Clean rooms, good breakfast in general and friendly staff. Great location in the middle of La Rambla. Wished to also have vegetable options (except for small pieces of tomato in own sauce) for breakfast. Can be noisy from the windows facing the main street and from clients staying in the neighboring rooms.

I had such a great short stay in this hostal. The receptionist help me to get a room quickly, since I just came and ask for one. The location of the hostal is very nice, because it is in the center. The best thing for me was the fantastic breakfast that was prepared every day. I enjoyed it so much, the food choice was excellent. Will love to come again for sure. Mario from room 107. This hotel was perfectly located on the Ramblas but with high-quality windows and air conditioning, you hardly noticed the noise. Oh and in case noise is an issue, they offer in-room music which we found pleasing when getting ready for our day. We were impressed with the included breakfast buffet in terms of selection and quality, welcome offering, and eco-friendly approach as well as the humanitarian outreach of the hotel’s management. We would absolutely recommend it and would stay here again when in Barcelona.

Great location, beautiful view from the balcony. The beds are comfy and I really liked the shower. Hotel is clean and friendly staff. The breakfast was absolutely delicious. Did not expect this for this location. Really love the ecological cleaning concept.

Cute little hotel just off La Ramblas, with a view over that amazing street from the dining room. Simple bedroom with balcony and ensuite. Comfortable and cosy. Price was fine for all this. Very friendly and welcoming and helpful staff made our stay really enjoyable. So much to do within walking or metro distance. The weather in October was superb (early 20s, shorts and T-shirt weather). Will be back to Barcelona soon ❤️

Stayed there for a night after our cruise. Awesome location. Staff is very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay and definitely would stay there again when we visit Barcelona.

The only good thing is that it is close to L3, and la Rambla. Not accessible with a wheel chair or baby buggy, the room smells, and you can hear people in the next room talking (and at night you hear something else ..) I wouldn’t recommend it

A walking distance to the town area where things are happening. Nice service and lovely breakfast if you include it to your reservation. A-bit pricy for that kind of room but in all it’s a decent place and not too bad.

Tiny room with tiny bathroom. Thin walls hearing other people in other rooms. This hotel is located on the 1st floor of a bldg which includes going up a 28 step (normally 14 steps/flr in US) winding cement staircase (see photos) to access from the G (ground) floor hall entry. It even includes in the Hotel Facility Accessibility Description: “Elevator” for handicap even including a wheel chair photo. All Guests are required to manually lift their own individual suitcases up a 28 step spiral cement staircase to get to their 1st floor Check In desk. If you are traveling with heavy luggages (ie: 50lbs each allowance for airline), you will be expected to walk up your suitcases to the 1st floor where a tiny elevator is located to get from Flr # 1-4. Their is no porter service. While the hotel discloses that an elevator is available from the 1st floor. It does not disclose that there are 28 steps spiral stairs for the guest to climb up to get to the 1st floor. Their are over 70 photos provided by the hotel to show their rooms & facilities. However, no photos of the stairs? This false advertisement of “Handicap” accessibility is illegal and should be flagged by Travel websites.

I made reservations for this hotel prior to COVID pandemic starting early 2020, and have asked for a refund as soon as there was a lockdown. They said they would give me a year extension to my reservation to use even though I said that with the way things are I wont probably be able to go. A year later they extended it through summer of 2022. With the increase in cases, health concerns, and continued restrictions, I wont be able to go to Barcelona this summer. I am dissapointed in the service they provide while every other stay I had in spain was able to provide me with a refund, including airlines, stays, activities, except this hotel facility.

Very good place for stay if you are looking for a comfortable hotel to stay in your trip in Barcelona. A good breakfast, a very clean room and the staff from the lady who clean to the front desk very kind and gentle.

We stayed at the hostel for 9 nights, the reception people were amazing always so nice and willing to help and advise. Good at breakfast very tasty. Definitely recommend!

