Worst hostel in the UK. Wouldn't put a dog in here for the night. Beds are not safe, and break health and safety guidelines. Top bunk beds are missing there guard rail so one extra roll over during the night and you'll be on the floor with a bump. Bathrooms are not much better. Had to use the ladies instead but that had a ladies end of the monthly cycle in the lavatory bowl and blocked it up, not the sort of thing you want to see before breakfast. Think hostel is being used to house the homeless more than the stereo typical backpacker. Also tried to rip me off quoting a different price to what's on hostelworld. Shame there's not a minus 5 star rating because one star is being generous.

This Hostel is an insult to backpackers and should be closed down for taking money in return for a fraudulent service. It completely undermines the point of cheap travel and just exists to exploit trusting adventure seekers that book online. Any good reviews you read have either been paid for or are written by the staff themselves. The environment is reminiscent of a Dickensian workhouse, inclusive of rotten food and infested with parasitic vermin in the shape of bedbugs, copious amounts of rats, drugged-up drifters, and of course the archetypal Nigerian rogue landlord, so if that's the experience of London you are after... they've nailed it. If not, stay clear, hopefully, Sadiq Khan and Greenwich Council will close this embarrassment to the Hostel world soon and people can be protected from paying for squalid conditions manipulated by unregulated, unqualified so-called Hospitality owners.

Lovely place, I love the way they dragged me out of bed at 2am saying a hadn't paid even though I had paid a few days prior. They kicked me into the streets and now I am in a park in mid November in London. I have HIV and bronchitis and if I die I hope it weighs heavily on their souls.

The only thing that could be said in favor of this hostel is the price. It's dingy, it's greasy, the bed is broken in many places - steps are bent, screws aren't tight... There are candy wrappers and tissues from our predecessors between the slatted frame and mattress on the upper floor. The bed sheet is too small. The window is kept open with a piece of wood. The window frame is moldy and there is mouse (rat?) bait under the bed. Garbage from our predecessors can still be found there. The bathrooms are a disaster, you shouldn't go in there barefoot. The tiles are loose. It's greasy. Here, too, the windows are moldy and there is no heating at all. Showering is also impossible for small people due to the height of the water inlet. The toilet seems to be leaking water from the bottom, it's always damp there. And only those who know how to use the flush lever are able to flush. By the way, there is only one women's toilet in the house, I saw at least 2 for men. Oh, and if you don't know how to lock the door correctly, you can get unwanted visitors while washing, showering or using the toilet. For breakfast, which is included in the price, you can get it from 8 a.m. if you're lucky, or later if you don't say so: 2 types of toast, margarine, 2 types of jam, cornflakes, milk, sugar, tea and instant coffee. The kitchen is a nightmare: there are strange plastic bags in the cupboards; The dishes are washed after they have been used and parked in the basket next to the sink to drain for the next time. Actually, even one star is still too many.

Friendly enough staff, but that's all. Dorm rooms have no locks on the doors, and the 20 lockers available all had broken locks. The bunk beds were held together with duct tape, and rooms had so many beds put in them you had to walk sideways between them. The free breakfast consisted of two boxes of cereal, one bottle of milk, and whatever cutlery had been brought in from outside. When it came to bookings, they were poorly organized so a group who'd been assured a single dorm together months in advance were split across all of the rooms. Yes it is virtually opposite the DLR, but there are no signs outside to even signify there was a hostel there. One of the dorm rooms wasn't in even use due to a huge pile of construction refuse, dirtied mattresses, duvets and cardboard being thrown in it, even though there was obviously no work being done.

The staff is just ok. They aren't rude, but don't expect them to be nice either... just ok. The rooms are horrible. The mattress is so old that you feel every spring. In my 4 people room, I was the only tourist. The other three guys were old, rude, snoring permanent residents of the place. Kitchen? Dirty. Toilets? Shared and dirtier than the kitchen. Please save yourself a headache and don't stay in this place. You don't want to ruin your holiday staying in this accommodation.

The worst accommodation I have ever been. Rooms are dirty and I felt disguisted just laying on bed that after first night I bought myself my own bed sheet. I wanted to change accommodation but person in charge there said, they don't do refunds for earlier check out, which is not fair in my opinion. Bathroom was in terrible condition, dirt and mud on floor, no cover on toilets, no toilet paper. In some showers there was no shower head. "Service room" was rude, when I came there they had an arument who should clean my room before I go there. My and my friend decided to check out one day earlier becouse of change of our plans and when we were doing that at 4pm hotel service stared to do remorse to us that we should do that before 11am even thoug we were supposed check out day later. Location also is not satisfying as it's next to market and every day early morning you can hear sound of metal pipes using for building stalls. I don't recomend it to nobody. It should be closed

PLEASE, EVEN IF IT LOOKS MORE OR LESS IN THE PHOTOS TO BE CLEAN AND A PASABLE PLACE, I RECOMMEND THAT YOU DO NOT BOOK HERE. MY BOYFRIEND AND I HAD TO BOOK ELSEWHERE THERE ONCE BECAUSE IT WAS VERY DIRTY AND THE CONDITIONS were terrible.

