The Authors' Lounge was such a fantastic experience. It's nestled in the Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok and is so beautiful. It's such a serene and traditional environment; possibly the best place I've ever had tea at. My cousin took me here for Afternoon Tea. We ordered two sets, the Cherry Blossom set and the Oriental set. The Cherry Blossom set was arranged on a basic 3-tiered stand (rather wish it came out like in the picture on the menu), whilst the Oriental set was arranged in a traditional Thai-style lunch carrier. Loved that. The food from both sets were quite nice. I liked the Oriental set a lot more though. It's uniquely Thai, and not available in any other country. The Cherry Blossom set had some rather standard flavours—delicious—but flavours I can get elsewhere. For the tea, I chose the Mandarin Oriental Bangkok blend. It was highly aromatic, and brewed perfectly. If I had space in my luggage, I'd probably have checked if I could buy some home. The service was excellent, as one would expect. Overall, the Afternoon Tea was highly enjoyable, and I've already decided I'll stay at the Mandarin Oriental for a few nights next time I'm in Bangkok, just so I can have the tea set here again!

The interior was nice, a bit OTT. I think it's time to refresh its furnishing (old fashioned fabric and furniture) The brunch set was superb. Love both book of love and Thai set. The main big problem is no Mariage Freres!!! The real off-putting with TWG.

If you look around The Authors' Lounge, you will notice a collection of unique and historical pictures and memorabilia of some of the famous authors who have stayed at the Mandarin Oriental over the last 144 years. The famous writer Somerset Maugham liked to stay here and the lounge was named after him in his honour. It is with them in mind that the management of the Mandarin Oriental had created this unique Western Afternoon Tea set. The Authors' Lounge famed Afternoon Tea Sets are offered daily from noon until 6p.m.

I really enjoyed afternoon tea here. My mom and I ordered western set and oriental set respectively. Both are really delicate and amazing. But maybe because of my dining custom, I prefer western set more. Oriental set is really traditional Vietnamese style tho and definitely worth trying. Overall i like salty desserts >>oriental set>>sweet portion in western sets The overall space design is stunning as well. By dividing whole lounge into three spaces definitely give customers more privacy and lower the noise down. Service is wonderful too. Feeling really lucky to start off my trip in Thailand by a set of delicate afternoon tea

5 star for the ambience and experience. This place is simply amazing. Slow down and enjoy a relaxing tea. Don’t miss going to the garden behind for more photo opportunities, and catch a ferry to ICONSIAM. The food, pastries in the sets are pretty, and served beautifully, which is what most are looking for anyways😅

We were staying at the hotel and decided to try the high tea here as there were excellent reviews. The service here was excellent, from when you are led to your table, as the food is served and the payment process. The manageress took the time to go to every table to ask about the experience, and even shared some information about the delicacies with us. We had the Western and the Asian sets, with orange pekoe and red pelican teas. The food was well presented in several tiers, with each section being cleared and taken away as we finished. Portionwise, it was good and the food was tasty. One thing, we felt there were not enough savory edibles, and there was a tad too much cream used in the cakes and sandwiches. It was a great experience and my wife and I enjoyed the service. Do take the time to walk about the various lounges to read about the literary greats who have visited.

spent a lovely afternoon at the author’s lounge enjoying their afternoon tea. as expected, the service was immaculate with the right level of attention and courtesy without being stuffy or overbearing. i expected more from the food though. we tried all sets on the menu - the oriental, vegan, and mid-autumn festival special. some things from the oriental set were soggy, and the scones were on the harder and drier side. the sweets though were all delicious, and despite not having a vegan in our group, we all agreed that the vegan set was overall the best out of the 3 (except for the scones, i don’t think you can make decent scones without butter 😅) if you want a more laid back vibe, i’d suggest getting a later reservation. our’s was at 4pm and we basically had the place to ourselves by the time we left at 6:30pm. we weren’t hurried by the staff to leave at all. be sure to visit the garden at the end of the lounge that overlooks the chao phraya river!

