Wow, what a place. I can't believe I missed this on many previous visits to Bangkok, but definitely gets 5 stars. It was founded by King Rama IV in 1857. Both of the Buddha statues in the Temple Hall and Sermon Hall were brought from Vientiane by King Rama III. Not only is this a beautiful Temple with lavishly decored buildings and mural paintings, it has a wonderfully tranquil tropical garden behind the main Temple buildings, in the middle of the site. If you close your eyes and listen to the bird song it's hard to believe you're right in the middle of Bangkok. There's quite a juxtaposition with the enormous shopping malls on either side overlooking the Temple and it's grounds. A visit here provides a great space for meditation away from the noise of the city. It looks like quite a large community of monks live here with accommodation towards the rear of the site.

There are some Buddhist temples in Thailand which imprint on one's mind. Wat Pathum Waranam Rachaworawihan is one of them. At first, Wat Pathum Waranam looks like any other Buddhist temple, stylish buildings, beautiful religious decoration; and it is the front side of the temple area. But the back side of the area is totally different. For me - and this is a very subjective judgement! - the rear side of Wat Pathum Waranam Rachaworawihan is pure ZEN. It is just what I have waited for to see and experience during months I have spent in Thailand. I hope that those few pics I took help to explain what I mean because my words are not enough.

Peaceful and tranquil temple located in the busy Sukhumvit street. This beautiful temple is located between two large malls. The temple is very clean and easily accessible for the general public.

beautiful and quite temple in between of central world and siam paragon. It is free of charge to visit this temple, Feel free to visit, pray or even meditate. when i visited the temple, there is one building under renovation. But the main building is still open for public, the inside is mesmerizing, u may feel the zen, nice place to pray or having meditation. The complex is very clean and everything is on proper way. You may find some monks in the building nearby the main entrance to give you blessing. Make sure to bring your offerings.

It’s very convenient to visit and pay respect to the Buddha and make merit to the monks or (thamboon), in any occasion. When you feel down with city life , just walk a little to this place , because Temple is between Siam Paragon and Central world. 🏢🛕⛩🏢 Don’t miss the Meditation hall , you need to walk to the end of the temple behind Wat path I’m School. Ask for directions. 🙏🙏🙏🌳🌳🌳🧘‍♂️🧘🏻‍♀️🧘‍♂️🧘🌳🌳🧘‍♂️🧘‍♂️

The temple with its large, green and beautifully relaxing gardens is impressive. It is almost unimaginable that such a quiet, green area can be found in the center of Bangkok. With the BTS station Siam in a maximum of 5 minutes walk to reach.

Escape from busy life to make a merit in the quiet and peaceful temple. Outside the temple, it’s is too noisy and busy traffic on Rama1 road. But once you walk inside the temple, it’s turn upside down. Quite relax even you only just walk in. There is a meditation place that people often come to do their meditation.

Spiritual oasis in the middle of Bangkok’s shopping district. Stuck between two of the biggest malls in Bangkok (Siam Paragon and Central World), Wat Pathum Wanaram is a surprisingly quiet place. During the day, a short walk into the temple’s premise is a bit like taking a time machine to the old days. But this only lasts a few seconds and as soon as you look up, you realize that the temple is surrounded by all the highrise buildings. For foreigners, be aware that this is a place of worship as well as a meditation center. This is usually not a tourist attraction (but of course everyone is welcomed). Therefore please be respectful and follow local customs. Please also don’t make noise when you are in the meditation area.

Visited a number of buddhist temples and this is by far the best temple by my personal view! Located right beside Siam Paragon it is very convenient to reach and the place is very well maintained. Its a simple, quiet, green space with beautiful gardens and buildings showing a mix of thai and china architecture which reflects the preiod these structures were build. A must go! U can take a 30min break from your shopping to have a look!

I stumbled upon this temple in the middle of central Bangkok while walking from MBK to Central World. What a nice surprise... providing the juxtaposition of old and new with the glass skyscrapers behind traditional temple buildings. There is also a peaceful meditation hall in a quiet forested area behind the temple if you want to escape the bustle of the city. Entry is free and I recommend checking it out.

Not so crowded temple compared to the more popular ones. Has a mini forested area at the back perfect for meditation.

Very peaceful Buddhist temple right in the middle of bustling Bangkok. Within the grounds, meditating in the teaching hall it’s very easy to forget you’re in the middle of one of the busiest cities in the world. The temple grounds can be seen from the sky train. There is a well kept garden at the rear of the complex with many of the plants labeled in Thai and English for the botanically minded. Well worth the visit - especially early in the morning to give alms to the Sangha.

Located behind Central World, this temple has two main praying halls. Can take a stroll at the surrounding buildings after prayers.

An oasis in the middle of the commercial jungle of Bangkok. I came to practice my meditation and was positively impressed by the peaceful atmosphere both in the garden area and in the beautiful meditation hall. It was surely a blessed moment 🙏

A beautiful Buddhist temple in the heart of Bangkok. The grounds offer a wooded/park like meditation area to escape the hustle and bustle of the ciry. A must see when visiting Bangkok.

Wat Pathum Wanaram is one of the most overlooked temples in Bangkok by tourists, but it's definitely worth visiting. It is interesting that in the middle of a big city, this is a place that can be called an oasis of peace. A visit there is an opportunity not only to admire the buildings themselves. You can take the opportunity to meditate. There is also a small and beautiful park where you can walk or contemplate and museum. The temple has many advantages and has a peaceful atmosphere. It is located in the Pathum Wan district between Siam Paragon and CentralWorld - two large shopping malls.

One of my favorite Temples in Central Bangkok. Right beside Central World Shopping Center. An oasis of calm in the busy commercial center. Check out the friendly temple resident cats.

A beautiful wat in the heart of the city. It is definitely peaceful, at least late afternoon. During the week. I was literally the only one there. I do wish that a little bit more of the signage had been in multiple languages, but Google translate took care of most of my needs.

The beautiful & peaceful temple in a mid of center of Bangkok. This is a place which you can find relax, rest, and worthful architecture. Unbelievably, the temple located between Central World and Siam Paragon which are the most traffice shopping centers in Thailand. But once you walking into the temple, you can hand down all stress, messing outside. Please dress up politely and respect the place.

Quiet and peaceful temple in the noisy Bangkok. Love 🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍 ••••• Wat Pathum Wanaram (Thai: วัดปทุมวนาราม) or Wat Pathum for short is a Buddhist temple in Bangkok, Thailand. It is located in the Pathum Wan District, between the two shopping malls Siam Paragon and CentralWorld, and across the street of Siam Square. The temple was founded in 1857 by King Mongkut (Rama IV) as a place of worship near his Sa Pathum Palace. At the time of its founding the area was still only rice fields, only accessible via the Khlong Saen Saeb. The temple is a third class royal temple of the Thammayut Nikaya order. The full name of the temple is Wat Pathum Wanaram Ratcha Wora Viharn (วัดปทุมวนารามราชวรวิหาร). Among the various buildings of the temple is a sala partially reconstructed from the crematorium of the late Princess Mother of Thailand. The crematorium was a rare example of ancient craftsmanship featuring ornate stencils and lacquered sculptures. Known in Thai as phra men, it represents Mount Meru, the heavenly abode of the gods. ••••• (Pics : 31/12/2019)

👍👍 I give a shot at 5 am for dawn vibes, in the morning, they already opened, quite half of them. You can find food, has breakfast at 6 am, only on ground floor, the 1st floor (know as 2nd floor for thai people) is open around 10 am. It's common tradition thai market but the goods&ingredients are high...
