DO NOT STAY HERE!!!! The only reason I booked this hostel was because they were the only hostel with availability in a girls only dorm. I’ve stayed places in Spain with no AC but this one was unbearable. Leaving the balcony door open at night was necessary and it was very loud outside. It was still horribly hot with the door open. I spent as little possible time there because of how hot it was. There were only two outlets for a room with ten girls, and the lockers were broken. AND DIRTY!!!!! I did not see anything getting cleaned the entirety of my stay (5 days) besides the sheets being swapped, and even with that my sheets were stained. The bathrooms were so disgusting and there was hardly ever any toilet paper. The showers were so so so so gross and you had to hold the button to keep the water running. The total came out to about €35/ night, and while that’s cheap, I would never recommend or stay here again. There are hostels that cost the same that are better. I would definitely spend more money to make sure I didn’t end up in a hostel this gross again. I was tempted to book a different hostel or hotel but there’s no way I could’ve gotten a refund, as they are very adamant about that. The only good things I can say about my stay were that I enjoyed the balcony in my room and that the location is awesome.

If you want the experience of living inside a prison without committing a crime, then this is the place for you. In fact, it’s worse. You’re better off behind actual bars. The location is fantastic, however the place is filthy. There was no bathroom for us to use, we had to sneak into bathrooms on other floors if we could find them, as the one on ours was filled with sewage the whole time and no one bothered to clean it in the three nights we stayed. As for the shower we did find, lemme tell you- you might feel dirtier afterwards, it was giving outlast. The lights turn off whilst ur showering, there’s no lock, you have to hold the shower tap on, no temperature choice it’s free range. There was 1 PowerPoint between 10 people in the bedroom, it’s a sauna in there. It’s also a maze, good luck finding your way after a drink.

Good place for a short stay. Yes it’s too noisy at night but what do you expect in the tourist part of the city ? In my point of view it’s a normal everywhere. Great and friendly personal and location as well. Close to the beach. Cleaning should be better but if you come for a short stay and spend all day outside you just do not pay attention for this. Thanks for hospitality guys!

This place is the worst hostel we have stayed at thus far. The whole thing is incredibly sketchy from the front door to the room. There is no enforcement of quiet hours whatsoever. The first night we were here there were 3 random people who weren't suppose to be in the room at all just crashed in the beds, cause enormous amounts of noise at nearly 4 am. They put out a breakfast but fail to tell you or even put signs up to say that it cost 5€! Literally all it was was toast and juice. Not worth any money let alone 5€, but since we didn't know, we were forced to pay. When we checked in, first off the receptionist was rude and extremely sarcastic for no reason. Second, were told that were in specific beds. Next night, a new person comes into the room at 1:30am (receptionist turns the lights with and talks loudly with no regards for the people inside sleeping) he promptly yells at us that we were in the wrong beds and forces us to mover our belongs to accommodate the other person when we were only sleeping where we were told to. The location of this place is no where near worth what you will have to out up through whole staying here, I have other friends at other Hostels. The longer walk or extra bus or metro ride is little trouble compared to the hassle of staying at the Ideal Hostel.

DO NOT STAY HERE- EXTREMELY DANGEROUS!!! Someone entered room WHILE WE WERE SLEEPING and stole backpack of electronics and valuables. We found our laptop in the bathroom trash can in the morning but everything else was taken. We were in a private room with the door locked and this occurred while we (2 female travelers) were asleep in the room, meaning it must have been a staff member that had key card access to the room. Very very terrifying experience and would not recommend for anyone to stay here as it is clearly unsafe due to staff. Thankful it was not worse/we were not physically harmed as we definitely could have been. Aside from this scarring experience, room and bathroom were very dirty. Stains on the one top sheet we were given, no towels, muck in public showers and shower door did not close. All in all, I truly cannot believe we PAID to stay here. I would give this hostel negative stars if I could.

