ONE BIG FAILURE!!!! My family and I had reservations at the rooftop restaurant attached to the Ayre Hotel on September 8, 2021 for 3:30pm. Unfortunately, the treatment we met with there is unacceptable. At the very beginning we were seated at a small low table for 5 people, which mainly only held drinks. After ordering extra food, we began to wonder where all the meals would fit. The waiter brought plates and tricks which he placed right in the middle between the drinks. After several minutes he came with the dishes, placed the plates in my hands without a word, arranged the dishes and started to walk away. In the process he also nudged my drink straw (which fell to the ground) with his hand, additionally touching the glass, to which he did not say a word. As we know, during a pandemic this is quite inappropriate, considering that he had no gloves and I don't know if his hands were sterilized beforehand. Sitting still with plates in my hands, I asked for an extra table so that everyone could eat at the table and not sitting with it in their hands. We were informed that another one will be delivered soon. After 10 minutes the waiter still wasn't coming back, so I went to the bar where the order is placed - I asked again if we can ask for an extra table and informed about the situation with the drink. I was informed that he was still trying to arrange a table for us and denied that he hadn’t done anything with my drink. I immediately got a new straw (but I think I should receive a new drink) and the waiter followed me to our table saying he was very busy, even though he was standing behind the bar doing absolutely nothing. He got us a table that was free next to us, which he was able to do right away when I asked for an extra one. The food we received was unfortunately cold, except for the patatas, and there were four of them. Having no desire to continue spending time there after finishing the meal we headed for the exit. The waiter who served us didn't say a word of goodbye to us only escorting us with his eyes. After going downstairs to the reception I asked the lady about the dignity of the employee because I wanted to make a complaint. Unfortunately, she didn't know who was working there today, so she contacted the manager so I could inform him of what happened. After a few minutes he came down to see us, but for such a position I expected a higher level conversation, which I did not receive. The manager kept saying that it was his friend and he didn't seem to understand what we were saying to him. As well as the waiter he spoke to us in full sentences in Spanish even though I asked if they spoke English because we only knew some words and sentences in their native language. Then he asked the receptionist to translate the entire discussion. We were invited for a free drink at the hotel, but they should knew that after such a bad service we didn't want to go back there again. The only response we received was an apology, so we left the hotel disgusted. We do not recommend this place at all, a employees (except receptionist) should not work in such a place. We will definitely never return and do not recommend anyone to spend your free time there.

The hotel is beautiful. The location is amazing. The rooftop of the hotel is so so nice. I would have given 5 stars but when we came they told us we have complimentary breakfast. So the next the day we went and ate and even told the guy at breakfast room to double check and he did. On the day of checkout, there was a rude girl on the reception. She forcefully charged us. I even tried explaining to her that it literally says on the room key that complimentary breakfast was included but she didn’t care and she charged me way over $30 euros. She was just rude and not willing to listen at all. I was getting late to my airport so I couldn’t argue and I paid and left. Everyone else was amazing but because of this one woman I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.

Our arrival in Barcelona began with the theft of my wallet, which contained my documents and some of the money at the exit from the cathedral. We turned to the hotel staff for help. They not only helped us quickly contact the police, but made important calls to Canada to close credit cards. In the future, this helped us obtain new documents very quickly. In general, the staff turned out to be very friendly. The room was clean, the bed was fresh, and the breakfast was extremely delicious. Also, the staff assisted in parking the car, so we did not worry about the car. We had a great time on the roof of the hotel, drinking some wine and then hot coffee.

Terrible experience. Would not recommend staying here unless you don't mind being spoken to like dirt, getting a bit of attitude at every interaction or being on the receiving end of the wrath of the staff. Felt unwelcome within 5 minutes of entering the hotel. With a few exceptions, the people at reception were extremely impolite. Would go as far to suggest the kitchen/breakfast staff should switch places with reception. They were far more personable than the majority of those fronting the reception.

The rooms were stuffy and warm as the hotel claims it is required by law that the Air conditioning be set to a certain temperature. It’s a lie, left to another hotel and had a much better experience. Rooms here are also tiny compared with the other hotels.

