I strongly disagree with several other reviewers here. If you love ancient history this is well worth the walk. You should also find a shady spot to stand and stare and imagine what this place looked like back in the early Roman era. Close your eyes for a moment and imagine everything surrounding these walls before you in Barcelona is gone. This was the very edge of civilization, within these walls was security if you were a Roman citizen or sought to be. There would have been nothing beyond them like what you see now, at least in the earliest days of the walls. All outside would probably have been farms and fields for the most part. I also both agree and disagree about how this is difficult to find. If you are on the trail looking for sites from this era it can be a challenge because there is so much medieval and later in terms of architecture, history and art surrounding you. At the same time, these later era additions draw the attention of many and can makes these rare little openings to the distant past less thronged by tourists.

Remains of the old Roman wall next to the Barcelona cathedral are not the main star of this neighborhood, the cathedral is, but they are very well preserved and for those interested in ancient architecture they are very well worth visiting if only for a short while. There is an explanation of what one is looking at, and in English too, which is rather convenient

The site was protected by a fence and was converted into Frederic Marés' square, accessible from nº 16 of the c / de la Palla, from which the remains can be seen.
