Was later than expected, checked in at 20.50h, kitchen was still open for food and had a couple of cold ones after a 48h travel! Staff very friendly, AC was nice and cool, good location with shops and food nearby. Clear instructions such as no shoes, no noise, comfortable bed with privacy and electricity and separate storage! Really nice experience, and , kindly let me store my luggage for the day after check out and let me have a shower in the evening. 5* recommended 👌 KHOB KHUN

It's one of the best hostel I've ever visited! And francis is the best host! He will help you to plan your trip :) All over its a great quite place(perfect for work too) In very popular location of Bangkok, surrounded by skyscrapers. Meet lot of cool folks here! And had great time around Bangkok! Though I wish by next time they'll add few more food items in their menu. All over its a great drom stay. Don't forget to explore the roof top its kinda cool to chill.

Wanna give them a full 5/5. I was sadly scammed in Bangkok so that I checked in quite late at this hostel. Francis is sick a nice man who shares me lots of helpful tips in traveling and help me to become better. Room service is fantastic as toilets and bathrooms are always clean, free water and hygienic. Such a family vibe, hope to have a change to be back there in the future. Thank you for your service all staffs at Tropical 🌴

The staff were really friendly and super helpful. We stayed in a private bunk bed room which was very small with limited storage. The location also isn’t the best for exploring Bangkok because the river boat is a 30 minute walk away, so I would just bear this in mind when booking. But the hostel itself was clean and the staff were great.

Central location. The host Francis, is very helpful. You will find a lot of like minded backpackers here. It is very easy to locate this. They do coffee in the lobby as well. There is a cafe close by for a quick bite

This is one of the best hostels Ive stayed in, honestly on par with HostelOne if you have bagpacked in Europe. It is clean, nicely situated in Bangkok in a place with good food and cheap muay thai gyms if you're into that. A short grab ride to visit attractions as well. A chill rooftop hangout space to meet fellow travellers tops it off. Last but not least is Francis, the host there that honestly made the hostel experience fantastic. He will take good care of you and is a great person to talk to. This guy alone makes coming to Tropical Summer a 5 star. Highly recommend yall to check it out. -Joel

Stayed here for 2 nights with my mates before our flight back. We all wished we had stayed here sooner. Rooms and toilets were clean and it was a proper hostel setup with plenty of places to just sit with fellow travellers and chill. If it’s not for the rooms, you should definitely opt to stay here for Francis. Absolute legend. He tries to initiate conversations between fellow travellers which personally I really appreciated. From the start to the end there was not once where he did not make us feel welcome. One of the nights we all sat together and just chilled and bonded, it was one of those memorable moments from my trips that I did not exactly plan for. If you’re looking for more than a place to sleep, to meet new people and have a proper place in Bangkok which you could identify with as a home, this is that place. Cheers Francis and stay safe brother.

Great place with attention to cleanliness and overall quality. Maybe my only take would be that the rooftop was a bit smaller than expected and the place requires some walking to the nearest station, but that didn’t affect my experience enough to give it less than 5 stars. Also prices are reasonable. And -as many people mentioned here- Francis is really cool and helpful! It even reached a level where he goes out with people staying in the hostel, which is something I never witnessed in other hostels 😅 Would definitely stay there again in my next visit to Bangkok

The rooms are really really nice! The shower and toilets are clean too. The roof top terrace is really nice. Only downside are the really hard beds but the rest is absolutely worth it for the money.

Great concept, suits young travelers interested in budget travel and to get this hostel living experience. 15 min walk from mahanakhorn tower, sky train accessible, plenty of eateries around. Above all, polite and friendly staff. Recommended

Probably the best hostel I‘ve ever been to. It’s rather on the quiet side, so don’t go there, if you wanna meet party people. The dorms were amazing, lots of space in the lockers, lights and power plugs next to the bed and most importantly a curtain. The rooftop terrace had a spectacular view, from where you can watch the sunrise. Toilets and showers are nice and clean. Highly recommend.

