Beautiful pillared library in square layout with pointed pyramid shaped roof. Mostly in gold colour with multi-coloured entricate designs all around. It is a part of Grand Palace complex and can be accesses with the same entrance ticket. May not be allowed to enter but the shape, colour and fine designs mesmerizes you from any angle.

It was built during the reign of King Rama I in 1789 for containing a large beautiful mother-of-pearl inlay book cabinet to house the Buddhist scripture. Each ornate building in Grand Palace Bangkok competes for attention, however I feel the Phra Mondop is the most beautiful of all of them.

Phra Mondop 1, another important point of Wat Phra Kaew.

This is perhaps the only pyramid construction built with dark colored materials and not covered with colored glass or other brightly colored materials that I have seen here in Bangkok. I don't quite understand if it should contrast with the nearby pagoda completely covered in gold or if it has another very specific meaning. However, it is still truly gorgeous.

Part of The Grand Palace; never open to the public. There is a stone Buddha at each corner.
