This is a complete waste of money and a very disappointing experience. You pay the same price (200Bht) to visit this "so called" National Gallery, as the National Museum. Don't bother, visit the superb National Museum instead. At the National Gallery only a few of the rooms are open and yet they still charge 200 Bht. Even if all the rooms were open, it probably wouldn't get more than 3 stars. I say again, don't waste your money on this place visit the 5 star National museum instead. You're not even allowed to take photos here. It's very rare I give a 1 star for a place, but this deserves it.

The day I went to the National Gallery in Bangkok was an unexpectedly sad day in an otherwise enjoyable trip to Thailand. We were informed by the box office staff that the museum was only half open, and my friend and I paid 200 baht per person for admission. The number of works on display was very small. After the visit, I looked at other people's reviews to write a review and found that the museum was only charging 30 baht for a limited time because it was only half open. What was surprising was that when visitors complained to the ticket taker about being charged 200 baht for a partially open museum, it was written that she gave them tickets for 100 baht or 30 baht. Someone even wrote in a review that they paid 200 baht and got a ticket with 30 baht written on it. I never imagined that I would be scammed at a national institution for the price of a ticket. Even in a gallery displaying artwork!

As of June 2023, this museum is not fully open, but they still charge the regular ticket price. Now, most of the exhibits look like modern art, and one room looked like an exhibition for an artist enamored with Picasso. Skip this one until it is fully open.

The National Gallery is a short walk around the corner from several other parks and museums. For only 30 Baht, visitors get access to main spaces that are open as well as the sculpture garden. Visitors should not pay anymore than 30 Baht either in advance or online. They do a lot of repairs and recirculating, so everything is not always open... With that said, we had a chance to see local artists and a Thai professor's exhibition. There is a timeline of past artists influenced by Western culture as well as a welcome from King Rama IX. Overall it's worth an hour and a half of your time. Families will love the expanse, shade and air conditioned exhibits and picnic area at the National Gallery.

One adult ticket costs 200 baht. It is currently under remodeling. 6, 7, 8, on display only in the exhibition hall. Considering the exhibition situation, the ticket price is expensive.

I can't say that this gallery is completely unworthy of the time and money spent, but I was a bit disappointed. The painting collection is weak, and there are only four rooms open for visitors. Across the road from this gallery, there is a National museum that is ten times more interesting and larger. And the admission fee is the same 200 thb.

Don’t waste your time. Really disappointing. Many of the photos with this listing are actually of the National Museum, which is nearby, and really terrific. Go there instead.

Interesting museum, we enjoyed it. But we were done in half an hour, plenty of photos of pieces of art we see here are not (or not anymore?) in the National Gallery. And we were the only visitors.

Due to the passing of the King entry to the national musuem was free when we went. The displays of the thai history were beautiful. I would have liked to get more information regarding the history of Thailand and about the previous Kings, but it is definitely worth going here as part of the temple tours. I would recommend going.

Note: The national Museum is undergoing renovation and some sections are closed or are in need of repair. The 200 baht entrance fee does not justify a visit at this state. For the new and remodeled exhibition halls, it's deservingly good at 4 star. Go learn some history!

Good museum. Loved the architecture of the buildings to begin with. The displays are also good. However, felt that there was not a lot of diversity. The museum shop was nice too.

Way better than I expected. Seamed small at first, but opens up to a good variety of exhibits. All very different, a good way to kill some time for free.

Not very much to see but it’s free. i would recommend if you are into thai royal history in a beginner level. You can see some of the paintings by the King which are adorable. When you look at paintings of the Kings, they leave more impressions on your mind than just numbers like Rama VI.

Most photos here are from National Museum, Not from this place(National Gallery) people who upload them are just confused. Small collections of art. under-maintained gallery. Not worth the admissions fee especially if you're a foreigner(multiple time more expensive than local people).

(Translated by Google) Unfortunately not recommended at all. The building contains only 6 rooms. In addition, there are always exhibitions that go through 3-4 other rooms. For the proud price of 200 baht (the palace costs the same), there is simply not enough here. In addition, the entire site is probably currently being renovated.

If you can go on one of the free days, maybe it's worth 30min if you are in the area. But 200THB for foreigners is certainly not worth the fee. No parking.

It's a very strange place, I was the only visitor. Not many paintings for a gallery this size. Some of the paintings are good but most were average at best. There are some paintings by members of the royal family. The staff were very insistent that I go through the gallery in a particular order which was weird. If you like art and are looking for something to do might as well visit, otherwise I recommend skipping. The ticket admission really is 200B. The tickets have the price printed on them.
