A brilliant hotel for the money. Rooms a little dated now but clean and comfortable. Pool is excellent, staff are lovely, price brilliant and location perfect- far enough away from the madness of Khoa San. We have stayed here a lot over the last 7 years and I will always return.

The hotel is a guest house located near the river and Kaosan area. We booked it due to the position and we really wanted a pool, as it's nice to have a dip after a hot Bangkok day. We had 2 rooms and they were fine for what we paid. Each had private bathrooms, A/C and a safe. The beds weren't great, but we did sleep well. The pool was excellent. The lobby atmosphere was what we really liked: with many hotels they are very "hotel like", i..e quiet lobby that you use to pass through, however this was much more like I remember my backpacking days, as the lobby was open all around, with a restaurant and front desk, pool, taxis and all. For us it was what we were looking for. Would we stay again? For the budget, yes. If we wanted to splash out double, the hotel next door had more class but less atmosphere, in what we were looking for. If I took my parents to BkK, I'd put them in the hotel next door :-)

I stayed here twice. The best things about the hotel are the trees, the elevator and the pool. The first time I stayed here it was because the price was very reasonable for a place with a beautiful green view and a pool. The second time I stayed it was because I had hurt my leg and needed a place with an elevator and a swimming pool. The restaurant is a little expensive, but they try their best to make things tasty! The crowd that seemed to be attracted to this hotel were budget travelers with some class. THE ROOMS: I stayed in the old part of the hotel which costs less. My rooms were tastefully decorated, had closets, and faced the pool and a lovely wooded government property. The second floor is a little loud if people are playing in the pool, but the rooms themselves seem soundproof to adjacent ones. All items in the rooms were functional and in good condition, albeit I haven't really figured out how to perfectly manipulate the air conditioner and hotel phone. Because of that, I was cold, so you may want to ask the staff for another blanket just in case you, too, have a round with the hyperactive AC. All they offer is shampoo, conditioner, soap, and q-tips, so you may need your other toiletries. COMPARISONS: I shopped around this particular area for an entire afternoon. This is the hotel with the highest value for the money in this area.

The staff is nice but Hu is definitely rude and unprofessional. I gave them some laundry and it came back humid and stinky. I told them, nicely, that I would like to dry it and the lady Hu told me I should be happy because they washed it and it's not their fault if it's not dry properly. As they charge 70/kilo (and the laundromat 2 min walking from the hotel is way cheaper) I told her that I did pay for the clothes to be clean, not humid with a smell, and I would like to at least dry them before we leave the next day. The conversation was still decent but Hu told me in a really aggressive manner that if I give her my clothes back she will make sure it comes back dirty... how sad it is to treat your guests (and we are the polite and quiet kind of guest) that way. The room was ok but really old and smelly and lot of noise coming from the AC and others guests, it's difficult to sleep there. I would not recommend to choose this hotel.

Really loved the location, if you get through the side alley you get to a lovely quiet part of the city with lots of bars, shops and restaurants. The rooms are little worn but are clean and fine for a few days, air con works well and pool is a decent size.

It's a nice enough hotel, the rooms were clean and specious, the shower/toilets small room was practical, air-conditioning worked well, the beds were ok ( typical hard mattress that you get in Thailand - for the life of me I don't understand why torture yourself) Very close to the Khaosan road -less than 5m, they have local laundry service for 70Bhat for 1K, but 1m walk from the hotel you have 24/7 laundromat for 130Bhat including dryer. There are various restaurant near and a lovely Teahouse called petite Soleil (no food) , we also had a real treat buffet breakfast (350Bhat per person ) across the road at the Riva Surya Bangkok. This is the place you come to rest your head and drop your luggage so don't get your hopes high. But it's clean, comfortable, the Aircon is working and you have a safe in the room. Saying all that, however.. there is a lovely pool and from what I see various western food options for breakfast and your local Thai dishes and coffee in the main entrance (it's all open garden style -no Aircon) So all in all it's a 5 stars for what it is,but it's a 2-3 stars hotel at best.

