***As you can see from the response of the owner, the hostel does not care about the following issues. *** Do not support this business. I stayed at this hostel for two nights in September. The quality and assistance here was so low. The rooms are very crammed, minimal and the bathrooms basic and small. I asked for a blanket twice and did not get one. I was cold even after turning down the AC. Only had a sheet on my bed. Yet it was expensive! The hostel didn't meet the basic needs of free drinking water, blankets, cleanliness and a lounge space. At least keep the indoor lounge open at night. Staff unable to help. Someone got trapped in the elevator and was banging on the door to get out. I sent an email to them about this, no response. Hopefully they make improvements. No kitchen. No lounge or terrace after midnight. No indoor space to sit other than your bed after midnight. No free drinking water. No blanket at all. Dirty. Nice but unhelpful staff. Broken elevator.

First negative review I’ve ever written but need to put it here so hopefully something will change. Overpriced for what you get. Room lockers were broken. I know covid has meant staff shortages but only one person on reception meant an hour wait to check in. Shower is tiiiiny. Breakfast (which is €6) is just not very good Staff seem indifferent to customers and just unfriendly. The lifts seemed generally unsafe and take forever. They weren’t serving cocktails because it wasn’t summer? There’s no kitchen (I’ve never been to a hostel without a kitchen so this just seems like a money scam to get you to buy their food) Can’t have your own alcohol there. It is reeeally loud at night. Save your money and go somewhere else.

great location. sadly the management is extremely rude and tries to nickel and dime everything, especially the morning front desk guy. had me move out of my previous room because it was booked, but then the evening guy simply had me back in the same room and I had to pay for luggage storage on top of missing my train. he also didn't refund any differences between online reservation and newly made one, but simply extends the previous higher price and just ignores you when you ask for refund of the difference. had to settle separately with the credit card company. the other issue is no kitchen for a hostel and can't put anything in a fridge. very inconvenient.

The location of the property is the silver lining of this hostel, it’s a bit touristy and hectic but is very central. However the atmosphere and the cleanliness of the place isn’t very great. Not to mention the hostel will charge you a fee at every corner, whether it’s for towels, breakfast, luggage storage, or if you leave any later than 11. At the end of the day a hotel will be just as worth it if they offered any of those services for free. I wouldn’t recommend staying here for more than one night.

Well, I was hesitant about writing this, but here I am. The staff and location are amazing, but that's unfortunately it. When I got there, I was told I'd have to move around a few times during the week. This was odd as I booked a full week well in advance but I was fine with it. After the 2nd moving of rooms I was told I have to move again, I was getting quite annoyed at this point, but I knew the staff were not the ones to blame. That changed when the room I was supposed to sleep in was the 12 bed ones yet I paid for 4 bed room for sake of the privacy. They switched the room and I ended up in a solo room which was nice and clean. The WiFi worked and the rooms were quite clean. But the lockers were so small that I couldn't put my suitcase and a small backpack inside so I had to keep rearranging stuff all the time. The showers and toilets were dirty and some of them didn't look cleaned in a few hours which at a place like this is a must. There was a broken shower curtain bar for several days, so good luck taking a shower. Finally, the city tax was not a surprise and it was already on the invoice when I booked the stay so unless you're going in blind u had to know you'd pay more.

Some aspects were so bad it does not have my recommendation to anyone. Good things are location and that it's pretty, that's about it. It is way too commercial, the common room is basically just a bar: you are not even allowed to bring your own drinks, something I've rarely seen at hostels. Rooftop terrace is really nice but again just another bar, not your own drinks or food allowed. They should also make the rooftop terrace be open for longer. Rooms are pretty trash too, but clean. It's a big hostel, which would be nice if they did things well, but here all intimacy is lost. Just way too focused on money, no real kindness from the people working here either (except for the guy on the rooftop terrace). The people visiting the hostel are nice, but so are people in other hostels. Find a smaller hostel is my tip to you, the location may be nice but the metro is so good in Barcelona you can get everywhere quickly anyway so don't focus on that too much is my tip to you.

