Buy tickets in advance to avoid a long line to buy a ticket. It’s a nice but small museum. I wish I had known about the free admission days earlier to book one of those tickets. The website says you can book free admission 4 days ahead.

Make sure to buy tickets in advance and to book a slot! If you’re going during the touristy season like I did, you could wait up to 30 minutes in line to get in but it is absolutely worth the try. It costs around 17€ for an all inclusive ticket plus 90 minutes audio guide. Alternatively, you can book a guided tour. There’s plenty to see, beautiful building, and a big gift store that has anything you need from a museum gift store. All in all, definitely a recommended activity if you’re into art.

It was alright. You see a lot of artwork and more information about the artist himself. Admission is 15 euros but you can save one euro if you buy online. It was a good size museum and quite a bit of tourists. I recommend going if you are truly interested. We decided to go spontaneously.

Far more than you expect in this museum, you see Picasso’s journey from young artist to profound one. Plenty of material to read and plenty of pieces to look at. We spent a good 2 hours here. The best feature of this museum was the way it displayed the countless practice pieces or different versions of Picasso’s work, so you could see the development of a piece and the process behind it. Really enjoyed it. Book before

While you may think all of the good Picasso’s are elsewhere in more well known museums, the Picasso Museum in Barcelona is still well worth a stop on your stay. The museum is curated very well and contains a breadth of work that catalogues his early life and evolution in a way that I left knowing more about the artist and the art. A wonderful collection, and beautiful museum.

An elegant art museum not to be missed upon visiting Barcelona. Located in Lower El Born district, north of Basilica Santa Maria del Mar. I was lucky to catch the last Picasso exhibit for the weekend considering it was closed Monday. It was the ultimate highlight of my trip! Truly mesmerizing artwork.

I found this museum fascinating and in formative. I always think of Picasso as well, Picasso! I knew he was a classically trained painter, but WOW! I had no concept of how advanced he was at such an incredibly young age. We purchased “front of the line” tickets in advance and walked right in. We visited on a Friday morning and while the galleries had people in them, none of them were over crowded. It was the perfect visit!

I can feel my heartbeats when approaching the entrance of El Museo de Picasso. I felt his life and got inspiration here. Also, I took cute and lovely pics here because of you. I talked to two of them, both are kind and charismatic ladies. But not taking every one of you. Sorry not to inform you in advance. Feel free to message me if you don’t like to be posted.

A very well curated museum. The walking path could be a little clearer, but the art was excellent and well spaced out. I thought the information on the walls was the best of any museum I’ve been too. Engaging, a good amount of content, details that are interesting and helpful. Buy your tickets online in advance! It was decently crowded on a Saturday at 10:30 am in February so I’m sure it’s crazy in the summer months.

The lady at the ticket counter was the nicest person we encountered in our trip to Barcelona. She made sure we all get a discount where possible and was very helpful and friendly. The museum itself is well organized and obviously contains beautiful art by Picasso. If you're in the area, I highly recommend this museum.

Pros - a lot of Picasso art - very well structured so you can understand the evolution of Picasso’s art - you can feel an artsy vibe everywhere and you will find out how much Picasso meant for art in general Cons - the staff very unfriendly and irritated Conclusion This is a must to visit place if you are in Barcelona, first of all you should allocate yourself at least 2 hours so you can fully understand and admire each painting. Secondly, a guide or audio guide it’s a must so you can understand better what was the meaning behind the paintings. Also, be careful with the time slot you reserved as the staff it’s very strictly with the hours you booked.

A gem in the heart of Barcelona, the Picasso museum is one place not to be missed. There’s a record of Picasso‘s relationship with a very famous photographer who cataloged his life. It’s fascinating to see not only the paintings but the artist as well. While not as extensive as collections in Paris or Madrid, the collection is none the less a real delight and shows the artist’s evolution from a great painter as a youth of classic paintings to the esoteric work of the later years. Housed in a beautiful building it’s a delight to visit and well worth it.

Beautiful museum full of Picasso’s paintings and masterpieces. My favorite hall was the one with the Meninas. I strongly recommend to buy the tickets online to avoid the big queue. There are restrooms, a nice shop on the ground floor and it is wheels accessible.

