An interesting place to visit, especially if you like to see how religious traditions develop. Here you'll see a mix of Hindu, Buddhist, and animist beliefs. The photos and videos I have added are from about 2005, the dancers wear face shields now. Ceremony is important, but so is avoiding Covid...

After 26 years of going once on every visit, this time it felt very dry and hollow. Reason being that you are not allowed to burn the joss sticks or the candles anymore. While I understand the public health discourse, life is not made up of science and health only but enriched by spirituality, faith and human energy. The smell and warmth that would trigger a quarter of century of prayers and memories can no longer be experienced. I have decided not to go there any more, so that I can live with the beautiful memories I had every year, on every visit, since 1996. Hope it is just me. 😥😥😥

First time visiting this religious shrine here in the middle of Bangkok, one of the busiest area.I was lucky there were not too many people. Came here on a Tuesday, approximately 5pm, October 2022. Went in and there is a booth selling offerings of different pricing ranging from 100B to 1000B. Got the 300B set and there are incense, candles and flowers which are sufficient for offerings to all 4 sides of the four faced buddha. Prayers are done in a clock wise manner starting from the side facing the main gate. Place 1 candle,1 set of flowers and 3 incense on each side after each prayer. (They don't allow lighting up of the incense now.) You may also engage their on-site prayer group for a fee. Definitely a good experience overall.

A very popular shire in Bangkok, Thailand. Near the central world, Pratunam area. Just walking straight down the central world and you will see the shire at the corner. A lot of people came to the shire and wish for something and granted a lot of wishes come true. But wish what you capable of, and once the wishes did come true, remember to come back to return the flavor and thanks for the wishes. For those who has no idea how is the prayer be done, there is people selling the flowers, candles for the prayer, you can ask them for how to pray. Overall it is a very sacred place shire in Bangkok

(Translated by Google) Buying garlands for 50 in the railing is much cheaper than outside the railing. 4 garlands are placed in front of the 4 Buddha statues. Don’t light the incense. Insert three at a time. The side facing the door clockwise is at the beginning of career, love, wealth, health, and there is a place to wash your hands. donation wash later. One of the famous shrines in Bangkok, located in the centre of the city and closrr to BTS station. Thai people and foreigners come to this place to ask for blessings from Lord BRAHMA (God with 4 faces). How to pray at this shrine.. 1. Get a set of 4 garlands, incense sticks, candle. 2. Pray any one of the four praying spot (praying are marked by the 4 faces of the LORD BRAHMA. 3. Ask for blessings and your wish 4. After praying place one garland at every 4 praying spot. Those who feel that their wishes have been fulfilled, they do an extra prayer with a Traditional dancer group (obviously, you have to pay to ask that dance group to perform for you). Just observe for five minutes and you would understand the process better

A place of worship for the Theravada Buddhist faith. It differs from the Mahayana practice. It has traces of Hinduism. The Erawan Shrine pays tribute to Brahma, the God of Wisdom and it is believed to have granted wishes to many devotees. However upon receiving the wish, one must return to repay the gift. Nevertheless in the absence of a specific request, it I always good to seek for health and safety.

Walked pass this place lots of times but finally visited. Was a super sunny day 🥹 Just walked right in to buy flowers, incense sticks at the shrine, ranging from 50 baht and above, no need to buy from outside venders.

My family has come to this Shrine every time we're in Bangkok since before I was born. The experience this year was different though. The AQI was quite bad during the days I visited. The Shrine was covered up with plastic wrap, possibly as protection against dust and pollution. This made it rather difficult to see inside. Incense and candles also weren't allowed to be lit, and gold leaves were no longer available. Flower offerings and placing an unlit candle was still allowed though.

A famous place to worship Hindu lord Brahma.. As the place was build to eliminate the bad karma which was caused when the foundation of a hotel was laid on a wrong date.. The place will give you peace once you get there.. There is also a thai dance that are performed by thai women's, you have to say your name to them and they will pray for you to the lord.. Must visit the place when you have been to Bangkok..

