I had a booking at this hostel, but I couldn't stay because they turned me back at the door in the middle of the night. Their justification, surreal as it sounds, was that someone sharing my first name and with 'a similar voice' had called them earlier in the day and was rude to them. So as a result, just like that and with no further evidence, I had to grab my two bags and my bike and go find another hostel at 11 pm. Because 'they could not confirm' that I was not the rude person. I mean, I almost want to try and empathize with their perspective, but, is this all it takes? You can be refused entry because your first name is suspicious? Or because some girl in the reception decides that she can judge which voices sound similar and which do not? And you have to lose your rights as a guest and as a customer? Shouldn't they have a system to at least verify which phone numbers have called them, and if they don't have it, does that mean that they can just make blind guesses and turn away guests at their will with no consequences? Is that the quality of the service in this hostel? I have made around two hundred individual bookings with Booking.com in dozens of countries and I've had my share of unusual experiences, but this has to be one of the most jarring, absurd and ridiculous that I have ever experienced. To be turned away at the door, in the middle of the night, because SOMEONE ELSE had done something BEFORE my arrival. It really is the most bizarre violation of rights as a guest I have ever experienced. Just unbelievable.

Recommendes if you are 18-22yo and wanna do a pub crawl every night. If not you'll likely get annoyed. Like half of the people in the hostel seemed completely lost. Every night people woke me by talking loudly and turning on lights in the middle of the night. The hostel layout is weird, to shower you have to walk to a different floor. Four toilet cabins (separated by thin wall not reaching the floor) crammed on 3 sq meters. No place to quietly recharge a bit. The free (simple) dinner is nice. Jessica, one of the volunteer girls, cooked really great. The other night just some spaghetti and a spoon of tomato sauce.

The hostel is great. I've spent a lot of time in hostels and this one was very comfortable. My downsides are the showers and washrooms being on separate floors from each other, and most likely from your dorm as well. The beds in the dorms have a great curtain to separate them, they are well build, and soft. It is wheelchair accessible.

Mixed feelings about this hostel. Outlets in each bed are great and the night manager was very nice. Unfortunately that's where the good things end. The pub crawl is quite a scam, just taking you to tourist traps. The day manager was extremely angry and woke us up at 11 because we were supposed to be out of the room. We weren't told this beforehand but she did not want to listen. My AirPods were stolen by one of the cleaning ladies and the showers were subpar. Not sure whether I'd visit again

This hostel was wonderful! The staff were all so friendly and the amenities were wonderful. The beds in the dorm were wonderful, nightlight, thick curtains, usb outlet, and a comfy mattress. I would definitely stay here again!

Would not recommend this hostel, apart from the location nothing is good about this place. Pro - location is perfect to reach many popular areas on foot. - Good kitchen area if you want to cook. Cons - Super noisy specially late night. People are not at all considerate about other in the room - Bathrooms were super dirty with broken door locks and shower heads. Half of the showers in ladies bathroom were out of service. - Wifi never worked in our room.

As someone who is 180cm tall, I found the toilets at this place to be quite small and uncomfortable to use. If you're taller than me, you may want to consider finding another place with more spacious bathroom facilities. Additionally, it was a bit confusing to figure out who worked there and who didn't, as everyone seemed to be using the same facilities and mingling with guests. However, I should note that there were no Spanish employees, although it seemed like there weren't many Spanish people in Barcelona in general. Overall, if you prioritize comfortable bathroom facilities and prefer to interact with Spanish staff, this might not be the ideal place for you.

Actually every single thing was perfect in this place! It's very clean, workers are very helpful and nice, location is really good (right next to the arc of triumph and couple of good, cheep restaurants). Each night there is something organized in the hostel so even if you travel alone you're not gonna be bored. I really recommend this place and hope to come back soon!

Thanks to the staff for this incredible time in Barna !! 😍❤💛 The hostel is very clean, close from the sea, the city center and the bus station. There is a lot of accomodations like a nice kitchen, a lounge, washing machines and calm areas. They propose a free friendly dinner and activities like making paëlla together or amazing pub crawls at night 😌 The atmosphere is very friendly, you can meet people from everywhere ! I will gonna miss a lot Susanne, Hari, Anaí, Nacho, Martin and all of you ❤

I don't really recommend the hostel for the price they ask, the common areas are very dark there is no daylight so you don't really want to stay there and there is no outdoor place. The rooms are small and the toilets/bathroom are not practical. The Black Swan hostel in Sevilla was much better and more welcoming

Such a fun hostel, so many activities, and very social. I felt very safe, the beds were comfortable and the rooms were very clean. Great location also, very close to the gothic quarter, and close to many transit options.

