Rude staff, poor WiFi, overpriced private rooms, only good thing is the convenient location but it’s way more touristy than I prefer. Edit: lies, threats, and cheats. we were checked in for over an hour before the receptions, being sanctioned by the owner, kicked us out and threatened to call the police for leaving an honest review. I wonder how many other lies the hostel responds to valid complaints with. I bet if the rating of Sun and Moon was accurate, it’d be closer to 2 stars.

My partner and I had booked our stay about 6 months in advance at Sun & Moon which came to 400€. On the day of check-in, we received an email from the hostel asking us to pay 3368€ immediately to secure the booking. We assumed this was a scam but after calling them, they said the price was a mistake and to just pay the 400€ on arrival. After a security incident at the airport, we were unable to make our flight so we called the hostel again to let them know. They assured us that our booking would not be cancelled. We called again once we booked our new flight (the next morning) and were reassured again that everything would be fine. Unfortunately that was not the case. Upon arrival to Barcelona, I received an email from the hostel manager (Monika) saying that our booking had been cancelled and that we would have to pay over 1200€ to make a new one. I explained the situation but was told the best they could do was give us a ‚discount‘ price of 1200€. With nowhere else to go, we visited the hostel. One staff member was also shocked that the manager was trying to make us pay triple the price. We would have been happy to pay the 400€ in advance if it wasn’t for Monika’s pure incompetence. Don‘t stay here unless you want to endure the stress of a manager who clearly does not know how to communicate with her staff or care for her customers.

The most disgusting hostel I’ve ever stayed in! Not recommended! 1) Everything is dirty, always. The room aren’t cleaned before check-in (and the check-in was around 3 PM!), the shower is gross, there’s no air circulation and everything gets moist. 2) People that work on the reception desk are clearly are underpaid and completely unmotivated to work there. 3) If you don’t pay 2€ for a blanket, you sleep without anything to cover yourself! And I doubt the blanket is ever cleaned. 4) Breakfast that costs 5€ consists of cheapest white sandwich bread, cheese and ham, awful sugary juice, bad coffee. Lady that is in charge of breakfast area is super busy and needs a second person to help her. 5) The deposit is 10€, but beware to include it in your costs, cause you’re not getting it back, as anything in the room is falling apart. 6) Lockers aren’t working. 3 out of 8 lockers in a room were broke, when we were checking in. It took them a whole day to fix it, while we had to leave our stuff unattended. The majority of negative reviews are told to be spam here, but it’s not.

I stayed here for two nights and I had great time in general. I met some travelers and Filipinos as well. Staff was awesome and service was good. They were attentive and considerate to your needs. The location is just perfect and was very convenient for me especially when I went to the beach to chase the sunrise. The hostel is 24/7 so you can just get out and get in anytime you want.

Be careful of the manager lady. She is a thief and make us paid for an unnecessary extra room. Indeed we have booked online a room with 2 double beds for 4 people and at the check in she told us that the room is only accessible for 2 people. The online booking never offer the options to select the number of people and the room pictures was clearly showing 2 double beds. Furthermore, reception team is very slow and unprofessional. To be avoided !

This was the worst hostel I have stayed at in my life. I was initially wanting to stay due to the low cost of the hostel and what seemed like comfortable, cozy rooms through the photos online. On arrival, there was a 2 euro surcharge for being a tourist, a 2 euro charge to be able to store your bag until check in at 2pm. After checking in, I found out you need to pay a further $2 Euro to have a bed blanket, this is not included in the cost. The bathroom was not cleaned properly and there was a small amount of poo on the floor of the bathroom. The bed was incredible uncomfortable and there was a lot of noise made all throughout the night, making it impossible to sleep. Please save yourself and do not stay at this hoatel.

I don’t reccomend you to stay in mixed rooms. Rooms are not clean and stings. Rooms are really cold and not soundproofed. It was very noisy all night because of the street noise. The beds made noises even at the slightest movement. The given sheets were very thin and insufficient. Also, sockets were not working.

Perfect place to stay for cheap accommodation in Barcelona. Right at the heart of the town, we never had to use public transport to enjoy most of the city. Comfy mattresses and the staff was super helpful. Especially Nico at the night shift, helped us and suggested many place to visit! Highly recommend

False advertising. This hostel does not offer adequate wifi services. The receptionist, Monica, was dismissive and unhelpful when we had a problem and when we requested a refund for services not rendered. Poor customer service and an unfriendly vibe. They provide no blankets nor luggage storage without fee. Hygiene is lacking in bathrooms.

