My name is Carlie, I’m 35 and I liked to think of myself as a fit, happy and motivated individual before my injury. I’ve spent 17 years working in Health & Fitness, I competed in various sporting events and I was always challenging myself to numerous health & well-being activities. 3 1/2 years ago I suffered a car accident and have been living in chronic pain ever since. During this time I’ve had X-rays, MRI’s and ultrasounds. I’ve seen doctors and various specialists including chiropractors, physios, osteopaths etc. I’ve had numerous holistic therapies including acupuncture, bowen technique and massage therapy. I’ve spent so much time, money and hope seeing specialists around the UK and nothing really helped me long term. Don’t get me wrong, I had periods of improvements but attempts at returning to fitness / sports always ended with many steps back and lots of pain and discomfort. Now, the above techniques may work for other people but for me no one was treating my whole self, which was hugely frustrating! I have been working with Darryl now for 5 months. Darryl looked at my entire body, not just the site of the pain. He listens, whilst this seems like an obvious thing to do, believe me not many people actually really listened. Darryl really wanted to help me, he genuinely cares and fortunately is also one of the most knowledgeable people I’ve been fortunate enough to meet. Darryl treats my entire body, every session is different, targeting the problem areas and gives me a daily programme to follow. He’s also been a huge emotional support for me, I never knew how consuming chronic pain could be. It’s not been a great chapter but knowing I have Darryl to coach, guide and support me, I know I’ll continue to be a stronger, happier version of myself. A huge thanks to Darryl for everything he’s supported me with. I cannot recommend him enough!

Kaizen Centre had provided excellent guidance and support to my daughter who has been recovering from a dance injury. Darryl’s knowledge and expertise in strength and conditioning has proved to be invaluable in helping Sophie resume both her fitness as well as confidence. Darryl has worked with Sophie in 121’s and via Zoom and all sessions have been varied and tailor-made to meet Sophie’s recovery.Darryl is both fun and motivational and through his professional input and genuine care Sophie is injury free and stronger than ever. Kaizen is a friendly and well equipped centre which aims to support everyone! Highly recommend Kaizen and Darryl as a mentor for all aspiring dancers.

I was introduced to Kaizen Performance Centre as my daughter wanted to further her love for dance at a 6th from college. On our first meeting with Darryl he made us feel so welcome. After discussing our daughter’s requirements for her progression he instantly described what he would could achieve for her. His knowledge of what is required from training techniques, nutrition, physical strength and mental strength is unparalleled. Even after a few sessions we noticed a huge difference in our daughters training ability and her mental attitude. Thanks to Darryl our daughter was in the very best shape and most importantly he mentored her on her self belief. With all this said she managed to secure a place at a college with a fully funded scholarship. Darryl is more than a coach he has become a friend and someone that my daughter can turn to for advice. The whole team at Kaizan are an amazing, caring and very dedicated bunch that we are blessed to have found.

Darryl's performance coaching is absolutely outstanding both generally and for when I am preparing for a specific event. I have trained with him for nearly five years. He helps me find those muscles no one knows about. His energy and devotion to his work is unequalled by anyone else I have trained with. The Kaizen Centre has made a difference to the way I think about performance.

I can’t thank Darryl enough for his dedication and motivation towards my training over the past 3 years. He has guided me through injuries and my competitive training for Irish Dancing World Championships, and many other competitions. Without him I wouldn’t have become a Midlands Champion and placed 9th in the Worlds. Thank you Darryl, you have supported me endlessly throughout it all. Darryl is now teaching me to adapt my training skills to get my Level 2 fitness course. Thank you Darryl and Zoe for doing everything and above for me! I highly recommend Kaizen to everyone regardless of your training ability!

The Kaizen Centre and Daryl are an absolute MUST for anyone involved in performance sport. The integration of bespoke strength and conditioning training, with my daughters daily classical ballet training, have totally transformed their bodies and mindset. Wish we had known about it years ago! Thank you 🙏

Being part of the boot camp that Kaizen offer really opened my eyes to how I have been training over the years. Technique, posture, and mental wellbeing come straight to mind when stepping foot into the well equipped gym. Daryl and Zoe are extremely knowledgeable and so passionate about what they do it really does shine through. The circuits are so fun and absolutely killed but so worth it. Keep up the great work team Kaizen!!