We managed to get free tickets for the Thursday evening viewing. It costs 12 euros per person. You can easily view this museum in 45 mins as it is rather small. Nice pieces of artwork of Picasso

I really loved this museum. It is in chronological order and by year. I admired the work and progression of Picasso and this museum really puts it all together in a way that is sophisticated and elegant. A vast array of his artwork is displayed here and I would really recommend a visit to this museum if you’re in Barcelona but I’d recommend buying tickets in advance, it is a must. It’s located in the gothic quarter of Barcelona.

There was so much of Picasso's work in this museum I had never heard of or seen or even associated with his style. We learned so much about him from this visit. The building itself was the star of the show, so beautifully made. There weren't any iconic works by Picasso, so if you're not an art history person, you probably wouldn't recognize any of the art. At least I didn't, which was surprising. Be sure to buy tickets in advance online to get the time you'd like to visit!

Nice museum full of Picasso's paintings and drawings throughout whole his life. Don't expect to see his most famous pieces, they are in world's most prestigious galleries or private collections. Anyway it's worth visit. You can see also his ceramic and jewelery art works. There is also a good description about different eras of his life so visitors can understand better what he was actually focusing on when making his art.

Worth a visit. It mostly covers his early life, and not much of his later works are presented. Mainly what his family collected as he was growing up and some of his relatives works. It shows he was a prolific artist and these works provided a great foundation of his later works.

Kinda crowded/touristy and very small (only ~15 rooms). Museum covers Picasso's early life, some of his family, the blue/rose periods, and his early cubism period. But it doesn't include any rooms dedicated to his work after (like synthetic cubism) for some reason, i.e. the work he's actually famous for. It was still a good experience to see his early work but it's definitely small and incomplete. Nice experience overall but forgettable.

It is a great museum that has rich contents and exhibits of and about Picasso. I felt I have learnt a lot about Picasso’s work and his life. I also liked those descriptions (in various languages) although fonts were a little too small to read, that helped people understand Picasso’s works better.

The museum and its exhibition is great, although I wouldn't recommend going to the directions the staff is pointing to. Mostly it's fine, but half way through we were directed to the end of the exhibition (Picasso's ceramics) and had to search for a room to continue our tour. So follow the numbers of the rooms in order, that way it will be chronologically correct. Some of the paintings and drawings could be illuminated more. I also recommend the audio guide, Picasso's works are well explained with additional pictures shown on the screen. If you take your time, plan to spend 2-3 hours there. 4/5 because of the small details which could be improved, otherwise a must see, even if you are not a big fan of the art. His life work and development is impressive and worth to see.

Amazed by Picasso’s talent and the changing style of him among the years. From 1897 when his presence started to be noticed because of ‘science and charity’ in lines of social realism, to 1901 the harsh, warm and intense brushstroke; to 1901-1904 the intense blue period (I got emotionally attached seeing those paintings — made me feel sad); to 1906 the solid, monumental Cubism period — as said he was somewhat spurred by the sculptures in Louvre Museum… more to be experienced and can’t mention it all. It was overall an extraordinary experience. Highly recommend buying tickets in advance, it’s easy and helps get in smoothly.

Picasso was a great artist. loved women, liked to have fun, was not suitable for politicians. However, the museum reveals a somewhat depressed side. As if his paintings existed separately from the person. where in Picasso's environment? in the furniture? At the exhibition? The S. Dali Museum, which was created by the artist himself, is quite different - paradoxical, with humor and secrets.

Picassos art of course is very amazing and great to watch. Unfortunatley the Staff was very hectic and unfriendly. It felt like a Prison simulation and Museum at once due to the Covid-19 rules. Of course everybody should be carefull but they totally overreacted in everyway. We really felt like prisoners its not possible to walk freely, you get told to where you can walk. Very "unchilled" atmossphere. Picasso himself would not like his own Museum I am pretty sure about that (!)

A truly AMAZING museum. As you walk through, the art in each section is in chronological order of Picasso’s life and divided by his different styles with explanations of how his life circumstances are reflected in the art. Masterfully organized. One of my favorite museums ever.

Lot to see! Lot to read about an amazing artist! But it is not all. The inside of the building is beautiful, some rooms are even more attractive than the art. The museum contain lots of realistic portraits, and few amazing works of cubism! Definitely worth seeing. But you need to be ready to spend there more than an hour to understand magnificent of this works. If you will analyze painting one by one you will see a real story from Picasso life.