A little pricey in my opinion, but a good hostel overall. The rooms and bathrooms were okay, about what you would expect in a hostel. They were decently clean. The building itself was very beautiful, old, and charming… and the building was in a great location of Barcelona, in the city center. The staff were very nice as well and payments are cashless.

Pros: 1. Location is 10/10. Right in the heart of Barcelona and everything is 30-60mins walking distance. 2. Not too crowded. I stayed in a 6 ladies dormitory and we were never a full room. Max 5 minimum 2 people, so that was an advantage to us for a more comfortable stay. 3. Staff are cooperative when asked about anything. Cons: 1. The bathroom is terrible! The shower is very narrow and tight, you’ll need to press a button every 7 seconds cause it’s going to turn off automatically. If you keep the water off for half a minute then turn it on, you’ll be struck with cold water at the start, so you have to press the button every 7 seconds. The shower stall’s bottom gap is wide so when you shower the whole bathroom gets wet and steamy. Even if you keep the fan on it will take hours to dry. The shower level is unadjustable. The water pipes make loud noise to the point you wake up from sleep if someone uses the bathroom. 2. The electricity socket in the bathroom doesn’t work, nor the one near to it. 3. There are no mirrors in the room, except inside the bathroom or at its door. This is not very practical for a ladies room, there is an empty wall and it wouldn’t harm if one more mirror was added.

It's a hostel. That said, I paid for a private room with a private bathroom. My bathroom was NOT CLEAN on my arrival. I guess I expected more? It's like I shared a bathroom after all, regardless of paying for my own. This was after I arrived at my check-in time, and they still made me wait 30 minutes for my room. Overall, a lodging you wouldn't hurt to skip.

location is great, but the room I stayed in has infiltration, the ceiling had dark marks and the walls had mold, I do not recommend it. another case is the unpreparedness of the receptionist, I arrived to check in and I was charged the tourist tax without warning, at least they could have warned me that it would be charged, I simply saw that there was a fee of 3.75 on my card statement, and I questioned it because they were charging, and I asked why they charged separately, I just said that's how it is, and I was disappointed, I just didn't go to another hostel because they didn't refund, if the day before I stayed in the same network of hostels in the Gothic Quarter and there the experience was incredible and they already charged me for everything together, I was disappointed with the service offered and with the sanitary facilities for several rooms, only a toilet and a shower, there really is a lot to improve. another point, at 21:30 at night a gentleman arrived saying that my socket was not working and that he was there to fix it, I found the supposed electrician's hours to be very strange, I told him that everything was working normally. one of the worst experiences in the security field.

Pros: it’s clean (more or less, the shower wasn’t really) and in a good position, the staff is kind of friendly Cons: the price didn’t match at all our stay, the rooms are small and dark, they fit eight people in rooms that should be for two, it’s uncomfortable and the ac works just when they want to. The beds are old and make noises

first of all they had some problems with system and it took me 1h to check in. But I understand, issues happens. The hostel is okay if you are active traveler and just need a place to sleep. They don’t have kitchen. The bedrooms and bathrooms were kinda old and not comfortable. But once again, if you need just a place to sleep - this might be a good option for you, and the location is perfect.

Got in touch with two aggresive yet still helpful male staffs throughout my stay, seemed not to be really welcoming to the guests with minimal smile and even lack of smile given. The female staffs seemed to be more approachable and friendly though. But yeah, it's understandable since they seemed to be overwhelmed with too many tasks at once. The bathrooms weren't also the best, the floors were easily overflowed with water after taking shower with no proper mop and only tissue to clean it. Definitely consider staying here just for the location and not for the services and the rooms, there should be many better alternatives for those. Truly not a satisfying experience staying here.

Location is super convenient, close to everything. Room and bathroom are cleaner than expected. Elevator works but is quite slow. You better off taking the stairs. Common area and kitchen close at 11:30 PM. Staff are all very nice and friendly, but there's one person who stood out to me and that is Alejandro. He works the night shifts and is beyond polite and respectful. He went beyond his duties to help me out in many scenarios and I really appreciate that.