1.Enviroment is really bad. I don'y have any place to hang my coat. All they offer are bed. sheet pillow and towl. (the bed is dirty) 2 charging place for 10 people. 2.The bathroom's light are broken so I need to go to another floor to take shower. 3. I wait for a long time to check in and they tell me they can not offer me my orginal room 4. My room card doesn't work 2 times in 5 days. 5.

The floor in the room is comparable to a construction site. The water didn't work, so the shared toilet smelled so bad that you almost had to vomit and you could also see the other guests' messes. After that, the smell didn't go away and the shared bathroom remained dirty. The sockets didn't work either. The price is way too high for such a hole. Even in prison it looks a thousand times nicer.

DO NOT STAY HERE. My family and I were here for 5 night end of July and beginning of August. Immediately upon checking in, I was concerned for our safety and the safety of or belongings. The door to our room has been visibly kicked in and you can see the inside of the room from the hallway. Don’t believe the fake pictures they have of the rooms, our room looks like a prison with each metal bed creaking and cracking as soon as somebody moves in their bed in the middle of the night. We had hot water for 2 of 5 days that we stayed. I hope you like freezing cold water for your showers, we told the staff but they didn’t care. Our “private” shower was visible by all the peeping Toms in the hall way. Every night at this hostel, people played loud music and smoked pot into 3-4am. When we told the staff about the noise and smoking violations they are rude and did nothing to help. Our room was hot and the decision was to choose between having the windows open to get air or inhaling marijuana smoke. I also spent most nights there sleeping with one eye open since I was concerned one the the drunkards in the room next door will climb into our room through the adjoining balcony. I have stayed at many hostels and this place is by far the worst hostel I have been to by a long shot. If you are thinking about booking this place, I would suggest you to spend a little more money or else you will regret it.

The hostel is not good at all. My friend and I stayed there for 4 days in a room with 5 bunk beds (10 people in the room). There was only 1 socket inside of the room, so most of us had to go downstairs to charge our mobile phones. There wasn't individual luminary for each bed, and the showers did not warm up properly. The only advantage is its location as it is pretty close to metro stations and bus stops. The neighbourhood is actually great.

I accidently booked the wrong hostel, within 10min I cancelled my reservation. There was no empathy and no humanity from the customerservice. Make sure u really want to stay here otherwise u will loose 121euros just like me. Thank you Ideal Youth Hostel for the little compassion that u could squeeze out.

Unclear entry point and filthy tiny bathrooms and showers. There was a macadamia nut in the sink, and no soap or toilet paper in any stall. There was only one power outlet for a 10 bed room. The beds were loud, and moved any time either you or the other person (above or below you) moved. It does have a good location in the city but unfortunately this also makes it quite loud.

Not as bad as other reviews would lead you to believe, it is definitely the bare minimum but it has been clean. Only negative would be only two plug sockets in a 10 bed room but you can get an extension from reception. Great location for tourists.

Good location. Very hard to find, was lost for 30 minutes before finding. Small rooms. Stupid rules, the employee yelled at us for being too loud. It was only 11PM.

Great location in the heart of Barcelona... where #SustainaClaus stayed while in this ramos city... The gamers factory decor might put some people off, but the space is quiet in spite of being right next to all the action downtown. Rooms and toilets are clean and well kept, the elevator works, friendly accommodating staff, there’s a clean “industrial” kitchen where you can cook up a great meal with local ingredients. Very good value in the heart of Barcelona_\!/

If you are tall ask for beds on top of the bunked, usually pair. Clean and nice, in the center of everything so outside is very noisy, If you are a light sleeper. In the place social areas are away from dorms which is fantastic

The reception are very welcome and friendly. But it is close to the market, so it is a little noisy.