I definitely recommend the museum. Though you won’t see any of Picasso highly promoted works (for those you have to go to Paris or New York) you will get to know a lot about his early life and work, which is closely connected to Barcelona :) For better understanding buy the ticket with audioguide. I think, otherwise it could be a little bit disappointing.. If you want to safe some time, you can avoide the line by buying tickets online. Wish you a nice visit :)

If you are in Barcelona you cannot miss a visit to the Picasso museum. A collection of works on the painter's early life. The route, it is advisable to rent a guide, does not present his famous works, but all those that marked his youth and some variations such as the decorations of furniture objects. Not a simple exhibition museum but a journey through life more than in Picasso's works.

Greatest disappointment of my life!! Love Picasso but this is more a museum of his history and features his exploratory works, his trials and test pieces/sketches. Many small in scale and clearly rough drafts. Nothing here that ever made it into the great books of his works. He was a prolific artist and some pieces fall into the category of ‘naive’, child like 5 minute art and this ‘exhibition’ features mostly these. I left thinking less of him as an artist than when I walked in. Layout was very confusing. The audio I abandoned two paintings in. Wondered why it was relatively cheap’ at 12€ and now I know why.

Think what you may of Picasso, but he was a great, recognizable artist. As an artist, the exhibition inspired me and opened up new facets. Definitely a must when in Barcelona. The museum is beautiful and buying tickets is easy. The price was also completely ok. Of course it would be nicer if more of the artist's works were hanging there!

Buy your tickets days in advance! If you are an art nerd, double any projected times for attractions. You can tell how much Picasso loved Barcelona. He donated over 900 early works to the city and his assistance donated more posthumously. Make the time to see this beautiful mansion turned museum.

First of all, I'm not a MASSIVE fan of art. I can however, appreciate it. This particular exhibition was perfect for me as its pretty much all on one floor. The majority of the works are from his formative years but you can see his art evolving which I found interesting. The descriptions are short and sweet but there's an option for an audio tour which I declined. The gift shop was great and breaking from the norm I actually purchased a couple of items. One final point is the building itself, it's beautiful and even though there's some modern additions they don't spoil it.

A must, this was an experience unlike any other. My friend who I was with is not much of a "museum person" but was in awe the whole entire time. You really get to experience the growth of Picasso as an artist and see how his art evolved and formed into what we all know today. It was truly inspiring and something I hope to see again.

The collection they have is quite big, and we enjoyed it very much. However, they didn't upload their entire tour to the app yet, which means you miss out on big parts of the tour (and you hear a lot of "you can see on your screen" when there is nothing). This was sometimes very annoying, such as while looking at the "Las Meninas" exhibition without the reference to the original (which we googled, among other things). In addition, from some reason the staff at the museum, while polite, sometimes cause an uncomfortable feeling. They also speak among themselves very loudly sometimes. While we understand completely the need to monitor the exhibition and visitors, the atmosphere in the museum is not very inviting and comfortable in our opinion. Still, recommended while in Barcelona.

I was really looking forward to see this place, and it did not disappoint! The museum is so well organized. There is a lot to see! Each room has written info in English so you can understand Picasso’s life trajectory, even if you don’t know much about him. Even my kids enjoyed the visit.

(Translated by Google) It is worth taking advantage of these times to discover the museums of the city that usually fill tourists. We also took advantage of the free admission offered by many local museums on the first Sundays of the month, and we thoroughly enjoyed both the permanent collection and the temporary exhibition, which dealt with Picasso's notebooks. Surprising! (Original) Merece la pena aprovechar estos tiempos para descubrir los museos de la ciudad que normalmente llenan los turistas. You cannot top Barcelona when it comes to Picasso works. There was so much more to his story than I was familiar with. I had no history of his childhood and early education. Seeing the changed focus over different ages and different life stages was fascinating. It was apparent there was an excess of passion in multiple areas. We were fortunate to visit without the usual heavy tourist traffic. It was a day of alternating emotions and reactions to the body of work.