Honestly if I was homeless and had absolutely nowhere to stay then he would be perfect but I am not . Once I arrived I wasn’t shown around and did not get the opportunity to see my room before I paid, The double bed was in bad condition so I had to put my mattress on the floor , Not only was I not made aware that they don’t do refunds when I asked to change rooms because of the bed I was told that no rooms are available, The nicest place in this establishment is actually the kitchen it’s clean and organised and nothing is broken , As for my room and the bathroom as for my room and the bathroomThe toilet has no tissue one of the showers is broken and the pressure of the shower is really low. The staff aren’t very friendly ore helpful but the bare staff are lovely. I booked for a week and after just 1 night I have decided that this Space Is not conducive for my physical health ( I won’t be getting any refund do I have left 6 days worth of stay with them), only when when I asked to speak to the manager they offered me another room , to share with a couple, this room also was not a fit for me to stay in , guys PLEAS DO NOT BOOK A STAY HERE , NOT EVEN FOR THE AFFORDABILITY FACTOR

The hostel is still in progress. A very old building that need a lot of restauration. It is not good yet for having a holiday. But the owner is a very nice man, and I am sure that in time the hostel will do much better. Good luck!! Best regards, Janet from Holland.

One star is already too much to tell the truth, we initially booked for several nights with a friend however after not even 5 minutes spent inside we already wanted to turn around and for good reason the place is totally unsanitary the staff is unpleasant, no sockets work and as a bonus the icing on the cake is the manager who comes to sleep in our dormitory... run away is the only advice to give

It's basic, a little tight and not of a travel lodge standard, but to be honest, if you're looking at this price bracket they're excellent for the money. It's super cheap, very clean, has a nice big communal kitchen, friendly staff, a massive 24 hour tesco round the corner and is literally across the street from the train station. We used them last year for a uni group down from Glasgow and will be booking again this year.

Booked Ordnance Hostel through HostelBookers - the pictures on the site looked Ok and the reviews were average, normal for a very cheap hostel. - BIG MISTAKE not reading reviews on another site. I imagine the AWFUL owner probably writes his own reviews to bump the score up. Arrived at the hostel two nights ago, there is no sign except a piece of paper with the name on it. Drag bags upstairs to the reception area, no wait thats the lounge/common area with two couches and about 20 people in in.. Guy at the desk is friendly enough, we pay the 81 pounds for 3 nights (twin room), read the rules (NO REFUNDS!!!!!) and go up more stairs to our room. It was a DIRTY JAIL CELL and nosy as from the street. Walls are thin, you can hear everyone. There is only ONE GIRL AND ONE BOY toilet for the WHOLE hostel. Same with showers, but I think one was broke, so ONE shower for everyone. Bathrooms dirty and disgusting. Kitchen small Common areas (reception) minimal and dirty and full of people scoffing their faces dropping food everywhere. WIFI barely works and keeps dropping off. I packed the bags up while my BF complained to the guy at the desk, asked to talk to the manager (via phone) who was then VERY RUDE, UNPROFESSIONAL and needs to do a course in how to run a business. Owner/manager runs a cleaning business... HAH. Considering how DIRTY, FOWL and UNLIVEABLE his hostel is.. To those positive reviews on HostelBookers and HostelWorld, I dont know what low kind of standards they have but this is the worst hostel I have ever been in, and I only stayed about an hour tops. DO NOT STAY HERE.

Is the most dirty and dilapidated hostel I've ever seen. The website pictures do not correspond at all with the current state of the building. It has two sinks with shower for women, but are used by both men and women, plus they are in ruins. The hostel is cheap and has friendly stuff but it's worth paying a little more.

Preferably no star. I wanted to stay there with my girlfriend from July 18th to 19th. When we arrived we were shocked at where we ended up. A total ghetto district and total dirt on the streets. Wouldn't have been bad for us either. But when we stood in front of the hostel, we were shocked. We only looked in briefly from outside and only saw men who were obviously addicted to alcohol or other intoxicants. As a woman, I would definitely not recommend staying there. We were really afraid for our honor as women. Loud music was also playing on the street. Without even registering, we headed for the airport and preferred to spend the hours there until our flight home. Absolutely not recommended. Especially not for women!!!
