One of the best properties located far off from the state capital nestled between the jungles. The rates of room are high compared to other properties of state eco tour because the property is located deep inside the jungle and transporting supplies such as food, water etc costs a little bit more. Bison block is the newest of the lot and it’s a double storey building with 8 rooms close to each other. In case if you need privacy then don’t book bison block. In case you need views then go for bison block by compromising your privacy a bit. Aakash and Prithvi cottage rooms are close to each other with interiors better and views facing the jetty area and the mountains. Rest all cottages like Jal, Bayu, Agni and Bhumi are facing the east side of the water body with full view of the sun rise and hirakund dam at night. Agni cottage is right next to the dining hall and people with less mobility can opt for this cottage. In case if you are less then 4 people try booking the 4 seater gypsy when you arrive at the property for safari. Online booking of gypsy is not available and it costs Rs 2,000 for a 2.5-3hrs safari. The boating provided by the property is inclusive of room rent and it takes 1.5-2hrs covering close by island. Try going for the boating in the second half of the day as local fisherman serve you fresh catch of the day on the island tour post 12 noon. Safari can be opted after lunch or early morning as animal sighting is purely luck. We got to see many bisons, peacock, wild boar, bear, deers and sambhar but no leopard. Food served at the dining hall is fresh and local sourced vegetables cooked in less species. Tea served here is usually of low sugar. All young people are working there with open heart and smile to serve you during your stay. Kayaking also is complimentary with guide available at the property. Entry to the property is the drive thru the jungles for 3-4 kms in your own vehicle. Overall a great experience for a one to two day stay. Only issue is the power fluctuations and they manually turn on the DG.

Debrigarh Nature Camp is one of the best and serene camps in India. It has the cutest crew team who were of utmost help and comforting. Food served here is simple, healthy and tasty. The safari was cool with medium sighting despite winter, so its evident that summer sightings would be four times rich. Every evening a common bonfire is lit for all the guests, you can get a personal one lit next to your cottage with some nominal extra bucks. We stayed at Bison block which is a newly built establishment, having all modern amenities with a bit of extra space. The rest of the cottages are same, just a bit smaller. Boating to the nearby islands were beautiful and photograph worthy. Last but not the least, the atmosphere here is extremely peaceful with no external disturbances. There are no television provision to avoid disturbing the animals, and also net connection is poor. Overall experience is top notch. Book only if you are a nature person, because the resort offers everything which defers city life.

It was an Amazing Experience . Located near the Hirakud Reservoir, inside the Wildlife Sanctuary, is this Nature camp. Accommodation - It has four cottages and one 8 roomed two storied block. While Independent cottages are AGNI, JAL, VAYU & BHUMI , Bison Block are 8 roomed block with 4 rooms on first floor and 4 on ground floor. Bison block being newly constructed are better unless one prefers the cottages. All are fitted with AC , water heater and other routine amenities. In case opting for cottages, considering the view from yhe cottage, preferably I would go for JAL, VAYU, AGNI and then BHUMI(in that order). In Bison Block, go for the first floor rooms. Bison Block has beautiful balconies overlooking the reservoir . If you are lucky you may see some animals too from there. Booking is online only. The staff is very helpful. Food - The food is simple yet tasty. It’s buffet system and is available in the Dining Hall which again has a wonderful view of the reservoir. Bed tea is served at 6 AM. Breakfast 7.30-9.30 AM. Lunch 1-2 PM , evening snacks ( Pakora) and tea at 6 PM, Dinner 8-9.30 PM. They will call and ask your preference for veg / Non Veg. Service- Service with a smile is what makes this place wonderful. The staff is mainly sourced from the local villages as part of community development. They are simple people willing to go that extra mile to meet your requirements. River Cruise- 1.5 hr Boating is included in the room tariff. They take you to two points, Bat island which houses few villagers who live on the island. The other point is Sunset island. You only get to disembark at Bat island. It’s a good experience. In summers you may see animals and in winters migratory birds. We had taken the evening cruise at 4 PM. Jungle Safari- This costs extra. Details are available on the website. They have two Thar Jeeps , 8 seater and 12 seater. If opting for Jeep , request the driver to remove the roof for better visibility and experience. The safari is 12 Km one way to a Place called Parbati Tung. It’s an anti poaching camp. The jungle is beautiful and if you are lucky you will encounter many wild animals, like Spotted dear, Indian Bison, Sambhar, Bear, Wild boar etc. best months to visit is Apr-May and in the winters. Best time to go as per the guide are evening in Summers and Morning in winters. We had taken the 6 AM safari. Driver Accommodation- One has to pay extra. His room and food is catered for.