Me and my 5 friends stayed in a 12 bed mixed dorm for 10 days. The sheets were never cleaned which was highly unhygienic, also the beds were very very close together if a covid inspector would have come in the room definitely wouldn’t have been up to the standards. The air conditioning was on at all times although the room was extremely hot so it was broken. There was a nice balcony in the room that I can’t fault. The kitchen and dining area was lovely and the free breakfast included was very good. The rooftop common area was lovely and had an amazing atmosphere and beautiful view. Safestay was definitely saved by it’s amazing and kind helpful reception and kitchen staff and it’s very friendly guests! I would stay again in a different room if it had air conditioning.

Really nice location Next to the metro and next to everything!! We were charged the city tax without being warning from the website But when we arrived there they told us that we have to pay more 70€ ( we were 3 persons ) that was kind of shocking You have to pay for towels The only disadvantage is that rooms were small and really dirty The floor was full of hair and dust The used to clean once a day or less But the problem was that they didn’t clean under the beds and the quality of cleaning was 1/10 The elevator was always busy with the result to use always the stairs for many floors

Perfect location very central to lots of shops and cafes! The rooftop has a beautiful view and nice at sunset. 12 bed dorm was spacious. Overall good stay Cons: The bathroom set up on level 2 is super odd. No lock for the shower or area to get changed. Our room keys constantly kept resetting and wouldn’t work for our room which was annoying to have to get it reset a dozen times. Lucky they have 24hr reception or wed be locked out. Room was air-conned which was good. But would be nice to have some fresh air ventilation. Although advertised, Keep in mind theres no kitchen which is a bit annoying. Would also he nice if they provided free filtered water

The hostel is very expensive considering the below average facilities. Free wifi was advertised but it didn’t work at all, couldn’t load anything. The bunk beds were cheap, they made a lot of noise and didn’t feel very stable. The lockers in the room were in terrible condition which isn’t ideal for trying to lock your belongings away. The bathrooms were never clean, didn’t have basics such as soap and hand towels (of which others staying at the hostel said there hadn’t been any for the duration of their stay either), some of the toilet locks were broken, the showers only had curtains - NO doors or locks. Otherwise, the staff member we interacted with during check in was friendly and the location is good.

Stayed for 2 night. Fantastic location!!! Right beside metro also. Clean bedrooms. Stayed in shared all female dorm with ensuite. Bathrooms a little outdated but perfect for what you need. Reception staff lovely. For the price you would think that a bath towel would be included.

Was only here for 1 night. Stayed in a double room which had a small balcony with views of the street. Room was clean and comfortable, shower was hot. Any staff I encountered were professional and lovely. Location is perfect. Metro station across the road and near tonnes of shops and restaurants. For the price, I couldn't have asked for anything else

No atmosphere, so I didn't have a good time here. Felt very lonely as a solo traveller. also no curtains and very basic rooms. Staff were lovely though, and the common spaces were well kept. Location was perfect.

  • 3/5 Łucja K. 5 months ago on Google
Good location and that’s about it. The beds have no curtains so there’s no way to block the light when you go to sleep and nobody really cares about the quiet hours. Every time I stayed there I got no rest. People waking up at 4 am in the morning, making suitcases, turning the light on, making noise… Rooms were smelly and there was literally one sheet provided so it was quite cold

  • 3/5 Kellie B. 6 months ago on Google
Stay here only if location is most important to you. There are no curtains and the bunk beds are laid out so I was in the center of the room with my body and feet facing everyone in a room of men. It's a party hostel so if you want a chill vibe don't stay here. The bathroom are somewhat clean but there are so many people going in and out that it doesn't remain clean for long. The terrace bar is nice but not worth the annoyingness of the dorm room.

I absolutely love this hostel. It is in a great location, the inside is really beautiful and huge, the rooms are clean and comfortable and the terrace is really nice. Also it's WELL CHEAP. Safestay just seem to continually out do themselves 👏

Location is good but I wouldn't recommend this place to other travellers, unless u really don’t have any luck with other hostels around Barcelona. # Security hardly exist. # beds are cheap and noisy. # Reception doesn’t know the meaning of greeting or friendly welcome. #overall, this place would be my last option in Barcelona.