Interesting glimpse into both his formative years as well as some later ones. I enjoyed the two "studies" the artist did resulting in several paintings of the same subjects with variations. He donated all to the museum. A little confusing following a pretty linear route that doesn't necessarily match the audio program some displays list a corresponding number in your audio guide which is informative. Tip: you download the audio program to your phone via QR code and they give you earphones. For iPhones you can rent a converter to the old style headphone jack. For android without a jack bring your own Bluetooth ear buds. No food or drinks but there some benches and a nice shop.

What an excellent museum! €12 entry and worth every penny! Wonderful curation of some of Picasso’s great work and great information alongside it. On entry there is a jewellery exhibition - showcasing clay and metal works from Picasso’s later years. Beautifully presented and an insight to Picasso I was not previously familiar with! Then it brings you through to the Jaamis exhibition, a previously lost piece of surrealist sculpture only found in recent years! It then brings you through nearly 10 rooms of artworks from throughout Picasso’s life. So well curated and wonderful pieces on display! I would highly recommend and will return myself. The gift shop is also a beautiful shop- not just filled with tack, but lots of great pieces to purchase (art books, books, ceramics, prints etc)

I thought this place was only...meeh. just okay. I thought there would be more in regard to his evolution from classical art into cubism. But there really wasn't anything about that. It's nice to see his early works. But with a museum baring the Picasso name. I expected more.

This is a beautifully laid out display of some of Picasso's works. There is plenty of space to get around to see everything and staff are very helpful. If you have a backpack or large bag you can store this in one of the free lockers. The shop at the end is a bit expensive but that's to be expected as it's attached to the museum.

This museum is a little tucked away in the Gothic Quarter. Very reasonable entrance for seniors, €7.50 got you into the main exhibit and 2 interesting temporary exhibits. Given their value could not believe how close could get to artworks. There are basically 2 galleries devoted to Picasso, but several other prominent cubists etc represented elsewhere.

The Picasso's paintings and works are definitely worth going and seeing. Even if you aren't an art lover you will appreciate the work for sure. The museum itself is very well maintained and the staff are friendly. Tickets are cheap for students and you can spend hours looking at the paintings. The other ones from Carmen Calvo aren't much fun to see as they appear mediocre. But the price of the ticket is for both the artists. Definitely worth going for Picasso's work though!!

This museum houses multiple sketches and paintings by Pablo Picasso. There were also a few sculptures. Most of them were owned by Picasso’s good friend whom he visited in Barcelona. Though there were abundant paintings, I’ve seen more compelling Picassos elsewhere.

I expected more. The museum is for sure in a great condition and shows Picasso’s earlier work and some of his masterpieces. But in comparison to exhibitions in Paris and Madrid, the collection was quite disappointing. Even a temporary exhibition in Düsseldorf had a bigger collection of famous Picasso’s paintings. But it is a perfect introduction for a people who are not familiar with this artist. TICKETS-reduced price + temporary exhibition - 7.50€. Visited on Tuesday in July. It is better to book tickets online, otherwise you can experience the situation when you come at 14:30 and the next entrance time slot is possible only at 17:30.

I only give 4 stars because of the works of such an extraordinary artist such as Picasso and the building is a gorgeous palace. The temporary exhibition at this time is fascinating too. Very interesting place, taking you through a history of Picasso work; if you like me are only familiar with the cubist stuff, then this should be really interesting as it covers so many periods/ phases and shows what a very skilled artist he was. The Museo Picasso de Barcelona provides a fascinating glimpse into Picasso's artistic journey. The collection offers a rich understanding of his creative evolution, though it could benefit from including some of his more recent works. Nonetheless, it remains an essential stop for art aficionados, offering a profound appreciation of Picasso's early masterpieces and his lasting impact on the art world.

Visited in October 2023. There is a permanent Picasso exhibition and a temporary Miro exhibition, the number of the exhibits is huge. I bought the tickets online, so I didn't have to wait to enter. An audio guide is available in different languages, I've checked English and French. Some staff spoke fluent English or French, others demanded only Spanish. In the halls there were tables with books and newspapers in Spanish dedicated to the exhibitions in free access, it was nice to take a break sitting and looking through the photos of the paintings. There's a gift shop with a big choice of souvenirs.

I make a point of visiting this museum during each of my visits to Barcelona. It's a lovely collection that really shows visitors the evolution of Picasso's style from a young master of realist paintings to the surreal deconstructive worked that he became known for. The building itself is also a pleasure to walk through and the gift shop has a great selection of prints and books on his work.