One of the worst nature camps in odisha. First of all road from Bhubaneswar to Debrigarh is in awful condition which is in construction mode since long time, if anyone wants to visit Hirakud, try the road via jharsuguda. It's about 100kms extra but worth it. Apart from this name anything, service or food or management everything was poorly maintained. First rooms, roome were spacious & had a good view, butbwe had booked for 2 days, so what happened they allotted the upper room on first day & alloted lower floor room on 2nd day, just awful management. Next food, worst fooding experience ever. Food served was ice cold with no taste. They tried to make lemon rice in which mango & lemon pickle was mixed. We complained the same & thought the food quality will change the next day, but it was all the same. Kitchen was full of cockroaches & was totally unhygienic. This is an wildlife sanctuary so no honking & gates will be closed at 6pm which is good but the service they provided was really bad. Parathas were raw inside, Paneer was stinking, No milk or curd at disposal. We did asked to the kitchen staff if someone is really inspecting all this, coz looking at the kitchen no one will approve it & some random kitchen guy said no one has done inspection from long time. The management really needs to change for better. Daringbadi & Mandasaru nature camps are way better than this place. If you really want to visit Hirakud, better plan for stay in sambalpur. You will get many options such as panthanivas & other hotels.

1 day will be enough here. Sightseeing and food is great except the stay. Dusty fan, bedsheets, blankets, pillow and furniture condition will surely make you upset. If you are more adventurous then plan for bada aapkhol which the other side of debrigarh i.e. Bargarh side.

Rooms are ok.. but location and view was superb. Service was also ok. Food was average. You can't expect highly taste and service from this place. So total experience was good. Jungle safari in traveller was awesome. We saw bison which was main animal in Debrigarh in some distance. Also saw many Sambar, Chitol . A little Chitol was playing with her mother was a memorable moment. Lots of national bird Peacock was seen in our way. This nature camp have lots of greenery. Lots of trees . There was 2/3watch tower. From one of them view of Hirakund dam and jungle was my best moments. If you want to avoid crowd, visit this nature place. What a mesmerizing natural beauty here. This place is adjacent to hirakund dam. Jungle safari available here, cost is little higher .if you lucky you will be seen leopards. 35 kms from Sambalpur town via Burla. You will pass through the hilly area at the side of Hirakud Dam. You may divert slightly there to see the Nehru Minar and Gandhi Minar or straight move to the Debrigarh Nature Camp. From here, the most beautiful connecting road of around 10 kms leading to the Debrigarh Nature Camp is a feast to your eyes. The deep blue vast water surface of Hirakud Dam in one side and the dense greenery and fields on the other side will take you to another world. The cottages look good, spacious but with some shortcomings. The fans fitted here are not over your bed but are at one side. The mirror in the bathroom is fitted in wrong place and faces the basin. Very big and rough looking iron gates are fitted as entry door which is difficult to operate. The glass fitted in the tilted roof gets filled with dry leaves and looks odd. No skylights in the cottages for air passage. Otherwise the bathrooms are spacious and geysers are fitted for hot water. The bed provided is quite large. Of course the new 2 stair building "Bison Block" is having a resort stay type ambience having some sophistication.

The location of this nature camp is simply breathtaking - on one side is the vast lake formed by the waters of Hirakud dam and on the other side is the forest. Even the approach road as you come from Sambalpur will elevate your mood. The accomodation consists of several double bedded and one four bedded cottage and several double bedded rooms in the main building. These rooms are much better than the cottages. Especially the rooms on first floor have great views from the balcony. Tariff is rather steep but it includes breakfast, lunch dinner and evening tea and snacks. The icing on the cake is a 2 hour complimentary boat ride on the lake with halt at an island. You can also avail of a 2 hour jungle safari at 4 convenient timings at extra charge. Several vehicles from 3 seater to 12 seater are available. All bookings can be done online. Food quality is average. The 5 km approach road from Debrigarh sanctuary where the safari starts and where the reception/ office is located is in extremely bad shape. Choose a jeep or some such vehicle. Behaviour of staff was extremely polite and prompt service was provided whenever we called. A memorable stay and a great way to unwind yourself.

The place was really calm and quiet, during the Safari we saw a few animals but mostly bears, deer and wild bison. The resort was great, you could spend hours sitting by the reservoir and feel you spent just a few minutes out there. The food was decent, and the staff was amazing and very helpful. It is fairly hot though, but they have ac and all night electricity access available. The activities are nice and it is a good place near Sambalpur to relax.

We just came back from Debrigarh. It was an amazing experience. We reached the place at 1:45 pm, had lunch and set out on the last Jungle Safari at 3:30. Our guide and driver were extremely knowledgeable , and cooperative. We also went for the morning boat ride next day. Both were absolutely amazing experiences. I suggest to go for the Safari either at the break of day(7:30 am) or dusk(3:30 pm) as that's when most animals are out and about. Same for the boat ride. Of course you can choose for both timings for both activities... It is also advisable to visit in Winter to watch Migratory Birds.