  • 3/5 Ajeroz 2 years ago on Google
Disgusting toilets and showers. You'll share a total of two toilets and two showers with like at least 50 others, it's very dirty in there, use flip flops. I'll give it at least three stars because of the fun and good friendships I've made there, the ac in the room, the great location and the nice rooftop.

Nice clean spacious room, great location and views. After 11pm, common area is closed and there is no fridge or kitchen to keep drinks and food but there is 24hr supermarket less than 50m away. Will stay again if I come back. Thanks all the friendly staff especially Rodrigo for his kindness!

  • 1/5 Yashaswi S. 4 months ago on Google
Insanely rude staff. 1) They're one of those hostels who want to write ALL of your card details "just in case you damage something" 2) The folks at the reception will throw a tantrum if you remark against any policy, and try to engage in an argument absolutely devoid of logic. Not even worth a visit, definitely not worth staying.

The front desk worker that checked us in was probably the rudest person I’ve ever met in my life we had booked two beds in a four bedroom mix dorm got there and said that we had to stay in separate rooms And there was nothing he could do about it. I was able to talk to a different receptionist, and after about a half an hour of standing there, he was able to find a way that we could stay in the same room. Walls have no soundproofing you hear absolutely everything can’t sleep The shower is horribly small and doesn’t drain properly so water pools in the bottom. Ran out of toilet paper in the bathroom multiple days we left three days early with having paid already and honestly I do not care if I get a refund happy to be out of that place would not recommend anyone wouldn’t let my enemy stay there

Stayed in a room for 2 ish days, the location was great but the actual facility left little to be desired. The bathrooms were very cramped and dark plus looking very old. The sheets were dirty and the rooms were oddly spaced around, i had to go through 4 doors just to get in my room. For the price there are other better options in Barcelona but not horrible.

This was such a nice place to stay. It's in a great location, right near some Gaudi buildings, right near a lovely walking path, tons of shop and cafes, near the river front... And the hostel was nice. It has a great rooftop and shared dining area. We really enjoyed our stay.

  • 4/5 Nazgul R. 1 year ago on Google
In general quiet good hostel. Only problem could be if you want to work at common space as they usually have music pretty loud. During high demand seasons - you can expect to meet all kind of people, some are nice some are literally crazy=). Rooms are clean and bedding were clean and fresh.

Some things that I was uncomfortable with: 1. Sometimes beds in hostels have those things on the sides where you cannot be seen while sleeping and have your privacy. Many of us were putting towels for this purpose. 2. Other thing: the drawers did not have any shelves or anything. My clothes had to stay folded and everything was in bags. May not be a problem for a boy but for a girl not to be able to organize her things? 3. I had this pipe near my head and I was able to hear people talking and laughing at night. Sounds not that cool, right? 4. Balconies are closed? Where are we supposed to put our clothes to dry after we wash them? Behind my head? Location is of course very good. Staff people are professional and you can see they try to keep the place tidy. Breakfast was nice and worth the money. The plus of a hostel is that you can make tons of friends from all over the world.

Good place for a brief stay. The staff is very nice and the common room with the eating area is also nice. The rooms and bathrooms could be cleaner though. 24 hour reception also means late arrivals and a noisy atmosphere at night. But all in all a nice and central place for a short stay in Barcelona.

I stayed for 3 nights in a 14 bed mixed gender room in July 2022 based on a friend's recommendation. The rooftop bar is VERY social and an easy way to meet people. The breakfast in the second floor restaurant/lounge was €6 and was pretty basic consisting of bread, eggs, cereal, fruit, juice, and a espresso machine BUT you can eat as much as you want! This place is perfectly located for travelers and I would recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in Barcelona solo or on a budget. The staff is friendly, helpful, and they do a great job cleaning.

