We ordered two tapas dishes to share amongst 4 of us (tomato bread and calamari) and then we each ordered a main dish. The angry octopus (2), oxtail and duck cannelloni. Tapas are anticipated to be small plates, but the main portions could have been slightly bigger. The meal was absolutely delicious, as was the sangria. The restaurant creates drama by setting herbs on fire which is instagrammable but it makes the restaurant smell of burnt herbs which does get a bit much. Overall, I would highly recommend this spot, (flavours are outstanding!) but don't come hungry after a day out exploring Barcelona!

The food is not that delicious as we expected. We ordered the steak cooked as medium but it was too dry and hard to chew. When the waiter served the dish, he dropped the lemon on the table and left it there and didn't give us a new peice of lemon. The green pepper and squid is good though.

The portions for the mains were small, but quite tasty - black squid ink rice and octopus on mash. Not great value for money in my opinion, even in for the location. The padron peppers were way too hot for consumption as tapas - we tried at other locations in Portugal and Spain, and all were good. Service from Shan was very good. He was polite and accommodating, in fact he stood out for us as he brought the rating up from a 3.5 to a 4 for us.

Their Hugo cocktail is fantastic and you must try their steak, which comes out with a bush of rosemary that they light on fire to infuse a smokey flavour into the meat. An exciting experience!

Amazing place, MUST go to when in Barcelona. The staff are friendly and helpful, the owner is a really passionate and nice guy. We tried a couple of their dishes and they were all delicious. We started with a Vermouth and White Wine Sangria, and it was so refreshing and good. Could easily drink a couple glasses. Then we tried the Cheese Platter and Andalusia-style Calamari for tapas. The cheeses were amazing, especially the goat cheese, it paired well with the strawberry jam. After that we had the Pork Cheek and Octopus with Truffled Potatoes. The pork was fall off the bone and scrumptious, the octopus was cooked perfectly and the potatoes were a great accompaniment. We finished it off with the Chocolate Ice-cream with bread and olive oil, and the Crema Catalana. So so delicious, though the chocolate can be intense. All in all, great location that you must visit! Check the times as they are only open a few hours a day.

Visited Lokal Bar as the first dinner spot in Barcelona. Sat outside in the sun and ordered a few tapas, all which were absolutely delicious. The ambience of the restaurant inside was very unique with old instruments hung up on the walls, which the staff enthusiastically explained to me when I asked about them. Highly recommend the squid ink risotto. The service was also available in English, and the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. They even gave us a shot of limoncello afterwards. We just finished a week long trip to Barcelona and had some incredible meals and experiences, but I believe Lokal Bar was my favorite of all. We made reservations for an early dinner around 7 pm. The servers were so kind and gracious and welcomed us immediately. Shan was our primary server and did a great job explaining the menu, making wine recommendations, and checking in on us throughout the night. We started with some beautiful appetizers - a cheese platter, Spanish olives, potatoes bravas, calamari, and I couldn’t resist trying an anchovy. These were all delicious. The cheese plate was especially inspired with a nice range of hard and soft cheeses with mild to intense flavors. My wife was thrilled. They have a nice drink and wine selection, and I had a beautiful red wine. I saw some very tasty looking drinks prepared at the bar, too. For our main courses, my wife had the Black Rice with Seafood, which had a rich, buttery consistency and succulent chunks of calamari buried throughout. On Shan’s recommendation, I had the Aged Beef Tagliata which was presented with fiery fanfare! It was such a fun experience. The ambiance was complete with smooth jazz music piped in from the speakers which was replaced later by live piano music. At the end of the night, they brought us colorful digestifs - even one for my little girl, who was so delighted to “cheers” her Mommy! I cannot remember a dining experience that was more fun, or where I felt more looked after. The servers go well out of their way to create an incredible evening. I give my absolute highest recommendation!

Since this will potentially affect someone’s business I will try and be direct and thorough to cover all points in hopes they can fix their mistakes. FOOD Taste/texture The black rice was excellent. Great texture, generous amount of seafood and good portion. The boquerones were the worst I have had in Barcelona. The flavor pallet was way off since they added capers, olive oil on top of the vinegar. The potatoes puré had a sour taste and I was questioning if the chef/cook saved it for too long. The octopus was very rubbery. The meat was not salted and bland. The tuna was ok. The deserts were good. Presentation The presentation was the best part. You can view my photos and the plates look pretty good! SERVICE The service was terrible. We waited forever. They never cleared our plates. The worst part was they were very rude at the end and asked us to leave after the check was paid because they were closing. As we were walking out there were still two other tables eating! We visited this gem two times during our trip. We came back because we were impressed by the food, and it did not disappoint the second time either. We had main courses first time around, with burger and meat dish. It was awesome. Next time around we had salmon and a few tapas. Very very impressed by the tapas. I loved the full bodied house wine, with a reasonable price. The margarita was also good. I also want to mention the service which was excellent both times. Very friendly and attentative staff/owner. We usually never visit a place twice during our trips, but this was a good exception.

Food was delicious and quality was high. Beer was ok. Portions are small and prices are really high for Barcelona. I am giving 4 stars for prices and portions, 5 stars for quality of the ingredients and taste of the food. I found draft beer quality low for a bar.

Had splendid evening with my family at LOKAL BAR. It's a hidden gem outside of touristic centre of Barcelona. The food is outstanding, best tapas we had. There are also quite few options for vegetarians. Their service is on pro level. If Shan is waitressing your table then you're in good hands.
