We over estimated the place based on rating. It was a horrible experience, the churros were not as good as expected ( far from being the best in Barcelona), the crepa catalana was very basic, the coffee is discusting and the service was HORRIBLE. The waiter was the most disrespectful and arrogant ever. You have to call him 20 times before he comes, if you ask for the menu he keeps on dictating the menu and rushing you to pick anything. Everyone was shocked about how horrible the service was and it seems like it’s always been this way. Friendly advice : don’t waste your time here

We were lucky to find this gem tucked along a small alley. The thick viscous chocolate was awesome with the crispy churros. The staff (particularly the lady with long dark blond hair, sorry didn't catch her name) was extremely helpful when we asked for her recommendation for paella restaurant. Although she couldn't speak English, she did her very best to give directions to her favourite paella place! Greatly appreciated!!

Although the desserts were kinda average to good, but the service and hospitality was terrible. The lady who took my order was very short in words and when I asked about certain products availability she was answering in annoyed tone. On the other hand, the cheers were kinda good l, the cream-caramel with cream was good, and the hot chocolate with creams was super heavy. The place looks old and acquainted, they have various products like cheese, sandwiches and desserts. Overall experience was average, but probably won’t come again.

Their churro and dark chocolate brings so much joy to the taste buds. Please note that the dark chocolate is a lot more like a thick chocolatey pool of indulgence rather than a commonly known diluted chocolate / cacao drink! The fruit kefir is very beautiful and tasty as well. Fantastic breakfast place which I hope to come back to one day.

Based on the rating and the reviews I have read, I visited Granja M. Viader and expecting to try the best Crema catalana in Barcelona. The place was very authentic and full with tourists. I ordered crema catalana and their hot chocolate with cream. The crema catalana was not as I expected at all, it has a strong lemon taste. The taste is not bad, but also not too good as the ppl comments are saying. The hot chocolate with cream was okay, the cream is tasty but the chocolate is like melted pudding chocolate with a very light taste of chocolate.

Hands down to this place and next time in Barcelona you cannot miss to visit this lovely cafe. This place serves the best Churros & Hot Chocolate in the world. This is a cute little 125 years old patisserie in the narrow streets of Barcelona near La Rambla. The service is great. It is one of the most authentic & oldest place in Barcelona which serves Churros & other confectionery treats. It is always crowded so hard to find a seat most of the times. I also tried their cheesecake, it was fine. But absolutely the best churros I had while in Spain. Highly recommended!

The pastries (cheesecake and others) look good but are as average as it gets with regards to texture and taste The crema catalana is quite good, as are the churros even if both are pricey. I’d stay away from the cheesecake and other pastries and go for Churros and the Catalan cream if I was to come back. Glad I tried everything but most of it was disappointing (cakes and all that weren’t fresh on the day). If coming on a Saturday, show up at opening time (9) because even just 30 minutes later (as I am leaving), the place is packed and there is a long wait to enter.

A very old rustic place to have breakfast.. Sweet options.. While I use the word sweet, it isn't really too sweet.. Creme catalan, ensaymada, and dark chocolate deep at 11 euros.. Worth the trip..

Absolutely perfect atmosphere. Got the churros, lady fingers, hot chocolate. I think most places would make the mistake of making these dishes too sweet. But this place goes light on the sugar allowing it to be eaten for breakfast without it feeling like dessert

Stopped there on a Saturday morning for a quick "chocolate con churros" breakfast. Left after 4mn. Chocolate tasted very chemicals and worse churros I ever had: cold and chewy. Thanks but never more.

Granja M. Viader, origin of hot chocolat. But I ordered cold one, just because I want to drink sth cold LOL The whipped cream is soooo nice, I am a whipped cream lover, seriously. And the churros are the best one I’ve ever had!! Crunchy outside and tender inside, not greasy at all? Loveeee it!

(Translated by Google) I liked Viader’s farm and found everything I was looking for, except for the gingerbread they don’t make in the summer, because it spoils. I tasted the Cacaolat (after 25 years it may be) and the ensaimada. It’s been all ten. The price is not cheap but not exaggerated, it reminded me when I had a snack at the Café Gijón in Madrid: it is clear that you are not paying for the meal alone, it is much more.