DON'T GO THERE My luggage have been stolen in the lobby of this hotel as I registerded at 10pm and absolutly no manager showed up, nor tried to find a solution, nor assume their responsability. They didn't even offered a toothbrush ! Thanks for the "SAFESTAY" !!!!! + very noisy hotel due to the corridors. Super bad service. I went to the YEAH barcelona Hostel afterward, don't lose your time and money and go there directly : it is safe, nice, clean, and directors are truly taking care of you and not just about your wallet.

It’s an okay hostel, but not great. The staff can be quite stand offish and rude at times, and the desk is often understaffed with long wait times. The rooms are not the best, but have lockers. Two showers and two toilets are shared between around 50-75 guests and the showers have little privacy - no locks or doors, only curtains. However there is a nice bar in the hostel and a lovely upstairs terrace. Definitely not the worst hostel in Barcelona

Still here but thought I’d review now! Great stay already: -great bar -great staff -comfy bed -surprisingly quiet for a hostel (which I love) -very very clean showers etc -gorgeous views -great location Everything’s great! Got 7 more days here and I’m already upset about leaving 🇪🇸

I've been to a few seedy hostels and honestly I've never even been close to leaving a review but here we are. I was reorganizing my belongings after just getting in from a flight outside my room (because of the quiet hours) leaving ample room in the walkway to get around. I was about as far into the corner as possible out of the way. I was approached by the staff in a very aggressive matter (without a mask within 6 feet of me) that this was unacceptable because of Covid-19. I tried to explain what I was doing with my belongings and he was incredibly rude and condescending that because of Covid I couldn't be in the hallway doing what I was doing. So I said I'm cleaning it up right and he continued to stand there berating me to clean up my stuff. Wasn't really sure what else to do and it was just an all around uncomfortable experience. Also they don't really care about the quiet hours and would just casually flick on the lights at 3 in the morning showing guests to their beds and would not enforce the quiet hours to the loud drunk patrons. Solid water pressure tho.

Friends and I stayed at Safestay for 2 nights and with there being some issues nothing to actually do with the staff or hostel it self, Alejandro was amazing and super helpful! With it all.He was so welcoming and nice and definitely looked after us. The rooms were also very decent and it is located in a very good spot for shopping.

Great location and decent price. Now that we got the good stuff out of the way: heavily understaffed - long check-in lines on both days that I was there. Had to wait for an hour for my bed to be ready. Dirty bathrooms. Shared bathrooms in horrible state, with old curtains and broken locks. No shared kitchen! I thought this is a basic thing for hostels... Would not stay again, despite my love for a good bargain.

It is not so difficult to put soup to bathrooms. The hostel was freezing, we went there on November 5, there is no heating and not enough blankets. The location is good, you can reach to many places by walking. The beds are making a lot of noise.

We had a brilliant stay here. The building is in an excellent central location with great bars, restaurants and shops around. Additionally, it’s very very affordable and in the guys in reception helped us with all our questions. Thank you to the team! We will be back soon!

Good breakfast, staffs are nice, good location. The beds are uncomfortable, the bathroom is not clean and the drain was clogged causing the toilet to flood. We called the staffs and they asked for maintenance but next day I myself had to take the hair out of the drain with a paper so it wouldn't clog again, disgusting. Too expensive, not worthy

For the price and location I can't really fault it. The 'free breakfast' ( otherwise known as lard on toast) leaves a lot to be desired and of course some staff members are more helpful than others but for a short break you can't go wrong

  • 3/5 Ivan G. 2 years ago on Google
Basic hostel with the essentials for a cheap stay in the centre of Barcelona. The dorms are okay. The wifi signal isn't strong inside some rooms. The breakfast is simple but, is all you can eat. The staff is nice.

I had 2 night reservation between 1 and 3 of April. I came to hotel 2 hours before and my room card was cancelled. Then i came to reception to make it renew and i back to room again. I saw that someone else was sleeping in my bed. They checked and they accept that 2 times they sold my bed and they cancelled my room card. Now i am waiting outside and they dont want to refund my money. please be careful in this hotel. They may have sold your place to someone else even though you paid and made a reservation. maybe you can sleep outside like me abecause reception said me it is normal.
