I got a chicken teriyaki food bowl and the food was horrendous. The food was cold ; the chicken was stale and cold and wasted off ; and there was barely any teriyaki sauce which made the already try dish even more dry , don’t bother trying this new and save your money , plenty of other places near by for much better

We went here before the grand opening. At that time, everything was with a discount, and all the staff were still training. We ordered Chicken Katsu, Pork Udon and another type of Udon (I forgot). When we ordered through the counter, it took a lot of time for them to prepare since they were still training. We also got their prawn tempura and strawberry mochi, and I forgot the other food we ordered. Taste-wise, it was delicious and decadent! The broth was tasty, and the udon was thick and could make you full in a few minutes only. The prawn tempura was a bit soggy and not crispy, and the strawberry mochi was pre-packed, but it was soft and chewy. The pumpkin thing was also great. The place itself is located near the Oracle River and is accessible. The interior is tidy and has a lot of seating. I gave it a 4-star since there is always room for improvement.

Love this, I came here with my daughter and her boyfriend. We all had a lovely meal and what we didn't eat at Marugame Udon, we were quite welcome to take it home 😁. The staff are very helpful and friendly. Prices are excellent for such a nice place. Quality food in an Outstanding restaurant. Well done everyone. Would highly recommend this one. Katsu curry 🍛 and rice 🍚, if you're not sure what to eat in a Japanese 🍙🍡 restaurant. DW.

Pleasantly surprised with every thing : ) Great value food, very good quality food that tastes good, great atmosphere and super nice staff ! The small size bowl is perfect for me and easy to finish if you don't have a huge appetite (and it's actually a good size for a full meal). The large potion is really big (which is great). The tempura are also very nice, but a little pricey. I really appreciate the tempura bits and pickled ginger being available. Overall I greatly recommend this place, yes it's not as great as places in HK and Japan but that's a hugely unfair comparison. It's probably some of the better udon you can have in the UK and the best at this price

We went there twice during the soft opening week where everything was discounted while the staffs were training. All staffs are friendly, except supervisors - they keep asking staffs shouting with greetings in Japanese. Staffs were already busy in what they were doing. Those shouting doesn't help them at all, and clearly there is a hygiene concern when they are preparing the foods in front of you. And those supervisors just stood there not helping at all. The udon noodles are freshed made in the restaurant and they are tasty and bouncy in good quality. The chicken katsu curry udon is the best and we highly recommend it. The chicken katsu is crunch outside and tender inside. The curry is flavoursome and perfect with the udon noodle. Pork tonkotsu udon is also good and rich in flavour. Chicken Paitsn udon is a bit salty. The chicken is clearly overcooked as the chicken meats break into small pieces. Avoid Teriyaki Salmon Fillet Rice Bowl - it simply adds a pre-cooked salmon on top of rice. The salmon is dried and not in much flavour. The rice is cooked with sweet rice vinegar. The combination of sweet rice and savoury salmon is strange and definitely not our taste. In my view, this dish is not worthy in price and the quality doesn't stand up. All sides are not cheap in price. Prawn tempura is a little soggy and it tastes ok. Chicken karrage is tender and I would recommend it. Toilets are upstairs and they are cleaned. The corridor is well decorated.

Tried this restaurant with a friend on a Saturday evening. We really enjoyed the experience. There’s someone to greet you at the door to explain how it all works. The noodles are created and cooked fresh in front of your as you’re waiting to order your food that’s freshly prepared. Lots of fresh accompaniments. Tempura was also very good. Lovely atmosphere. Would recommend.