This hotel is the perfect place to stay. The service is amazing, rooms were clean and everyone is friendly. But the main reason to stay at this hotel is the view. I can guarantee you will not find a better place to view La Sagrada Familia then here on their rooftop patio. Enjoy the spectacular view while enjoying a perfectly made gin drink

This was a great hotel that was very accommodating, they have early check in and late check out times which is great to suit your flight times. The rooftop bar was amazing, the view was great. The breakfast buffet was delicious every morning with a lot of choice for everyone. I loved the room it had a great shower, great view and the bed was comfy

Amazing location but TERRIBLE service. You can’t get anyone on the phone, they send you to their website instead. No one ever got back to me regarding a reservation on their terrace. When we got there, they didn’t even know I made a special birthday request a week in advance. We literally spent 5 minutes there and left. Fast finger food was the only option on their menu. All 10 of us ended up in a very nice restaurant nearby instead.

Really poor set up and service. You need to make a reservation then check in and order food and drinks at the bar on the ground floor. This took 15 minutes - you only have a 60 minute slot. Then you have to take your plastic glasses up to the rooftop. Note despite making a reservation you are not allocated a seat or table. The tables were dirty and only cleared of dirty glasses and empty bottles every 30 minutes. Best posh portaloo I have experienced. A real disappointment

Service desk was helpful and friendly. Breakfast buffet was excellent. Rooftop bar was beautiful and the sangria and foods were very nice. Room nice, quiet, plenty of storage, good air condition , but bedding was not clean. Sheets had some debris and quilt in closet was visibly not clean as well. Sheets and bedding had some marks and a faint oder of urine which made me question if they were cleaned before our arrival. I was only staying for one night so I was too tired to complain. If the sheets were clean and the quilt in closet was clean I would have given a higher rating. Also saw some hair on the shower floor which I cleaned myself . Overall a nice hotel but the administration should make sure the housekeeper is really cleaning the bedding and room thoroughly. Due to the questionable cleaning, I will not stay there again.

    - The room needed some TLC, was very dated and had not seen a touch of paint or adequate maintenance in a while. - The bed was not fixed in position and moved. - The headboard is essentially a wall and needs some cushioning. - The shower had significant limescale build up and was leaking from the connector. - Any noise from either the corridor, lobby or floor above was easily heard in the room (the soundproofing was poor) - When I booked, I was not aware that I would get an "inside" room with no exterior windows. - The roof terrace was very nice with a great view. - Most staff were very friendly.

Excellent Hotel, the personnel was so attentive and dedicated, that make your stay a unique one. The view from the terrace is just breath taken, the bar and tapas at the hotel were on point, definitely this is a hotel that is centric and perfect for Barcelona visits.

The hotel is in the best location! Walking distance to most every thing in the city! The gentleman at the desk spoke excellent English and helped us get a car for an early flight through the company we had originally scheduled it. The flight time Had changed to much earlier and he really saved the day! I believe his name was Greg.. maybe Alfred? Anyway he was very helpful. The hotel was great with a rooftop bar! The view of the city is spectacular! It is right next to La Sagrada Familia. I would love to come and stay longer!

Staff were great, room was very clean and well equipped! Very quiet too, a good retreat from the craziness of Sagrada. Can we talk about the rooftop view? Unreal, the best I’ve seen in Barcelona for sure.

Did not stay at the hotel but had dinner and drinks at the roof top bar. Very nice experience and a iconic view. Staff very friendly and managed to arrange a table even though I did not have a reservation and this is recommended 3 days in advance. I can recommend the roof top bar.

Pros: Excellent location, a few steps from Metro. Front Desk personnel is very kind and helpful Rooms are spacious and clean. Cons: The shower in my room didn't work properly. The air-conditioning system can not be adjusted. Lobby bar closes early. Overall, very good, I would stay there again.

  • 2/5 Michele A. 9 months ago on Google
The shower was cold (would warm up for only a seconds), room was very rundown and dirty, room AC would not go less than 20C, and bathroom had items that were broken. Some positives: The staff was friendly, location was excellent, and the rooftop bar was beautiful. I would not recommend or return. There are better places for your money.

The location is good and the roof top provides nice views. However, what hotelin today's age does not offer a coffee maker in the room or even hot water for tea? Very cheap.

