The dish portion of the restaurant is unexpectedly large even if you choose small. All you see in the pictures is small portion, except the fried frog. This is a surprise to us because we were planning to taste many dishes but ended with 5 big dishes 🤣🤣🤣 The dishes are tasty. It would be even better if they could provide table salt or soya sauce for diners who prefer a bit of saltiness 😁 The waitress was very friendly and cute. We like her a lot. All in all, it is a pretty good restaurant.

The Curry Crab was rich and the crab tasted fresh, but it lacked any real flavour of curry. The crab fried rice arrived cold and was disappointingly bland as well. The prawns were fresh and delicious, but everything else was average about the dish. Much too expensive for the quality you are getting. I would definitely categorize this place as a tourist trap.

Excellent place, the well known speciality is curry crab. It has a much longer menu with mix of Chinese and thai style This particular branch is difficult to find as the location is not precise in Google maps There is usually a waiting list, with the inconvenient that have to wait out. So it can be very hot

It’s not worth the hype, or maybe we chose the wrong branch. The food wasn’t good. The river prawn tasted fishy. I thought the river prawns at thonburi market place was bad enough and I couldn’t believe this place actually beat that. The signature fried curry crab was about average until it got bitter in some parts. I’m guessing it’s because it’s not fresh. The Thai style shrimp salad was about average as well. Most servers were like “I hate this place, I hate this job, I don’t want to be here.” The place wasn’t clean at all. We had high hopes for somboon seafood but unfortunately the only good thing about this experience was the Diet Coke. The only reason I’m not giving it a zero star is because of the Diet Coke.

Tasty dishes like crab meat curry, deep fried minced prawn roll, blanched cockles. Fast service too. Came early so getting a table was not a problem but by the time we finished our lunch, there were many customers waiting outside.

Each time we visit Bangkok, a visit to Somboon Seafood is a must for their signature curry crab dish. If you can afford it, order the live crab. The vermicelli prawn clay pot, crispy fish with sweet and salty fish sauce are really good too. The staff were friendly and polite. Air conditioning could be better too. Try to go early if you can to avoid a long queue.

This is my second time eating Somboon but I found the food and service quality slightly lacking compared to their Central World Branch. During dinner time, this outlet seems less busy than the other branch. Food wise, I think the taste and quality is still there just not as mindblowing as the other outlet. So... If you don't wish to squeeze or queue in line.. this is a pretty good alternative. They do provide kids friendly utensils and high chair but do note that it does not come with a buckle.

Absolutely disappointing for a chain that is on the Michelin guide. Their signature fried curry crab was served lukewarm, with neither the taste of curry or crab. It feels like you’re just eating mush. The oyster omelette on a hot plate was also tasteless. Total order came up to about THB 2,500 for 4 dishes, 1 rice and 2 drinks. Absolutely overpriced for the quality of food served.

Inside the restaurant is hot, seems like no air conditioning Bad Service Curry crab quite good, Grilled fish is 2nd deep fried one, bad taste No grilled seafood provide, disappointed We order crab, but no tools provide to open the crab unless you ask.... also no plastic gloves, no wet tissue.....

Somboon is my all time favorite fried curry crab place for more than 20 yrs. But it was the first time for this branch. (Original branch - Surawongse) Oysters with eggs - 10/10 This's the original right version that it should be for this dish, not crispy✅. Oysters were big enough to get the bouncy texture. You can add sweet chili sauce for more tasteful. Fried curry crab - 10/10 They have 2 types of this dish. One with only crab meat and the other one with whole crab comes with the crab's shell. I don't like to get my hands dirty so I ordered the first one. Recommend to eat with rice and/or green chili "Seafood Sauce" Crispy prawn salad - 8/10 Good crispy prawnball and Thai style sour and spicy green mango salad. Love it. Thai taste ✅ Only drawback was the air-conditioner. It didn't work properly, couldn't keep the temperature cool 😞

Somehow, the other outlet tastes better. We didn't have to wait for walk-in. Service was good and fast, overall still acceptable, especially if you crave for crabs I guess.

2nd time to Somboon. The 1st experience at CentralWorld wasn't too bad. But the food at One Siam Square branch is pretty bad. Especially the River Shrimps Noodles, it is completely tasteless. No return visit to Somboon anymore...

Alot of dishes we wanted to order were sold out. Eg most seafood Lucky their signature curry crab is available. 👍👍 I would prefer the version with just the crab meat.. Too lazy to dig the meat out fr the shell.

It’s good dishes for Chinese people. But if u r not Chinese or ethnic Chinese, I don’t think it’s suitable for u. It will take a lot of courage for you to eat these😂

I wasn't expecting too much after being back in BKK for the first time after Covid. On a whole, very touristy restaurant. Food is good but nothing to shout about. Seafood is definitely fresh. But the taste is just not memorable.

Save yourself the disappointment and go to any other branch. This one is beyond saving with the basic curry crab tasting so much worse, weird off putting smell throughout the restaurant, service is also extremely slow as if they are cooking the rice to order. With the inattentive staff we had to ask for the check 3 times before finally able to get out of there

I had a great meal at Somboon. I had the Tom Yum Goong first it was rich flavorful and loaded with big shrimps. I came in the next day for the Curry Crub as was mentioned in the Michelin Guide. I can’t say that it was earth shuttering but it was Ok. A lot of work to get the meat out of these crabs 🦀

Bought my mum down to try this. She loves it. Everything was fresh. Though the Gong Bao chicken could be more. The minced crab roll is on a next level. There were chunks of crab meat inside. Highly recommended.

At Somboon you're always sure you will have good and quality food

Amazing crab. Very fresh and the sauce was very tasty (not spicy at all, which was good). The crab shell comes pre-cracked and you can ask the waiter to crack it further if need be. They also provide a Nutcracker if you need it. Definitely try the green veggies to go with their signature crab. The crab fried rice and fish was also so good. Ask for handwashing water at the end - it's scented, use the lime to scrub your fingers. Restaurant chain, might need booking or you can go to another branch if it's full
