Excellent experience of migratory bird watching. Feeling like like birds those who flying out on blue sky. Migratory birds species are here over fifteen to twenty species but add native bird species it's forty to fifty. To observe, dawn is the best time. They are so beautiful. there are small boats for the purpose of observing birds, costs Rs 150/ hour (December 2022). A boat can carry four travellers. The boatmen act as guide, they know almost everything about the sanctuary and birds. There is a children park and picnic spot beside also. A pleasant place to visit in, specifically in winter.

A beautiful place to live. The location is just by the side of the lake and a few yeards from the boating point. The village women cook and serve the guest passionately. For booking follow the website. You have to pay online in advance. I transferred by NEFT.

Nice place in winter time specifically in December and January. All different migrated birds are coming different parts of the world specifically from Siberia. Even you can stay here and good accommodation is there near by. Great place for the wild life photographer. Would suggest to everyone to visit once and you will feel good.

These cottages are located very close to the Chupir Chor wetland which is the main attraction of the place. The rooms were more or less in good condition. However, the food was terrible. This place and the garden in front also function as a picnic spot. This is why it is very noisy, especially in the morning and afternoon. Picnickers will often disturb guests by knocking on the door of the cottage. The quiet tranquil charm of this place is destroyed by picnic parties playing loud music. Authorities need to look into these issues if they want their guests to have a good experience staying here.

Great place for bird and bird lovers. Country boat ride is little tiring and those who don't know swimming be careful about your movements. Now a days water level is low. Local people informed us that for bird watching winter is the best time. Also suggested that morning from 7 am to 10am is best time for bird watching. If you are lucky different types of migratory bird you can find. I fall in love for this place.

A quaint little place with lots of natural beauty, serenity and birds. Winter visits are the best but we found it lovely as it was cloudy and rainy. Rooms have ac and are comfy. But food & hospitality is excellent. People can make this a base and visit mayapur which is nearby (if you use public transport - local trains, ferries).

This is a basic accommodation for people visiting the bird sanctuary at Purbasthali. It's right on the lake, and boats are available in plenty. Staff is polite and helpful. Clean rooms with running hot water, air conditioning. Basic but wholesome meals. Very reasonable charges.

Rooms basic, during off season maintenance is not good. The location is good as its right off the side of the lake from where you can get boats. Visit during winter is recommended.

Extremely good place to visit for 1 or 2 days for the nature lovers. Chupi is a small oxbow lake on the right bank of the Hooghly river. The paradise of migratory birds is just 8kms away from the town of Nabadwip and 120 kms from the Kolkata. It is specially known for migratory birds watching by boat riding. Charges of boat ride is 150/hr. The silence of this place breaks in winter when Chupir Char meets it's feathered friends. This 9 km long oxbow lake become home of many migratory birthday during winter . You can have a near glance to flocks of Gadwalls,Eurasian Wigeons,Northern Pintails, kingfishers, Intermediate Egret, the Sandpiper, Pochard and many more. If anyone wants to do bird photography of watch birds my suggestion is to stay 1 night there and go early morning before it gets crowded. There are govt. Cottages for stay you can book online. Till now there is no private hotels.

Stayed in the rooms in the mango grove. Good rooms with requisite amenities such as TV, hot water kettle and a cooler with filtered drinking water. Food is homely and tasty. The birds in the nearby oxbow lake are a sight to behold.

If you are a nature and bird lover, this place should be in your must visit list. Located in a village called Kashthashali in Purba Bardhaman of West Bengal, this place contains a large shallow oxbow lake that becomes home for many native and migratory birds during the winter.

This place is my favourite wetland in West Bengal, for birding and bird photography. If you love bird photography then you are not going to consider accommodation. Food and accommodations are low to moderate in terms of price pinch. In terms of quality a bird photographer can stay in marshes. But everything is under development, so you can expect betterment in a couple of years. Five stars for birding.

It is a beautiful place to stay in chupi. Food is great. This place is adjacent to the oxbow lake where you can find boats for birding. I am visiting chupi for 6years now & every time I stay here. The best time to visit Chupi is in winter though I personally visited this place in monsoon, summer & in other seasons too. Every season has its own beauty.

If you are into bird watching and want to watch birds in early morning and late evening, then you must stay here. Foods are good, rooms are average - more attention can be given to the maintenance of the rooms. But the scenic view of the place and spectacular experience of the boat rides would surely captivate your mind.

Purbasthali A riverine oxbow lake known as 'Chupi Char' and a cluster of islands comprise the Purbasthali Gangetic isle complex located on the meandering course of River Bhagirathi-Hooghly (a distributary of the River Ganges), in the East Bardhaman district of West Bengal. Popularly known as the Purbasthali Bird Sanctuary, this natural lake spreads over almost 3.5sq.km. and the channel of water extends in a closed loop for almost 10km. The lake is fed fresh river water through a narrow opening. Β Two progressive villages – Kasthashali and Chupi are situated beside the lake. Every year, with the onset of winter, the wetlands of Purbasthali are aflutter with the calls of migratory birds. Visitors can take a boat ride on the crystal clear water of the lake and enjoy a magical mosaic of more than 100 species of resident and migratory birds. Apart from being a haven for migratory birds, Purbasthali is also steeped in history and religion. Temples and ruins are scattered all across the region. Rail The best way to reach Purbasthali is to board the Howrah Katwa Local, either from Howrah or Sealdah railway stations. It will take you around 4 hours to reach Purbasthali. From the station area, visitors can hire a Toto (battery-operated rickshaw) to reach the lake. The journey will not take more than 15 to 20 minutes. Road Visitors who love long drives can take the road. The distance between Kolkata and Purbasthali is around 130 to 140km and it will take you 5 to 6 hours to reach Purbasthali.

Very peaceful and well maintained.. Staffs are helpful and well behaved. Couple friendly.. Best time to visit November to February as that is the season for migratory birds 🐦 Amazon is an area where you can float on boats only in winter and monsoon.. In summer it is dry and closed for visitors'.. The boatman named Madan Parul is highly recommended as he makes it possible whole heartedly to reach out the birds and to capture them beautifully.. Visit once..

  • 2/5 Sudipta M. 2 years ago on Google
Best time to explore this place is December to February. A boatman named Ranjit is experienced person who used to sail and as well as make acquainted about different Migratory birds with local name. Thare are so many sailors at the bank of the oxbow lake. The boat traveling is very pleasant and safe. Local people are very cordial.
