LOVE this place and glad we found it! OK we went to a nearby spot we also really like and they were too busy so we walked back down to Salterio, which had caught our eye previously. And we're so glad we got the last table they had available! We dig this little place big time. It's really old, tiny, cozy and cute and kinda dark...the perfect spot to hang out and enjoy awesome food and some cava. We had the mixed salad with grilled mushrooms, apples and walnuts it was excellent. But the star of the show was the Sardo, a savory 'pie meets calzone' type of creation that we are hooked on. We had the 4 Seasons, with tomatoes, cheese, spinach, and mushrooms. There are 8 in total and we plan to try them all. Go!

One word: magical. This place is incredible, such a great vibe. They are around for about 30y so you can imagine.. they know what they are doing. The food is extremely delicious. A special thanks to Lucia that made our experience over the top. It was amazing. ♥️

Had the most serene experience here - I have never eaten at a restaurant that felt like a sanctuary. Get a Saldo and Tea and hide away from the busy streets outside.

UNIQUE ARAB FOOD! Salterio is situated in a small, dim-lit and cosy cavern in the Gothic quarter. Their signature dish is "sardo", a sort of Arab calzone: thin and crunchy bread with different fillings. We had the "four seasons", which consisted of spinach, mushrooms, tomato, sesame, tahini and cheese. It's really good, as is the "Arab bread with tomato", reminiscent of Bruschette. The weak spot on the menu is the salads, which are completely oversized (enough for a group of four) and almost tasteless (they're only dressed in tahini, no vinaigrette or salt). Moreover, we received the starters and the main dish almost at the same time, rather than one after the other. Notwithstanding, Salterio is a great Arab restaurant. To round off the meal, we highly recommend mint tea and baklava.

Lovely cozy place. Food is fresh and delicious. Typical tapas place in an alley of the beautiful Gothic Quarter, however they also serve "normal-sized" dished. We tried the red-wine sangria which was delicious, pan con tomate, which was different from what you usually find around the city (with actual diced tomatoes, sesame seeds and a sesame sauce on a crispy flatbread), tapas olives and a seasonal salad. Staff is attentive and friendly and so is the owner, they really love what they do and put a lot of care and attention into it. I also really enjoyed the style of the decor.

Salterio is a small and super cozy place hidden in a small alley right in the city center. The Turkish coffee and Moroccan mint tea are both very authentic as well as outstanding! Service is great and the people working there are always smiling. Great alternative to a bar as they're open until late considering it's a cafe.

(Translated by Google) It has been one of my favorite corners for years and it looks like it will continue to be. Small, nice and cozy place. The food and teas are brutal and the service of the employees is excellent, all very nice. The price is according to the site, that everything is 10. And there are vegan options for people who are interested. Of course, you have to go in good weather or with a reservation because the place is small and usually fills up quickly. P.S. PD. Recomiendo el sardo 4 estaciones :)

Salterio, blink and you'll miss it. I don't review stuff very often at all, but here in Barcelona I've been impressed by 2 establishments in 2 days. Quiet little tea room, with sangria, cakes and desserts amongst other things. Very atmospheric and hidden away. Easily missed.

Beautiful discovery while exploring Barcelona: the Salterio is very small but extremely cozy inside with an ancient Middle East Post. The service is friendly and the waiter always helpful with suggestions and explains dishes quite well in English, Spanish and French. The food is amazing: fresh, savory and made on the spot. Would love to visit once more and recommend!

Cosy and charming 'coffee' shop, but for 'coffee' you need to read 'tea room without table cloths'. Turkish and Moka coffee's and a large selection of teas, and fruit teas. Hidden away in a back Street, we were grateful to finds seats of a mid-week lunchtime - probably sits around 30. The subdued lighting make for a relaxed atmosphere.

Cozy vegetarian spot off the beaten path in the Gothic quarter. It is a little tight, but if you’re okay with that, this spot is a great spot to sit and relax! Be patient, you can see the waiters are cooking and serving as fast as they can. Delicious sangria, delicious salad and sardo, and tea!

Salterio was recommended to me by a friend otherwise I probably would not have found it in the old town. We ordered two different Sardos and they were both amazing. Full of lovely vegetables and very tasty. It was my only really good vegetarian meal in Barcelona. I also had half a litre of freshly made Sangria. This too was excellent. I had one of their special green teas with mint to finish. I would definitely visit here again when I am back in Barcelona. Fabulous food with friendly service. Recommend a visit.

