Caj Chai is a unique and wonderful little gourmet tea house in the heart of Barcelona. You’ll enjoy the great menu that features a wide variety of quality teas from around the world, a very friendly and helpful staff, and hip, laid back atmosphere at Caj Chai.

This is the best tea house in Spain and one of the best in Europe, hands down. I have visited the top tea shops in Paris and other countries and Čaj Chai, in regards to the quality of their teas is definitely superior. The teas that they sell are in many cases certified organic, with an amazing quality and from reputable producers. The owner really knows about tea offering even amazing workshops such as pairing tea and chocolates and he is directly connected with top notch producers and merchants inside the tea community. Also they sell beautiful tea pots and other items.

The perfect way to catch a brief moment of serenity before delving back into the city life. Caj Chai offers knowledgeable, friendly insight into the world of fine teas. You will be well advised with the choice and preparation of each unique tea, which is lovingly served in unique pots and bowls. The atmosphere alone channels serenity, with oriental music and a fine aroma throughout. Chinese calligraphy lines the walls, as do boxes and boxes of tea varieties. As a sweet companion to your tea, there are artisanal pastries from Arabic and Ayurvedic recipes. The gluten-free chickpea pistachio was a delicious take on a halva.

I drink green tea daily! So when travelling I usually look out for good tea places. This is a great one. The lady working there endorsed me a great sencha and we had a great talk as well. The tea was served ina sencha-do so you can do several infusions. Excellent tea and company.

Without exaggeration, one of the best tea houses in all of Europe. Great choice of teas both cheap (but still good) and exquisite, coming with water of just the right temperature and instructions on how to steep. The snacks are also great, the staff is nice, helpful and knowledgeable, and it is situated in a nice little square in the beautiful old town. 10/10, what's not to like?

One of the best tea cafes I have visited in Barcelona. They have a huge collection of tea. You can even get lost in their menu. They have very interesting cake too. I got Ding Dong and my friend got a cold ice tea. They made a nice mix with coco and basili for the ice tea. Staff is friendly and our waiter Isaac was awesome. Thank you.

Absolutely delicious tea in the middle of the old Jewish quarter. So many options, such a great vibe instead to just chill and sip tea.. They even have lots of savory sweets and snacks. Staff is very pleasant to interact with and service was great. Would highly recommend stopping here to rest and rejuvenate on your walk through the Gothic quarter.

I recently visited a cozy tea house that offered a wide selection of teas. I opted for the Chai, which was both spicy (not chilly!) and warming, making it a perfect choice on a chilly day. The atmosphere in the tea house was inviting, with the intense aroma of various teas and infusions. I also enjoyed some small pastries, which complemented the tea nicely. Overall, it was a pleasant experience, and I look forward to returning to explore more of their tea options.

We came in on our last day in Barcelona looking for a rest and refreshment! We found a very tranquil atmosphere with a very knowledgeable Isaac ready to talk all things tea. Isaac made us feel very welcome and we were astonished by his passion for tea and by how much he knew. He helped us all pick a tea suited to what we were looking for and the suggestions were all spot on. We loved our time here and would recommend it to anyone looking for a spot of peace in busy Barcelona! Thank you Isaac!

Amazing tea in a wonderfully cozy and beautiful space that just smells like tea. The walls are of stone and the seats and tables are a wood that makes everything feel very traditional. They have a wide range of desserts from matcha sesame cookie to daifuku and all of them are delicious! I got the matcha ceremonial grade and gold medalist and both of them are really good and earthy! I recomend the traditional teas the most.

Very calm and relaxing tea shop in middle of amazing gothic architecture. If you love tea, you will go crazy with the number of tea collections they have. we didn’t like the experience. first of all we had to wait 20 minutes for them to take an order and then another 20 minutes to get the tea and the only thing they had to do was put tea leaves in the tea pot. they didn’t even have to prepare the tea as they give you a thermos so you make your own tea, so what could possibly take so long? secondly, the girl had no idea about tea preparation. she told us we needed to wait only 30 seconds for the 1 cup of tea so the tea tasted nothing, we had to google how to make puerh correctly ourselves (which is 3-4 mins). customer service is non existent. also very noisy, no tea house atmosphere. 2 stars because the tea itself was good (although expensive).

A really cozy atmosphere, great variety of teas, in the middle of Gothic quarter, only 6 min from the metro station Jaume 1 (yellow line). Ideal for a rainy day, like the one today. Had a great time, ordered tea called something like Power Yoga, very nice, with some spice and oat milk, just a bit too sweet for my taste. Highly recommended, although a bit pricey for every day visits.

  • 5/5 Thao N. 3 years ago on Google
Very reasonably priced given the quality! This small artisan tea house in the Gothic quarter of Barcelona is world class and on par with the best specialty tea houses I have been to in Asia & Europe. The tea selection is vast, including rare wild or aged teas that I had not seen anywhere. Every single tea I have tried here has been of outstanding quality. The service is knowlegeable & each tea I had here was perfectly & expertly made. Being half Chinese half Vietnamese, I grew up drinking tea & always on the look out for authentic tea houses with teas of the highest quality. I was beyond thrilled to discover this tea house, so much so that I've joined their Caj Chai Tea Club too. So far the tea club selection each quarter has been excellent, & come with an online class on Youtube in English & Spanish where each tea is explained. I'm loving discovering new teas & learning about them. It should come at no surprise that organic, artisan teas of high quality, properly curated & stored aren't cheap, but this teahouse is doing a great job making them available at a reasonable price. Just to give you an idea, a cup of good tea at Maison de Trois Thes, a specialty teahouse in Paris, starts at about €20, while at Caj Chai it is approx €4, around 1/5 the price for comparable quality.

  • 3/5 Maria Fernanda M. 3 years ago on Google
Can't complain much about the chai, it had very strong species and that is always nice, my critique is that it was a bit too sweet for my taste. The bad thing about this place is the service, very rude guy. I got a chai to go and it was as if he were doing me a favor, it was kind of disappointing since I had such great expectations based on the reviews. Also, a bit pricey, 4.70 Euros for that cup

Really nice place we stumbled upon while walking around the Bari Gotic. It is situated on a small, cozy, quiet square. I definitely recommend visiting for an afternoon recharge get away. The menu is unique they serve a mixture of chai and cocoa with a lot of different herbs. Chai with cocoa was a first in my life but I will definitely try it again. Staff is really nice and gives you a great deal of explanation about each item in the menu.

The Best tea shop in Barcelona for sure. I bought good quality (and real) black tea leaves (ceylon and assam) at this shop. Chai is like a medicine and it cured my runny nose!

Great chai! The service is very good. I love the Choco chai, so much spices in there. I also had a very tasty vegan brownie. For my taste, the tea has too much sugar. I wish they had sugar free options.

Absolutely obnoxious! Being an Indian was craving for some Indian chai while visiting Barcelona. Came to this place yesterday close to closing time and they refused to serve which I could understand. Today we visited again and ordered two chai and was told we can’t sit inside since it’s only for two tea! They should be a bit welcoming to tourist. Avoid at any cost!
