Not sure you are allowed onto the island to take photos, but you can still get nice pictures from different angles from the roadside pavements around this impressive and iconic sculpture.

Well, I'm still trying to figure out, Why this Monument is there when there is no Democracy in Thailand. As long as I know it's Monarchy here and I didn't find any problems with that. However, let's talk about the Monument this is in the middle of the road have traffic signal lights. One way from here goes towards Khao San Road and other way to Airport, and one more goes to Supreme Court of Thailand and Royal Place.

Very quiet during the day, but you have to withstand the heat and it isn't lit up. You can get a great view from the Mc Donald's while cooling down. Highly recommended but won't take you long here, great to go to when you are going to another attraction.

It's one of the places I highly respect because it's always remind us about the huge sacrifices paid by thousands and thousands of Thai people to protect their country and keep it free and prosperous for everyone.

I cannot understand the culture and the history of Thailand. But in my mind, I guess these symbols emblem democracy and Republic of Thailand, and all of citizens always respect it. They put these monuments in the center of a main Avenue for understanding a special and sacred meaning. National flag and royal flag are together in here. Paul

The Democracy Monument is located at the roundabout on Ratchadamnoen Street in the Phra Nakhon district of Bangkok. The monument commemorates the 1932 Siamese coup d'Γ©tat that led to the establishment of a constitutional monarchy. The statue depicts a palm leaf manuscript box containing the Thai constitution. At the top, two offering bowls were placed over a round turret made of copper - 3 meters high and 4 tons in weight. The constitution is symbolically guarded by four wing-like structures with bas-reliefs and tiny fences surrounding the monument. The wings are 24 meters high. This is also the radius of the base of the monument. This means that the 1932 coup took place on June 24. The monument looks impressive and should not be missed when walking along Ratchadamnoen Avenue.

The monument itself represents independence for the Thai citizens. It was cool..but sadly you cannot enter the monument, you can only look at it by a distance ☹️

This is called Democracy Monument that is located at thevcenter of Old Bangkok, Thailand. Actually it is a traffic roundabout on Ratchadamnoen Avenue, and Dinso Road intersection. The Royal Ground (Sanam Luan), KhaoSan road and the temple of the Golden Mount are very close to this Monument.

In the center of Bangkok's Democracy Monument is symbolically depicted the constitution by which the Kingdom of Thailand changed into a constitutional monarchy in 1932. The Democracy Monument, built in art deco style to commemorate the coup d'Γ©tat in 1932, was inaugurated on June 24, 1940. Individual elements of the building symbolize the date of establishment of the constitutional monarchy (June 24, 1932). Four obelisks in the shape of angel wings are 24 meters high. The monument was designed by the Italian sculptor Silpa Bhirasi (original Italian name Corrado Feroci), who adopted a Thai name and citizenship and is the author of a number of buildings and sculptures throughout Thailand.

One of the famous landmarks in Bangkok, that you will either pass while being in a Grab or just go there to see this amazing monument. During the day time it will be very hot so make sure to drink a lot of water when you are here. Close by are some restaurants that offer a view to this central point of traffic and landmark. During night time it is well lit and an eyesight to behold.

Democracy monument of Thailand!!! This gigantic structure is located in the main avenue and it the symbol emblems democracy and Thailand and all the people. Due to it be in the middle of the avenue, it's quite difficult to access and only visible if you are in the car or the street nearby.

It's beautiful at night, and the lighting is very attractive. The Loha Prasat temple next to it accentuates it's beauty, it's superbly lit and makes the entire area glitter of sorts.

It's a monument alongside the road. Nice to see when you cross the street.

A public monument in the city center of Bangkok, capital of Thailand. It occupies a traffic circle on the wide east–west Ratchadamnoen Avenue, at the intersection of Dinso Road. The monument is roughly halfway between Sanam Luang, the former royal cremation ground in front of Wat Phra Kaew, and the temple of the Golden Mount (Phu Kao Thong).

The Democracy Monument has four wings. The four wings of the monument are 24 meters above the ground. The fort in the middle has a constitutional pedestal with a height of 3 meters. Currently, Thailand uses the 2017 constitution which has 279 articles to administer the country.

If Art Deco and Bauhaus is your thing this monument would certainly float your boat. Magnificent in its height and construction, also counting as the zero marker for all roads leading from Bangkok. Note that there are several transients in this area, even though they appear to keep to themselves, they do stare and the odd racketeer might try his luck as a "tour guide"... keep valuables and wallets secured.
