The thali is 159 baht and the dosa is 80 baht.

Excellent, price are really good and food is really good too. I know nothing in Indian food so I took 2 ransom meal and both were really good. But be careful, some dishes are quite spicy, not that much but enough to feel hot. Except that, I recommend and I'll come back. The guy taking commands was smiling and it's good to see some happy peoples, it's quite rare in Bangkok's restaurant in my opinion.

Decent Indian restaurant. Went here for lunch with colleagues. They have a pretty good thali menu. Quantity and Quality was good. It’s located down the alley. So look for the signage placed on the road and follow.

  • 4/5 Pat K. 5 months ago on Google
Off the beaten path in a small alley is this all vegetarian. The staff were helpful with suggestions and all the dishes and sides we tried were all up to standard and did not disappoint. The cheesy potato dosa which was one of the best I've had in a long while. Went on a weekday evening and it was manned by just one staff out front. Cleanliness of the place could be improved.

This is a restaurant serving dishes that are popular in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka, and of course Indians call it South Indian food. While the food is technically authentic, it definitely cannot match the quality I find back home. We visited for my non-Indian girlfriend to try dishes like masala dosa, idli, and uttapa. I thought it was good but my GF loved it. Very friendly and polite staff btw.

(Translated by Google) Vegetarian South Indian restaurant, good taste, not too dark, reasonably priced, but recommend to order slowly as each dish is very large. Each curry has a deep flavor. Very good. The shop owner is a real Indian. Is a lawyer who works in Thailand And like Thailand very much So my family immigrated to open a restaurant in Thailand for 10 years and I can't speak Thai. Better communicate in English Look at the menu and may be dizzy. Ask the shop owner Each dish will be very large. The shop owner will also teach you how to eat. Not sure what to order? Thali (139 baht) that will have many curries. Like a small cup You can refill unlimitedly with roti or rice, but choose another impressive dish, Ghee Masala Dosa (120 baht). Made from fermented rice The filling is lentil and eaten with 3 types of chutney. This dish is recommended as mentioned, you must order slowly. Because Indian food is rich in carbs, it will be full quickly.

(Translated by Google) Vegetarian Indian Restaurant The shop is almost at the end of the alley. But there are customers who keep coming and eating No parking, parking on the road, smells very good spices Nong staff service is very good. There are also explanations when eating, suggesting a menu and a bit difficult to communicate. Focus mainly on English. The price is not expensive.
