We had been going there for years before moving away. It was our favorite sub shop and we ate there weekly. The elderly couple who owned the place were usually sitting at their booth and it was a great family atmosphere. The last few years, we have had the opportunity to travel through Ellsworth several times a month during the summer and was excited to be able to get my favorite pepperoni sub with sweet relish. It is such a disappointment that the quality and quantity of fillings has dropped so low and price has gone up. I tried for a second time this month, even telling the young lady taking my order that the roll for my sub last week was very stale & hard so please make sure to make it with a fresh soft roll. She basically shrugged it off without even an apology?! My sub was even worse than the one last week. The pepperoni was burnt, something had a bitter aftertaste and it had a very minimal amount of vegetables with almost no relish. About a 3rd of the roll was hard, as well. Definitely not worth trying again, I'm done.

Disgusting. I’d rather eat gas station sushi. Workers did not wash their hands before making sandwiches (after handling phones), wore no gloves. Ended up throwing out the overpriced E. coli sandwich. None of the ingredients were at safe food temperatures. Workers didn’t care. Apparently under new ownership who should NOT be in restaurant business. Should have walked out and not taken sandwiches. Absolutely disgusting

I've been visiting Ellsworth giant sub for 45 years as an adult and I can honestly say that the food has never disappointed. The service is always great with a good family friendly atmosphere. I have to say I'm a little partial because I'm particularly fond of the super sub with hot relish and you can't go wrong with the BLT sub. What am I saying is all good. Give it a try if you get a chance.

Contrary to the name “giant subs” their subs are not particularly large in any capacity, but that’s the least of their problems. They overcharged us for the two subs we got, and while my girlfriend got her sub mostly the way she ordered it, I just got a sad dried bit of meat in a bun. No cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, or anything that I had asked for on my sub. The fries had no salt and were closer to chips. But wait! There’s more. Both our sandwiches had hair in it. So yeah not the most sanitary either. I’d recommend going someplace else. Even subway can at least serve food hair free.

We've been going to giant sub for years haven't had much issues but tonight's subs were actually disgusting. It seems the staff ignored all the details on the orders, never have I been so disappointed with giant sub. Next time you visit and the owner isn't present your in for a piss poor meal, better off walking out and going elsewhere. I've never been SO disappointed with a sandwich. I will be giving this sub shop quite a break for a while. I like the owner I usually like the subs but tonight's were disgusting and not even the full orders.

My sub(veggie with cheese) was really good, but they got it wrong(forgot the cheese). Other sandwich (pastrami &provolone) was just ok (fatty and pretty tasteless). Person taking orders was very friendly and patient. She was willing to answer any questions. Person making subs was not thrilled to be working today. Got the order a couple ahead of us wrong and was not happy to have to remake it. Would try again though

Delicious sandwiches, a great mom and pop sandwich shop. Great staff and 50 diner type atmosphere. There is a large menu of hot or cold sandwiches. Some fresh baked brownies, Whoopeie Pies, plus chips and cold drink to complete your meal.
