COVID pretty much destroyed all fine dining in Barcelona. Places that didn't outright close took a steep dive in quality. Alkimia is the only exception I have found. Exquisite tasting menu, adjusted for me as a vegetarian. One of those meals where we just stopped talking and enjoyed the ride. World class.

Wanted to love this place. Service was pretty good. Some dishes just didn't hit the mark, wasn't a fan of the quality/taste of some. Presentation was great though. Worth trying once, but can be easily looked over for a more inexpensive restaurant.

A surprise but not necessarily a good one. We have eaten at great restaurants all over the world and we often take a chance in order to expand our culinary knowledge. We went for the tasting 11 course menu with wine pairing. The staff were attentive, overly so! They seemed to hover watching our every bite and sip. The Sommelier was very good explains clearly the wines provenance and the wines were in fact the highlight of our lunch. The ‘tasters’ were quite bland, if you put a tomatoes of any description in a dish make the flavour sing! The lamb was paraded in front of us in all its grilled magnificence but when I’d arrived the fat wasn’t rendered and the skin nor crispy as it should be. This restaurant is a clear case of style over substance. Jordi the chef has apparently 75,000 hours of cooking experience. In our experience he needs another 75,000!!…. Avoid!

Came here for lunch, mainly seafood in their seasonal menu but there was lamb leg too! Overall, very flavourful dishes and I understand the concept. Decent priced as well so very worth it!! A gem in BCN 🇪🇸 must try if you’re in the city.

Can't wait to come here again. The food was absolutely delicious, the portions were perfect and the decor was a magnificent contrast to the original decor of the place. There are two restaurants in the space, both share the same kitchen, different menus.

Lovely food in a very modern atmosphere. We did wine pairings, which is the way to go if there are only 2 of you. I didn't get a picture of the lamb two ways, but here is the Piston. The sauce was perfection. Presentation was amazing. The gnocchi were particularly delicious! We had a bit of difficulty getting in. It is on the second floor and they need to buy you in. We kept trying, but a nice passerby helped us get buzzed in. Get your Spanish phrase book ready to tell tl them you have reservations for dinner.

Appetizer and starter were super good and refreshing. Main courses are over seasoned. I was disappointed a bit given its entree were too salty for me.

An absolute must! The restaurant is actually on the 1st floor of an apartment building, so it feels like you are going to visit friends. The atmosphere is great and very cosy. The food is great! One of the dishes was named "Taste of the sea" and it really tasted like the sea - the breeze, the salt, the fish...absolutely amazing! Good wine selection and a very enjoyable evening. Will be coming again...and again...and again...Thank you for a fantastic time!

The restaurant interior is really nice. The food was just ok, it didn’t have the wow factor though. The service felt very rushed, this is the fastest set meal I’ve had in any Michelin restaurant. Ambiance: 4/5 Service: 3/5 Food: 4/5

It is not possible to leave here hungry, after 14 plates we were all stuffed. The fish, fowl, and pork were all fantastic.

Alkimia Restaurant is a gastronomic masterpiece in Barcelona! Every dish we savored was a work of art, beautifully plated and bursting with flavors. The attention to detail and innovative combinations showcased the chef's culinary genius. The attentive and knowledgeable staff guided us through a memorable dining experience. The elegant ambiance and warm hospitality added to the overall charm. Alkimia is a must-visit for anyone seeking a remarkable culinary journey and a true taste of Barcelona's culinary scene.

Fantastic tasting menu! Creative dishes that can’t be found anywhere else. We really enjoyed the atmosphere and the friendly, attentive service. The lobster was my favorite and the sea noodles were a close second.

A wonderful and very delicious degustation menu experience, with a wonderful progression of flavours, outstanding matching wines, and flawless service. The entrance is quite dramatic with a fabulous jelly fish light installation inside the stairwell as you walk up to the restaurant, which foreshadows the unique experience that awaits.

We had an incredible experience here. If you can, book and go. Have the wine pairing. Take photos. Enjoy it over and over again. The only thing I would change was the music. They played lots of songs we own and like but the combination really jarred. No one can be good at everything and I feel mentioning the music at a restaurant is like reviewing the beer at a gig but I really feel a less distracting combination of music would have added to the enjoyment of the meal. LCD Soundsystem, Nirvana, Dolly Parton and Nina Simone are all good but they create very different atmospheres.

Easily one of the best meals I’ve ever had. Each and every course was original, worth every penny, and interestingly delicious. The staff and space was welcoming and the chefs made sure each and every plate was on point.

We went for their lunch for my mums birthday. First impression is the interior and the design which is impressive almost tending to be a bit quirky, but I see what they’re trying to do in regards to creating the resemblance to a fish. The party of four all went for the large tasting menu with wine pairing. After having started with the best cava I’ve tasted. What was a draw back and also the reason I’m giving four stars is, that the food was tasty, interesting and beautifully crafted and served, the lack of something crunchy or with a bit more texture and “bite” so to speak, was lacking. In other words the wood was too “soft” to our taste, which there was a concensus about. It was an interesting experience with loads of tastes and good service, but for a 5* review at this price point from my view, something at the food and the texture was missing.

Was really excited about this place…but some of the dishes were inedible. Table next to us got up and left in disgust, so we weren’t the only ones. Service was also poor and we were rushed throughout the dinner. Sorry to say but something was way off…cool venue though.

Food delicious, dessert mind blowing! I've tried for the first time snails. Was a nice try. Taste god but the texture feels weird. But still very good prepared with tasty mushrooms. Slow food. You could watch on a screen how they prepare the plates. Service almost exclusive. There was a lot of space between table groups. Very comfortable to speak across the table. Atmosphere Gothic bohemian. I love the deco. For sure I will come back!

Ingredient quality was not the best in the city but still good, and cooking was decent. However service wise this might have been the worst among hundreds of Michelin starred restaurants we have been to. Pretentious and sometimes cocky, rude, inattentive service in a very loud environment.

Wow, just wow. The food was a heavenly experience and the wine pairing out of this world. The places it self is super cool. The service was top notch. This place is totally worth the price.

Wonderful showcase of Spanish food, wine & hospitality. Amazing fresh, light, subtle & thoroughly delicious cuisine; paired absolutely perfectly with European wines. Attentive, insightful & passionate waiters made for a memorable evening

The highlight of our visit to Barcelona so far has been the artistry from the kitchen and the attention to service at Alkimia. Pablo and others explained each dish along with the Catalan inspiration behind them. Bernard the Som patiently found us a terrific Spanish wine to match our taste to the menu. Perfect evening thanks to everyone. Best seat in the house alongside the kitchen. 💕.
