Tried out the fresh catch of the day and it was a huge disappointment. The aged beef was good tho. Overall, the quality and dining experience were below average. There are a lot more places in the city we have had better dining experience and a much fuller stomach. Try it out yourself and prove us wrong ??

We loved this place. The food was amazing and considering how busy they were the staff were attentive and helpful. We had the special T-bone steak which was unbelievable, cooked to perfection and the potatoes they came with were tasty. We also had the stuffed dates which are my favourite thing I’ve eaten in Barcelona. The octopus was an unexpected dish that we absolutely loved. It was so delicious with the bacon potatoes and was fresh. A must try.

A must try for Catalonian and Asturian dining - this is also a fantastic place to sample a variety of vermouth. The oysters are in season and fresh right now, and I recommend trying the mushroom as well as tuna tartare bone marrow dish. The marrow dish is delicious and topped with bonito flakes - an umami symphony all in one bite! :)

In the end we came to feel we had the best seats in the house as we were able to interact with the chefs and staff real time. We all agreed it was the best sea bass we ever had... As our chef explained, very simple, you use fresh ingredients and a good fire! Which here they cook with a charcoal fired oven. Try the bone marrow, it's a fabulous combination of the land and sea. It's a small place but was quickly packed shortly after 8pm when the kitchen opens for dinner with people waiting at the door for a space. The place has a decent sized mainly seafood based menu. The octopus is a popular choice but we didn't go for it. We went for a variety of smaller dishes culminating in a whole sea bream. Everything was absolutely delicious and we were so stuffed by the end. I'd highly recommend El Chigre and I think this is one place where we'd return to.

El chigre is literally the best food we had in Barcelona. Servers were so friendly and even though they were busy they gave us wine and chatted until they sat us at the bar. We also had the anchovies which were great and then had the melon with cured meat which was not what we expected but it was still so yummy.
