Indulging in the vibes of old town Bangkok — wandering around Klong-Ong-Ang community. What a great plan for holiday! The hostel is exceptionally impressive. The room is super comfy — and staffs are very helpful. Worth every penny!

I believe this place would be convenient for backpackers or simple couple or even single traveler, but it will be difficult for traveler who always bring lots of luggage, since this property is inside small alley, and about 100 meters from the main road. So car can't go in. Not recommended for family. Regarding the property itself, the location is great but the access to reach to this property is bad. It is nice environment inside the property, but not the outside. Yes they have clean room and common room, they do have Cafe just next to lobby, breakfast on the 3rd level, and reflecting pool where you can have sometime to relax. Don't forget to hang your "please make up my room" tag outside your door if you need to clean your room or even just to clean your trash bin. Otherwise no one will ever come to tidy up the mess.

Really beautifully decorated hostel. It's located on the edge of Chinatown, right next to a lovely canal full of small eateries during the day and very quiet at night. Dorm was very comfortable, good AC. Quiet and respectful guests, not a party place. Nice common areas but unfortunately many many mosquitos, so they are not very usable. Strong wifi but very annoying system which requires log on every time you reconnect.

Loved my 2 nights stay there in AMA hostel. The place is very clean and comfortable, there is lockers under the bunk bed which can only be opened with the assigned keys. The vintage chinese theme of the hostel makes it very unique, every corner of the hostel is an insta worthy spot. There are some food stalls outside by the river, and a small market which is opened in the day. The nearest mrt station is Sam Yot station where it is only less than 10 minutes away. Definitely a 10/10 stay, and I will surely come back again.

I couldn't even enter the lobby with five minutes left to check-in. I felt bad, so I came to another accommodation.

Service is very good and rooms are in excellent condition. The walking street nearby is not as attractive as it seems. A little far from MRT station as well as the main road.

I've never seen a hostel as beautiful as this. And it sure is difficult to find a find a quiet spot in Bangkok, but thus place is all you need for some down time.

The room was quite small but had everything that was necessary. Very good hairdryer, working shower. The beds and pillows were incredibly comfortable, we slept really good. Only thing, it was quite noisy especially in the morning. The staff was super friendly.

The hostel was completely empty. The location isn’t ideal. The rooms are newly renovated and nice.

Took the luxurious option of room with own bathroom, bit light sleeper for the shared rooms. Can say was one of the most pleasant accommodation have stayed in 25 years visiting Thailand. The traditional Chinese Merchant house makes an excellent hostel/cafe. Sturdy, filled with traditional and modern Chinatown flavoured art and decor. Little touches like wooden shutters for windows and doors, are not just for show but do an excellent job at keeping noise and heat out. Backed up with wonderful staff and a great location a definite gem of Bangkok, I feel lucky to have found and stayed at.

If you want a more chilled quiet vibe then this is the place. Easy to walk to china town and there’s coffee/food places to eat a 30seconds walk away on the canal. Seemed to be more middle aged travellers. Good common area to meet people, good price and the hostel itself is nice and clean. Not a party hostel. Great vibes

We had a fantastic stay at AMA Hostel. The room we had was compact, but very clean, modern with great A/C and was budget friendly. Very comfortable beds as well. The styling throughout is absolutely beautiful! Very in character with the history. We had booked to stay for 4 nights originally but our bus was getting in late and we would miss check-in times. The reception spotted this days in advance and clearly communicated that they regretfully weren't able to accommodate a late check in. By contacting us in advance, we were able to sort alternative accommodation for that night. We decided to stay the remaining 3 nights with them and were so glad that we did. The area is really lovely with friendly people and great food stalls by the river. The staff were wonderful, friendly and very helpful. The accommodation is close to Chinatown and only 30 minutes walk from The Grand Palace. Don't forget to checkout the upstairs lounging area with a little pool for your feet to cool off!

Small clean and quiet in the middle of food market not far from Chinatown BKK. Local food on day time near by the hotel are delicious. Fried dumplings is a must!