Unfortunately my first flight to Bangkok got cancelled, that's why I arrived a day late and only got to stay for one night. Rooms are great, amenities as well, staff super friendly. It's just a little far from the city center and most if the tourist attractions. It takes some time to reach the nearest bus or train. Other than that, lovely stay!

When I stayed there last August, I was living in luxury! One of the staff women I saw every morning was friendly and patient. The shared spaces were gorgeous, comfortable, and chill. The beds/pods were specious and comfortable. I also had plenty of room to store my luggage. 100% would stay there again.

A cute and quiet place to stay. The hostel is impeccably clean, and the staff is very kind and helpful. Their krapow is possibly the tastiest one I’ve ever had. Coffee is great too, and everything super reasonably priced. I was happy to stay there again on my way out of the country, and I’ll be sure to stay there anytime I’m in Bangkok. Highly recommend! :)

Excellent rooms! We had a seperate room wich was nice and clean. They start the day a bit late for us (9a.m. or later) with no strict opening hour. So that felt like we weren’t the right target audience, since we wanted to start the day early. Definetly would still recommend to everybody, also because of the nice and friendly staff. Thanks!!

Really nice one night stay I had here, the staff was pleasant everyone was very welcoming and helpful. The rooms were clean and comfortable and I felt my bags were safe there as well due to the key pad locked doors they had for each room. I will be back there again when I am in the area 100%, recommended hostel absolutely

Very cute/cool hostel, with a good vibe. I liked chilling on the rooftop or downstairs in the sunny tropical summer cafe.

I'm really upset and angry with the team here and my most recent experience has not matched to my original experience of this place. Firstly, a local lady who had been in a fight was let into the hostel and into my room without any identification checks. This put me on edge and made me extremely anxious about my own safety as she followed me around the hostel as well! I spoke to the staff and they said they would move me to another room which did not happen. Then I asked for my own private room which fair enough was not available for the duration of my stay. So then one of the team took me to another hostel and advised me to book there and get a refund from tropical. At no point was I told or given any information about a cancellation policy and the owner penalised me 3 nights which is utterly disgusting and unreasonable. Is he aware locals with no ID are being let into the hostel compromising the other guests' safety? It is theft and I am not OK with it. One of the team paid me 2 of the nights from his own pocket which felt awful and I'm also not ok with that. I also received no apology about being made to feel anxious and unsafe in the hostel. I won't be back and I do not recommend this business as the owner has zero integrity. Extremely disappointed and sad.

The room and the bathroom facilities were kept very clean and the staff was amazingly friendly. I loved the location. Just a quick walk to delicious Thai street food.

I didn't feel very welcomed. Noone said properly hello when I arrived - I felt ignored. Staff was a bit rude and not very helpful. The room I was staying in didn't have a window, was super small (my bag didn't fit in) and the bed was stone hard. There's no soap and in my opinion theres no proper chill place - there's an area with beanbags and a Rooftop with tables but not really comfortable couches where you can sit and relax. It was okay for just a night but I was definitely expecting more (especially more kindness) after reading all the good reviews.

I spent one week at Tropical Summer Cafe & Hostel, I chose to stay here due to the fact that the host (Francis) was such a huge help, he was kind and caring. Francis was very accommodating with carrying my heavy luggage up two flights of stairs, he also had given me a list of places to visit that were safe and within the vicinity of the hostel. My room was a double private room, all self contained, clean and tidy. The hostel offered cleaning service as well as laundry service, the food on site was good, Francis was nice enough to help me purchase food from the street vendors and on the day of my birthday he threw me a small birthday 🎂 party and after his work shift he offered to take a group of us out for a night out on the streets. I was able to meet some very amazing people while at Tropical Summer, people that were genuine which made my stay even more epic. So if your looking for a place to stay and feel like you are cared for and looked after in a total strange environment thsy is not your everyday life community I recommend you try staying here. The host and the workers don't allow non staying members to enter the property for safety reasons. After 9pm the doors automatically lock so all staying members have to use their guest key card to come and go from the property. Honestly just come take a look for yourself.