Quiet place near Hirakud Dam (approach from Burla side). Online booking from "ecotourodisha". Night stay Package cost include food and boating. "Boomi" is only 4 bed cottage - but room size is same as DB rooms. If you are 3 member family with even the child 18+, book a DB room with +1 child (put age 18, as 18+ system won't accept). There won't be any problem to check in. Boating (complimentary) - Get down at Bat island for few mins. Its an small island and appropriately named. During winter - can see lots of migratory birds during boating or from land. Saffary - charged extra. (2000 for 3 seater, 3000 for 8 seater and 4000 for 12 seater vehicle). Saffary can be booked after reaching there. The trip goes upto about 13km though jungle and then back. Took about 90 mins. Its normal to see Peocock, Sambar (Dear), Spotted Dear, Monkey, Bison. If lucky - can see glimps of Bear and Lepard. Though inside jungle, place is safe for family trip. Dont expect good ph network. Keep few packet cookie / biscuit or drink pack - particularly if you had kids. Expect no outside food shop there. Food - Day menu NV is fish rice. Fresh fish from reservoir cooked there. If you only prefer roti (at day) - specially tell during their morning call. At night, both roti and rice with chicken. Veg option is Paneer preparation. Food may be of little choice for South Indian groups. Evening pakora with tea, bed tea at 6am, 3-4 type option for breakfast at 8:30 onward. Young and energetic staff. They polightly refuse to accept tips also.

This was the second time I've been to Debrigarh. During our first visit, the staff were neither well behaved, nor polite. But I have to say, this time every single staff member was extremely well behaved and helpful. We enjoyed our stay at the nature camp and we would love to go again to experience the wonderful scenic beauty of Debrigarh

Nice accommodations, well maintained and cleaned.Foods were delicious. Staffs were well behaved and helpful. But hot water outlets from geyser was choked, so water flow was less.Following improvements are suggested. Some outdoor game activities for children. Some indoor games may be provided. Camp fires may be accompanied with soft musics/ tribal dance.

One of the best place to spend with nature with friends and family. The Jungle Safari is awesome. Boating is also available. One can go on trek also. The only thing needs improvement is the food and the room power supply. Frequent power cuts is a big problem those going on summer days.

It is one of best place you can spend your holiday with your family away from your daily life, away from all the chaos. Affordable prices, The rooms are great, people serving here are very friendly. It's like seeing the true beauty of nature untouched by any human being. There are every kind of rooms available, for couples, for friends and for families. Rooms are furnished with air conditioning. Although you can see more animals in summer as animals come to the reservoir to drink water on summer but the best time visit this nature camp is winter.

We visited on the 1st of May thus was not that crowded.the camp is in very interiors. I had to pass a very long canal that led to the huge Hirakud dam. The dam is very scenic, has a beautiful scenery too and then comes the camp. After entry you have to pass a 1.5km road inside the jungle to reach the camp. Please carry eatables or many snacks with you because there is nothing else available except the canteen food. Please dont expect any fancy restaurant there as they has limited quantity food available . We were lucky to see peacock, bison, black bear and other types of deer. It a worth to visit place. You may get less mobile network there.

It was a wonderful stay in that camp. Service is awesome. The jungle safari was a life time experience. Food was very homely and nice. Not at all oily or spicy. The evening and the night was more attractive to feel the sound of crickets and the dense forest around the camp. A must visit.

The Eco Stay at Debrigarh is highly recommended for anyone looking for an escape to nature. The stay is inside the Debrigarh forest area, near the banks of the Hirakud Reservoir. Boating in the Hirakud Reservoir is included in the booking. The Jungle Safari is also a must do when you stay here.

Debrigarh Nature Camp is a well-maintained retreat with comfortable lodgings and breathtaking views. The picturesque surroundings and variety of wildlife make it a paradise for nature lovers. Clean and cozy accommodations, along with courteous staff, and good food, ensure a memorable stay. Boating to Bat and Sunset Islands was thrilling! The speed boat ride added excitement, and the views from the water were unforgettable.

An electrical kettle will be a desired addition in the room. Experience was A++ Worth revisiting. It is strongly suggested that evening activities like folk dance be organized. If needed price can be hiked. Pick and drop arrangement from Sambalpur Railway station and Jharsuguda airport will be a value addition.

Best place to visit near Sambalpur and Burla. The location is awesome to site sunrise and sunset. Also, bat island and the nest island are the must visit site to enjoy the boat ride in the Hirakud dam. Kayaking is also included within the package, and one of the best option to witness sunrise, from the water. Overall, a best weekend gateway to enjoy the serenity of Nature with good food and great service.

I am surprised this place is not hot on the map yet. we did a safari with a thar 4x4 jeep which was cool. spotted some animals and fresh pugmasks of a recent tiger find. the place gives good views of the hill and hirakud reservoir lake. and the place is very well managed with all inclusive stay in the camp. the rooms are elevated and well maintained. there are some adventure sports like kayaking and boating which can be enjoyed at a reasonable price. the staff is happy, confident and pleased to help. lastly, the low light is not scary and you can finally find a place with a sky full of stars. highly recommended.

Debrigarh Nature camp is on the Hirakud Dam . It's around 35 km from Sambalpur. It's famous for its beautiful scenery and wildlife. The long ride on the dyke on the dam upto Nature camp is really scenic and enjoyable. However you can see the wildlife in Safari, only if you are lucky enough.