Located right at the heart of the city. The staff is very friendly and there is a fully functional kitchen for cooking. The ambience is old industrial style which gives a nice cool atmosphere. There is WiFi in the lobby area. The staff is particularly nice and take that extra step to make you feel comfortable. They also give great advise of what to visit and where to get things you are looking for. The place has a storage facility to leave your suitcases in case you are traveling. The place also has dedicated lockers to leave your valuables.

Just stayed at IYH for the last 4 days and we were really pleasantly surprised. Did not expect much for the price but was actually quite comfortable. Really clean. Mattress is a bit flat but fine to have a sleep. Nice common room and no curfew. Always someone on the desk and actually quite a nice shower albeit small. Would stay here again if on a budget

Very nice hostel with very good prices. Reception was very helpful and attentive and assisted very helpfully to my every need. Has a nice rooftop as well. Has a kitchen and game room as well. Steps away from grocery stores and the main streets of the Ramblas.

Great location, cordial staff (sometimes short on words due to amount of check in traffic and demands). The hostel itself is equipped with just about everything you need to make your trip comfy and a bit more affordable. The public space is largely left to the public to keep clean. Like with many other hostels in the world, much of the experience is due to the varied occupants of the rooms, rather than the staff or hostel itself. The rooms are cleaned every day, with fresh disinfected sheets. I found the staff both helpful and patient. My favorite times were working in the night (as i work off hours). The night staff were very polite and accommodating. Karan especially was rememberable as he offered me conversation and shared his experiences and views with me, when traveling this can be a lifesaver :) negative: the showers are small for a tall person like me.

Good location, generally very helpful staff and tidy rooms. Key card lock on door was unfortunately not working, and the bathrooms are a little cramped. Besides that, it’s a good place if you are looking for the basics close to town.

I have never experienced such a terrible hostel like this. There is nothing ‘ideal’ as the name of it. It could be my mistake when I booked a single bed in shared room but turned out it’s a bed in dormitory and the worst that is not all female beds. The bunk bed quality is low, whenever you turn around, it will be shaken. I barely can sleep at night because it was extremely noisy at night time, people keep chatting, screaming and fighting until 4-5am. I have booked for 2 nights but checked out immediately after 1st night there. The location is central and the staffs were trying to help but it was weekend time so it’s fully booked, however, this place is causing mental as nobody can sleep at night due to the noise. I really feel sorry for those who have to stay there more than a night.

Amazing place to stay in Barcelona. Very hospitable staff, they would also help in booking tours and guide you to the best places .Clean rooms and great service. In this price, you won't get a better place to stay in Barcelona. In the city centre, which makes it very convenient to go at the nearby spots. You'll have a great time here.

One of the best options for budget travelling, the location is ideal ,it is almost in the heart of the city, 3 minutes walk from the metro station. Very friendly staff! You feel at home as soon as you enter the hostel. The only thing that needs to be improved is the condition of bunkers and mattresses. Rest is good.

Really terrible receptionist with a terrible attitude. Literally harassing me to leave the hostel before I checked in and after I checked out. Threatened to call the police on me for being inside the hostel before check in- I laughed because it was ridiculous and she told me that if I laugh one more time she’ll cancel my reservation and call the police. She called me stupid, and told me I’m “on the blacklist.” I don’t ever want to come back here, so I don’t care. I hope she can find some love in her life, because it’s hard when you’re unattractive and rude. Also- dirty floors and lack of organization in booking, so multiple families came to check my dorm room late at night. If you can find another hostel for a few euros more, it’s worth it.

The location was very good, right in center of Barcelona , price was very convenient and to make it complete the staff was friendly , helpful and efficient not to mention the overall cleanliness. I would like to mention that the hostel is equipped with a fully functional kitchen. Great experience definitely ill be coming back.👌👌

I was looking for a room for me and my family, with prívate bathroom. And for a stay of 1 month. This was the cheapest hostel we found. And we are very satisfied. This because of the private bathroom, because the staff is friendly and very helpful and the hostel is in a good neighbourhood. Just booked for another month.
