I cannot believe I haven’t left a review before now. My husband & I rave about Chaopya to everyone we know because we’ve loved every single dish we’ve ever had here! Everything is fresh & delicious and the owners are so kind and friendly! There’s something for everyone on the menu. Ranging from very mild to spicy. (Though, I’ve never had something so hot that I couldn’t handle it) The appetizers are fantastic and reasonably priced. I could eat an entire meal of the Satay skewers (and the tiny cucumber salad it comes with). Or the Thai Spring Rolls with the sweet & sour sauce. Yum! My favourite dish is the Pineapple Shrimp Curry. The shrimp are large and plentiful and cooked to perfection. The coconut cream sauce is divine; I dream of it for days after! We’ve had the Pad Thai, the Emerald Chicken Curry, the Chicken & Cashew Nuts, the Dry Beef Curry and the Shrimp & Cashew Nuts…. All of them were fantastic! I’ve also fallen in love with their Thai Iced Tea. So creamy and sweet! I’d never heard of it before coming to Chaopaya. Their building is charming; a converted Victorian home. Inside, you’ll find hand-carved wooden friezes hanging on the walls. In the lobby, you are greeted by a charming Aquarium & colourful flower garlands hanging on the walls and draped over Thai statues. Even the dish-ware is gorgeous. We learned they were sourced directly from factory in Thailand during one of the owners trips home. If you like Thai cuisine or are just curious and want to try something new, you won’t be disappointed!

We love everything about this restaurant. We always get the Pad Thai but have also had the assorted apps for 2, it was so phenomenal next time my partner and I will get it for 4. The banana fritters and coconut ice cream was a nice treat.

Avoid this place and save your money. Portions are small, and cost is high. I had the Pad-Kee-Mao and the seafood soup. The seafood soup had nice flavour, however, it was small and had 2 pieces of frozen squid, 1 shrimp, 1 mussel and a few mushrooms. It was not worth the $7. The Pad-Kee-Mao was borderline inedible. It had no other flavour except for salt, and this was SO salty. The noodles were overcooked and mushy. The portion was tiny. Our group had a few issues with some items. We felt that a couple dishes had a putrid spoilt meat smell. The owner fought with us and said the items were fine. He insisted that we were allowed to dislike the dish, but not to say that the food was not fresh. He highlighted various times that he needed to have items delivered from Toronto (1.5 hours away). For example, the noodles are thin rice noodles versus the fresh thick noodles. He stated he didn’t get enough business to obtain thick noodles from Toronto. This food is not authentic Thai food.

The whole restaurant is well decorated with Thai art pieces giving a warm vibe. Food is authentic. Tom yum soap tastes especially good and golden curry is rich with coconut milk and not spicy at all.

First time enjoying this lovely gem! The staff were so sweet, giving us a little tour of the old home and some of its history. We love that original details have been preserved. We ordered fresh spring rolls, coconut chicken soup, satay chicken, chicken and shrimp pad thai, chicken and ginger, chicken golden curry, and white rice. Served on gorgeous dishes with beautiful spoons, the food was amazing! Fresh, hot, veggies crispy, chicken tender, pad thai saucy but not overdone, fresh ginger...all of it so yummy! 100% going back next time we want Thai in Barrie!

If you're seeking an authentic Thai dining experience, look no further than Chaopaya Thai. This hidden gem offers a truly immersive taste of Thailand right in the heart of the city. From the moment you step inside, you are greeted with warm, traditional Thai hospitality. The décor, adorned with intricate wood carvings and vibrant silk fabrics, instantly transports you to the bustling streets of Bangkok. The menu is a culinary tour of Thailand, featuring a diverse array of dishes that highlight the rich, complex flavors the cuisine is known for. I began my meal with the fresh cold spring rolls which were absolutely delightful. For my main the chicken fried rice is executed to perfection, with just the right amount of chicken and fresh vegetables. The owners at Chaopaya are knowledgeable and attentive, eager to ensure your experience is nothing short of exceptional. Their passion for Thai cuisine is evident in every dish they serve which is cooked fresh. In summary, this place is a treasure trove of authentic Thai flavors. It's a place that deserves more recognition and patronage, promising an unforgettable dining experience that will have you returning time and again.

Khob khun ka ขอบคุณค่ะ A local, family-ran Thai eatery with under the radar solid tasting grub. I'd expect more tofu and broccoli from the Pad See Ew ผัดซีอิ๊ว, but what lacked there definitely made up in the authenticity through yummy flavor. The really lovely lady gave us a heads up their rice noodles (not the authentic fat wide rice noodles) were standard pad Thai noodles which I respect. The actual grub itself had a solid consistency and decent Thai cooking, don't be fooled by the aesthetics, the chow is groovy. Support local businesses!