Afternoon tea at the Authors’ Lounge is a luxury experience reminiscent of late early C20 Bangkok. Booking ahead is essential. If you have the English afternoon tea set don’t be fooled by how pretty everything is. The top two rows are sweet the bottom two savoury.

Visiting the second time, this time we came for out anniversary. Had requested for a good table and they ensured the good spot in the main room was reserved for us. We ordered the Western Christmas Set and the Oriental Set. I've had the Oriental Set before and it's definitely the go to. It comes with mostly Thai favourites and snacks. It is heavier on the savoury side and that's what I prefer. This time came with mango scones and a lime chilli sorbet (gives a kick and is surprisingly refreshing). The place has been maintained well and adorned with all the prominent guests who have visited and stayed at the hotel and the old Mandarin Oriental Bangkok. If you order a set for yourself, you get unlimited refills for 2 hours. So if you are planning on doing this, go on an empty stomach as the regular set itself is quite heavy. For vegetarians and vegans, they have a dedicated set - so you'll not be left out. Will keep returning regularly.

We rated this a 4.5 deriving from 5 for atmosphere (25%) 5 for service (25%) 4 for taste (50%). We loved the oriental tea set with seasonal dish (khoa chae) . A mix bag on the western tea set. Over all, a very enjoyable experience

This place with no doubt is one of my favorite places to go for the afternoon tea. Although I like the classic western one a bit more than the one with Japanese theme I had on my last visit, they still delivered 5 stars experience. Food and drink can be refilled. Staff are always attentive to details. Peaceful environment.

We had the Christmas afternoon tea set. It's ashamed that the music box was all gone so we did not get that. However, the pastry was great with dedicated work for the tiny little pieces. There were two types jam ( rose petal and something else) but they were not my cup of tea though

Elegant tea lounge, there is special Christmas afternoon tea menu. Traditional Mandarin Oriental tea had sweet smell and green tea flavor, good to eat sweets.

Very beautiful setting, extremely nice staff. The tea set is very good for a reasonable price as you can keep reordering ( buffet style ). The tea also gets refilled. Very nice to unwind in a beautiful environment. The hotel has nice garden areas where you can go for a walk. The hotel offers valet.

Classic English Tearoom to enlighten you with wonderful Afternoon Tea sets. We tried both Western and Thai sets. The Western set was our favorite. Nice place to relax and chat with friends and celebrate special occasion.

A great experience and phenomenal service. I have had some high tea or afternoon tea services but this one is by far the best. The excellent service and attention provided to each guest to give them the best possible experience is amazing. I was luckily visiting BKK during the Chinese New Years and was able to try their special course which was a treat for the eyes and taste buds. Service was so good that my teacup was never left empty and I was asked if I wanted refills on any of the savory or sweet dishes all of which were amazing. I only wish I had a larger stomach size to enjoy more. If I were to nitpick about anything it would be the serving tongs that were provided with the course. Because of the shape/texture of some of the softer pieces it was unavoidable to slightly crush them when picking them up with the tongs. Leading to a slightly crushed or damaged look on the plate. Overall an excellent experience and I would definitely recommend to others and visit again.

I just found this super unique and yummy spot for afternoon tea. And get this, they have unlimited refills! Can you believe it? I've been to a bunch of afternoon tea places in Bangkok, but none of them offered refills before. It was seriously impressive. The food was top-notch, and to make it even better, they had live music playing. I highly recommend you take a break and check it out. Trust me, you won't regret it!🍵🎶💖

We ordered three different sets of afternoon tea. Only a few ones tasted good, below average overall. The tea was supplied by TWG, which was amazing. The staff were all friendly and attentive. Free shuttle boat comes handy.

👍 A very fairytale cafe with Unicorn 🦄 theme. 🦄What I love: Well-decorated, colorful furniture, wide menu selection. Menu has milktea, coffee, desserts and even main fast food. The food and drink is tasty. Price is very reasonable, bill of 2 person is 500THB, which is 250THB/person. 💔What I do not...