Staff is great and breakfast is awesome, well worth the price. Location is a good as it gets for a touristic visit although can get noisy at night, which is expected.

Very friendly staff, super small room but great location. Be careful or strangers as reception is on second floor and you can be mugged going up.

Positives: central location, just outside metro station. Ok breakfast, friendly staff Negatives: booked through Agoda that recommended it as family friendly. What a joke.The location is central but not exactly the safest. The room was tiny, no space for the stroller or even us. NO elevator so I had to carry it up the stairs! The sink was leaking so the tiny room felt so humid with small flies flying around. The shower sink was static so we couldn't wash the baby, the water was coming either too hot or too cold in waves! It was 2 stars so we weren't expecting miracles but wasn't cheap either so we are really dissapointed.

I would rate the room itself more with 3* simply because the walls are thin and you can hear everything through them from the other rooms. Staff is extremely kind and helpful! Definitely 5*. Location is great, 5*. Cleanliness - for me it wasn't the best. There were some hair in the bathroom and on the bed sheet were some stains. It might be something which can't be washed away but anyway it's not a nice feeling to see white sheet with strange stains. 2-3* Value for money - 5*

I stayed here 28th June 2019 it is not on street level 2 narrow flights of stairs to lobby which WAS NOT DISCLOSED ON THEIR WEBSITE but i was ASSURED that they would up load my suitcases, this did not happen the guy on Reception totally REFUSED to do it even though I was ASSURED by email before arriving someone would as I'm elderly, didn't happen, so if you have luggage don't stay here also no wardrobes at all in room just 2 beds no where to put any clothes at all had to stay in my suitcase I only stayed 1 night thank god, typically a back packers type of place, in the end we had to pay someone to carry our luggage upstairs, very bad I just want to WARN others looking at this hostel so the same does not happen to them !!! WORST PLACE I HAVE EVER STAYED IN !!!

Very nice hostal with bathrooms in each room. Rooms are very different between them. We had a double twin bed room and a single larger double/ queen bed room. The double had more storage and a bathroom with a door and separate shower area. The single had an all in one shower/ toilet/ sink area behind a glass only door in a corner. Both had balconies you could walk out onto. Breakfast was included and was nice. Daily service and everyone was really friendly. Close to so much and within easy walking distance of many restaurants, shops, and attractions. Definitely recommend! Book in advance because it seems to stay very full.

I like their eco-friendly systems! Hearty breakfast spread and great view of La Rambla from the breakfast room (I included a pic of the view). Friendly service. Giving 4/5 due to the tiny space in the room and the stairs to be climbed to access the reception desk from street level (I saw a kid and a lady carrying huge luggage up the stairs, with great effort)- won’t be good experiences for everyone.

Small and cozy rooms. Perfect for a couple with a grand view of La Rambla street. Amazing breakfast. I would definitely recommend anyone who wants to get a cheap and clean room. The service was lovely.

I stayed at Hostal Mare Nostrum when I went to visit Barcelona (even Spain itself) for the first time, and had mixed feelings. The staff were really friendly, helpful and professional at all times whenever I encountered them around the building. The breakfast room was well maintained, a good selection of options from cereals to croissants, and hot/cold drinks. Plus a cosy atmosphere and a lovely view from the window of La Rambla street. A very good location with all the shops outside, and access to the metro. However, I was slightly disappointed with the room. The lack of space was an annoyance) and especially without a wardrobe to hang clothes which of course led to piling all the clothes into open shelves. I was absolutely unimpressed with the shower, as the doors did not shield the water from going underneath. Which then led to a very wet floor in the main room, and then had to use plenty of towels to clean the mess. However, I must say the beds were clean and comfortable.

I was supposed to travel in May of 2020. My flights were cancelled and the whole country was locked down. Most hotels were closed for service, including this one. The hotel refused to give me back my money. It is a year later and they are still holding on to my money for nothing in return. Literally thieves. Do not book here. They clearly do not care about their customers.
