The receptionists have been friendly and when I asked for our garbage to be removed they did it that day. The sheets and towels were refreshed on our 5th of an 8 night stay. Three of us booked two double rooms. We paid $1521 total. Unfortunately we found BEDBUGS on the 5th day with new sheet change, not great. We sprayed and plastic bagged our belongings to travel home but somehow the critter made it back to Paris. I’ve thrown away my small suitcase and washed my clothes at 90’C. My friend carried unknowingly 2 bedbug back to Paris and the exterminator, bedbug dog and freezing of her experience clothes all costed 1400 euro to sort out 😢 It’s basic yes. Body wash and shampoo included. The usb power socket doesn’t work and couldn’t figure out the safe. The TV channels are all Spanish. There’s a fridge, modern hanging rack and shelf, with matching table, and side tables. The aircon worked. We didn’t try the breakfast. Our view out was probably on the best side, although a it’s noisy but that’s La Rambla. It’s loud all day. So bring earplugs!! All in all I’d say this is a budget but decent Hostal, IF it weren’t for the bedbugs. I’ve included photos.

Even for a central location, this hostel leaves much to be desired. No warning of renovations when booking, which started daily at 8am... Thin walls which allowed you to hear everything from neighbors. We paid extra for a room with a private toilet and shower which were both disgusting (we stayed on the 4th floor so I assume they have not yet been renovated as we had a massive crack from one side of the wall to the other) - toilet seats were stained yellow, aircon was basically a fan, TV had almost no channels working (not to mention you pay a deposit for the remotes for the aircon and TV) and lastly the reception was rather impolite. Wireless didn't work in our room at all. I really do not recommend this place - rather book out of center and travel by foot to where you need to be or metro as it is close enough.

Restless sleep: walls were really thin so that we could hear all conversation outside the room by people walking by or standing and talking in the hall, closing and opening doors. Sounds also leaked in via the balcony sliding door which did not close properly for sounds purposes (it locked but there was a slight gap) which meant all conversation in the street, vehicles driving last and people walking past could be heard and given the location this was non-stop.Furthermore, if you can sleep through the sound issues the other problem was it itchy legs - not sure what caused this but the ugly red bumps appeared only on areas where we were covered by the sheet. I read a previous review of someone having had bed bugs so could have been this as our windows were closed during our stay. Bed was also creaky and noisy, even just rolling over caused noise. Safe: we wanted to make use of the safe in our private room but couldn't get it to work so when we asked they advised that we could get the combination from them for a 10euro deposit fee en then 4 euros per day of use which seemed silly. Hairdryer: There is one but it doesn't work. Dirty walls and floor: questionable marks on the wall that could use a scrub. Looks really gross. Under the headboard it looked like dry blood but could have been something else that was red. Floors were also not properly sweeped when we came into our room and it did not look or feel clean. I could feel through my socks walking on the floor it had not been sweeped. Positives: Great location as it is central to all the places we wanted to see on a short weekend. Staff were really nice and helpful. Bedding looked to be clean. Shower/bathroom area looked clean. There is a tiny fridge to keep water cold. Internet connection was not too bad. Public transport stops just across the street (train and bus).

New interior, neat , clean, close to metro and all attractions. However the airconditioner did not work, the front desk staff showed no interest in trying to fix the problem or provide a fan. There was no remote for the television . Very noisy at night and even worse as a result of having to leave doors open for cool air. I would not stay here again.

Bed bugs alert‼️ For those people planning to stay here, just don’t unless you are okay with bringing home bedbugs as a souvenir from your trip. This was the worst hotel i have ever stayed in so far. The location is excellent and the staff is friendly, however the room is bedbug infested. I totally regretted staying here. We payed 260+ € for two nights at room 305 for us to become a dinner for bedbugs. We also found a bedbug with us at the airport. It was a terrible experience and I hope no one will have to go through the same. Just save yourself the trouble and pay for a better hotel. It is more expensive to pay for pest control anyway.

We didn’t felt safe; from the room to the streets is not big security especially if the entrance it’s right on the La Rambla street (full also of pickpockets) like anybody could try to walk and enter without being notice. About the cleaning measure wasn’t also the best, we had to keep for few days the same towels and on the floor was full of ants...
