I
had
a
booking
at
this
hostel,
but
I
couldn't
stay
because
they
turned
me
back
at
the
door
in
the
middle
of
the
night.
Their
justification,
surreal
as
it
sounds,
was
that
someone
sharing
my
first
name
and
with
'a
similar
voice'
had
called
them
earlier
in
the
day
and
was
rude
to
them.
So
as
a
result,
just
like
that
and
with
no
further
evidence,
I
had
to
grab
my
two
bags
and
my
bike
and
go
find
another
hostel
at
11
pm.
Because
'they
could
not
confirm'
that
I
was
not
the
rude
person.
I
mean,
I
almost
want
to
try
and
empathize
with
their
perspective,
but,
is
this
all
it
takes?
You
can
be
refused
entry
because
your
first
name
is
suspicious?
Or
because
some
girl
in
the
reception
decides
that
she
can
judge
which
voices
sound
similar
and
which
do
not?
And
you
have
to
lose
your
rights
as
a
guest
and
as
a
customer?
Shouldn't
they
have
a
system
to
at
least
verify
which
phone
numbers
have
called
them,
and
if
they
don't
have
it,
does
that
mean
that
they
can
just
make
blind
guesses
and
turn
away
guests
at
their
will
with
no
consequences?
Is
that
the
quality
of
the
service
in
this
hostel?
I
have
made
around
two
hundred
individual
bookings
with
Booking.com
in
dozens
of
countries
and
I've
had
my
share
of
unusual
experiences,
but
this
has
to
be
one
of
the
most
jarring,
absurd
and
ridiculous
that
I
have
ever
experienced.
To
be
turned
away
at
the
door,
in
the
middle
of
the
night,
because
SOMEONE
ELSE
had
done
something
BEFORE
my
arrival.
It
really
is
the
most
bizarre
violation
of
rights
as
a
guest
I
have
ever
experienced.
Just
unbelievable.