Missus and I came last year to pray for good luck, hence we came back this year again to pay our gratitude towards the luck given. It’s a own self of how much token of gratitude one self wish to pay by having different amount of dancers and since we were praying for 2, we choose a 8 dancers instead which is not really pricey nevertheless, it’s not about the price but the heart towards it. It is always pack even until night time, and it’s a good thing for environmental of not having to burn joss sticks anymore. Always buy the set of praying - joss stick, flowers and candle inside the shrine by the right hand side and never buy it from the people outside the front door. Majority of them are scammer especially those with birds. At the end of the praying, just went to get a wash up by the side to clean up bad lucks. Feels good after praying. Believing is good but hence, no matter how you pray, don’t really expect the gold will gonna falls down from the skies. It’s all about hard work to achieve the dreams.

This Shrine is dedicated to the Hindu God of Creation "Brahma" and you will see a four faced idol of the god here. Its the most famous shrine in Thailand and most of the times it is crowded. People come here to get their wishes fulfilled by offering flower garlands and coconuts. Also there is a Thai traditional dance troupe which was performing when we went there and it was beautiful. It is located just outside the Grand Hyatt Hotel and the closest BTS is Chitlom.

A must visit when you’re in downtown Bangkok. Buy your incense and flowers inside, and ask the Brahma for good luck. Very well maintained even during COVID. Upside of the pandemic is that there are very few tourists right now, so it is very calm here during weekdays.

Must visit holy place of worship in Thailand. Legend has it that the adjoining hotel keep on having construction accidents until the shrine was erected. Afterwards people come here because the shrine has powers to grant you what ever success you wish for. But you must return in exchange for your wish if it comes true. Some people will contribute elephants for each of the four faces. Some have even Lum Thai or Thai traditional dance naked. This shrine is so revered that there is another replica in Las Vegas.

As everyone will attest, this shrine is a must visit. You're probably between shopping at the multitude of malls in the city center....WHY NOT take a moments pause at the enchanting 4 faced Buddha! Yes the street is noisy, you're surrounded by traffic and concrete...But... there's something about this shrine that as you walk around offering your prayers, somehow the noise of the world sort of fades away. The bonus of witnessing the gratitude dances just adds to the experience of being there. I repeat..A MUST visit while you're in the city center

Erawan Shrine is the most famous image of Phra Phrom in Bangkok. Very well organised and offerings can be bought at the counter starting from 20, 50, 100 Baht and upwards. Interesting that the incense and candles offered are not lit; pollution prevention and probably reused for sustainability. A peaceful feeling even though it is at a busy intersection.

It's next to siam center, the helper from the Shrine are really friendly and helpful. It cost 50baht to get the basoc candles and incents to pray. Pray and wish the same thing from each side of the Buddha. Remember to tell the Buddha yoh will come back to repay them if your wish came true. It doesn't matter what you will repay your wish. The heart and mind is more important. As long as you dont wish for impossible grand wish or anything evil, it's okay

An important place to visit the famed and revered Four-Faced Buddha. It cost about 120 Baht to purchase a set of 4 small candles, 12 incense stick and 4 garlands, otherwise, it is free admission, all you need to do is hold two palms to each other and offer your quiet prayers.

Erawan shrine is very crowded place because Thais believe that if you go and pray at this shrine, and ask for a wish. Your wish will shall come true. -- People also believe that you need to do something in return after your wish came true. The statue in the shire is Tao Mahaprom or Brahma -- the creator god in Hinduism. So people believe that he in the one who creates everything at the first place so he is the one who control your destiny. To pray the god, you should take flowers, and incense sticks (it can be bought at the Shrine). Then, you should pray at all four directions of the statue (or ask staffs for advices). To do something in return, people tend to hire Thai dancers at the shrine to dace as worship rituals.

Must go religious in Bangkok. There are not many people when I was there. It might be affected by the Coronavirus. Worship accessory such as Puang Malai (Garland) and candles are many extravagant (100 Baht/set). I recommend that you should buy from elsewhere that will cost you in much cheaper around 40-50 Baht/set.