I loved the Black Swan hostel! The communal (free) friendly dinners were so delicious and a great way to meet fellow travelers. All of the staff were so welcoming and accommodating. It was the best place we have stayed on our trip so far this summer. We love the black swan hostel! Perfect location as well.

Beautiful experience. They really know how to entertain people. Santi is very genuine and really down to earth person. He made me feel completely at home. I loved the pub crawl with Mofie and Bella and events they organize every night at a really cheap price. They put a lot of passion in the work and you can feel it. I found the hostel very clean, despite the amount of people coming everyday. The rooms very comfortable. For sure one of the best hostel in Bcn, would recommend it to everyone. Whenever i will visit that beautiful city, i will come back for sure. A big hug to all the staff, Luca

I really enjoyed my stay, I had a private triple with two others and it was spacious and well air conditioned. The dinner and bar crawl they offered were also really enjoyable and made meeting people easy!

A super nice hostel 10 min steps from plaza catalunya and just a few minutes from arc de triomf. The staff was very friendly. The moment I had to leave I didn't feel well, I told the staff and they did everything they could to help me. The room was also very nice, the beds had curtains and our room also had a balcony. Everything was very clean. I would definitely recommend it but book well in advance otherwise you will pay a lot of money....

Amazing location local to everything walking distance !! The staff are really nice especially Shayna, Jared, Lucas and Josephine. They really took care of me during my trip, organising various activities and bring people together. It’s a very social hostel and gets cleaned regularly twice a day which is nice and facilities are good! Would definitely recommend and come back here again.

First hostel experience, the free dinner was really nice and the staff were all very friendly, there were a great variety of free and paid activities to do like free walking tours and a paid pub crawl. I most recommend the bunkers, Lucas was a wonderful guide.

Booked this hostel after deciding to stay an extra night in Barcelona. Great location on a quieter street. Great temperature in the room. Locker underneath the bed. Curtains on bed for privacy. Staff were friendly. Nightly events to engage all of the guests. Very clean. Would definitely stay again. The only knock I would have is that the toilets are very tight with barely any room to move once door is closed. 😄

As a first time solo female traveller this hostel exceeded my expectations. I felt safe within both the hostel and the location within Barcelona. Staff were amazing at making you feel welcome and giving daily recommendations for activities. Rooms were safe and clean, clean sheets provided as well as lockers and curtains on the beds. I recommend checking out the daily activities and joining on the bar crawl and dinner to meet other traveler’s and further enjoy your stay. You can’t leave without doing one of Sebastian’s tours as well.

Great location, enjoyable hostel to stay at. Most staff are lovely. Rooms and bathrooms/wash areas are clean. Free vegetarian dinners and organised pub crawls help if you’re a solo traveler. Our air conditioning was broken and the room became unbearably hot, the staff didn’t seem too rushed to fix it, happy we were leaving the following day.

My first hostel experience - and it was everything I could ask for. The staff was super friendly, and Sebastien was great to take his time to show me around more and make me feel more comfortable. Events being hosted everyday for the hostel and free dinner was also amazing. If I visit Barcelona, I would love to stay in this hostel again. Thank you guys for everything. Much love.

A fun, lively hostel that is great for meeting other travelers! The entire building is a bit cramped, but they make good use of the space in the rooms and common areas. As others have noted, toilets and showers are very small, and the facilities are not always the cleanest. Overall, though, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay! Free meal every night, and live music from Simone were great! Santi, Paul, Iury, Gabi, and the rest of the staff were very welcoming and helped make my stay memorable!

This hostel is a perfect place for you if you want to meet new people, enjoy good parties,... every day you can go on a free walking tour with the hostel. Every night you can eat for free in the hostel, every night you can go on a pubcrawl. The pubcrawl is organised by Barcelona Party Animals. The owner of the Barcelona Party Animals, Mofie, does his job very good. The other party promotors (Sebastian and Aaron) also know how to hype u up! You will have a great time with them! The accomodation is also perfect. Super clean!! The curtains on the bed give you privacy. The staff are the nicest people. The location is so great, very central! Close to arc the triompf

Excellent stay at Black Hostel, would highly recommend. Very social with lots of events happening each day, but dormitory room was quiet (female only) so no noise issues at night! Great facilities.