Good location near plenty of food and markets, plus a short walk to the MTR. WIFI in the room never worked and staff did not resolve. The least welcoming and engaging staff in all our stays in Thailand. Light from the hallway shines in from a window above the door, so the room can't be completely dark at night. Snacks and 2 bottles of water refilled daily.

FANTASTIC Hostel. 10 stars! UPDATE: after traveling around the world for 8 weeks with our family of 6, this hostel - the first one we stayed in on our journey - was by far the best. Really the gold standard. Read on to see why... /END UPDATE A little difficult to find because it is in an alley that no taxi can get to. But that's part of its charm. Very old Bangkok. Surrounded by countless shop stalls where families live and do business from, selling food or clothing or whatever. Bangkok is a city of merchants. AMA is even more attractive than the photos tell. It is very clean. Tastefully and beautifully decorated. Historic yet with all the modern conveniences you would hope for. Magnetic keycards for new locks in sturdy doors. Robust new air conditioning. Tankless water heaters in the modern glass showers for endless hot water. Strong WiFi. Free breakfast w strong coffee. Free bottled water in the rooms. Especially helpful staff. 24 hour front desk personnel. A locked sliding glass door separates the lobby from the living quarters so nobody should be in the living area who doesn't have a key. It is very quiet, being in an alley next to a leisurely canal. Mostly locals. Very few tourists. Yet easy to get anywhere by hailing a cab or tuktuk. Very family friendly. Our 4 boys were in their own room (en suite) with the coolest bunk beds we've ever seen. Everybody wanted the top bunk so they took turns. The 12 year old got first dibs because it was his birthday and they put a really fancy balloon customized with his name in the room waiting for us when we checked in. They also sold us a very nice chocolate birthday cake. The Mrs & I had our own room (en suite) next door, so we felt comfortable being so close. The ceilings are quite high, like 15 feet or so. We had a small balcony where we could hang clothes to dry and where others smoked. The door leading to the balcony locks from within. We really loved this place. Didn't want to leave. I doubt many other hostels we stay in this summer will compare favorably, AMA set such a high bar. Bravo AMA on creating such a wonderful, warm, beautiful, charming, safe place for travelers.

AMA is a fantastic hostel. The staff was very nice, they serve a phenomenal breakfast, and the rooms are clean and have great A/C. The only negative is really just the location. It isn't close to a lot (great for Chinatown). So you'll have a bit of a walk to get most places.

AMA is more like a hotel than a hostel. The entire hostel is spotlessly clean and luxuriously decorated, but with a friendly atmosphere and communal areas (rooftop bar, pool table etc). We got our rooms for a bargain price, the AC was great, the beds large and comfy and the sheets noticeably softer than any we'd had before. Also, I caught some kind of awful stomache bug and they were really incredibly kind and accomodating: they let me extend by a day on short notice and almost refused to take any extra money. Can't recommend highly enough.

I believe this Hostel serves it's purpose very well. Clean room, clean environment, clean bathrooms. It's also pretty safe, they got a locker in front of your bed and you can only access the premises and your room by using a magnet card. There seems to be someone I'm the front up 24-7, but I'd still advise calling them if you're checking in late at night (it's common courtesy among Hostels). They serve breakfast every morning and they got laundry service at 70THB / kg (pretty cheap IMO), clothes were smelling good at the end :). If you can't stand people snoring, bring earplugs, in most hostels that's going to happen.

I enjoyed my stay as I find the hostel to be absolutely beautiful on the inside. Very clean and Well kept. The staff was not always the most welcoming and there is a 500 baht deposit. Also, the sheets had holes in them. Other than that the stay was pleasant.

Nice building and decoration in Chinese style. Staff is friendly and nice to help. But the location is hard to find and the way to come is a little look dangerous to lost from a lot of intersection and some street is not on google map. I recommend to call to hostel and let them lead to this place.

👍 The Hostel is in a building with a nail spa, a Café and a bar. You have to walk to the second floor and pass a curtain on the frost floor. The Hostel and the stuff are awesome.