I would recommend this place for being very authentic and one of the few left in Barcelona. The times I've been there, they have been very kind and quick to serve you. I would like highlight the chocolate with cream and the classic sandwitch. It is an emblematic place in Barcelona and will aways be. Another very important thing to note is that they are the creators of Cacaolat.

The first time I went here alone on a weekday, I loved the place, it's very cute and the chocolate and churros were good. However, the next time I took my friend, I found that the service was quite curt. Chocolate was also thicker (almost pudding-like) and much sweeter than the time before, which I didn't like as much. Quality and service experiences vary. We went at 8:30 pm one evening when the sign said it closed at 9:15 pm, and a waiter yelled at us that the place would be closing in 10 minutes, and wouldn't let us sit, so we left. The next day, we got there right at 5 pm when it opened again for the evening. The place wasn't even busy yet, but the waiter who we paid our bill to was very surly. The crema catalana we got was just okay, not memorable and the top crust was not crunchy but rather sticky. We left feeling taken aback by the attitude and underwhelmed by the food. There are plenty of other chocolate and churros places in Barcelona that I'd rather take a guest for warmer and more consistent service, and we had better churros and chocolate the next day at La Nena. This is also the only place I've been to in Barcelona which brings you the bill right with your food instead of after.

A historical place with amazing tasting churros. This place is very popular, so many people that you need to wait outside to someone leaves. It means not so much space at the tables and you cannot just sit here long. But the services is quick and good. I Will recommend to take the chokolate without cream.

We had two servings of delicious churros on a rainy Tuesday night. One serving contains 4 churros and cost about 1.80, which was very reasonable. The churros went perfectly with the dark hot chocolate, which was thick, not too sweet and full of chocolatey deliciousness. Husband got the special flavoured milk (I think it was called majorca milk), which was really delicious - I’ve never had anything like it. Really yummy and good value for money.

My absolute favourite spot in Barcelona to get churros. So simple, so delicious. Order churros with dark hot chocolate, the small one. If you are going in a group everyone can share the same cup to dunk the churros in. This is one of the few historical businesses left in the city having opened in 1870. Do yourself a favor and go visit!

  • 2/5 Design Inn H. 5 years ago on Google
We had our churros there . Only one aged waiter to serve everyone while we were there . Therefore he was very very impatient and frustrated I think. I think this restaurant is famous because of its history but not really on food . I found it was quite normal where you can eat almost the same taste of churros everywhere . But honestly , we just need to go there for once to see what’s historically restaurant . That’s all .

(Translated by Google) It is still a picturesque place but perhaps spoiled by the excess of tourism in the center of Barcelona. I ordered a sandwich with gluten free bread and a cut. Very expensive, the fatal bread and the sausage little. (Original) Sigue siendo un sitio pintoresco pero quizás estropeado por el exceso de turistismo del centro de Barcelona. I guess everyone has an expectation of what churros and chocolate should be so if you like thick chocolate for dipping which is not sweet (dark choc), and thick whipped cream on top, you’ll like theirs. Churros were a bit chewy— not the best but they’re good enough if you just want your churros fix. Came here on a weekday, 12ish, and it wasn’t crowded. Service was fast.

These days when I travel, I tend to look for restaurants and cafes with a character and history. Granja M Viader is definitely such a place. We picked the recommended items from the menu (chocolate drink with whipped cream and Crema Catalana) and also churros. To our palate, the whipped cream did not seem to mix well with the cold chocolate so maybe hot chocolate eith whipped cream will be a better choice. Churros and Crema Catalana were excellent. Some commented about the service but we were not sure what's the problem. Both the lady staff and elderly male staff worked efficiently even if they weren't making small talks with us.

This place was one of the main reasons for my returning to Barcelona during December. Their Bikini sandwich is incredible. Make sure not to miss the xiocolata ala tassa with cream completed with churos - think about double portion. The waiters were very friendly and enrich the experience.

Loved the old vibe of this place. Had the dark chocolate, xurros, goat yogurt. English menu was available.

