Cool market and the only market so far that is in Banjul. They sell a whole lot of goods. I have heard people say that they have the best catfish so far and from the look of things and experience, it seems to be true. African attire clothes too, especially those that the tourists do buy, are cheaper there than any other market. It is a very cool place to visit. Try it out!

A must on a visit to Banjul. Not necessarily to buy anything but for the experience. Make sure you stick with your trusted driver or guide and watch your pockets and bags - wear your backpack at the front! Also be aware of people around you. Each time we visited we noticed we were being followed from a distance by a man. Every turn we made he would also turn, every time we stopped at a shop he too would stop and wait from a distance, watching. Luckily nothing sinister has ever happened but it's sensible to just be aware. Also be wary of taking too many photos. Some of the local people are not used to cameras and don't like their photos taken. I feel this review could be seen as negative, however, visiting Albert Market is one of my favourite things to do when visiting Banjul. It's a really good experience. Oh and lastly be prepared for the sights and smells.... Particularly the smells in the food section!!!

I love this place. In the capital it is one of the old markets. Anything, from modern day fashion, to fresh fruits and veggies, meat, fish, art, musical instruments, fabrics, and jewelry can be found here. One of my favorite places so it embodies the spirit of African community and commerce. It is huge and a whole day can be spent just walking around, taking in the sights. I highly recommend Albert market for a true Gambia experience

(Translated by Google) Pure Africa, you have to see and enjoy. Buying and trading is a must. You can also buy drinks, the Coca-Cola bottle that I drank was unfortunately dirty inside. Not only mine, they were all dirty, I managed to get home healthy. Bottom up! Prost!

We are staying in Kololi and wanted to go to the Albert Street market, in banjul. We hired a taxi 🚖 that we used the day before to go to Jungle beach. Lamin drives a daihatsu jeep, which is a 4x4 that can manage the roads. He took us to the market and walked around with us. The market is a maze I recommend you go with someone that knows their way around. The market wasn't as busy as usual due to Eid. There is no fixed price on anything in the market, bartering is required to get to the price you want to pay! If they name a price respond with a maximum of half that price and see how it goes. Goods for sale vary from food, clothes, shoes, fish, meat, vegetables, phones and accessories, wooden crafts, cloth and tailoring and leather goods. We brought a handbag, which for 2900 dalasi you could probably get it cheaper, but it cost £30.00 which I thought was a bargain. We brought some fridge magnets and a pair of men's leather sandals. We were given a free gift of a bracelet by the stall holder. Once you show interest in an item, the seller will try and sell it to you or something else. You may feel under pressure. Depending which route your driver takes, it can be very scenic and interesting watching the Gambian population shop and drive in the busy traffic. I highly recommend Lamin Sankareh as a taxi driver and guide. You can find him in Kololi by the El Sol restaurant. He's a good driver and an excellent source of information about Gambia and the towns you may drive through.

After checking out the market, don’t forget to get by the seaside just behind the market. It has a low key cool view of a local fishing port, a ferry dock and a seaport. A contrast is clearly visible from the local fishing boats, ferry service and big shipping container ships.

I believe it's the largest market in The Gambia. There are a lot of varieties of items. I fed my eyes. Got to buy some oranages from a very nice lady. They told me they were as sweet as sugar, and guess what?! They did not lie! I still need to understand how the red dry fishes are made.

Great market where you can find crafts, goods and all kinds of food, well provided, and not too crowded (Serekunda's market is too busy). We found all we were searching for... Worth the visit!!

Great and busy market where you can get a range of items including food stuff, clothing, and home supply. It is a typical busy African market and you get fresh food items. There is also a section that sells art and craft.

The best market in Banjul where you can buy different types of products by the locals. It also very famous to western tourists as most of the tour companies organise tour to this market

It's a good market, much calmer than the average capital city market in other African countries. There are a few touts that will try to clean drag any white person to the tourist section. Just be direct and say no thanks.

(Translated by Google) Reaching this market alone can be an adventure. If you don't want to be guided by an organized tour to the places that the guide thinks are worth seeing, all that's left is the "bush taxi" or one of the numerous taxis. Once at the market, the path leads through winding alleys and mostly dusty, somewhat dingy market stalls. Found the market in serekunda more interesting. But was probably because it was the first market visit here.

As a seafarer I came here just to buy some fruit for the voyage on the ship. I approached some salesman to buy tangerines 200 dalasi/kilo. Than another salesman from the shop rushed to me, offering that his fruits are better. So I was a witness of literally a fight of 2 businessmen) Finally, I bought the fruits from the first guy.

This is a real African market with everything you'd expect - hustle bustle, peddlars, hawkers, chancers. Be prepared to barter or they'll make a fool of you. I picked up a shell on the beach, a guy offered to wash it for me, then wanted to charge me for it! Not for the faint hearted.