Good location, easy access, check in prompt (by 2 o'clock they mean 2 o'clock), friendly staff, nice pool but with limited seating, coffee shop prices reasonable. The room was clean, fridge, TV, safe, shower and fair amount of storage for clothes etc. Wifi was ok, but we frequently had to log on. Small balcony facing a very large green wall. Double glazed window stops most noise and a/c stops the rest. So, very little on the downside. Stayed here about 7/8 years ago, it's got bigger, but I would recommend it.

Across the board, this hotel is really not to par with normal hotels anywhere. I will point out just a few of the negatives of this place: 1. The staff at the front desk are so rude that at times I felt that it was a policy in this hotel to be rude to the customers. At the beginning I thought perhaps the person I am dealing with has a bad day, but very soon I realized that this is the normal behavior of all the staff members except for a young trainee who was "kind of" polite... In fact at one point I thought they might dismiss her bc she was out of the rudeness mold. 2. The quality of the rooms is really in a big need of update urgently. The place is rundown and it really not worth being called a hotel... Just for the sake of compression Motel 6 in the USA, which is considered a low budget accomodations, would be a superior by far than this hotel. 3. An outdated wifi System- I travel a lot, nowhere did I find a hotel that assign their guests with a different wifi password every day or few days. Really guys, it cost nothing to have an internet connection nowadays in the modern world, why make your customers/guests miserable... I found myself constantly going to the front desk to ask for a new password. You can't work this way. I couldn't even call the front desk, because the phones in both rooms I stayed in, had no working phones. 4. Breakfast is good, but the toaster oven was set to a low temperature, so low you had to run the slice of bread twice or even 3 times before it is toasted. As a result, causing long line of waiting. Why don't you raise the temperature one scale up??? Just a simple thing to do, but no one is really thinking here. 5. The coffee at breakfast is really bad, but they do provide hot milk so if you bring your coffee with you, you might be ok. 6. For reasons I can't elaborate here, I needed to extend my stay in this hotel for 2 more nights, I couldn't move to another hotel at that time, they moved me to a different room in which the blankets are like an airline blankets full of dust, I couldn't sleep from itching. 7. Shampoo smells Disgustingly. These are just a few of my personal experiences, I wish it will challenge somebody in this hotel to do something about it, bc the location of the place is good... Anyways, very disappointing!

Room is really small but sufficient for sleeping and taking a shower. Air con, shower etc. Was working fine. Common spaces like pool area and restaurant are spaceous and nice. Some drunk idiots slammed doors all night but you can't blame the place for that. It's Bangkok after all and you don't go there to have a quiet week.

I enjoyed my stay in this hotel for 6 nights. The room is clean, wifi is quick, staff friendly, pool is quite nice for a dip and location is great. It's a lively area to stay. I will probably stay again. The belcony is weird you gotta step high out the window. And there is only one power socket and one behind tv to charge your stuff. Cleaning is on request. Good value hotel to stay for sure.

Love the location, not far from the main night life but VERY QUIET. Bus 15 is across the street which can bring you to Siam Center (8 baht = NON AC Bus, 15 Baht = AC bus) also right outside the main entrance (where the 15 bus is across the street) if you TURN LEFT and walk STRAIGHT (straight through the University Area, don't let the University fool you that you can't walk through this area) you will reach the GRAND PALACE (500 BAHT entrance fee) in 20 minutes. Rooms, shower, beds, AC were all great! Staff very helpful.

Great hotel. Very reasonable price. Close to kaosan and the boat bus to palace and center. The swimming pool is a great plus after a hot day visiting. Only minus point is that the terraces are not really accessible in some rooms.