It’s a great place to see religious syncretism in Thailand. While 93% of the country follows Theravada Buddhism, many Thai Buddhists also come here to pray to Brahma, a Hindu god. Vendors on and next to the site are selling marigolds as offerings and birds in cages. There is also traditional Thai dancers on the site that perform dances for worshippers who wish to receive blessings at the site.

Purchase the joss sticks, candle and flower wreaths etc from the corner kiosk near the side gate. The sellers are quite used to tourist so they can speak some english/chinese. Nice atmosphere.

Pray for your wish and If it comes true, you purchase flowers, candles and paper gold or buy dancing service to devote. So many people who includes foreigners visit here.

One of the tourists attractions and a holy place where Thai people come to worship. A famous landmark you should visit once. My first time pray and make a wish here. Luckily pandemic reduced the crowd. You can take the sky train (BTS) to “Chid Lom” station and walk less than 3 mins. The temple is between Gaysorn mall and Erawan hotel. PS. Yep! Daniel Craig is at the back!

The Erawan Shrine holds significant allure for visitors in Bangkok, offering a glimpse into the rich tapestry of faith and cultural practices. Visitors are treated to sights of devotees paying respects to Buddha, surrounded by a profusion of vibrant flowers. The Thai traditional dances, occasionally accompanied by Chinese performances, are a visual treat, adding to the spiritual ambiance. An evening visit is recommended to avoid the heat of the day, making the experience even more enjoyable.

The Erawan Shrine in Bangkok captivates with its spiritual and cultural richness. Devotees, vibrant flowers, and traditional dances create a mesmerizing atmosphere. Although I admired it from outside, the allure is undeniable, especially during the evening when the ambiance enhances the overall experience.

Anytime, any day this temple will be crowded as this Four Faced Buddha has many believers. It’s situated at the junction of Bangkok shopping belt. The nearest train station is Chit Lom. Walking distance from CentralWorld. It’s forbidden to light the incense sticks or candles but you still can purchase. You can also pay the Thai dancers for performance to the Buddha.

Next to grand Hyatt in BKK, take the BTS to chit lom station . On site they don’t allow you to lit candles , but can offer and stick into the sand infront of the Erawan Shrine

Erawan Shrine in the heart of Bangkok is a place of serene beauty and profound spiritual significance. Despite its bustling urban location, it remains a must-visit for anyone in the city, offering a unique blend of devotion and city life. The intricate architecture and the continuous flow of visitors create a dynamic and captivating experience.

I went to Erawan Shrine today, and I have been here many, many times over the years, and it’s always an enjoyable and fascinating experience, while being a spiritual site for many.

The most famous spot for believers to worship Erawan in BKK. You could buy a bird and set it free, or buy flowers or even spend more hiring dancers to please and thank Erawan. Before you start worship, remember to wash your hands, neck and head at the corner that has many elephant sculptures. FYI, the cost of hiring dancers is $800 baht for like 1 minute long performance.

Attention catching The Thai Prayer Altar. Looks good but small though. Crowded at all times. Thai people and just Buddhists are praying here. Probably praying for good luck, love, success and other funny things. Location isn’t that great but really interesting contrasting with huge road intersection: in one hand loud noise of cars, bikes and other one is you trying to cooperate with your mind to produce some decent prayers. Cool experience, might be. When you walking on skywalk from chitlom to siam, you won’t miss this praying spot and though you’ll make for sure smart looking sight on it like something really interesting there. 🤭😆 Alright, lil hobbits, keep walking, keep exploring.

(Translated by Google) Erawan Shrine is a shrine in front of the Erawan Hotel that enshrines Phra Phrom with four faces. Easy access as it can be reached by Skywalk from BTS Chidlom Station. Furthermore, I don't know if it is true, but it is said to be the number one power spot in Bangkok. You can just look at it, but if you want to visit, you can buy flowers, incense sticks, candles, etc. at the shop. I think the best way to worship is to imitate the Thai people who are worshiping. There is always a crowd because the wishes come true. We recommend that you visit Bangkok once when you come to Bangkok because you can go there immediately.

very nice spiritual experience in the middle of Bangkok. I myself prefer to buy the offering at the shop inside shrine rather than buy it outside, because of the offering price at inside shop is fixed and affordable.