I arrive, no one welcomes me. Even a waiter passed by me, I said Hola, he didn't even watch me nor answered. Then he came back and I said it's for "una persona" then I could seat. I ordered then he didn't put any effort in understanding and I showed clearly on the menu what I wanted but he was murmering idk what. They came back with ice cubes dunno why they didn't put it in my glass in the first place Finally, the price of churros was different and more expensive from the card. It was written 1.90€ but on the ticket it's 2.10€ Didn't wanna argue so I think I will just say nothing. Now I'm sitting finishing my limonata and looking forward to leave Looks like tourist like me aren't welcome but it's a touristic area. Or maybe because I'm not white skin... who knows. I see people next to me who are local being treated way better Never coming back here

The best churros and crema catalana in Barcelona. The tradition is 150 years old. It is not touristy although it is in the heart of Barcelona. Hidden gem and totally recommended.

It’s my second visit here over a few years. Previously as a first time tourist to such places, one would be willing to disregard or pay no attention to service and focus on the feel good experience. So it felt good then, to try their local hot chocolate and dining in a an old school restaurant. Not so pleasant this time round. We felt out of place and waiters paid no mind to us despite trying to get their attention. The female wait staff winced at us when my friend changed her order - another counter staff helped us order with her instead of confirming with us. Another older male wait staff just shrug us off whenever. Still, one can try it and also leave room for other places.

Very nice chocolate and they make their own whipped cream. The pastries did not look good and churros looks from frozen so we didnt try. The chocolate was great

It's a place you can always trust if you want to have breakfast before starting the day or a quick dessert break while passing through La Ramla. It has a history of more than 125 years. Since it has a touristic reputation, finding a table may be a problem during crowded periods. Closed Sunday and Monday, closed between 1:45 pm and 5:00 pm on other days. Even though they are very busy, their staff tries to be very helpful and does not bother. It has an extensive menu. Overall, no matter what you choose, you're likely to be satisfied. I say give it a try.

We came here for breakfast on our first day and we had such a lovely time. All the staff ladies are extremely warm and welcoming, they immediately made us feel comfortable. We came here between 9-10 am and got seated immediately, this is a popular spot so we were glad we got a table right away. Everything we ordered tasted unique, fresh and reasonable. This will be my first stop when I return to Barcelona. The chocolate + cream + churro combination was heavenly.

The hot chocolate is the best that I have ever tried! It pairs wonderfully with churros. Yet the blueberry cheesecake falls short of expectation. It is quite moist and the blueberry is not blended in the cheesecake.

Our friend took us there as part of a small tour in Barcelona, it should be the first churros place in Barcelona and maybe also in Spain. The place itself was nice, old style, a lot of 50+ years old people, we like it. The service was also good, you don't need to wait long. After our first order they brought also the bill with, which was interesting and nice. When we did a second order, they brought the bill again already with an updated number. I liked the idea. We ordered different things also churroses with hot chocolate and also cacaolat. The churros portions were small, only 4 pieces with a lot of sugar on it, the test also was not so good. The hot chocolate portion was so big we had to order the second churros.

Came here for the hot chocolate and was not disappointed! The very huge helping of whipped cream was decadent and delicious. The crema catalana was smooth and crispy. Loved the old school vibe of the place. Reminded me of one of the oldest churro shops in Mexico. Local and traditional.

This is a really local canteen place to have a quick breakfast or snacks! Always have so much love to their chocolate and churros here! The chocolate is soooooo rich, and it almost like a dip texture! Obviously, you can dip your churros in too! It is sweet, and at the same time, the aftertaste is also rich, and you may find it a bit bittersweet!

Had my first churro and chocolate at Granja Viader, the oldest spot for this combo in Barcelona. The warm milk, churro and creama catalan were great. The actual dark chocolate for dipping was not, at least not to my expectations of what a hot chocolate should be. It was thick but tasted and had the consistency of flour. Again, this was my first try and I did not like it. Will try another place and see it it's any better or maybe that's the style here.

Such a traditional and beautiful place, I loved the aesthetic. You can taste the quality of the dairy products, very original flavors and excellent churros. The prices were very good as well.
