I stayed in this hostel with my group of friends, there were 8 of us. I booked on Airbnb. Let's start from the beginning: Once the reservation was made, the host immediately contacted us and answered all our questions with kindness. The first problem arose when we arrived at the hostel, as specified in the announcement we would have had to pay the required amount for the city tax, but we were not allowed to pay by credit card. This was not communicated, we did not have much cash and above all it was our right to pay as we preferred, in any case we paid as requested by the reception and we went on. We are then shown our room, at first nothing strange, except that it was smaller than the one shown in the photos and above all without the terrace (also clearly shown in the photo and in the description of the ad). We immediately went to ask for explanations and we were told that in reality this was another room and that although we were right they could not move us because the room was already occupied (we had booked months before). So this was a real rip-off, since we had paid a sum that also took this aspect into consideration. We must also take into account that sheets and towels are not included in the price, which seems to us really absurd, also because upon our arrival they were pulled out of the drawers under the bed. Worst of all, they were mostly dirty and stained. In the bathrooms, however, the sliding doors of the showers were all broken. A very unpleasant episode happened to me one night, when I opened the toilet door a huge cockroach popped up from under the toilet, it's no exaggeration when I say it was really one of the biggest I've ever had to deal with. Another thing that left us really disappointed was the kitchen, the specific announcement that it is "fully equipped", when in fact there were no paper napkins, there were less than a dozen glasses and a total of 6 forks , this should have been enough for around 25 guests. I give 2 stars because the staff was always friendly and helpful, the rooms were cleaned, and the place where the hostel was located was just a few minutes from the center. Overall my advice is to avoid staying here, at this price you will find many others in Barcelona, be careful not to be fooled by the photos.

Be ready to be charged extra for things like bed sheets and locks! The other thing to note is the hostel seems to charge more for the city tax, this is disgusting and you should feel ashamed. Have a look on the internet beforehand for the correct city tax charge and question the charge when you check in! My 8 bed dorm had one large window which was on a busy road so couldn't really have it open, this meant the room was uncomfortable. Small kitchen and did not really have a common room to relax in during the evenings.. During my stay the hostel had many older guests (40+) so when I stayed there wasn't really much of a good hostel vibe, instead a strange one. I'm not saying its always like this but be warned it could be the same. The only positive has to be the location and a nice helpful man working on the reception. Can't remember his name but he seemed to sound like he was from the US or Canada.

Liked · Staff is fine. Room is big. Location is fine too. Curtains were there so there was privacy Disliked · You will have to ring the bell every time to enter the building and hostel. You have to pay extra even for blanket. They just give you bed with mattress that's it, for bedsheet , pillow and blanket you have to pay. its only 2 euro but still you have to pay. In shower the door is glass door that means people can see you. So that was uncomfortable for me.

The hostel was really amazing. The rooms were clean. The kitchen and bathroom had all the utilities. The staff was polite and helpful. I would definitely recommend it. Many tourist attractions are nearby and plenty of food options in the area.

The location is great! Super close to public transport and it’s in a really lovely bustling but pretty quiet neighbourhood. I really liked the cleanliness of the place as the dorms, bathrooms and kitchen are cleaned regularly and very well. I also really like how they regulate the airconditioning so the temperature was always perfect. The only minuses about this hostel were that there is not really a nice common space to chill. The kitchen is quite small and there is no other area where you can just go and relax, so you end up having to go and lay in your bed. So if you are looking for a hostel where you can just sleep and not socialise or spend as much time it’s perfect! I also thought that there was not really a nice/social hostel vibe among the travellers there, and unfortunately i had to deal with a few solo male traveller that were quite insisting with making conversation etc. and made me feel a bit uncomfortable, but maybe i was just unlucky :)

This place is not good for peace and quiet only as a place to be close to things. The the rooms are all crowded and needs are not so comfortable. Cleaners come in early and just ughh. I would seriously recommend checking out other places. The receptionists are all nice people but the noise and poor quality of your stay and sleep after going out because of all the echoes and noise are really, truly NOT worth it.

This place is arguably the most poorly run thing I’ve ever encountered. The staff are clueless and sometimes rude. They will randomly switch your beds throughout your stay. Check in was a disaster. Gave them some credit for being clean and a good location.

Good for the price! Nice beds with curtains and big lockable drawer, good bathrooms and kitchen. Perfect location. You can leave your luggage with them after checkout for free, but you have to pay for bed linen, towel and lockpads (but you can bring your own stuff). There is a Lidl 5 minutes away. They charge a tax if you pay by card. They don’t serve breakfast and the bedroom can get a little too warm.