A nice hotel/guesthouse in the old city center of Bangkok for Thailand prices. From here you walk within 2 minutes to Khao San Road. The room was clean and the pool offers a nice way to cool down during the heat waves during the day. The staff is also friendly and speaks understandable English

Nice hotel, room pleasant, though a kettle would be nice, pool lovely, has restaurant with fantastic food. Staff seem friendly and pleasant. They do tell you on arrival that if you want the maid to attend your room, you have to request it at reception otherwise they don't go into your room. We had clean towels and sheets every day! I saw one review said no breakfast but I had breakfast here. Close to Khaosan but just far enough to be quiet. Plenty of restaurants around. Very pleasing stay. Word of warning don't get a taxi from the front of the hotel! They refuse to turn on the meter and will rip you off plus you are breaking the law and not covered! Instead walk down the road a bit and flag one down.

Three star good hotel. Good location, generally clean but small rooms and the hotel itself. The hotel has more than 250 rooms. There is an inexpensive breakfast for 179 baht. The only downside is that the microwave is only in the kitchen and it costs 30 baht to heat it up.

I had a pretty bad experience staying at this hotel. There is no regular housekeeping and even if you follow their process of requesting housekeeping through reception, they may just willfully ignore your request. The staff seem to have a 'we don't care ' attitude probably because they are in a good location and know they will anyway get customers. The girl staff will every now and then flash a fake smile even though in general their behaviour is not at all customer centric. they seem to have been taught to be rude.it could be also probably because they are underpaid and overworked so they don't care.the picture I have attached tells you that this is their trick so that they can avoid housekeeping. essentially they are running this place with very limited staff. if you are a family with kids and you expect your room to be clean, I will ask you to avoid this place at all cost. the buffet breakfast is also fairly ordinary. also I believe they have named it as 'guest house' to to keep the customer service liability to the minimum ;) also last but not the least the Wi-Fi does not work in the room..

Simple but clean room. Good location. Helpful receptions. Tourist SIM available from the reception with good price. Swimming pool plus. Good breakfast (179 baht). Good location for example for backpackers (cheap price). Might be useful to take ear plugs with you (walls thin).

THE BEST location possible, just by the river and close to the water tram. Lovely service always there to help you and answer your questions. The rooms are clean with comfy beds and a nice bathroom. The pool downstairs is great for people who like to chill out in a quiet and cosy environment. Overall great value for a cheap price considering all of the positive aspects of the hotel.

Location is perfect. Very near to khao San market. Food in restaurant are so good specially the mango smoothie and Tom yum. It’s good also that it has swimming pool beside the restaurant. Good place to chill and relax.

Pros: - Great location if you want to be near Khalid San road and Wats. - Great pool - Great service (they’ve let us leave our bags for 6 hours for free) - The room was old, but clean and comfy Cons: - WiFi works very poorly. You get a user and a password, but you often get disconnected and the WiFi itself doesn’t work well (especially if you want to send photos) - We’ve reserved a room with garden view but got one with the view of another building - The AC and a fridge are pretty loud - You can hear people next room and in the hall very clearly - I don’t recommend their breakfast. It’s not bad, but still you can get a better breakfast nearby. Overall, it was a good stay. Thank you. I recommend Vietnamese Soup nearby.

For the pros: + localization - very close to main "party street" but far enough to be a quiet place. Walking distance to many attractions like Chinatown or king palace +price :) cheapest in the neighborhood incl. breakfast + breakfasts, nice variety (4 hot dishes different each day) and basics like eggs or toasts - everything tasty! For cons: - rooms are tiny and we had one without a windows (there is one with wiev at the wall so we keep this closed). - sheets were not really clean - you cannot charge devices when you are out of the room ( card is required to run electricity and this must be a room card, id's or credits do not worked for us). Recomended if you look for cheap place or only stay for short time.

