Had
a
trek
planned
for
Hampta
Pass.
The
whole
trek
was
badly
disorganized
and
the
guide
and
porters
seemed
all
unprepared.
We
were
made
to
squeezed
into
a
jeep
that
was
to
take
us
to
the
starting
point.
We
were
told
the
jeep
was
a
nine-seater
but
and
the
space
inside
certainly
wasn't
meant
to
hold
nine.
To
make
things
worse,
they
made
10
of
us
squeeze
into
the
jeep
and
the
mountainous
terrain
up
to
the
starting
point
meant
it
wasn't
safe
and
comfortable
at
all.
We
were
promised
an
English-speaking
guide
but
our
guide
could
speak
only
a
smattering
of
English.
It
was
difficult
to
explain
our
concerns
to
him.
At
the
starting
point,
we
saw
the
guide
of
another
group
briefing
her
group
about
the
trek
and
things
to
look
out
for.
However
our
guide
basically
left
us
on
our
own.
He
didn't
seem
to
know
what
was
included
in
our
trek
package.
When
we
asked
about
our
packed
lunch
prior
to
the
start
of
the
trek,
he
claimed
that
there
was
none.
But
after
we
had
spent
extra
money
to
buy
food
and
drinks
for
ourselves,
our
guide
turned
up
with
sandwiches
and
claimed
that
those
were
our
lunches
and
he
had
just
been
given
them.
As
it
was
raining
incessantly,
we
had
to
proceed
with
the
trek
in
the
rain.
Our
guide
was
an
experienced
trekker
but
a
terrible
guide.
Despite
us
informing
him
and
the
agency
beforehand
that
we
were
all
new
to
trekking,
he
failed
to
take
care
of
us
throughout
the
trek,
even
worse
since
we
had
to
trek
in
rainy
weather.
He
promised
that
we
will
reach
our
first
camp
before
nightfall,
however
when
we
arrived,
our
tents
were
still
not
ready.
Our
guide
made
us
wait
in
the
kitchen
tent
of
another
group
and
we
had
to
pay
for
our
own
drinks.
By
the
time
he
came
to
bring
us
to
our
tents,
it
was
pitch-black
and
we
found
wet
sleeping
bags
waiting
for
us.
Dinner
was
very
late
and
it
was
definitely
not
what
was
promised
to
us
in
the
package.
The
next
day
was
also
another
rainy
day
however
our
guide
gave
us
the
option
to
continue
the
trek.
We
later
found
out
from
members
of
two
other
groups
that
their
guides
had
decided
to
delay
their
treks
by
a
day
and
to
stay
in
the
first
camp
for
another
day
out
of
safety
reasons.
Overall
the
whole
trek
was
disappointing,
not
so
much
by
the
rainy
weather,
but
by
the
attitude
of
the
guide.
Throughout
the
trek,
our
faith
in
the
guide
grew
thin
and
out
of
concern
for
our
own
safety,
we
decided
to
return
to
Manali
earlier.
I
do
not
recommend
this
company
at
all
as
safety
was
not
ensured
for
trekkers.
Everything
that
was
promised
in
the
package
failed
to
materialize
and
we
had
to
spend
extra
money
out
of
our
pockets.