Incredible little oasis in the bustling streets of the Gothic quarter. The Sardo is especially delicious, a kind of cheese pie made with a tortilla above and below the filling. Really delicious and reasonably priced. A definite highlight.

Spending some time in this hidden, charming place was one of our best experiences during Barcelona stay. Charismatic owner who prepares delicious food with passion and the waiter who welcomes you with smile and positive energy. What you need is just to sit down, have some time to enjoy the moment and in return you will drink aromatic Turkish coffee with cardamom and eat interesting combination of Mediterranean food. All the best for the entire crew, best regards from Cracow!:)

Best gastronomic experience that I had in Barcelona. We stumbled upon this place by the smell, and it exceeded our expectations. It was all prepared with time and love, and it was worth it ! We had the pesto and the champignon Sardos, with red sangria. It was divine! In the end we were recommended the turkish coffee by the amazing waiter, it was fantastic

Their Sardo dish is so good! It’s a dish you’ll never find anywhere else. The space inside is very small and cozy. The staff are so sweet 🥹. I went there few times and tried different teas every time. I was never disappointed. Might be difficult to find a table on a weekend night.

(Translated by Google) Horrible treatment of the waitress! It made us wait standing, to assess whether we sat at a table or bar, depending on whether we ate there or not. Appreciating overtaking a group that entered behind us without reservation, for money. (eat = more billing). He claimed that it was mealtime: from 5 pm to 8 pm .. And it was 4 pm. I raise a couple who was at the next table. They took their tea, served only 15 ', and told them, if you don't drink anything else I ask you to go to the bar. Mocking, he was dedicated only to being nice and human with a couple sitting at the bar, their friends. And as a last detail: he said only in cash. But we saw the dataphone. And he corrected: I do better in cash because I don't have much coverage. It is a beautiful teahouse, the delicious tea and the very endearing place. But this waitress cut the roll completely.

Place is nice, with good environment. The service is awful. Do not go there if you do not like to be forgotten, the waitress to serve first the friends of the place (e.g., friends of the waitress or friends of the barman), the waitress to never coming and get your order, and general do not go there if you like to be treated as a regular and decent client. Just pass by from outside, see the place, take some pictures, and then leave.

Like another reviewer said, it really is a hidden gem and we are very glad to have stumbled upon it in our crusade through Barcelonas random alleyways. The flair is super cozy, the staff super friendly and most of the time (we've been back 2 times already) you can strike a conversation with other patrons really easily. When it comes to food and drink we've had mulled wine, sangria and a few other red wines so far and some freshly made tomato bread. Everything was really good and we'll be sure to come again during our next stay in Barcelona.

Walked in here wanting a place to drink some tea, rest my feet and get away from the heat. This is indeed the place that fulfills those needs. As soon as you walk in, it feels very cozy, intimate and cool. It is not so well lit to preserve the feeling that u are in a cave. There is an English and Spanish menu that is very helpful. The people who work at the cafe are extremely nice. The service may be bit slow since there are only 2-3 staff forbthe entire place. This is a place to relax and where u can take your time and not be in a rush. The bathroom and sink are located in a side room that is very dark. However, there is a switch to turn on the light. The flush on the toilet doesn't work. You need to pull up on the tin can on top of the toilet tank to flush it. Don't let the restroom and toilet prevent you from visiting this cafe. It's a diamond in the rough...Just be aware, they don't accept credit cards..CASH ONLY!!

Superb. The best veggie-vegan place I have been to, so far. Absolutely beautifully tasting food, generous portions and very good service. But the food, the food... It's great. I am not vegetarian by the way. We had one bomba de la barceloneta and mezze platter to share, after that two mains, the green, oats risotto and lasagne. The house wine was pretty decent, honestly, I would have it a again next time.

Nice place. Super cold and uncomfortable chairs. We we waiting half an hour for the tea and 1 hour for one aubergine and two toasts with a fancy name. The owner didn't even aknowledge the fact we waited for so long. His only concern was if we could pay in cash. The food doesn't worth the wait or the prices.

Unique place that located the oldest building in Barcelona, really small and tiny with kind of OK food and amazing variety of different herbal tea. Come here for the new sort of experienced. At least visit it once or twice - better late at evening.
