A hidden gem in Bethnal Green which has been running for over a century, providing affordable work and community spaces. The gallery is great value for emerging artist. Being in BG for over 20 years I never knew Oxford House had a secret chapel on the top floor. Looking forward to seeing it after the renovations.

Beautiful community place for meetings, workshops, cafe and the old chapel upstairs, renovated to it's full glory! The beautiful monochrome photographs from 1970s adorning the walls downstairs, the immaculate hallways and cafe serving great cakes and excellent coffee, all goes to make this place a thriving community building. The place maintains the characteristic old world charm when everything else changes beyond recognition! Love coming back to the slice of Britain as we once knew!

Such a unique and historic venue in the heart of East London. Wide variety of spaces to hire and wonderful cafe serving delicious coffee and food. There is a really laid back, authentic community feeling. The Staff are friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend as a oasis of calm in otherwise hectic Bethnal Green.

Great gay-friendly bar serving all manner of refreshments, alcoholic and non. Try the local London-brewed Caribbean (pineapple-grapefruit) flavoured ale. Truly marvellous.

We held a Taskmaster-themed evening at the Star in September 2019, and it was a big success thanks to the bar staff. They were very accommodating, and helped us set up the TV and sound system that we needed to make the evening a success. They managed to do this whilst serving a busy bar on a different floor, and we impressed with how professional they were. Thanks very much to the staff for making my best friend’s Birthday a success! Eleyna, Ken and Gin were brilliant also!

What A Fab night for the last “douche bag “ ! The sound system is great , awesome music , fun crowd , the place has a great vibe of a quirky pub turn into disco , cute and more quiet upstair seats and smiley girls at the bar, what’s not to like ?

Great staff, really nice and friendly. Was served quickly with helpful recommendations. Competitive prices for London (bout 5 pound for a pint) . Good draft list and wine list. Nice local dive sort of vibe.

The atmosphere was great and drinks aren't as expensive and you'd expect. The music downstairs wasnt too loud to have a conversation upstairs, but still added to the atmosphere.

Nice bar in Bethnal Green with a really good beer selection. Staff were lovely and really quick table service with their app. Food was really tasty, but book ahead at peak times as space is limited

It's a cool pub and I really like the deco. Opens late as well and gets very trendy for finishing the night before heading home.

Amazing friendly staff and the BEST cheese toasty in East London. A gem in Bethnal Green with a lovely community spirit. Lot's of activities for local community including live music on Friday's and summer activities for children. We need more spaces like Oxford House!

I have just been on an excellent tour of the building, led by Jess. The building itself is well worth seeing and there is a good view from the roof. The tour also gives an interesting insight into both the history of Oxford House and the community in this part of London.

Went to a free jazz session, not my first time there. Great community feel in the lovely setting of Weavers Fields. Really like this place

  • 5/5 Anika G. 2 years ago on Google
Amazing place, beautifully restored building, runs a series of music sessions on Fridays and occasionally very informative tours of the house. Really like the cafe in the building and they can make a mean vegan milkshake. Worth exploring, especially if someone is interested in the history of settlement houses and social care and support made available by some individuals.

Recent renovations have been done very well and maintained the character but brought it up to date. Now with a beautiful cafe. Worth checking out.

  • 5/5 Tim S. 4 years ago on Google
This is a hidden jewel in Bethnal Green, an amazing hub of community activity with an incredible history. If you sit in the tranquility of the cafe you can read all about the history on the walls. This place obviously has contemporary aspirations so it would be good to see more vegan food on offer but aside from that, this is a vibrant hub of social enterprise.

Not great. We were just quoted almost £50 an hour to hire a space that's not much of a space. Shame, as a non profit group we used to rent the chapel space at the top. Falling apart around us but it was cheap. Lucky us aye. Plus points - Staff are wonderful

  • 3/5 Melissa L. 6 years ago on Google
Interesting venue. The team is supportive and the premises are good. However, in case of big heat, there are no ventilation system, meaning the whole place can get very stuffy and uncomfortable.

I've been a volunteer at OH! for 3 months in 2016, and I enjoyed every second of it! The building is absolutely amazing, with a rich history and the most amazing third floor Victorian Chapel. The staff is kind and supportive, the volunteering activity is diverse and interesting. Oxford House is a great place to visit & to volunteer at!!

I never did hear back from them anyhow So decided to look else where .

I came here after a long day of work for a pub quiz and was so tired and not bothered. 3 SECONDS with the pink haired goddess Elayna and I felt so refreshed and happy. She knows so much about history and literally everything and makeup to kill for. Also great food and pub quiz 10000% recommend 💅💅💅💅

Not recommended at any times. I booked a visit for a group of students with a 1,5 month notice, and then at the very last minute out of the blue they cancelled it, not even trying to help to find any alternative. Very disappointing experience - sadly admitting - not reliable organisation...
