If you want to taste perfect khaja, go for that 'kaali shah' khaja. You'll know the exact shop just by looking at people's rush at a particular shop. Price there is higher than the rest of shops but it's worth it.

Khaja is a crispy puffed Indian sweet dish made of flour and sugar/jaggery. Silao is famous for its Khaja. Kali Khaja shops decorate the entire lane. It falls enroute Rajgir, on coming from Patna. Silao Khaja obtained its GI tag in 2018. It now officially belong to Nalanda district of Bihar. Another place in India famous for its Khajas is Jagannath Puri, where it is offered as Prasad to the Lord of the temple. While Puri Khaja is more solid, the water in Nalanda has higher pH and Chlorine that adds to the puffiness of the Silao Khaja. It is a 15 layered dessert, that can be had at any time of the day or year. However, during monsoons its shelf life reduces to 2 days. In drier seasons, it can be stored in an air-tight container for upto 15 days. Silao Kali shops offers sample Khaja's for tasting. Look out for those that do not leave a greasy layer on mouth upper palate upon eating. 0.5kg contains 8-10 pieces. Cost as on 2nd April 2022 is Rs 80/kg.

Silao Khaja are very best in taste. Both sweet and salty khaja's are soft, crunchy and tasty. Salty khaja's, you have to keep it carefully because it get crushed easily. Sweet khaja's are very tasty. We can keep both khaja for longer time.

World class export quality KHAJA. But often there is a waiting time after placing the order. So keep some spare time if you want to purchase from the original KALI SAW KHAJA
