Bang Luang Mosque or Kudi Khao is the only mosque in Thailand constructed like a Buddhist temple. The highlight is the architecture of the reign of King Rama III, especially the gable decorated with stucco designs of peony flower or confederate rose. The centre is a image of a lotus flower that has the inscription ‘Allah’. Besides this, the interior has a pedestal for the imam, which is the Sam Yot Archway decorated with coloured glass like the archway of a chapel.

Had a group visit here today. We were welcome by the Imam. Very historic. The masjid was built about 200 years ago, the earlier masjid was built from wood about 400 years. The masjid is a community based. The neighborhood was a mixed of Islam, Christian, Buddhist, Chinese. Live in harmony. The masjid is called Bang Luang Masjid or ‘Kudi Khao’ (white) as is it painted white. Next to the masjid is the islamic learning centre.

One interesting tourist spot when you visit Thonburi City. The prominence of this mosque is the architecture which similar to the temple. I'm sure you never see it before because it's the only one of the world.

I prayed here on 27/10/2019. A small masjid with distinctive siamese architecture. The road to masjid is quite narrow. Friendly people.

Bang Luang Mosque is a quite small but a beautiful meshid in Bangkok. It's not the easiest to find; you have to walk along narrow alleys to the hearth of the local muslim community to get there. I was there in good time before the Asr prayer, so I had time to talk with very friendly local people which is always an extra wonderful experience when visiting meshids in Thailand.

Finally, we found a mosque for Friday prayer. The taxi dropped us at the road site, and we needed to walk narrow paths besides large drains. Winding narrow lane at behind houses about 150 meters. There is no signage or mineret or kubah to identify it. Small mosque about 20×100 square feet. The ladies' prayer is about 8x10 feet square. Inside is clean with marble tiles. Meet the imam. The mosque is 240 years old. It serves Islam for 1500 Muslims. The ablutions area for men is in front of the mosque. The toilets and women's ablutions are located on the right side. The toilets are dirty and smelly.

My friend and I came to Bangkok and found new friends. One of them took us to her house and a mosque there. It located in a small road near Wat Arun (quite far actually). I was amazed with its design looked like buddhist temple. The mosque was not too big but it had air conditioner and fan. There's muslim cemetery behind and a building beside it used for teaching Islam to muslim children there. I think I won't find it if I go there again by myself. 😅
