After being in West Bengal for a little more than a week. I was craving for some simple home cooked food. By divine grace, while wandering around Shantiniketan I chanced up POUSHALI, (so glad I did). Since it was lunch time I ordered a meal and was mentally elevated with their homely and soulful food. The owner was a very pleasant and hospitable gentleman. Service was good. Will definitely consider staying or having my meals the next time I am back in Shantiniketan 🙏

Calm pleasant soothing ambiance, the location of the Hotel is very near from the Biswavarati University campus. The hospitality of the owner Tinku Da is very good. Food quality and room service are also very good. Staffs are well mannered and helpful. They arrange Baul sangeet at the night which is awesome.Even the owner Tinku Da arranges Projector for WorldCup Football Final and the experience is amazing..Overall my experience is very good and I do Visit the place again.. I highly recommend everyone to visit the place and I’m sure none will be disappointed here..

What a bad experience I had..Uff. terrific. Only one positive point is its location. Other than that I am disappointed very much on each and every factors- 1. Before our journey I started our communication through WhatsApp. The Owner named "Tinku" just denied whatever he promised to server us like evening snacks, coffee. 2. Room condition is very poor and AC is not working properly. Telephone is not working, so every time I had to go their reception from 2nd/3rd floor to ask our requirement. 3. I visited lots of places in India and among them spent day in different kinds of hotels and homestay. I have not seen any places where food for under 5 years child are being charged. Normally we see up to 5years free,5-10years 50% and above 10years full. But they charged us for food of 3years child. 4. All staff including owner is very lazy and their attitude like as if they are giving us job - actually I think they have not a single quality how to behave with guest and running hotels. 5. Food is overpriced and test less-We got same items every day in lunch. It was very difficult to take. 6. I visited Santiniketan 7/8 times. This time I stayed in this lodge and got most terrible experience. Lots of work I have to write, but don't want to spend my word for this horrible experience and extremely bad service. I don't have option to give Zero star, that is why I have to give 1 star.

Except the location, everything was horrible!!!..... The service was horrendous and disgusting.....The 'Bluff Master' owner can't keep his commitment right from the beginning....they even served us old and tasteless food by their third-class 'Master Chief'....I’m surprised they even have a business !!

The hotel is in great position in Santiniketan..if you willing to visit Santiniketan and sonajhuri etc. It is the right place..👍 the service and behaviour of owner and the workers are awesome... Come, explore & enjoy your vacation .

First of all the hotel location is very nice. It is situated near to Biswa-Bharati . Nandalal Basu's house is situated one side of hotel and other side has Amartya Sen's house . Hotel room was cleaned enough and washroom also. The food is just delicious and tasty. I loved it . No city type professionalism here. You get a home care from the hotel staff also. I suggest the hotel for a vacation at Shantiniketan.

Excellent behaviour of the staffs and management. Home quality food. Within the campus of Viswa Bharati and near to Bolpur rly station. Easily accessible for motor cars also.

Loved the atmosphere and ambience. A home-like experience and a big garden in front of the lodge. Really good food and room service is also available. Big and airy rooms and very comfortable. Staff is friendly and helpful. Overall, it would get a six out of five stars because of the good food. I would recommend everyone to try this lodge, the next time they visit Shantiniketan.

Very clean and the staff are very co operative. The environment is very calm and peaceful with greenery all around. The rooms are spacious. This hotel is very close to Visva Bharati Shiksha Bhavan hence, ideal for exam candidates.

Excellent family hotel located at a prime location.I do not think are many better located hotels in Shantiniketan as the Museum, Kalabhaban etc. is about 300 yards away and the hotel is still in a very sedate and peaceful area of the town. Rooms are clean ,staff of the hotel are very caring , the manager is friendly and the cook is above excellence. The quality of food was too good and very easy to digest .We were two couples with two naughty children and it was very nice to find such a homely place to stay . I would suggest that you should book by phone as it would be cheaper that way and also take the food package option(Breakfast,Lunch,Snacks and Dinner ) unless you know that you would be eating outside .

Great place to stay, very homely. We stay there everytime we come to Shantiniketan, because of the location and services offered. Aparajito Babu has done a great job of running this beautiful place.

Visited dis place jst 2 days ago with our scl colleagues A budget-friendly hotel with beautiful atmosphere , located inside Viswa Bharati campus , next to Amartya sen's house Pratichi. We got a package of fooding & lodging at a reasonable rate of price . Home -cooked tasty food. The owner Mr. Tinku basu is very cordial & helpful. Over al a good xperience at poushali & highly recommended. Looking forward to visit again with family