Second time staying here. The rooms (internally facing) are good but the bed being on the hard side. Breakfast has great options. The main event is the roof terrace view with unlimited access for hotel guests. The best in the city! Although cocktails are on the expensive side but there are other more reasonable drinks served.

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. The location is excellent, close to a lot of great sites. The room was very nice, comfortable bed, great view from the window. The breakfasts were great however the coffee maker is extremely slow and a bit complicated to use, as elsewhere in Europe the bacon was too rare (raw) for our tastes. Missed having an ice machine available, we had to order a bucket from the bar.

I had heard that you had to book in advance for an evening at the rooftop, but when we arrived it was pretty much empty. There was a big family and some kids making tiktoks and being very loud which kind of ruined the ecperience for us. And the service was a bit slow and mistook our order. Other than that the view is incredibly beautiful, so i suggest to go there for some photos and some cocktails during sunset.

  • 5/5 Sudipto G. 9 months ago on Google
We didn’t stay here but visited the rooftop bar which has the best views of Sagrada Familia. There is a minimum order but it well worth the fantastic front row seats to the most famous basilica in town. Go near sunset for the best experience!

This was our first time here. If you are headed to LA Sagrada Familia this hotel is a short walk away. We were in room #306 and our view was incredible...like a framed picture of LA Sagrada Familia. The view from the rooftop terrace was also great. This room did not have a balcony, that would have made truly awesome. About the hotel, service was incredible though at times wait can be long. I think they would benefit greatly from introducing check out from tv. Oh, may be very important...if you arrive early, they can store your luggage for you until check in. They offer early check in IF available for an additional amount. Ok, so once you arrive at your room, here are a couple of things that weren't initially explained to us but may prove important to you as they were to us. Your room key MUST be in the spot for it by the door so that your electric and air conditioner work and don't forget to hit the POWER button on the AC each time. We thought ours didn't work until they told us about the power button. The room was clean and comfortable even if a bit small by USA standards. The toiletries were great and even included a comb and a toothbrush and paste. We did not particularly care for the food we got from room service but other than that our stay was quite pleasant. Breakfast, if chosen as an add on option was adequate and convenient though there are a few other places nearby where one could go. We felt safe walking around the area and happy to say ZERO pickpocket attempts. We would stay here again if in the area. Also, there is a great and inexpensive restaurant just around the bend that serves a great Sangria and Paella. They also have some lunch specials for like $13 that include everything including a dessert.

Amazing stay and amazing views. I stayed with a group of 9 for a cousins trip and we loved the hotel. Very clean and modern. A huge plus was the stunning rooftop views/room views. The service was great and all workers were kind. Having unlimited access to the rooftop was awesome!

Excellent location, clean room, great air conditioner, and the friendliest staff that we encountered in all of Spain! The room was so clean and nice. The best was very comfortable. And the hotel staff were so friendly, helpful, and accommodating. We encountered a lot of rude hotel staff in other hotels that we stayed at but the hotel staff here were incredible and they made us feel so welcome. Also, the rooftop balcony bar has the best view of La Sagrada Familia in the whole city! I would definitely stay here again.

We enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The rooftop terrace is definitely a key attraction to the hotel. We were surprised by the quality of the food we ate on the terrace. A crisis was avoided after the front desk clerk said she needed our original passport. She mentioned the online check-in to say we should have received an email to complete the documentation portion of the check-in. We completed the process and she accepted the copy for the verification. The room was beautiful (Junior Suite). Looking forward to staying at the hotel again in the near future. We selected the rate with the breakfast included and for us it was worth it.

Very friendly and helpful staff on the front desk. Nothing was too much trouble and they were all very polite and courteous. Rooms were clean and kept to a high standard during our stay. The breakfast was good and again the staff were polite and helpful. The rooftop bar and view was spectacular. We loved the location, the view and all the staff.

We travelled in December. Hotel location was ideal less than 5 minutes walk to the metro. We also walked to park guell which was about a 40 minute easy walk. Room was spacious and clean. We stayed in Sagrada Familia view room which was definitely worth the extra nightly cost in my opinion.