Beyond Awesome! I have been going to Kaizen Centre for three years or more and can safely say that it has changed my life for the better. Over many years I have had periods of trying to keep fit and would do the usual circuit found in most standard gyms, but meeting Darryl at Kaizen, truly transformed my understanding of exercise and physical development. Until then I had pretty much taken the view that my less able physical ability was just a fact of life and a fact of getting older, but I was so wrong. Working and learning from Darryl and all at Kaizen has given me a new lease of life, not only feeling fitter and stronger physically, but emotionally stronger too. Being a part of Kaizen, I feel a true sense of community, be that from Darryl, Zoe, Sarah or from the members you meet and train with. I have much more to learn and I look forward to being a part of Kaizen for many years to come and to reaping the benefits from the sound and supportive guidance, support which has also extended to my family, for which I will be forever grateful. I truly cannot recommend Kaizen Centre enough. You would have nothing to lose and a lot to gain.

In 2014, I suffered severe injuries to my lower back. An MRI scan confirmed I had slipped two discs in my lumbar spine, resulting in nerve damage restricting movement in my right foot, adversely affecting my balance and visible muscle wastage in my right calf. I spent several years seeking professional help from various chiropractors, osteopaths, physios and Ayurvedic back specialists. None of which were able to help with the physical and mental stress I was enduring. I was introduced to Darryl Canham (DC) in summer 2019 and have since been having weekly rehabilitation sessions at the centre. It was evident from the get go that DC really wanted to help me and genuinely cared. At the beginning of each session DC would look at my entire body, movement and patterns and really listen to my concerns. Every session is different and tailored to focus on different problem areas and not just the obvious! I’ve learned several new exercises, techniques and methods that have all helped enormously with my pain, range of movement, balance and core strength. The movement in my right foot has improved significantly and I can also see muscle growth on my right calf. He continues to support me by giving me weekly exercise plans and stretches to do in the comfort of my own home. A massive thank you to DC and the entire team at the Kaizen centre. I’ve made huge progress in my recovery. I cannot thank you enough. 👊🏾💪🏾👏🏾👍🏾🙏🏾🏋️‍♀️

I cannot speak highly enough of Kaizen. I've been working with Darryl for 12 months and have seen tremendously positive changes in that timeframe. Darryl is kind, compassionate, knowledgeable, and quick to adapt movement to suit my body's unique quirks. He approaches training holistically, teaches mental and emotional resilience, and is an all-around joy to work with. In my teens, I trained in ballet until I was injured. I also have hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, which means my joints can dislocate very easily. This has a major impact on my daily life and made me very nervous to start training--especially with weights. Darryl's thorough introductory assessment, combined with his adaptive approach to training that is rooted in a deep understanding of anatomy and physiology, has taken that anxiety away. He's built a programme around my body and focused on building strength in the muscles that hold my joints in place. I can now walk up a hill without having my hips slip out of place. 12 months ago, that was beyond a pipedream. During my first session, I told Darryl that lifting a 2kg dumbbell made me feel nervous. Earlier this month, I lifted >50% of my body weight in a rack pull with a big smile on my face. That probably tells you everything you need to know. 10/10

This is a truly excellent environment to learn martial arts. You have a choice of 3 martial arts to choose from - Aikido, Aikijutsu/Bujitsu and Karate. You try them all and then can make the decision about which one you want to focus on, however sessions are varied and there will often be sections of the class where you learn bits of the others, making for a dynamic learning experience. Shujin Darryl (head of the dojo) is knowledgeable, personable, humorous and brilliant at his craft. The various black belts he has trained, who help teaching us, are easy to talk to and help push us to be our best. I highly recommend the Kaizen Centre and have learned a lot from training with them.