The hostel charges for everything, it’s impossible to make early check in, the entry was available for 2 pm, when the time comes, the cleaner was just starting the cleaning. The room wasn’t clean, full of hair body on the floor and the shower. The breakfast was really good, a few things but everything delicious. I think the time for check in out is to early, the normal time it’s 12 pm and there it was 10 pm.

Very friendly, accomodating and helpful staff at the beginning (they gave us recommendations for where to go out), but soon, things took a turn for the worse: - no blankets in the room, 4€ at the reception per blanket (tf?) - This was quite problematic as one window was broken and partially fixed with a wooden plank; interesting vibe, but way too cold - joke of a kitchen, no stove tops, only a mini-oven, 2 knives and a spoon (no fork?), also questionnable insect (baby cockroach?) joined our cooking session → uninvited guest... - early checkout: 10am, asked the night before if we could use facilities/shower after checkout; just empty promises, turns out we couldn't.. - lacks the typical hostel vibes, more like a cheap motel, kinda looked like backrooms ngl Anyway, the staff was nice tho so 1 star for that :)

Great location, in the Gothic quarter & super close to the L3 metro stop. Great employee service! Particularly Marc, who gave me lots of valuable info for all my questions, and Aggassie, who ushered me to my room and bed. Only tiny quip was the ensuite shower's door didn't stay closed completely, and water pooled outside, and my locker key card needed to be pressed many times before the lock would open/close. Would stay here again, definitely.👍

I went to spend a few days with friends, and it truly exceeded expectations. I particularly highlight the party tour service they offer and the cleanliness of the place. Marcos was very kind and always willing to advise us on tourist places in the city. We will definitely be back.

Horrible! The common spaces and bathrooms where dirty. Others guests through trash in the elevator and it stayed there for 2 days. I've seen no one cleaning during my stay. The worst part was the fact that they charge you for everything. Towels, leave your baggage, hair dryer, even blankets in the middle of winter. It was 5ºC and they don't gave us BLANKETS without charging (abusively).

The staff here are amazing. They have 24 hour service and the entire process was made very easy. Marcos was excellent in helping us get settled in and checked out.

Me and my friend stayed there for 1 night. It has a perfect location and really budget-friendly. Workers were really kind to us. We really liked it.

Short version: Great central location. Friendly staff. Not the cleanest. Loud. Not recommended for couples or tall guys. Me and my girlfriend stayed here for four nights recently (october). We had reserved a private room with two double beds. Upon arriving, there was some confusion about the reservation, because they thought I was the only one staying. We were told this was ok however, and left our bags in the luggage room while we waited for the room to be ready. Upon returning, we were told we had to pay 72 euros on top of the 400£ I originally paid because we were two people. I understand the need to charge some more for two people, but it was disappointing to first be told that it was alright and afterwards having to pay anyway. The room was not the cleanest, and the drain in the shower was almost completely blocked, so that water flowed out and onto the floor in our room after a 2 minute shower. The shower floor was also sticky with old soapy water from previous guests. We informed the staff about this and they attempted to fix this while we were out, but the water kept leaking out onto the floors. Also showering was a mess for me as a tall guy, I could not properly rinse my hair or wash my armpits because of the angle of the fixed showerhead, and kept hitting my head in the ceiling. The hostel is very loud. Not only from the street, but there was noise from the hall and other guests’ rooms around the clock. One night, the fire alarm went off at 6 o’clock for no reason. One of three days, our sheets and towels were not changed during the day. On several occasions, we saw that the luggage storage room, which costs 2£ to use, was completely open and seemingly vulnerable to theft. However, I cannot understate how great the location is. Short walking distance to whatever you should desire. The staff was also super friendly (only downside was that when we asked for local food recommendations, they gave us clearly sponsored coupons instead of actual recommendations, kind of a bummer.) PS: Afrique was kind!

Great private room for 3! Mattresses super comfy. Only down fall was the shower head but being great but for the price you can’t complain. We also had a nice little outside area. Rooms were good size. Perfect location and the staff were amazing. Very friendly and we even extended our trip which was super easy with the hostel! We will return thank you guys!