A conjunction of works that make us understand Picasso, his origins, his evolution ... the treatment by the management personnel of the entrance queue was not pleasant, even aggressive, when we tried to better understand the covid rules that allowed us to enter in the same group with strangers but not with people we already knew previously, because then there was a greater risk that we would talk to each other. It is always easier to explain that you should not speak in the museum by covid rules and that this is controlled by the room guards than not to assume that we are not going to comply with the rules and treat ourselves like criminals. If you buy tickets online, nobody knows if you know yourself or not, but if they detect it at the door, you won't be able to enter together. We are living in a very unpleasant time that we wish no one else had to experience. Ticket staff and inside museum very nice. (Original) El museu y su contenido fantástico. Vivimos un momento muy desagradable que deseamos que no tenga que vivir nadie más. El personal de venta de entradas y el de dentro del museo muy agradable.

You can enjoy the exhibition but don't expect for his most famous paintings and work to be here. Still, very beautiful exhibition.

We recommend it! As a curiosity it gathers all 44 paintings of one of Picasso’s master pieces that it is his interpretation about “Las Meninas” from Velazquez. It’s a must when it comes to Barcelona visiting and art.

Enjoyed the works on display and the information about his life provided throughout the museum. The gift shop is also very well stocked, and has something for everyone. The layout of the museum itself was a bit confusing however. I'm not sure if things needed to be changed in order to reopen post-pandemic (and then possibly this was the result?), but if you need multiple staff members standing at each doorway to direct people on which way to go next, then maybe some signs (other than small tape arrows on the floor) would be helpful.

The museum was a great experience, the best one yet in Barcelona. It articulates Picasso's life’s journey in an informative and captivating way. 'Las Meninas' collection was so beautiful.

Biggest Picasso museum ever visited. Compared with the one in Malaga and Antibes.

Nice museum with many Picasso’s early drawings. It’s a nice to visit but for me, Moco Museum next door was more interesting. I enjoyed it much more. P.S: The guy was really addicted with his sister!

I love Picasso and I’ve known a lot about him before visiting this museum. I was not 100% impressed but getting to look at his early sketches, his evolvement into cubism, pictures and jewelry he made, really made up for what I was expecting. This is a unique museum, dedicated to one of the founders of cubism and it’s definitely worth a visit. The man is a genius! Don’t forget to book your ticket online before going, so you can skip waiting in line and also to get immediately in the exhibition without booking a ticket on the spot there and waiting for an hour to get in.

Its definitely cool if you have a man crush on Picasso. If you’re just a casual art enthusiast, don’t make this your priority, but do go if you have extra time.

In addition to paintings, there are a variety of Picasso's creations such as jewelry and pottery, which are relatively rare exhibits. A very good museum, highly recommended !

Really well curated museum in a beautiful space. The work is mostly Picasso’s early work, but it gives you a great background into his life leading up to some of his great works, and a lot of insight into his mind as an artist. Make sure to buy tickets online in advance, they started turning people away around 4pm on a Thursday!

It’s Picasso so I can’t really give it less than 4 ⭐️and it was great getting an insight into his life and evolution but it was also a white box kind of museum and not really an experience that you crave now… maybe that’s actually a good thing, I don’t know? But definitely worth a visit

Would recommend you getting tickets online ahead of time. Museum was larger than I had imagined and it was awesome how it included panels about different periods of Picasso’s life in Spanish, Catalan, and English. Gift shop is also awesome :)

What a great museum in a great part of Barcelona. The emphasis of this collection is on the early part of Picasso's career - when he lived in Barcelona. There are special exhibits, in addition to the great understanding that you get about this artist's early life. The special exhibit space is so tastefully curated to amplify and resonate with the museum's focus.

I am not an aesthete, but by miracle I had visited the Picasso museum, even though it has entry ticket (7 Euros). But it's a great worth of visit, it has the fascinating collection of several paintings of piccaso and as well a souvenir shop. Note: To claim free entry on selected days, you should be booking the tickets in advance.

Lovely to see the up close photos of Picasso and aspects of his character. Good experience worth it for anyone that admires his art. If you are a student you can get a discounted entry as well.