Everything is clean and well-kept, staff provides amazing customer service, cafe is delicious with great prices. There isn't a whole lot of elbow room in here, but it's still a fair amount of space, especially provided what they're rates are for stay. I still had enough space to store all of my luggage so no serious issues. Thank you guys!

This is the best hostel when you are in bangkok, trust me! The hostel is nice, and super clean. Rooms are always clean like the toiletts, shower,... But the best is jet to come: Francis, an employee at the hostel, is such a friendly, open minded and courteous person. He is always happy while talking to the guests and a good guide for the city with lots of hints and ideas to spend a great time in bangkok. If you read until here you have to book it! – Toff

Clean hostel with great social areas (restaurant and comfy bean bag area). Free water provided which is always a bonus! Staff were friendly. Really nice rooftop area but be sure to wear shoes as the metal steps are black and get VERY hot!

The hostel is overrated. I booked a room and it’s ultra small (only 1.5 or 2 times the size of the bunk bed) and with no window. Just looked at it makes me suffocating so I decided to move to another hostel even I paid for the night already. Secondly, the staff was not helpful. I arrived late at 10.10pm, and called a number on Facebook and the staff sounded annoyed with me arriving late. Lastly, the location is not that of center of Bangkok. The hostel, overall, is very small. In Bangkok there are many more spacious hostels. I can’t reply to the owner below so I edit my comments here: no picture of the room on Agoda - or it’s mixed with 52 other pictures of the hostel. The description says the room is 13sq, twin room - but it’s never close to 13sq, as said - it’s only 1.5-2times the size of a bunk bed, so it’s barely 13sq.

The first hostel we have stayed in since landing in Thailand, and what a way to start it off!! It is a little bit out of the way, but don’t let that put you off booking as you can easily get into the heart of Bangkok. The actual hostel itself is very clean and has lovely spaces to chill out. The staff were amazing, especially Francis! They went above and beyond to accommodate us and anything we needed! It has a very nice vibe and we would highly recommend booking!

Hi! First, here is my biggest THANK YOU! Length of stay: 2 weeks Room: 8 shared beds About the room: I was impressed when I first arrived. There is one AC per room to keep it cool, two pillows, one soft blanket, a big desk with high chairs, very clean white sheets, two lockers (you have your own key) and each bed has a curtain so it gives you lots of privacy. You can definitely sleep throughout the day because the rooms are extremely quiet. About the hostel: there is always water available for free and glass cups, you can purchase coffee, water, beers, noodles, cereal, poke bowls and some other food at the entrance. There is a TV hall with video games, a nice rooftop with chairs, tables and an amazing view, many restrooms and bathrooms, a shared area where you can chat, work or just relax, free Wi-Fi, a washing machine (60 baht for doing your laundry) and some options of private rooms. You also have your own key that gives you access to your room and the hostel itself - very safe. About the staff: people here are extremely friendly! The host Francis is the kindness himself. From the beginning, he gave me so many good tips about what to do in Bangkok, how to keep my money, we had great conversations and he even taught me some Thai! They are polite, respectful, fun and they are always making sure that you are ok and satisfied. About my experience: I had to leave to Phuket for 5 days and left my suitcase at the hostel. They took a very good care of it and texted me saying that everything was ok. I was never worried nor overthinking which made my trip even greater. I was able to connect with many people from every part of the world and also make special new friends. I truly have nothing to complain about. Close to the hostel you can find an ATM (2 min walking), a grocery store, a pharmacy, the hospital is nearby and Francis will help you downloading the right apps so you can get here and there. Next time in Bangkok is for sure next time staying here. Thank you all! You made my trip completely delightful! 💜 A big hug from Brazil! 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷

Though I stayed at this place back in 2019, It still flashes back to my mind vividly. The lively atmosphere, the sweet friendly vibe of the staff, the comfortable homely feeling, the splendidly interminable view of the city from the roof spot had really made this place a special one during my stay at Thailand. I would like to stay here longer the next time I plan for a trip to Thailand, the place is indeed no less than home😁😊💯

Amazing hostel, with very modern fixtures and fittings. All areas are very clean, and beds are super luxurious for a bunk bed. Francis (front of staff) was brilliant, and able to provide service that went above and beyond most other hostels.