I had a great experience with this hostel! The rooms were clean and there was a decent amount of space both in the room and common area. Mark was very helpful, friendly and have a warm welcome every time we entered. He had great recommendations on where to visit in the city. Will definitely be coming back.

We stayed with my friend in female dorm for 1 night. Room had bathroom which we appreciated that we didn’t have to share them with other rooms. Under each bed there is a locker (activated by electronic card which opens door too). Room was clean and bright. Staff at reception was so friendly. They showed us what to see and how to get to airport early in the morning. They even send us location and bus schedule via WhatsApp. Definitely recommend.

No big complaints about this hostel. It's one of the cheaper options in Barcelona so quite nice for the price you're paying. Nothing's really bad, but I also don't think anything especially nice stands out. If you're looking to meet people here as a solo traveller I would recommend against booking here, the common area is not very inviting and there weren't many people there. It's fine if you're not looking for those kinds of activities and just looking to stay somewhere cheap for a few nights

Best hostel in very reasonable price. I paid 50 euros for 4 days and 3 nights. Staff very friendly, very cooperative, try their best to facilitate guests. Always treat with a smile on their face. Highly recommended

Great location! Staff are really friendly and helpful. There are lots of social activities on if you want to get involved. We did the walking tour through the hostel and it was amazing! We were staying in a 8 person dorm which had one shower and toilet. I would say at times there was a bit of a wait to be able to use the bathroom and it got quite flooded with all the use and nothing to catch the water however the rooms were cleaned regularly so the water would be mopped up. It was also a tad annoying using the push button showers, but I guess a way to make sure people aren’t in the shower for long. The windows opened up which allowed for ventilation and there was a locker you could put your things in. We would definitely stay here again!

The room was in a flawless state, the staff very friendly and cohesive, the location of the establishment great since you have limitless opportunities to explore Barcelona. Last June, 2022, I stayed in this hotel during my vacation. First, let’s talk about the room. I stayed in a shared-room for 8 people with my friends. The room is quite small and has one bathroom. The beds are bunk beds. So if you are female you should book in a female dormitory. Also, they have a locker for you. Not sure if it can be picked. And the WiFi is … I can say slow but unstable, maybe too many people. Next, the location of the hostel is pretty close to many places, so you can walk. It was amazing overall, and about the price, it’s affordable, not too expensive. I know, too late to review, but I recommend this place to my friends, so I want to give them my review.

I stayed here on 2 occasions on my trip in Spain. The first stay was pleasant and room was quiet and a cool temperature. However on my second stay the heating was insanely warm even with the windows open. Can’t choose your roommates but believe reception should inform residents that if they want to play videos late at night they just use headphones as it’s unfair on other guests and that phone calls are not permitted in the bedroom after 9/10pm and should be taken in the hallway or in the common area. Overall for a first hostel visit this was a pleasant one as it felt safe and was on the quieter side. Location is great in gothic quarter, would recommend this for a short stay if your on your own as if you want to make friends and go to events the common room is lacking.

Best location! Perfect for a City Trip. Right next door is a 24/7 supermarket, a bakery and a pub. The facilities are very basic, but absolutely adequate for 1-2 nights. Recommendable.

I was excited to stay with my friends but didn’t have the chance to do so because they suddenly “cancelled” our reservation without any advise nor confirmation. Now, we are left with no secure place to stay on the days of our trip. Please be careful in booking directly through their website. They asked personal information and card details then this kind of incident happened. We tried to call them but they said they couldn’t help and they only asked to send emails. I saw that the same thing happened to some people but they accused them of having problems with their cards. Booking a reservation is also a part of the hostel experience and our experience was really not good.

Due to a cancellation of our trip to Poland, I had to book a last-minute hostel in Barcelona. This hostel fully fullfilled my expectations. This hostel is very flexible and offered everything our group needed for a reasonable price. Thanks!

Seven diverse young women in my dorm, ready for Barcelona's late-night clubs, meant hours of makeup application that left the bathroom floor dirty and wet and spread with tissue (that ran out and was not replenished the next day - I had to ask); nothing appeared cleaned during my 2-night stay. The problematic air conditioning could not be fixed for a day/night. For the same price, during my holiday, I enjoyed three 3-star hotel rooms equally central in Barcelona and Madrid.
