Stepped in here just on a whim. I really like how they do their tapas here. They have a variety of dishes on display for one to try. Pick the ones you want and place it on your plate. You are charged by the toothpicks at the end of the night. I liked that you could see the dish and try one immediately instead of ordering a whole plate of something. Excellent service, chatty waitress who was wonderful. We went on a Sunday evening, so the atmosphere was as expected.

Interesting hole in a wall diner. For those grabbing a quick bite there's standing space along the walls. If one fancies a sit down, there's a dining area deep inside. A buffet style dining experience with finger food. Do however keep the toothpicks as they use that to count the order. Each stick was about €2.50.

Awesome food, fantastic hospitality, must try when you are in Barcelona. Their beef is from "matured" cows, very beefy, and their fat tasted like foie gras.

Our hotel was very close to this bar. We have been here twice. Very delicious, wide range of pintxos, good red wine. The waiters were very communicative and helpful. The interior is very rustic. Good memory.

Great place for tapas and drinks. It can be very busy, but if you can squeeze up to the bar, it's worth it. Hold onto your toothpicks- that's how they know how much to charge you at the end.

Great small taverna in the heart of the old gothic part of Barcelona with a delicious variety of tapas. The prices are the same for all the different types of food so you just get a place at the bar, get a plate and start tasting the variety. The cold tapas is on the counter but they will bring new hot dishes often and you can pick from those as well. Take your time and enjoy a good glass of wine or a beer.

Taverna Basca Irati is a Basque-style tavern located in Barcelona, Spain. The atmosphere at Taverna Basca Irati is lively and convivial, with a warm and welcoming ambiance. The decor is rustic and traditional, with wooden tables and chairs, exposed brick walls, and a cozy fireplace. The staff is friendly and attentive, making sure that customers feel right at home. The tavern is known for its delicious pintxos (Basque-style tapas), which are perfect for sharing with friends over a glass of wine or beer. Overall, Taverna Basca Irati offers a fun and authentic Basque experience that is not to be missed.

This is one of my favourite spots to have tapas in Spain. If you want to experience proper Spanish food this is the place to come. The staff here are super friendly and go over and beyond to provide you great service. The food is amazing here and you will not be disappointed with the quality nor the selection of food here. I would highly recommend a visit to this place for dinner.

The pintxos were so good, and they had gluten free bread they made me special ones on. They also had gluten free beer. Our server was amazing, so helpful and sweet. It was busy and he still took me behind the bar to walk me through which one he could make me that were gluten free. Highly highly recommend.

Local tapas bar. They had a pretty wide variety of tapas. Grab a plate, pick as many tapas you like, then at the end, they count the number of toothpicks and you pay!

Great Pintxos mostly filled with locals. Very few seats so you might need to stand at the bar (closer to the food!). To get 5 stars the drink service could have been a bit better

I went here expecting a lot and was disappointed, maybe the concept of pintxos just isn’t for me. I’d prefer prepared to order food rather than stuff that’s been sitting around for countless hours. The “cold tapas” are self serve from the bar and the “hot tapas” are served passed by the waitstaff. The blueberry cheesecake one was the highlight of the cold tapas. Service was great. Maybe go during peak times for the best experience, while fighting for space could be annoying the items might be more fresh.

Delightful first time tapas experience. Friendly service. There's a young woman there who can sell ice cubes Eskimos.

THIS was what we’d been hoping to find on our tapas crawls. A beautiful counter display of tasty bites plus a steady stream of hot ones offered as they come out of the kitchen. Done? They just count up the toothpicks and multiply by 2 euro and change. A real gem!

This is a busy spot but for a good reason! The food variety and taste is awesome and the staff are super sweet and helpful! Drinks are expensive with 10 euros price tag for non alcoholic drink but otherwise, awesome!

Pretty nice tapas bar with a selection of tapas you pick from the bar. You pick whatever you'd like and they count the amount of toothpicks (dishes) you ate at the end. Nothing amazing stood out here but it was a fun experience.

This was the third time coming here and it was as good as 4 years ago! You take as much pinxtos as you like and pay for your amount of skewers afterwards. I recommend really taking your time because from time to time hot pinxtos arrive and these are the best! For example croquetas, butifara (spanish sausage), goat cheese,... If I would make 1 change it would definitely be more bar stools, it can get a bit uncomfortable after a whole day of walking around in the city.

The steak was like something we've never tasted before. The potatoes and calamari were also delicious. Our server was very sweet and funny. Highly recommend for something on the pricier side.

Excellent experience! You can grab whatever you want to eat and new tapas keep coming out from the kitchen!

Great find. For tourists, the offer is simple. Find a space, grab a plate and help yourself. They charge you based on the number of toothpicks left on your plate. Servers are friendly and knowledgeable. Try to speak at least a little Spanish or Catalan and they will appreciate, but everyone spoke English. You could stay a while but the idea is to pop in, grab a bite, and leave. The turnover of people is incredible. This reflects in the food as it’s very fresh. Doesn’t sit around for long.

We reserved a table in the restaurant (not the small bites). Cool vibe and great food, with the best dessert we had in town (chocolate and fried bread).

A brilliant concept of choosing your Tapas at the bar and a friendly efficient staff make this place a very good option in the old city. Interesting wines from basque area.

Every dish was the most incredible thing I’ve ever eaten. Definitely order the duck. The monkfish was insanely good, as was the sourdough bread and the leeks. The service was superb as well. Excellent selection of wines. Can’t wait to return to this exceptional restaurant.