My stay here has been amazing!! The staff is extremely nice!! Last night Luis (one of the staff members) took us to a super fun pub crawl… IT WAS SOOOO FUN!!! And he cared that all of us where having a good time. Also, it has a kitchen, fridges, they do a delicious dinner every night, plus beds with curtains, clean bathrooms and spaces to get to know the people and play board games with others of the hostel.

If you are looking to meet new friends, go on amazing pub crawls, explore Barcelona all for an extremely cheap and reasonable price? This is your place to stay. As someone who personally heavily dislikes hostels, this hostel, while small feels so cozy and like home. The cleaning staff do an amazing job of keeping the entire hostel sparkling clean while also respecting visitor’s belongings. Along with this, the front desk receptionists are extremely nice, fluent in English and Spanish and are always helpful. This hostel has laundry, a kitchen and even a couch to just kick back on. Its also located in a great area in Spain. Overall loved it. 10/10. I just wish I had picked out nicer outfits to wear everyday

Party hostel?? Where?? They close everything at like 10pm, make us leave the common areas at 11, and then kept hassling us when we tried to move our fun elsewhere. The pub crawl has maybe 3 people on it, they didn’t curate any drinking games. And the rules are crazy. No one in the rooms from 11am - 2pm? At a party hostel? Then the rooms were so cold I ended up getting sick and couldn’t even have fun. They put a tiny little space heater that didn’t even fill the room with heat. The vibe and energy were so weird here.

Their workers aren’t paid. They practically enslave people. Things got stolen as well. Dangerous areas.

Hostel was really great! Location is perfect for exploring the city and all touristic places. People are nice, warm and willing to help and that means a lot :). Rooms and all common areas were always clean. I love the different activities they offer, from salsa classes, watching flamenco shows, going to Bunkers to see the whole city while sun goes down, learning how to cook paella, nights out. My recommendations :)

Everything was good, the location is nice and i want to give a special mention to Nacy, the receptionist :) I had to wait a long time for the hot water in the showers but it’s not a big deal. Would recommend

I loved being there, the place is very cool and clean, the location is perfect for roaming in the center of the country, almost everything is close to each other and the people there are wonderful and respectful so i will give 9/10 .

As a first time hostel user, this place is fantastic. The front desk has been helpful with a person present there 24/7, and English speaking for those who don't speak the local tongue. Marie and Emmanuel are the 2 people I interacted with and they definitely were friendly and welcoming (made my stay). The place is clean and tidy. My only criticism is that the rooms are too warm. The atmosphere for tourists is fabulous, whether you're a solo traveller or with a group, the hostel carries out activities and provides free dinners which for me seemed quite inclusive. I highly recommend Black Swan for anyone going to Barcelona

Laura at reception was wonderful! All staff and volunteers were super friendly. Willing to give recommendations for just about anything in the city. The curtains on the bunks are a very nice touch that adds a lot of privacy. Guided pub crawl and dinner was also very nice.

I had the best time in Black Swan! All people were lovely, the facilities great. Also the beds with curtains let you feel a little privacy. Would totally recommend🥰

recommend this hostel!! very nice people (staff & fellow guests), with lots of activities (perfect for solo travellers & young people looking to make friends). my dorm bed was comfy, air conditioned & quiet only slight issue to improve on was vague disorganisation with no real explanation eg very slow to check in, and a slightly chaotic club trip — but still a great place overall:)

Free dinners were a good way to hang out with people. A bit too much "party" for me. Pub crawls every night and so on. But good hostel with good people

Black Swan was a wonderful experience, the facilities are above average for a hostel and include free vegetarian dinner every day which was always so good. The staff are also amazing, especially Rocio who helped me feel right at home in Barcelona.

Great hostel to stay in. Price, location, 24 hr reception, very friendly & helpful.Transport links close by. Beds fresh, comfortable and private. Facilities for washing clothes, well equipped kitchen, dining/chilling areas. Separate dormitories for males&females. Disabled ♿ friendly. The ambiance is very chilled and welcoming. I most definitely recommend The Black Swan as a place to stay. Perfect!

Black Swan hostel has been one of the BEST hostel i’ve ever been ( & I been in a lot all over the world). The hostel is in a great area, super clean, comfortable beds, everything was great for the price & THEY HAVE FREE DINNER EVERYDAY!!!!!! As a solo traveler on a budget this is a HUGE thing & let me tell you the food was AMAZING. Now what made my stay a special one was the workers here. Daniel, Darwin, Ana & pretty ALL of them ( i forgot some names ) were absolutely amazing, welcoming & made me feel at home. I had an amazing time and i will definitely be back here my next time in Barcelona. Thank you Black Swan for making my stay an amazing one. - Karina