Is was advertised as a 4 star hotel, but this is more a 2 star hotel. We are not picky, we just needed a bed to sleep in, but we were surprised as we expected 4 star hotel with a fancy rooftop bar and it definitely was not. Some negatives: - There was no window in the room! This felt quite suffocating. There was a glass wall from the room that faced the lobby, but not an actual window you could open or see out. It felt very tight, stuffy and dark. We had to keep the curtain closed for privacy - The TV in the room was fake (only radio channels) - No room service. We tried calling several times during opening hours and no one answered. - We booked a room with a double bed, but it was two single beds pushed together with a gap between them (you couldn’t push them entirely together) - Shower curtain in the bathroom is a bit gross - No nice soaps in the bathroom - Beautiful view on the rooftop, but the bar is old and everything was worn down. Positives: - Nice location - Friendly staff - Open reception 24/7 - Nice fresh towels in the room every day - Toothbrushes and toothpaste in the bathroom All in all is was fine, but the worst was that there was no window and that we expected it to be a 4 star hotel, which it clearly wasn’t, and paid quite a lot to stay here. Maybe it was 4 stars some 30 years ago…Please put on your website that there is no window and no double bed in these rooms.

The advantages staying in this hotel are (1) close to La Sagrada Familia and (2) you have priority access to the rooftop bar which facing directly the church and you can take good photo and enjoy the scene in particular in good weather. Staff are helpful as a 4 star hotel. However, room is not very clean (we had a m&m on the floor under the table first day when we checked in and stained bed sheet on the other day) and facility not really well maintained (bathroom has some mold and the only window of the room is half broken). Most importantly the bathroom is super hot, like a sauna and you can't control the temperature of the air conditioning in the room after we found the room is hot). Breakfast is so so with no hot dishes. Don't stay for more than a night.

We had an amazing time at this hotel! The front desk staff were incredibly friendly, polite and courteous, making our stay a truly enjoyable experience. The rooms were spotless and well-maintained throughout our stay, which was impressive. The breakfast was delicious and the staff were always friendly and attentive. We were blown away by the spectacular rooftop bar and the stunning view of the La Sagrada Familia! The location was fantastic & safe. We couldn't have been happier with the friendly and helpful staff.

We booked the rooftop hotel a week in advance from our trip date and we were lucky to have a booking. Upon arriving the receptionist asked us to wait and then guided us to the rooftop. We had sangrias for €5 each which was a good price for the view and some dessert. Even though we booked, we were not offered the comfortable sofa seating but only high chairs. The sun can be a bit harsh and due to the wind they cannot always keep the sunshades open.

The staff are 5 star. The reception team, especially Albert are great. Lovely buffet breakfast. And the view from the 8th floor bar is unparalleled. Amazing value for money. PS the room would have been 4 star but they got the 5 stars for delivering a kettle!

  • 3/5 Steve R. 2 years ago on Google
Although basically furnished (don't expect à kettle for your evening tea) rooms are capacious and offer a smashing view on the Sagrada Familia. The rooftop is also very enticing. Breakfast is correct, nothing too fancy.

  • 5/5 Brandon M. 2 years ago on Google
We didn't stay at the hotel but did reserve a table at the roof top bar. The evening was beautiful and the view of La Sagrada Familia was incredible. We ordered sangria and a bikini sandwich which were both fantastic. The sangria was rich and loaded with fruits and fresh cinnamon sticks that boosted the flavors. The sandwich was crisply and just right for a bikini. Keep in mind if you want to reserve a table here as well to enjoy the view, you are required to order at least 1 drink per person in your party and are limited to an hour and half of roof top time.

  • 3/5 Anita C. 2 years ago on Google
We stayed at a junior suite recently. The room was spacious and the jacuzzi was good. We were however a little disappointed with the view. There were three floor to ceiling large windows facing the wonderful Sagrada Familia. But the middle one was made opaque perhaps for design reasons. This greatly reduces the impact of the view. Also, basic things like shower caps and boxes of tissue paper were not provided even when requested. Only coffee but not teabags was provided. Slippers and kettle have to be requested. It seems the former are normally not free of charge either. But the reception staff waived the charges maybe because we were spending our wedding anniversary that evening. The staff was nice and the room rates were reasonable. But those looking for a good view of the Sagrada Familia could just go to the terrace which offers a really wonderful view.