A solid place to stay in Barcelona, not far from the beach and great location in the city. The hostel had people cleaning the bathroom which were decently kept. As a group of 10 students traveling it was a good place to stay.

This place was great for us, clean and on a great location, no traffic noise where you can't sleep, but exactly the opposite. Would recommend:)

Awful customer care. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone (About your answer, we have been speaking for the last 2 days. For this reason I’m commenting about the customer care)

Plus: room is clean, AC is ok during the hot season, kitchen is well equiped. Minus: high price. There is only one toilet for the whole hostel. Sometimes I had to stand in a line and wait quite long to get in! My room is not sound proof, I could hear everything from the reception, and vehicles from the street, could not sleep at all. I had to buy ear plugs otherwise I would stay up the whole night. Not reccommended for noise-sensitive people.

Booked a room online, selected the correct dates and arrival time. However, the receipt had completely wrong dates, and the price was immediately charged from my card. Upon contacting the staff about the issue, they refused any compensation. I told them I would accept a dorm instead of a room for example, but they refused to make any compromise, even though the issue was their booking system. Not going to make the mistake of booking a room there again.

I would not recommend this place. I developed a severe case of athlete’s foot within the first two days here. All the showers drained slowly, so even though I wore sandals, my feet were submerged in the water. The women’s shower/toilets room constantly felt like a hot humid sauna since it never seemed to fully air out. I talked to another guest with the same complaint. I checked out early and explained my situation to see about even a partial refund on remaining nights. I was told they clean/disinfect and it was “impossible” that I got it from there - that I probably got it from the beach or somewhere else. I will give them credit that I saw the cleaning lady there, but it doesn’t stay disinfected by the time multiple other people have taken showers and soaked their feet in there before I get in. It is true that I can’t ever know with certainty this is where I got it, but I’ve been exercising standard precautions and hygiene during my travels and didn’t visit the beach, submerge my feet elsewhere, etc. Given the conditions, I found management to be callous to completely rule out the possibility and go the “too bad so sad” route. Also, it was irresponsible for them to write me off since I was absolutely a risk of infecting other people. I will say though all the receptionists were friendly and nice, which is why I’m giving two stars instead of one.

It's kind of small place, but super well located, super comfortable bed. Has lockers in the bottom, toilette are comfy and clean. Doesn't have ma y common spaces and the kitchen it's super small, they charge you for bed sheets and printings. Still is super good value for money

Hip karma hostel is the nice hostel for backpacker. Their dorms is quite spacious and good. I really liked the hostel. It's not very far from bus station and Arc de Triumph is very close to this place. Staff is quite helpful and nice. Nice place to stay for backpacker. Even in dorm they have balcony and it is nice to sit there in sunny weather.

I stayed for two nights. One of the staff members was not very friendly - running the hostel with an iron fist but not very helpful really. They advertise free lockers, but you need to get a 6 EUR padlock from the hostel, so not really free ay? Laundry service is 15 EUR!!! Beware of hidden costs for bed linen and towels. Location is good but gets noisy.

Small and clean hostel with friendly staff. The walls are very thin and there is only one shared bathroom for several rooms, one for men, one for women. But if you're smart, you could avoid the "rush hours" in order to have your private time. The ventilation is not that good, especially in the morning when 5 other people had been sleeping in the same room with you for hours... I wish they could change that. You also need to pay for bedsheets and a lock for your drawer. It's best if you just bring your own towel and lock. Other than that, there is fast WiFi and the location is pretty central! If you wanna come there for sleeping and showering, it's a decent place. I'm pretty surprised.

Very 70’s style, the building itself is very cool, located in the heart of the city so everything is around, it has this cozy vibe, spent there a week almost and had absolutely a blast, one down side is that the toilets are far from the rooms so you might have to do some running here and there… highly recommended, you surely won’t regret it!

Very clean and spacious. The kitchen was well equiped. The room was cozy and comfortable! I didn't want to leave the place! The location is also close to the center and everything is easy to reach by foot, I didn't have to buy a metro card during my six-day stay. I was expecting a hostel, so I was a little bit confused when I got there and there was no reception. The sign in the building's hallway needs to be updated. I advise (or remind) future visitors to call them advance so you don't end up waiting in front of the doors like me.