The Picasso museum has an extensive collection of works spanning over many decades from his youth to old age. The collection does an excellent job in demonstrating his artistic progression all the way through and illustrates how his later abstract works relates to his early figurative works. This is the most impressive Picasso collection I have ever seen and well worth a visit.

Would not suggest visiting if you have older people with you that cannot stand for long periods of time. They need about 50 more benches spread through out the rooms, it was hard to enjoy the artwork especially if you purchase the audio guide. Plan to be on your feet for at least and hour if not more. Pretty over hyped for the actual works that a present in the museum, but great price point for what it offers. The website is a bit finicky but there is a QR code at the entrance of the museum with a working site, and I saw people purchasing tickets the day of their visit as well. Credit Cards are accepted.

The museum itself is great, had no wait in line to get in and it was easy to get tickets. We bought them online and had a discount. Inside the museum tho the experience was not the best, since there were too many group tours happening at the same time, group tours each with around 30 people. This made impossible to visit some rooms, since they occupied most of the rooms and it was impossible to see the paintings due to having way too many people in front of us. Even if we changed rooms would be hard, because there would be a tour in every other room.

I am not a big enthusiast of art, but if something is beautiful i apreciate it and i enjoy it. Overall is a good museum, some of his paintings were exceptional. I am not giving a 5 star because of the museum it self and it could be better. The price is good i paid 7,5 euro and i think is a fair price.

Being an Art lover, I have always wanted to see the works from Pablo Picasso in person. The museum was really neat and well maintained with quite a large collection segmented thematically. We visited in February, 4th this year. the experience was really great.

600 pictures Picasso has donated to the city of Barcelona. Many of them are from his early "realistic" period, but few cray cray expressionstic pictures were there too. I would recommend to every art lover. They have free access on Thursdays after 17.00, but you need to book the ticket in advance.

Good museum that displays a large donated collection of Picasso works ranging from his early days to his final works. The museum also houses a section dedicated to ceramics created by Picasso, as well as smaller galleries highlighting other artists. The gift shop here is quite fun and has unique merchandise.

This is a must see not very expensive to enter, I kept thinking of a friend of mine work and afterwards emailed him to discover he knew miro and they did an exhibition in the 1950. The building has so much character and charm which lends itself to the art works perfectly. If I was to offer one critique and that the gift shop was a little on the pricey side, but all in all an interesting experience

Amazing museum! Collection of paintings, ceramics and sculptures of an outstanding artist Pablo Picasso. Featuring all periods of his life and art, from classicism to avant garde e cubism. Located in a beautiful palace, maintained well. Super visitor oriented.

incredible museum!! we went for the miro-picasso exhibition and it was great! often i find exhibitions to be a bit short but this was rooms upon rooms of great works. friendly for english speakers as picture captions were in about 4 languages. the permanent collection was great too. also the building the exhibition was situated in was stunning. great shop too, could’ve spent hundreds in there. highly recommend.

The Picasso Museum fantastically tells the story of Picasso's life through his art. There is an amazing range of pieces throughout the museum and plenty to see. I struggled with the website, so ended up buying tickets there instead of in advance, which worked fine (was on a Saturday). You cannot buy in ADVANCE at the museum, only online. The only faults with the museum itself is that it is a bit difficult to get around, and not signposted. I am unsure if I covered everywhere as it is full of doors and I couldn't find a map. We struggled a bit with the guided tour (was describing another painting instead of the one the number was allocated to) but it worked later on. I loved the reasonably priced giftshop. Thank you for a wonderful visit!

Nice place if you are into art. It has Picasso’s work from early days here in Barcelona that was more traditional work to his later evolution to modern art. I personally liked his original work but understanding the transformation was interesting

If you like art then you must go. Not only is Picasso iconic and revolutionary at his time, the building the museum is in is historic itself, being in the Gothic Quarters of Barcelona. There is also this great random room you can walk through that reminds me of something grand from a lost time. Maybe it was for tea? Too small for a ballroom, but still very interesting. When I went some of Picasso's work was being shown with Miro for a temporary exhibit. Miro, a revolutionary in his own right, sometimes falling in the realm of surrealism. Museum has audio guides you can listen to as you tour the exhibits that give insight into where the artist was in his mind at the time of the piece you are viewing.
