Honestly, the best food we ate in Portugal (and we were in Porto, Lisbon and Sintra). We discovered the restaurant on the way from the Moorish Castle, it is an inconspicuous street, away from all the hustle and bustle of the city. The owner is charismatic, energetic and from the first second we felt incredibly comfortable here. I highly recommend it to everyone who wants a real gourmet experience at great prices. If we return to Sintra in the future, we would love to visit this place again. Greetings from Slovakia! We thank you!

The motto of the owners is "a place created by friends for friends" and it really is. Amazing atmosphere. You feel like you're visiting a friend. Great, truly Portuguese food! Moelas is a world champion! Low prices. It is worth taking a longer walk from the center of Sintra to get here. The place is also child-friendly. Thank you! We recommend!

We had the greatest time of our holiday. After a visit to the palace we needed food and drink, and the owners explained every dish to us in detail before we ordered a perfect mix of traditional small plates that tasted incredible. The owner let us request some songs, we played darts + cards and were made some excellent drinks. The dessert was great too - all the food was made with passion, and we could taste it. You must go if you visit Sintra.

Such an incredible place!! After a day of adventure wandering the gardens of Pena we happened across this amazing gem. The owner was such an amazing host and chef, bringing so much life and vibrance to the restaurant. He helped us to navigate the menu and the dishes did not disappoint. I highly recommend the clams dish!! But all the dishes were great! And the sangria was just what we needed after a long day.

One of the best spots I've visited in Europe. This hidden and charming local restaurant/bar is away from the touristy spots and has authentic Portuguese food and drink. Locally sourced and made with passion, this is the best meal we've had in our vacation in Portugal. The sausage especially was a highlight. Ricardo is the most amazing and personable host with a real passion for his community and sharing his home with anyone who passes by. We felt immediately welcomed and at home. We returned that night to drink where we played darts and hung out with the locals. Ask for the cherry shots! This vacation wouldn't have been the same without visiting 20/10

Very, very late (January 2023) on my review but I promised the owner I would leave one. An incredible local tapas bar with some of the best eats I have ever had. Chicken wings, clams, sausage, house wine to name a few. Fun, laid back and casual atmosphere. I can't recommend it highly enough. This is a place where the locals hang out. Can't wait to come back.

We needed a quick bite to eat while we waited for our Airbnb to open. This place was super close. It was actually amazing. Got a sangria and it was delicious! The sangria in Sintra hits different! I ordered the octopus salad and it was very delicious flavorful. And I also ordered the chicken wings. Odd, but these babies were amazing. Crispy and flavorful!! Definitely get some! The cheese board was okay. The service was incredible. The owner seems like a cool dude and was super nice.

We stumbled on this place on a walk down from the Moorish castle, and it ended up being our best meal in Portugal. Ricardo told us what the local Portuguese items on the menu were and we ordered everything he recommended. From the traditional sausage made by his friend to the green wine, everything was delicious and the entire experience was lovely. The octopus salad, salami, and sausage were absolutely the highlights and are worth going for alone. We felt like old friends rather than tourists, which was also a nice change from the other restaurants. We will absolutely return!

A cute and cozy restaurant. It was a bit hidden away but I’m glad we came across it because the food was great! The workers were very kind and I even got a free shot on the house which was very sweet of them. 10/10 would recommend!

Amazing restaurant on the way back walking from Palácio da Pena, we saw it by chance and luckily decided to enter. It was very handy to be able to park in the area in from of the restaurant. The place itself is very nicely decorated, with good music too. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and gave us plenty of recommendations. We tried the eggs, mushrooms, cheese board and fried cuttlefish, and also had some local grilled cheese that was delicious. The desert was amazing too. If we return we will definitely go back to this place!

Tasco do Strauss was close to our hotel so we walked to it, rather than going to downtown Sintra. The food was great, the owner was downright entertaining and the atmosphere was fun. This was a really good place to go for tapas, local wines and Portuguese specialties. 🙂🙃🙂

What a treat! Stumbled upon this after a day of exploring the castles and hills and was greeted with kind and welcoming service! Authentic Portuguese but I was treated like a local, host helped me pick out great dishes and I’m glad I took his recommendations! The pate, octopus salad, moelas were all delicious! Sangria was amazing with fresh picked mint. Treat yourself to a little trip here, it’s worth it :)

One of the main reasons to come to Sintra is this place! Perfect for taking a tasty break from the tourist mass of the people around the city. The owner is really welcoming, kind and nice. Good food cooked with care and excellent beers, very nice place and top music. Definitely try the homemade almond cake! 😋

What a nice place! The decoration is all very custom and hand made by friends of Strauss. Inside it is not big. The food is really good, the chouriço, the choco frito, the morcela... Amazing! On top of all this the two managers, both very friendly, make you feel completely at home. A restaurant to come back, without a doubt.

HOMEMADE is the keyword here - homemade wine, homemade cheese, homemade traditional sausage (on fire). And all served with love by an extremely friendly and cheerful host. I’m grateful to have come across this hidden gem in Sintra!