A really good option to stay at Barcelona with and amazing view to La Sagrada Familia and the top roof that you can enjoy for free if you're staying here. The rooms are really nice and the breakfast offered it's a really good and affordable option to start your day.

Really bad if you’re a tourist. The receptionist is overly rude.

We've chosen this hotel for the magnificent terrace views looking over La Sagrada Familia. We were delighted to discover exceptional services from the staff and a very balanced breakfast. I did however forget a pair of sunglasses in the room, I'm still waiting for a feedback from the hotel on the practical ways to get it back.

  • 2/5 Yalda J. 1 year ago on Google
The positive thing about the hotel is the location. That being said, we booked a standard room which later found out had no window to exterior of the building. The window was towards the reception area and we had a lot of colorful lights and noise during the night and no natural light during the day. It really messed up with our sleeping patterns especially that we already had jet lag. We also had to manually control the temperature in the room which made no sense and the wifi was very bad. We won't go back.

so close to the top city attraction, fantastic top floor terrace view. Convenient location for food, underground train or an energetic 40 minute walk to the beach. This is not a budget hotel but IMHO is good value for money

We stayed for 3 nights. Its a fairly quiet area just around the corner from Sagrada. There are good metro connections within a 5 minute walk. The rooms were a good size, clean and a nice view of the Sagrada. Plenty of towels and no issues at all. Breakfast was nice with good options. There is a lovely rooftop bar and you can see all over. Really enjoyed our stay.

Great view / location but that's about it. Room was tiny. Late check in even though we arrived on time to check in. (2 hours after regular check in time). Asked for a discount for late check in and best the dead was a free breakfast (wasn't even good) Room was not cleaned properly

the highlight of staying at this hotel is obviously the beautiful terrace overlooking La Sagrada Familia. The rooms are very subpar, old and not very clean. Countless hairs found in our sheets and bathtub that did not belong to us. walls are all scuffed up and could use some repainting. Beds were not very comfortable. The view on the terrace is amazing, and the drinks are delicious, but you definitely get what you pay for when it comes to the room.

Donna and I stayed here for our anniversary, the staff were friendly, efficient and fun. Our room was amazing we arrived late when we drew the curtains the view of Sagrada Familia blew us away The rooms was really cozy and secure. Breakfast was awesome, so much choice absolutely fantastic Brilliant location to explore the city on foot or via the metro right on the door step We had an amazing holiday cannot wait to return Highly recommend this hotel

I knew this hotel was in a great location and when I opened the door to my room I saw Sagrada Familia in the background. I have never had such a cool view! The hotel is super clean and room is quiet. The terrace is amazing with great cocktails and tapas! The staff were very kind and helpful.

Booked a superior double or twin room with city view. It does mention 1 double bed in the details but we had the twin bed.. 1 double bed, when asking the staff was very friendly and explained no rooms were left , which is a bit disappointing to get caught off guard like that. (Needs clarification) Breakfast was nice , staff too , but small details are missing according to me in order for it to be a 4* hotel : - bathroom wasn’t clean (rust in bathtub + dirt) - windows were dirty - cleaning staff was loud starting from 9am All in all an okay experience , but not entirely satisfied

The view of the Sagrada Familia from the rooftop patio is truly spectacular, and it's worth it to book her on that alone. That said, our general stay here was not spectacular. Our check-in was at 2pm, but our room wasn't ready at that time, and multiple staff brushed us off when we followed up to see when our room would be ready. More importantly, it was uncomfortably hot in our room our entire stay. Barcelona saw spring-like temps the week we were there in December, but the hotel had shut off its air conditioning. We had a room that didn't have an exterior window, so the best they could do was give us a fan, which didn't help all that much. Your best bet is to stay her for a day to get that view, then check in to a different hotel afterward.

Very nice hotel, very close to the Sagrada Famallie. Room was comfortable and withmodern decoration, a few snags such as plug socket hanging off wall, but ok. Best part of the stay is the rooftop bar & terrace over looking the Cathedral. Amazing view.