If you plan on doing any kind of work involving the internet, spend a few extra baht and get a real hotel. One of the few places I've experienced that still doles out time-limited passwords, and the connection is neither secure nor consistent. We were on the fourth floor and it was spotty and frustrating. I suspect it was better below us. I ended up working in the lobby. I can't say anything about the upgraded rooms, but our standard twin had three, yes three, outlets, only one of which was grounded and none located in the bathroom. Two of the ungrounded outlets were dedicated to the TV and the cable box, so these must be unplugged if you want to, say, charge your phone or use the kettle. The room doors have been fitted with self-closing hardware. This is ignored by a sufficient number of the mainly European guests, who insist on yanking them shut with a bang just like in the old country. The heavy weight of the doors and the hard-tile hallways makes for a miserable and unnerving experience every morning as the sharp and sudden slamming persists from 6 to 11 am, and occasionally thereafter. Breakfast not great, so the perk of a free breakfast is not much of a perk. One star for the pool, if you avoid the rush hour, the shower, which was decent, and the AC, which kept the room cool.

Great location, near the palace and temples. A perfect budget accommodation. Rooms are small but have aircon, fans and all have safes. Friendly helpful staff. We always stay here when visiting Bangkok.

Hotel of past glories, today it offers cheap rooms at budget prices in a convenient location for visiting the city, a stone's throw from the Pier and Kahosan. The rooms are old, the bed comfortable but the air conditioning too noisy to sleep comfortably. The broom overlooked the wall of the hotel opposite. The reception is somewhat messy and gives the idea of the management of the hotel. Friendly staff. Hotel without glory and without shame.

Love it! Well priced, simple, clean and friendly with nice swimming pool. Price included breakfast, served across the road at New Siam Riverside - nice setting with river views. Location is convenient for the river taxi stop for access into the city generally. Have stayed before and will continue to do so!

Cheap hotel with a pool with great location! Very basic rooms. But ac works, they are clean and bed are comfortable. Toilets get clogged easily, can't throw any toilet paper into them, but apparently it's the same all over Bangkok. The pool is really nice! Staff is always happy to help and they are very nice. Oh, did I say there's also a pool!!

We stayed in the New Siam 2 a few times before. Location is great for a few Bangkok staples including Wat Arun, Great Palace, Wat Po and Khaosan. However COVID took and is still taking its toll. The pool is closed (the nicer New Siam Riverside pool just across the street can be used instead), and menus for food are smaller than usual. Also the rooms are a bit more worn-down. On the other hand the prices also dropped quite significantly. I would go there again.

Service has deteriorated since the last time I was here 3.5yrs ago. Pool is nice and clean. Beds are hard, rooms are dark and lack privacy from the new hotel next door. Overall, reasonable value for the area

  • 1/5 Be S. 1 year ago on Google
Yes the price is good for the area, but make sure you are prepared to share your bedroom with cockroaches, ants and centipedes. This place is a wildlife sanctuary and then a hostel. You get what you pay for at the end of the day. Good luck.

Asked for a quiet room and probably got one of the noisiest rooms in that place! Told us everything was booked which simply wasn't true. Different noises all night. I could not sleep. Changed to another Hotel almost next door which was quiet. Also super oldest AC I have ever seen. If you need more noise, turn this huge thing on.

Cheap & clean - just what I need. Stayed here with my wife and we were perfectly happy. Very similar to the old Peachy guesthouse that used to be around the corner. The location is great, staff was helpful and friendly. Be sure to take the water ferries nearby.

I've stayed here many times over the last years. The quality of the rooms has gone down a bit (old, noisy air cons, small and old bathrooms), but it's clean, conveniently located and has a small pool. Ideal with small children. They do charge for credit card payments (2%) though and offer temporary codes for WiFi use - very 2005 -:(

  • 5/5 Kim Chee L. 1 year ago on Google
This is the cheaper brother of the hotel on the opposite side of the street. I like this hotel more than the more luxurious one. There are less amenities in the room, for example no water cooker. The room was clean and the aircon was working properly. The hotel is also close the the Chao Praya river boat which makes it easy to take the boat to many tourist locations and big shopping centers.