Bodrul was very helpful, portions were really filling and well priced for what you got, was a tiny confusing on how to order but I worked it out quickly. They have omusubi which I was incredibly happy about as I struggled to find It elsewhere. I found the music a bit loud at points but it wasn't a huge issue

The place is well decorated. And it's brand new. But that's where the good part stops. The way you order food is - unusual. Sort of like a canteen. It's on the expensive side. And despite the cost, the food is nowhere near value for money. I'd stay away from rice based dishes. The rice is very dry and too sticky. I paid £3.85 for an ice cream bowl that was roughly twice the size of the little thing they provide for dips. I didn't like the food, i don't think the place was child friendly and make it worse, it's NOT value for money. I'd avoid this place and save yourself the time.

Overall, this was overpriced. We tried a large variety of udons and while the broth and chicken katsu curry udon was good, the pork of the tonkotsu udon was rough, and the tempura was mediocre. The main reason why this was three stars was the price. £2.45 per piece of prawn tempura is simply unacceptable especially when there wasn’t anything much to it. The self-service system was quite interesting at first but I wouldn’t be coming back again.

Terrible. Entire cooking crew has no experience. Whatever you do - do not order the teriyaki chicken rice bowl. First of all, the staff refused to provide more sauce - saying that “sorry two scoops only”. The chicken was dry and the rice undercooked. Not that it would have made a difference - the sauce was terrible, just tasted like a soy sauce and not teriyaki. Was hungry but didn’t want to touch it/ finish it. Udon was OK, but nothing to write home about. Gutted - should have went with my usual Osaka - at least I would have had a good meal there! Osaka staff cares loads more compared to the novices here who don’t even look like they want to be there! Avoid.

The food was really quick and we were able to get down to eat very quickly. The service was quick and the servers were really helpful and nice. Bodrul was very welcoming and showed us around the restaurant and explained their udon making process which they pride themselves on. The udon definitely proved themselves and definitely worth the little price. I got the chicken katsu which was very delicious and very crispy chicken was is desirable. I would definitely recommend coming here if you need something quick and tasty.

Way too expensive! Roughly 40g beef and 300g noodles, seems like the imperfect balance for over £12. Customer service is good enough, clean place with plenty of spaces available for a mid-week lunch time. If there was an option to add more beef/chicken/etc to the main dish I would probably rate this 4 stars however still too expensive …

Nice food in the same price range as nandos. I had the pork tonkatsu. Really nice broth and nice selection of tempura. Looking forward to going again.

Had the chicken katsu Udon and the beef kimchi Udon. Both were delicious! And great value! Also props for Carlos who served us. He was very friendly and helpful explaining how to open my Japanese marble soda! Deffo recommend

Self serve canteen style, with main staples of freshly made udon, rice dishes, Japanese curry, tempura at very reasonable prices. Service can be a bit slow, as most things are made to order (which is good) as you stand in the queue as it's not table service, but I think this is part due to the fact people are unfamiliar with the concept and the menu, so when they reach the ordering section they need to think and ask what's what.

We love udon, so we're very pleased when a branch of Marugame Udon opened near us. Tasty noodles and tempura at a very good price. Hearing a hearty "irrasshaimase!" on entering is a nice touch.

Visited this restaurant a couple days ago with some friends and the food was amazing with prices being reasonable and affordable. The ambience and atmosphere of the venue was immaculate too. The staff were also helpful and lovely to talk to, especially Luca who was a delight to interact with. He was also a wonderful trainee photographer! Definitely revisiting Marugame in the weeks to come!

I’ve been to this particular branch before but this time it was a memorable one for sure! The food was great (I had the Katsu Curry Udon) and at decent pricing with student discounts, and also so very filing- I bit off more than I could chew. The staff were so welcoming and so hospital! Such EXCEPTIONAL service from the greatest man Luca, you had to be there. Made us laugh, super sweet and fun guy, and the best personal photographer. Who knows, he might just make it onto our gram.. 🫢 ありがとうございます! 🤗⭐️

Love the canteen style service - very fast to get the food this way. Great options for vegetarians like me! Tempura is very crispy and soft inside and Bodrul (server/manager) was so welcoming showing us how it all worked. Would 100% recommend and has great value - delicious.