This is the best hostel I’ve been to! Very clean, comfy beds, good wifi, great food and communal areas including a rooftop, but the best part has to be the staff and especially Francis! He become one of our very good friends over the 4 nights we stayed there (we extended 2 nights because we loved it so much). He is so caring and helpful, speaks great English so can help direct you around Bangkok and sometimes he will take you out at night! Thank you so much Francis we can’t wait to stay again in a few weeks xx

The hostel was great! The host is really nice and you meet a lot of great people, while you're there. The rooftop is nice as well for enjoying a beer at sunset. The hostel location is not perfect but you can walk to next sky train station within 5-7 minutes.

  • 4/5 Moumita D. 1 year ago on Google
It was a good hostel, neat and clean. But i think it's costlier than it should be. There were less no of toilets on each floor. We stayed in a twin bedroom which had a single bunk bed. And there was literally no place left in the room which is natural as it's a hostel. The reception guy was friendly and helpful. Location is alright. The train station is walkable but a bit far to walk if you have luggage. They have a proper kitchen on the ground floor or as they call it the first floor. They ask you to leave your shoes downstairs which keeps it cleaner. They provide free drinking water.

This was my first hostel to ever stay in. I was recommended by a friend, and I must say it was amazing. Everyone here was beyond friendly and extremely helpful. From directions, to suggestions, helpful tips, to accommodations, and cleanliness . If you are looking for a place to stay and meet some incredible people, I highly recommend coming to see Francis. Thank you Tropical Summer 🙏🤙

I booked a dorm here for 2 nights and I absolutely loved it. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. The staff was super friendly and woke up to open the door for me 2 hours before opening time. The vibe of the hostel is also really good. so overall i had a amazing experience!

  • 5/5 Soren S. 1 year ago on Google
This place is pretty awesome. Francis' hospitality is unmatched and he makes a point to familiarize himself with all guests and make all feel welcome. He even took a large group of us to Khaosan Road one night. Beds are a little hard and there was a leak at one point in the bedroom, but I will absolutely stay here again if I come back to Bangkok.

  • 5/5 Stine H. 1 year ago on Google
The Hostel was great, the staff is great and especially Francis is the kindest person, very helpful and social. There is a BTS station really nearby. And there is enough space for socializing, the terrace, the lobby and the chill area on the first floor. The mattresses are a bit hard, compared to what we are used to in Germany, but after the first night we got used to it. And everything was very clean. So very recommendable. If we will ever be in Bangkok angain this is the Hostel we are returning to. Thank you!

Love this hostel - super clean, great vibes, friendly travelers, good location to other parts of Bangkok (short Grab to most places). Francis is also an amazing and friendly host 👍🏻

The hostel itself is nice and facilities are clean. The hosts are very helpful and gave us directions to various destinations. The only issue we had was that the private twin room was tiny and did not have a window, which made it very stuffy inside to the point that we had to keep our door slightly opened at all times to allow air to circulate (there was an AC unit but was not helping much).

Welcoming and friendly staff. A comfortable place to stay pretty well situated in the city. Well air-conditioned room. The rooftop is the winning feature of this hostel. The view is excellent. Would happily stay here again.

I had an incredible stay at this hostel! The rooms were impeccably clean, and the overall ambiance of the hostel was beautiful. The host was exceptionally friendly and went above and beyond to assist us with everything we needed. The rooftop was a perfect oasis away from the bustling city below. In fact, we found ourselves spending more time there than exploring the city itself. I would love to return to this hostel in the future for another fantastic stay.