This is a very late review. I visited Shantiniketan during 8th of March, 2019 and booked Poushali Hotel. The manager informed me prior that the stay would be arranged outside the main Poushali Hotel behind Sripalli Boys Hostel and we agreed to it. On reaching Shantiniketan we found out that the furniture’s in the rooms were very bad, linen was of very poor quality and the shower and the faucet was also not working. We requested the manager to make our booking in the main hotel if possible. From this point his foul mouthing and bad behavior started. Ultimately we agreed to stay at our assigned place and requested the manager to repair the shower and the faucet. Whole day passed by no one came to repair. Next day morning after repeatedly calling the manager he sent a guy to repair but he couldn’t repair. We now decided to leave the hotel in spite our 2-day booking. We went to the main hotel, cleared the balance amount for our stay for 1 day and informed the manger that we would want to leave the hotel. The manager demanded full payment for both the days. We cleared payment for a day and denied the payment for the day we were not staying at his place because of his extremely poor service. We wanted to stay but couldn’t because he couldn’t fix the shower and faucet of the toilet after repeatedly calling him. The manager started shouting and foul mouthing at top of his voice. Extremely bad behavior from the manager. My mother was frightened with his behavior. He was threatening us to take us to the Hotel association in Shantiniketan. I suggested him lets go the police station to solve the matter which he denied to. After several round of arguments and constant shouting and foul mouthing from the manager we moved out of the hotel. This is a very bad memory of mine and I relieved the memory as I visited Shantiniketan again this New Year’s eve and while passing through the road in front of Poushali Hotel this time I relieved those bad memories once again. I vividly remember the incident because the incident left my mother scared and frightened for a long time.

Very comfortable and reliable hotel primely located within the university campus.Big comfortable rooms available with good fooding. Enjoyed our three days stay.

stay in this hotel from 30th march to 1st April. the only good thing about this hotel is their food. but apart from that everything is so bad. Owner told us that we are their special guest, but in his behavior we didn't feel like that. room is not clean, service is so slow & owner is not helpful. I will never visit this place anymore.

I have stayed in this place for the 2nd time it was a wonderful experience. The manager is very helpful & friendly to the customer and take care of each thing. And the hotel ambiance will give u a homey vibe and also the food quality and purity at his best. The hotel is situated on a proper place near biswabharati & Amartya Sen house still asking for a preferential rate and with a good room condition. Come with you family or friends and enjoy

Substandard place with a no-good manager, located somewhat opportunely by Amartya Sen's house. On the evening of 10th March '23, we chanced upon this lodge run by an uncouth excuse of a man. He imposed himself upon us when we were evidently tired from the journey and simply wanting an uncomplicated check-in. After thoroughly frying our brains with a long lecture on the lodge that didn't look like anything much but just unkempt and ill-maintained, he handed us the keys to a smallish room with a bed covered in tattered linen and a couple of dust-covered grimy furniture thrown about. Room condition was inadequate for a hefty nightly charge of INR 1500, but we decided to take it anyway since we were extremely tired. At this point, he pocketed an advance of Rs. 500 from us, still shooting off his mouth like anything about the unconvincing legacy of the place, that of hosting "legendary" artists like singer Iman Chatterly or chattaraj or whatever and other such greats. Just when we turned to leave for our room, looking forward to finally getting the insufferable clinger off our backs, he started nagging for an assurance of us staying the next day as well, why? because he supposedly had to turn away very important customers for our sake. This, for us was the tipping point. When we demanded to check out right away, he started randomly gasbagging about how he had been a student at Vishwabharati's Sangeet Bhavan and therefore a mighty bhoddorlok who can be trusted. After tinkering with our moods some more, he finally returned the advance so we could leave. Avoid at all costs!

Location is outstanding but service level....room maintenance....food....all are pathetic. Everything including room to food All are overpriced. Century old Bed linens will give you filthy feeling.

First of all its not a hotel. Its a home stay. Moreover behavior is extremely bad. Food quality decent. Although location is good but one will get far better hotel at this price.

Too much expensive rates comparing the place.. Room are old and Damp, odorous environment .If you take package with fooding then you will be a in big trouble.. Because they may tell you a lot but your plates will be filled with hospital catagory dishes.Also the quantity is avarage..If you ask for more quantity then extra you have to pay for it..overall very bad experience.

Based on the experience, I could write a whole paragraph but need to keep it short here. Perfectly placed, away from hustle bustle, this place provided the peace of mind of staying at an unknown place, a home away from home. The cordial and ever so smiling owner Mr. Mitra is just a cherry on the cake. He helped me in every possible way when I had to cut my trip short. In one word- excellent. Highly recommended. Period. PS: Looking forward to visit again dada.

I stayed in the cottage.. every room has geyser, A.C and T.V. The people r too co-operative. The hotel is just a stone this distance from the house of Nobel laureate Amartya Sen.

“Shantiniketan” It's a cultural and nostalgic place including crafts and baul songs. When you visit this type of places you need accommodation which will provide complete peace of mind. I must say location wise Hotel Poushali is nice and the atmosphere is awesome. The cordial and friendly owner Mr. Mitra is always ready to help and guide you to explore Shantiniketan. Each and every room is well maintained. Food quality will definitely give you a home-food touch but they prepare food as per requirement of customers, so have to plan and place your orders accordingly. Overall Excellent & I will definitely recommend this stay.

Such an amazing stay here! Amazing locality, homely ambience, delicious food and ofcourse cooperative staffs. Would recommend everyone to stay here for a beautiful experience.. P.S Tinku da takes care of all the guests personally, which is the icing on the cake!!

Best resting place in Bolpur. Also they have parking area. Last but not the least, you can check in even in the wee hours of the night and the hosts are very welcoming. Would love to visit again.
