Small museum, I didn't really enjoy the artwork that much, but if you're a fan of Tapies then I would go. The building is nice, but I don't think it would be worth it.

This is a beautiful museum highlighting the work of Antoni Tàpies. The museum is not large so expect to spend a good hour on the visit. The museum has a modernist style and is a contrast to the white square concrete buildings that is so typical of museums today. The museum has a little shop where you can find gifts related to the art on display.

Fundacio Antoni Tapes is a truly unique building located 50 metres away from Casa Batllo. I would recommend visiting it but just from the outside. I haven't seen anything like it.

I was here for an event within the foundation multiple times, so I can only speak to what I saw in passing to the conference room at the back. The space within is interesting and inspiring. The content, while at first seems ñ bland and uninteresting,is quite interesting when you get the story behind the works.

The building was designed by the modernist architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner and was built between 1881 and 1885. Before it had been the headquarters of the publishing house Montaner i Simón. I didn’t know about this artist. When we think about Barcellona and Spain a lot of other artists comes to mind, but he is now for sure one of my favourite. Absolutely recommended, it is a beautiful building and a great art space. Love it

Beautiful place. Superb library (by appointment only). A bit weak on the support for those who do not understand Catalan (or Spanish). Anyway it is worth a visit.

The Fundació Antoni Tàpies is a cultural center and museum, located in Carrer d'Aragó, in Barcelona, Catalonia. It is dedicated mainly to the life and works of the painter Antoni Tàpies. The Fundació was created in 1984 by the artist Antoni Tàpies to promote the study and knowledge of modern and contemporary art. It combines the organisation of temporary exhibitions, symposia, lectures and film seasons with a range of publications to go with the activities and periodic shows of Tàpies' work. The Fundació owns one of the most complete collections of Tàpies' work, mostly made up of donations by Antoni and Teresa Tàpies.

Good place to visit if you're into modem art. Even if you don't like much abstract art, it's a great place to understand a bit of the Franc's period in Spain.

This looks great in person. While we didn’t go into museum we did go into “hardware” store across the street to get Fantastic Views of this building and the back of casa bitilo. Recommend that vantage point.

A gallery over three floors, we visited using our Barcelona Card . It took about an hour and a half. I enjoyed it. Lots of exploration of materials..

If you are not an admirer of Tapies then there is not much to see. Few his pieces. Not much of the building can be seen as it is covered by plaster board.

In a way I expected more. More artworks. It's ok, but not as exciting and interesting as other galleries in Barcelona

  • 2/5 Mauricio A. 6 months ago on Google
It’s hard to explain why the Tapies Foundation displays some of the most mediocre pieces by its namesake. Not worth the 8€ entry. If you want to see Tapies’ best work just browse the lithographs for sale in the museum store for free. The building while fantastic is a total waste of space and contains the most expensive real estate ever used as a coat rack in Europe. Avoid .

Loves Tapies' work with which I was very little familiar. Certainly worth the visit if you like that kind of art.

  • 3/5 Kerstin v. 2 years ago on Google
I was a little disappointed by the presented artwork. Tapies is one of my favorite artists but there weren't as many of his pieces on display as I expected.

€8 entrance fee. Impressive building but only for the ones who really enjoy his art.

  • 2/5 Ela J. 2 years ago on Google
Not worth the entrance fee, there is not much to see, the building is nice and the staff is polite.

Good museum, but the artist is less interesting than the temporary exhibition.

  • 2/5 Dimitra 4 years ago on Google
It's a nice exhibition if you are familiar with the artist and you like his work. Otherwise I wouldn't recommend it.

  • 2/5 Mike J. 1 year ago on Google
I may be an uncultured troglodyte and simply didn't see the exhibits how they were supposed to be seen. I definitely don't feel smart for paying €8 to stare at paintings of crosses and broken chairs glued to the wall. There was an experimental film on the 2nd floor which I felt slightly immersed by, but on the whole the exhibition is small, in my opinion overpriced for what it is and, unless you feel a strong connection to Tapies, simply not worth the money. There are exhibitions at other museums which offer greater immersion/variety and are free to enter.

    Very beautiful building!

  • 2/5 Martina V. 2 years ago on Google
It's an art about consumerism. So logically there is nothing much to see. Right? It is a nice building. It took only 30 minutes to walk through. I think the most time took the stairs though. If you aren't in love with work of Tapies wouldn't recommend coming here. I feel a bit offended by his work.. was it his aim? :D In the first floor you can check out male's obsession with fountain bidets.

It was incredibly boring, it was pretty much only pictures of the artist and papers about his works. At least they had a toilet.

(Translated by Google) The museum is fine, we found the part of the plays to be the most interesting. But without a doubt the best part of the visit were the explanations about the author and the works by Mónica (museum staff). He was very friendly and explained all the works in a very didactic way. He was super friendly and interesting.
